I played all of these back in the day except Soulstorm. Apparently I bought them on Steam at some point, I don't remember when or why. Is Soulstorm worth playing?
>>97659792If you want to play the mods then yes, otherwise avoid it. It's kind of a lesser, shittier version of Dark Crusade and not really worth your time outside of the funny voice acting and memes.
>>97659792Not really, and the load times were fucking horrendous for some reason. I used to play Soulstorm with a fucking book because loading into a match took fucking forever.
>>97659792Video games have their own board.
>>97659792i thought dark eldar was fun
>>97659792Fuck off back to /vst/.
>>97660353>>97660380>hownewareyou.gif
>>97659874Despite what?
>>97660484Blood Ravens canonically lose Soulstorm, meaning Boreale dies along with like half the Chapter.
>>97660504Thank you, anon.
>>97660504I still remember the guardfag seething when the outcome was revealed, lmao
>>97659792>Apparently I bought them on Steam at some point, I don't remember when or why.Same exact case for me, I don't remember ever buying these games or adding them to my library, but apparently I have the entire collection and played for over 50 hours?
>>97659792I only played imperial guard and sisters and this was years ago but it felt like more of dark crusade with some balance changes. Also aircraft which fucking suckNever played the campaign
>>97659792The mods are good. 2 is worth playing as well.
the flyers dont really feel right, and the campaign is awful. People use it for mods only but im not sure thats really the case anymore with the most recent version
>>97659792Modded Soulstorm is the best Warhammer 40k game. Otherwise no unless you are a fan of the Dark Eldar or SoB
>>97659792You play the base game, Winter Assault and Dark Crusade for the campaigns. You play Soulstorm for the multi, the skirmish and mods.
>>97659792The game was technically fine, but as I recall it had a SPECTACULARLY LARGE memory leak issue that never got fixed so you'd be exiting and reloading the game every mission so it didnt grind to a halt.
>>97660466How much of a nogames are you?
>>97659792Yeah if you like the other ones than play for the SOB and Dark Eldar. The campaign doesn't have static building where your structures remain after a battle, the new factions are overpowered and the flying units don't add much to the game. Those are the drawbacks
>>97660578Who was the canon winner again? It's been a long time for me.
>>97669881orks
FOR EVERY ONE OF US WHO FALLS, TEN MORE WILL TAKE HIS PLACE!
There are some really good WH40K mods for Men of War.
>>97663028The campaign was fun as far as the overall scale of it, but they made the beyond retarded decision to make it so that your bases went back to square one each fight, making defending in the mid game a horrible slog. If anything, it made more sense to just beeline straight to a stronghold, just so you don't have to play the same two or three maps the exact same way a hundred times.
>>97669881Orks is bestIn fact the same orks turn up in DOW3 as a direct result, but sadly everyone hated DOW3 so we'll have to see if DOW4 will even bother continuing the plotline
I remember how much hate this game got from the tabletop community. You can destroy a landraider with lasguns? How ridiculous!
>>97679134The DOW damage calculations were pretty neat and made this scenario even less believable than doing it on tabletop.A Lasgun deals 1dps to a Land Raider, which has 10k HP. You would need the whole squad to fire uninterrupted for almost 20 minutes to kill it.Compare to TT where you need about 600 Lasgun shots.
>>97679690Realistically neither of those situations are ever going to happen. Lasguns killing Land Raiders is a boogeyman that never actually materialises in reality.
