ive been playing MTGO (which I know is not arena) since 2010, but I haven't played it in awhile. Now I just use Macs. I was gonna make a VMware fusion virtual machine of a windows machine but will it still work well if I only give it 4gb or 6gb RAM? it says 8gb minimum which sounds insane because I use to run this on a piece of shit windows vista machine

it says it also needs 16gb HDD space which is much less of an issue but I dont trust what the neural networks saying (where I got the info 4 or 6gb ram will work) so does anyone have any experience with that?

also why would I rather want to play arena instead of MTGO? I tried arena before years back and while it looked graphically a lot better, MTGO was faster and smoother and reminded me of a contemporary version of the Duels of the Planeswalkers "shandalar" deck duel part of the game.

any other info I should know about it? I'd be running it on an m2 MacBook book air which has run everything else no problem including resident evil 4 remake in 4k at medium settings and various porting kit emulations like Age of empires 2 & 3 (Steam HD versions).

I dont really plan to spend much if anything on revisiting magic online. but I had some great decks on Magic Online. A pretty sweet Nicol Bolas red blue black commander deck, a really fun white lifelink cat tribal deck, a black green infect deck from drafting scars of mirrodin in 2010 which I kept those cards over the years. and they added some crazy cards to the game I think I have a mox of something in there (not just chrome mox).

That’s cool yeah I have some paper cards from Ixalan and on MTGO I’ve got quite a few cards from that. I might consider checking it out although I did a random commander battle and the guy was using cool standard cards or whatever and then he pulls out something that’s like a fucking race car. Arena is where 99% of Standard games happen.
It's also the easiest place to draft for free, and by far where most draft games are played as well (and oddly has tournaments now with actual cash payout for Limited).
So as a longtime player those are your main reasons to maintain an Arena account.
