>>97674248>>97674251>Chain-Bayonets and chainswords should become a single 'chainblade' option that doesn't require the wielder to use a bolter (and thus TSS/HSS should also get them)Disagree: Tacs & TSS should get optional chainswords, but currently all they'd gain is AP5 on their melee, as well as Shred 6 (on AP5), which is USELESS. Same for Bayonets & Chainbayonets.Meaning reworking chainswords is necessary. But if they are, then chainaxes, heavy chainswords and heavy chainaxes also need a rework. I would LIKE chainswords to be +1A and have the other chainblades I mentioned have their Init penalties lessened...but on the 1A-3A range that would make chainswords do more damage than chainaxes, which isn't acceptable. So, I propose chainswords, chainaxes, heavy chainswords and heavy chainaxes all gain +1S. I know this sounds like a lot, but as it is right now, chainswords are almost imperceptible in marine vs marine combat. Some units have to give up a bolter for a chainsword, and that's awful. At least this way it'd be a thing. It also lets Chain-Bayonets to be perceivably different from regular bayonets: S+1. Furthermore, on bayonets and chain-bayonets, I would also let bayonets grant the Assault trait to the gun they're mounted on (i.e.: bolters & Kraken bolters), but the model is forced to use the bayonet as their melee weapon on a turn they use their gun as an assault weapon>Despoiler Squads should be able to swap their bolt pistols for combat shields or swap their chainswords for a second bolt pistol/heavy chainsword (which is also how it worked in 2.0 anyway)Ok, BUT you also have to consider giving Despoilers +1A with chainswords or chainaxes on the charge. Seeing how you'll let them get heavy chainswords en masse, then the former 1/5 option for heavy chainswords is replaced with a 1/5 option for heavy chainaxes. And despoilers may swap their chainswords for chainaxes for free like Assault marines if they so wish.
Oh forgot to add. Please change Vexillas to add Combat Res for every Vexilla in the combat, rather than for every unit with a vexilla.Centurions can bring their own vexillas, and i'd like theirs to stack with their unit's

>>97676899Nta but yes. Heresy era marines weren't autistic either when compared to their 40k cousins.
>>97677058>20 dudes cannot load into two transports holding 10 each because there's no doctrine allowing such maneuver>not autistic
>>97676962Considering volkite guns are just better than bolters on every basis beyond "cost of manufacture"? Sure.Bolters are only in use because the emperor couldnt get everyone to use volkite. If he had his way everyone would be equipped like DA inductii.
>>97677083From a gameplay perspective? Volkites fuck demons something bad. Because they tend towards a higher strength (demons rely on solid toughness) and punish low save units (demons have low but constant saves). So yes, vokite guns (chargers, calivers, you name it) are better vs demons than basic bolters.
>>97677083Bolters were also favoured because of the ability to use different types of ammunition. Volkite being so complicated not even the Mechanicum fully understands how they work, or what type of radiation it even fires, meant it was never going to see mass adoption. You don't want guns for rank-and-file infantry that are so complicated they can't be field stripped and serviced by the grunts wielding them, that's a recipe for disaster.
>>97677081>we need a second in command for every group of 5 persons is somehow less autistic than >who gives a shitA squad over capacity getting locked out of DTs is just to avoid headaches and letting people bring 2 vehicles without using any slot. Also last time I checked that's how they did that in 40k too. Meanwhile in ligma there isn't any restriction on that.
GW's site says the rapiers come with 60mm bases but I just measured mine and they're 64mm. Is this common amongst GW products?
>>97676899The legions had a huge variety of different ranks in their structures, which absolutely included equivalents for a corporal 2nd in command in a squad led by a sergeant, as well as a hierarchy of sergeants that are vaguely analogous to platoon sergeants/company sergeants.People get caught up in the rules and get the idea that there's only>Ordinary line marine -> Sergeant -> Optae -> Centurion/Consul -> PraetorWhen that is not at all what's represented in either the Black Books or novels. What it *isn't* though, is universal. It's entirely up to the legion you're talking about and details there are pretty deliberately vague.
>>97677081>Doesn't have spartan land raiders, thunderhawks and kharbybdis assault claws to deploy all his 20 man squadsPoorfag detected. In several 40k novels is has repeatedly been mentioned that chapters are still using space craft and vehicles with a capacity designed for legions.

