As long as you're an elf.As for fighting and doctrine and such, I'd think elves would focus on not losing lives. It takes a really long time to replenish manpower (elfpower?) compared to other, faster breeding folks, and also because even a single elf dying is the loss of minimum decades of experience and memory. Even a single elf death is unacceptable. The elves rely on a high level of information and subterfuge with the aim of heading of conflicts before they begin, by any means necessary. Sometimes a short-term harmful trade deal, sometimes instigating a different conflict, sometimes assassination. For elves, the war started 50 years ago, you just didn't notice.As for battle, I think elves would favour lightning-fast precision strikes, guerilla tactics, and demoralising over pitched battles wherever possible.

What's a cool fact about elves in your setting? In mine they have perfect genes which means no birth defects ever, as such they have no incest taboo and it's considered very honorable for an elf whose father dies to marry his mother.

This came extremely useful because if Arrianne uttered a single word, the cover wouldn't work (I usually speak in thick 'murican southern accent). So Ferris would play the husband and Arrianne would play his quiet wife (she would only gesture with a couple of nods and simple scoffs). We only needed the cover to pass the gates. The elven boss agreed, but promised that he would kill Leon if Leon went back on his word. Leon tended to his allies wounds, they were tied up (including Dorian, since he falsely claimed to be a spellcaster), and put back into the enclosure. When his allies woke up restrained and back where they had started, he explained the new situation to them, and said they were basically only allowed to live on the condition that they were kept like this to prevent any spellcasting. Morgan, Habryck, and Dorian were annoyed by this, but couldn't exactly protest.Later, some soldiers delivered them dinner, which Leon had to feed each person one-by-one.3/?

After travelling through the forest until sunset, they finally stumbled upon a camp of human soldiers - who were at first alarmed by the presence of the dwarf, but quickly pacified when the group explained themselves.I know this is long but I had a lot of fun and wanted to talk about it since the war is a pretty big deal in the setting and it was also the first time I've gotten to really play in a couple years. Our next game is on the 20th, but they'll probably be back in the human kingdom so I won't have any more elf stories for a while.

Idyllic lifestyle, but not exactly worhy of epic novels or tabletop games. Also, LOTR fans usually started being fans when they're, like, eleven so they don't typically see the elves in an objective light, they just see Legolas being a show-off who's better than everyone else and project that he's secretly an asshole (rather than a nice guy who helps his friends, which is true to form)
