In the War of Vengeance/War of the Beard, who actually carries the heavier burden of guilt? The arrogance of the High Elves or the stubbornness of the Dwarfs?

>The arrogance of the High Elves or the stubbornness of the Dwarfs?
Both, is the lame answer. This is what the high elves say themselves. Despite their supposed arrogance, they fully admit that they carry some of that fault, but it was also the wrath and stubborness of the dwarfs that lead to the escalation.
Dwarfs only blame the elves because they lack introspection and can never admit ever doing anything wrong.
>>
>>97730666
Crazy how High Elf fans manage to sound like they're on the pedestal even when they admit blame.

how come black skaven in mordheim are more sneakier assassin type martial artists with access to more assassin type weapons? i thought black skaven were the biggest strongest rats that became the brute muscle of the stormvermin or whatever.

i know mordheim is all clan eshin, but how does being bigger and bulkier aid the black skaven in being eshin assassins?? shouldn’t the littlest nimblest rat rise to become the assassins? the blackies could just be guards and things
>>
>>97731904
>shouldn’t the littlest nimblest rat rise to become the assassins? the blackies could just be guards and things
As someone who gets most of his Skaven lore from Gotrek and Felix, I think it's because Skaven at all skill levels are incompetent retards so having a strong incompetent retard is probably better than having a nimble one, at least when trying to kill people.
>>
>>97731286
>What's the general opinion on using the AoS snake ladies (blood sisters, I think they're called) as a base to kitbash Slaanesh-themed centigor proxies?
Not sure if they'll fit very well. Some of them have their snake-bodies spread out a bit wide.
>>
>>97731904
I can only assume it's selective breeding? That in Eshin they let those who excel at the clan's most desired traits reproduce and mix it up with the status symbol that is black fur? So they have their superior, healthier, Stormvermin stock at the start, but instead of selecting for strength and toughness they select for wits for dexterity and nimbleness

...And also still selecting for strength to some degree, because contrary to what STR vs DEX shitposting says, a strong frame and strong limbs are actually really useful for an assassin.

Here’s a wayshrine I set up for a 1.5k Skaven V-chaos then a 2v2 Skaven and Tomb kings vs 2 wayward chaos warbands. (750pts battlemarch)

This happened over the weekend just gone and it was great, probably because Skaven triumphed most successfully against chaos the first time, and had a glorious showing the second time. - much closer game though but in the end engineer Skritz bullshit pulled through.
(I trusted In the horned rat and rolled fireball in the team game, so ruby ring, skitterleap and fireball) - made sense to use the doomrocket engineer to represent this mad rat
I’ll post a couple of pictures anyway.

Warpstone technology anon- it’s a marvel.

Here’s a neat picture of the 2v2.
The skaven beelined for the ruin and infested it with giant rats, a rattling gun and a block of clanrats. Everyone was too scared to charge the rats behind a fence, so in the end they exploded outward with a disorganised charge vs some almost wiped warrior unit - won the combat thanks to chieftan halberd- overran into the next chaos unit, broke them the next turn, who then caused a panic as they fled through the chaos warriors behind them, the rats then Overran into the chaos warriors 2 unit, broke them and caused them to flee- overran Into the still fleeing chaos warriors 1 unit ,eating them, then in the final turn charged the last chaos warlord and with the aid of verminous valour stabbed the shit out of him and ran off.

It was a glorious application of violence, and the sight of chieftan Gnaw-shield - with just a halberd herding 2 screaming units of chaos warriors across the board was comical to behold

>>
>>97732165
Here’s turn 1 chaos. (They took the first turn)
Some other highlights include the warp lightning cannon putting the fear into chaos(everyone hates it).
1 khornite chosen knight surviving many shootings as the rest of his unit fell and obliterating the following: 8 skeleton horseman in one round, overran Into gutter runners who had killed the rest of his unit and Merced them, took 3 fireballs and couldn’t be stopped- this berserk madman ran across the backline even tanking a warp lightning shot before charging and killing the warp lightning cannon and overrunning again before a combined nehekharran and Skaven shooting phase finally stopped him.I believe khorne aught to be most pleased.

Other fun things were engineer Skritt Fizzclick being upgraded to lvl 2 for once meant he rolled fireball, skitterleap, ruby ring. The doomrocket model was most appropriate here. Absolute menace as he teleported around doing some grade A bullshit.

Oh yes, an alliance of the ages- in this case made by one junior tomb priest who sought power and glory.
tby the end of round 6 one horse archer cav unit yet survived and only the ambitious tomb priest (having left his unit and stood in a narrow alley between 2 houses, in the final turn the stormvermin quietly blocked the street behind him, and lowered their halberds.
The rattling gun turned to watchthe other end of the street.
I guess we will never know for sure how the alliance ended.

I'll probably put together a few bottom halves and slap them on a few different bases to see what works. If they don't fit well or rank up on the standard centigor base, then I'll either use them as a homebrew unit or as parts for another project.