>>97677122Do we have anything hh-related mentioning this 2nd in command? >>97677122Well, post an example of a second in command form the black books then. Let us see some of that proof you claim is everywhere.

>>97676699I think the sarge carrying the banner is sort of a tradeoff, cool factor vs. putting all your points in one basket. Really all the wargear (vexilla, auspex, etc) should just be able to be given to 'any model' in the unit and let the player decide.
all imperials must fucking hang
Arguing about who gets the vexilla is dumb because it as a concept is superfluous. Like what the superhuman soldiers who can fight for days without rest who are hypno indoctrinated into loayalty who know no fear are gonna get inspiried to fight harder by a little emblem on a stick?
>>97677363This is before the hypno-indoctrination was really a thing, anon. 30k marines don't have ATSKNF.

>>97677363in my eyes the effects it conveys more relate to there being a very evident indicator about where a squad and its center of mass as it were is located amidst a press of combat or during a retreatso more just a bigass visual coordination element as opposed to anything else and i think it being so makes a good deal of sense as such a thing can readily be picked out and constantly referenced in the undertaking of actions and movements
>>97677363I wish we would go back to vexilla and bayonets just being something you put on your models because it looks cool. Not for some sort of in-game rules advantage. >>97677414That's stupid
>>97677390That's a good point, actually
Sabre tanks are kinda stupid. Whats the point/use case? "we have a fast strike vehicle, except it has a centerline mounted weapon ill suited to maneuver warfare and also its weapon loadouts arent good for the sort of stuff you would want a fast vehicle to do"
>>97677494Because it looks cool
>>97677494>Whats the point/use case?A tank that's crewed by a single guy.
>>97674136My blackshields aren't supposed to have much artillery but I want that whirlwind
>>97677498Do they though? It looks like a stug-ified rhinos inbred cousin. Its aesthetics are utterly at odds with the fantasy its trying to sell.
>>97677500You cant say that when like half its guns are pintle mounted. >inb4 "but thats different! the volkire pintle is automated or whatever"Then why not just have an automated turret?
>>97677514Remember that the chassis is so shit it couldn't even handle hunter-killer missiles (which can be mounted on land speeders) and they had to give it its own special missiles that don't break the thing when fired.
Painting Iron Hands fucking sucks for Ligma, they only really work well when you can weather them at heroic scale. But, I think I know how to paint them now and be visually distinct at a distance as Iron Hands.
>>97676962along with others said, this reminded me that volkite weapons are great against void shields in titanicus. I think at least? hell, is titanicus even a thing or was it replaced with ligma? damn ordo sinister is so cool... about time I get a recast.
>>97677531I can because pintle mounted guns are a defensive thing meant to help if it gets swarmed and because the fluff blurb says so. If anything having a hull gun with no traverse makes sense only when the driver is also the gunner making it one of the few times where a warhammer model having a fixed gun isn't too retarded. The lower profile of not having a turret also helps with shoot and scoot-ing which is a must for vehicles that have paper thin armour.
But seriously. What is the sabre meant to do? Whats the fantasy its meant to appeal to? A fast strike tank? Thats already the predator and Sicaran. A light gun platform? Land speeders. It does nothing well and is awkward in every role. Its got an awkward mix of anti-infantry and (supposedly) anti-vehicle weapons which leaves it weird into any target. For a small, fast and fragile vehicle it has a fucking centerline weapon so it has to expose its ass at inopportune moments. Its just baffling on every level. This bothers me because I WANT to like it. It could have been really cool. A space marine tactical essentially, Lighter and cheaper than a tank with weapons designed to allow it to punch above its weight from an ambush position. Or a gun buggy designed to pack infantry suppression weapons to support astartes advances or whatever. Instead we get this shit. >>97677562>I can because pintle-mounted guns are a defensive thing meant to helpYea man, that pintle mounted gun about par with the hull mounted volkite is a light defensive thing thats just there for light backup. Same as the multi melta. Its why it can only fire one of them at once. Its a stupid design and the lore makes it WORSE. This is supposed to be the cutting edge, the pinnacle of space marine tanks, the fucking f-35 of astartes vehicles. And it looks like something semi-literate militants would cobble together out of a rhino and some scrap parts.
>>97677558AT is still popular in a cult sort of way.
>>97676629Imagine what his feather would go for on the imperial version of ebay?

