/tg/, I want to be a sorcerer pretending to be a wizard, how do I go about this class-wise? And feel free to post your epic character concepts too.

You don't

Play a good game instead of D&D.

How is this even a question? Carry around a bunch of books and use words that sound arcane/complicated even if you don't actually know what they mean. You're a charisma-class, so you should be able to lie convincingly.

That or just do like other Anons have said. Stop playing D&D if you want to play anything more interesting that a bog-standard D&D character. The game (especially modern versions) are based on tropey stereotypes for brainlets. If you want actual roleplaying and interesting character ideas, look at systems that AREN'T based on classes and other outdated D&D'isms.
>>
Why didn't you post your wacky meme character idea that depends on nu-D&D's retarded classes in the relevant general?

How do I fake the enrollment in the Wizard's Academy, inscribe spellbooks, and other things that a wizard would do vs. a sorcerer? This is supposed to improve my social status.
>>

My epic concept is a Barbarian that is a literal bear. He uses intimidation to make everything act like he's human.
He uses bear puns when fighting enemies like
-Can you bear this?
-Time to hibernate
-Bear my powerful strike
Ofc this is bear language so all people hear are bear noises.
Pretty funny huh?
>>
>>97696399
Why not have a gnome bard/druid/ranger somewhere on or about his personage who casts Animal Messenger to make the bear speak for him and pretend he's the barbarian?
>>
I want to play as a Bardic Natural Philosopher.

DnDrones have brain damage and mental retardation that makes them even worse at sticking to their containment threads than Warhammer 40Kids

I don't think there's a way to become a sorcerer, but you can still pretend to be a wizard. I don't know of any classes or even schools that would help you become a sorcerer. Try to get in touch with a shadow organization or the dark web, I guess.

>the pig didn't like that

>>97696251
You know, you’d think the martial classes would give wizards more respect. I mean, sure they’re noodily-armed nerds that can’t lift and do weird magic, but they did put in the hard work to get those weird magic powers, you gotta respect the effort at least. Certainly more than the other caster classes that got a free ride into power.

Also explains why young wizards go adventuring. Have you SEEN their student debt?!
>>
>>97696384
>fake the enrollment
Forgery kits. You can also fake the diploma. Or you can just say that you apprenticed to some random wizard rather than going to a larger school, but that he tragically died and you're out to avenge him.
>inscribe spell scrolls
Any spellcasting class can scribe scrolls in 5e. Not that Wizards are routinely scribing their spells in front of strangers anyway. That shit takes hours and nobody is going to sit around watching to make sure you do it.

You just tell the DM that you're lying and then you fucking lie. Where's the hold up?
>>
>>97696303
What does playing a game have to do with OP being something? I mean, besides him being the donkey dick deepthroat champion?
>>
>>97697131
I don't know why D&D doesn't mechanically distinguish between wizards who went to university, the self-taught ones, the ones that were taught by various masters, etc better.
>>
What would you even do as a fake Wizard, what kind of roleplay would you get out of that?
>>
>>97696251
I know you're being ironic, but that concept is still better than the dumb shit seen on Reddit.

If you're not being ironic, then why is the sorcerer pretending?
>>
>>97696591
Good, general threads are stupid as shit
>>
>>97698259
D&D's "mechanics" are just "ask daddy DM for what you want and find a new group if you don't get it" and that's what makes it "the world's greatest TTRPG".
>>
>>97696251
I play as a rude Bard that shouts at people instead of holding up a spork and saying quips and puns. Can I join the Reddit subversion club?
>>
>>97696591
Nice projection, nogames.
>>
>>97696251
You're a Charisma caster, so Charisma is your chief stat. Fucking lie, tell them all you're a wizard and hold up a book (it can just be your diary where you record what a fucking fraud you are.)
>>
>>97698267
>>97698466
NTA, but one way I could see is if your sorcerous origin was something that the general public won't like. Like Fiendblood or something similar.
>>
>>97698466
Whats the worst you've seen?
Worst one was a villain that joined the party but is bad at it. With a reverse D20 system where low numbers make good things happen for the party.
>>
>>97699321
So like Merlin?
>>
>>97698466
Because he's a charlatan, he's essentially very intelligent but never went to school because he was from a poor family or without a family at all, and he discovered innate magical powers like every smart but lazy gamma male does eventually, therefore he just skimmed some books and pretends to be a wizard.
>>
>>97696251
I’m a big fan of a class pretending to be another class, so my epic concept would be a wizard school dropout. An adventurer who spent too much time partying and not enough time studying, resulting in their spellcasting power being very low but they make up for it with other, less cerebral talents. Where even though they are not really of the wizard class, they still insist upon being called a wizard or mage.
>>
>>97696251
Warlocks r gay and never should have been a class
>>
>>97696399
>-Time to hibernate
Is this where he takes a Hide action at the start of combat
>>
>>97696251
>I want to be a sorcerer pretending to be a wizard, how do I go about this class-wise?
You play a Sorcerer, but you carry a fancy book and you pretend like you're using it to prepare your spells at night like a Wizard would and protect it like your life depends on it. Sorcerers are Charisma based so put some points into Bluff to go with it, never roll Knowledge rolls just make some shit up and roll Bluff to pretend like you know shit like a Wizard would.

No it hasn’t

Seems pretty straightforwad.
Dress like a wizard, and keep a "spellbook".
Instead of spells, just doodle in your spellbook, ideally with crayons.
