I've got my own Space Marine Chapter going, and I wanted to make their Chapter symbol a lock. They're Dark Angels successors who feel like they haven't earned the Lion's forgiveness so they're super big on penitence and suffering and all that, the lock symbolizes imprisonment, that they are bound to their sins, chastity, etc. So I figured when I've got most of them painted I'd reach out to a third party transfer maker and have a sheet of locks printed up and do them all in one go.But last night I was flipping through an old White Dwarf where they had like 20 different homemade Space Marine Chapters, and like four of them used the gate symbol from Greywater Fastness.And I realized, that's almost just as good, it fits all the themes for my Chapter while being less explicitly horny, and I already have a couple of those transfer sheets from when I painted up some Living City guys.I feel a bit foolish because the solutions right there, but also a bit basic for using somehting that so many other people have realized is a good Space Marine symbol