>>97676673When I get my full size warlord im going devotional bell. Im even thinking about doing one on my reaver, maybe making it swapable. I dont play the games at all, I just think the idea of the titans also being walking monuments is incredible lore wise, part of why I LOVE titan lore the most out of ALL big stupid robot/mech war type shit.
>>97677573>Whats the fantasy its meant to appeal to?it would be the finest granularity and swiftest unit in one's composition of a game of 30k panzer commander. outriders and scouts and fore-runnerswhereas predators and sicarans would be more mainline medium MBTs, kratussies the heavier lynchpins, and the superheavies your absolute brickssuper niche tho admittedly. personally i'd just go for a predator/kratos/superheavy column if i were after such a thing and skip all the other sorts
>>97676857Link to caster, fren?
>>97677562>The lower profile of not having a turret also helps with shoot and scoot-ing which is a must for vehicles that have paper thin armour. The issue is that this comes at the expense of "it either shoots or moves", because while in game these things obviously happen sequentially "in reality" most of these vehicles would be firing dynamically as they drive. The firing pattern of a fucking vindicator are not what you want from your paper thin strike tank. You dont want to quickly pop out of cover facing the enemy, stop (maybe making some minor last minute adjustments to position because your gun has functionally no aiming of its own), fire, drive away. If the sabre was designed as essentially "the worlds biggest rapier"? A gun platform designed to bring big guns to the front/ambush positions quickly to with little regard to its survivability? Okay, fine, the low profile would definetly help with that and you dont need much of a turret when youre just making minor adjustments before firing at an unprepared opponent. But thats clearly not what its supposed to be, its meant to be an agile duellist >>97677584, not a kratos battle-cannon with wheels strapped to the side. The sabre should decide what it wants to be. And either have an automated/largely automated turret with its lighter armaments (and ideally a smaller hull) or an actually heavy gun (centerline mounted) and be a budget venator/vindicator.
>>97677573>But seriously. What is the sabre meant to do?Legally distinct nostalgia bait gone wrong.
>>97677573>multi melta pintleIn 1.0 when the sabre was introduced it wasn't even a thing, that's just FW losing the plot with 2.0 and 3.0 which isn't anything new.>This is supposed to be the cutting edge, the pinnacle of space marine tanks, the fucking f-35 of astartes vehicles. It isn't, it's meant to be a rapier that moves faster with an heavier gun.
>>97677624>It isn'tAnon its literally in the lore you posted. This is the cutting edge, the latest design using new technology based on data gathered from the predator and sicaran and their performance. >"The first of a new breed of space marine vehicles"> "the result of the distilled experience of the great crusade" >"it carries a variety of technological wonders newly forged" >"it embodies a new, mobile style of war"If it was a bigger rapier? If it was like in >>97677623? A big gun on wheels designed to simply put a big projectile through the armor of that xenos battle tank as efficiently as possible? I would have zero complaints. But that ISNT what the kratos is meant to be (or at least, its not what it is presented as). Its this apparently nimble and agile fighter that represents the epitome of maneuver warfare and is mostly kitted out with lighter guns designed for shelling infantry and other soft targets.
>>97677558>hell, is titanicus even a thing or was it replaced with ligma?they're not releasing stuff for it anymore, but it's still officially supported. the starter set and books are still in production, even if all the other kits have been rebranded for ligma
>>97677644It also doesent help its guns are (neutron asides) "generalist" or "anti-infantry".Autocannons are not the weapons of a dedicated, specialized, gun platform. Theyre the all rounder, that weapon class you put on a vehicle meant for facing all manner of threats and problems. It is NOT the kind of weapon you strap centerline onto a tank and send it at the enemy. Likewise with that fucking volkite, who the fuck decides "I need to kill lots of infantry, I know, let me have a gun that cant aim sideways!"
>>97677644If you actually read what I posted you would've also read that all of that tech is for letting a single marine crew it. It isn't meant to be replacing tanks, it literally is a rapier on steroids.>All intended to allow the tank to be operated by a single marineFrom my own pic. More semantics. You might as well complain about the lack of suspension on basically all of the tanks or how poorly designed their fronts are or how unbalanced so many of the turrets are. It's just the setting's various, flawed, design philosophies
>>97677721>Theyre centerline mounted dipshit, its only ever firing straight forwards in the direction its driving. You arent leading shit that way.Again, didn't know that each time the sabre fires the tracks lock into a single direction and their speed can't be changed to turn the tank and lead the shots. >>97677083>Bolters are only in use because the emperor couldnt get everyone to use volkite. If he had his way everyone would be equipped like DA inductii.Honestly, marines should use some variation of lasguns hooked up to their generator. That way you dont need to worry about ammo.

>>97679480Isn't he the fabricator general now?
>>97681026Maybe they’d swap to that if the great crusade was successful but they regularly encountered xenos or human enclaves capable of surviving bolter rounds. Lasguns would just be worse
>>97681026Pre-terawatt alliance thunder warriors were equipped with heavy lasguns that could sever arms with a single shot, it would be cool to get those as one of the resin weapon packs like FW did for all those different patterns of bolters, heavy bolters, plasma cannons, etc.
>>97677102>Bolters were also favoured because of the ability to use different types of ammunition.Thats not why.It was a matter of the bolter was far easier to manufacture. Every single forge complex or manufacturing facility would hvae the ability to easily make bolts to supply the weapons. The matierals to make volkite chargers was far more specific and a pain in the ass to do. So they said fuck it, bolter time.
>>97681026Itd be some super souped up hotshot variant I guess?
>>97680862>RT Siege of Terrait still makes me laugh whenever I remember that Sanguinius and the BA being present at the Siege of Terra is technically a retcon from when there were only two loyalist legions, the Imperial Fists and White Scars, present for the Siege
>>97680607Think we'll get the giant flamer version?
>>97677083Unlike a volkite, a bolter can serve multiple roles with a simple swap of munitions. There's several bolts with improved penetration and range, there's ones with fragmentation effect to deal with hordes. There's all manner of mutagenic and acid rounds to kill large creatures, etc. Complex energy weapons can also be more prone to damaging if they contain sensitive electronics. Considering volkites are almost completely lost by M41 while bolters of all shapes and sizes serve across the Imperium tells you how much that "superiority" mattered on the long run.
>>97681447>Considering volkites are almost completely lost by M41 while bolters of all shapes and sizes serve across the Imperium tells you how much that "superiority" mattered on the long run.Yea, thats because volkites are difficult to manufacture and therefore fell out of general use. As a gun they are superior, as a weapons platform they were too expensive for even the pre-heresy imperium to use as the default, and the imperium of 40k is a pale shadow of the pre heresy imperium. This is like comparing the f-35 to the spitfire. One is a better plane, the other is much cheaper to build and maintain.

Lazers you
>>97681484>This is like comparing the f-35 to the spitfire. One is a better plane, the other is much cheaper to build and maintain.Except a bolter can compete with a volkite. A better comparison would be to compare the M60 and the M63. M63 was more complex to manufacture and required much more maintenance to keep operational, despite this it offered a lot of firepower in a handheld form. So it saw most of its use with units like Navy SEALs who made great use of them, since they didn't spend weeks in the bush with limited logistics.
Convince me to come back over to Heresy
>>976815473.0 is genuenly really good for 1-1.5k games
>>97681527>A bolter can compete with a volkiteNot really, the volkite is a superior weapon. The bolter can still be stopped by armor, the Volkite literally cooks things in their armor and causes them to explode. Volkite from a lore stand point is 100% a better weapon then then bolter a standard issue battle field weapon.

I'm relatively new to the Heresy, I played some 2nd ed and haven't read the books past Descent of Angels. But I've been told that some of the Primarchs like Perturabo and Ferrus Manus have absolutely no character to them at all. Is this true? Are there are Primarchs that don't get properly developed? I think the concept of Primarchs is really cool.
>>97682451Ferrus Manus gets hyped up a lot later in the books after his death to make losing him feel more impactful even though in every scene he's in he acts like an angry manchild. Similar reason to why Sanguinius is just the best at everything, he dies at the end so if he was just mediocre it wouldn't mean as much.