Played a 2000 PTS game today. My empire Vs warriors of chaos. Got massacred pretty bad. Didn't really have anything to deal with his dragons. Demigryphs and road wardens performed the best. State troops died slow, outriders threw a lot of dice with nothing to show for it. My opponent was a good sport, advising my against making bad moves and I tried to return the favour by reminding him that he had an unit in ambush etc. He had a stronger list and better grasp of the rules, stacking buffs on his heroes and central block of chaos warriors.
>>
>>97735690
Did you not bring any cannons? Unfortunately they are kind of needed in the environment we find ourselves in. Is that a neoprene mat? They've improved quite a bit if that's the case.
>>
>>97733093
Odds are pretty low, I would assume they just pushed it back. Considering Krawlmaws (the new named Beastmen shaman) whole thing is that he is looking for the reincarnation of Morghur. It would make sense for him to find him next edition potentially.
>>

I gotta disagree the new ghosts are by and large very well executed. Death is probably where aos does best. Though the problem is they split vc into like 3 different armies and two of them don't really work since they're too narrow, but that's another discussion.

not this monday, the monday after the reveals, or the one after the next, as they might use the first slot for blood bowl or necromunda first
>>
>>97735790
Blood Bowl just got a high elf team like a week or two ago. It's been a while for Necromunda I guess.
>>
>>97735756
That's interesting cause while cannons are obviously great, I have always found mortars good and volley guns bad. Mortars (and bombards in general) get way better the denser the enemy is, as in number of total units. Aiming near the center of the army and letting it scatter into anything was always pretty good. Volley guns needing to roll to hit is what makes them ass.
>>
>>97735756
The banshees are fine but I never liked the old spirit hosts. Not that the end times ones are much better desu. But yeah I quite like the nighthaunt range, if only it weren't so samey. Different strokes for different folks etc etc

On the one hand I think it would be nice if the thread would actually talk about the old models more. There's a lot of discussing that can be done, from both a historical and artistic perspective, about the Citadel range over the years. On the other, I don't really care which models the people I play with bring to the table/anons talk about so long as they look nice and my opponent/the anons isn't/aren't being butthole(s). I definitely don't want people like you shitting up the thread, though. Well, it's not like individuals threads can really have specific rules, after all.
At the end of the day, should a thread about Warhammer Fantasy be focused on discussing Citadel miniatures? Why is there one very annoying poster who just so happens to constantly shriek about a specific range of historical models that was sculpted by two dudes who used to work for GW and post naked pictures of himself when he can't win the arguments he starts? Answers to all these questions, and more, never.

>>97735690
demonology can do some pretty rude things for warriors of chaos, but Hellblasters often keep them honest (if you lack cannons) -and Loveee shooting into blocks of 24 chaos warriors like that(bring an engineer with a repeater handgun to reroll artillery dice, or BS increase) . The other thing you can do is build your characters to be cheap and also champions everywhere-

remember that if a character in a challenge kills their opponent their mount does not get to attack- meaning if you are lucky your champion denied the full 5 overkill and you win on CR when they just charge your front like goobers (bring war banner or something) -infact bring a bsb
https://tow.whfb.app/characters/challenges-and-mounts

I also adore road wardens(with max pistols) and they regularily perform amazingly

Good luck anon, a cheeky cannon and a volley gun supported by an engineer should be the next expansion of your army

>Another rumor points to that for Wood Elves versus Tomb Kings actually (as hinted at in the WOSF book). But I could see this as well.
I kind of believe that rumor too. So I guess maybe it won't be a starter box, maybe just a versus box? Both of Cathay's battalions being removed is genuinely surprising/interesting. What did they actually mean by this?
>>
>>97740873
I think with the release of Peasants and the new army list making Jade Lancers special (on top of them being pretty shit) I think they want a box thats mostly core. So they'll get peasants, jade warriors, and a cannon/cannons instead.

The Great Plan promised this to us 3000 years ago
>>
>>97740977
Neoprene mats have come a long way but making a table is a bit of work. It's not difficult but it does take time and a space that can get a bit dirty. Transporting Tables is a pain in the ass too, not really worth it unless you plan on hosting games at your place.
>>
>>97740977
Neoprene battlemats are convenient and allow people to play more games. They've replaced the old grassmat or green felt mat, and in some ways tihs is unfortunate, but in others it is quite nice. Call it democratization (the non-faggot definition of the term, naturally) or simplification or whatever you will. Neoprene mats are fine. If you don't like them, don't play on them.
>>
>>97740997
>are fine

>>97741019
>I'm thinking about leaving it at the shop on one of the tables which is permanently covered in a ugly neoprene mat
Oh yeah it's definitely worth it if you're willing to put in the time and work. You can make it as simple or extravagant as you want.
>>
Dunkino Peasant. First time seeing one that close, I like that they are very lanky.
>>
>>97741019
Great is good. Great is nice. Great is sometimes not a standard that can always be maintained. 100 fines could be argued to be better than 5 greats, especially in the context of what these neoprene mats are being used for, which are tournament and store games.

Hello frens, how popular is TOW out in the real world? I'm looking to get into fantasy and actually play games I have begun assembling my skeltal lads into a wee army. Please excuse my old man attempt at image editing and lack of regimented boners.
>>
>>97741598
It depends on where you're at. I can declare that Ottawa has a healthy WHFB scene, but yours might be better or worse. It all depends! Check out your local games stores and ask around IRL.
>>
>>97741598
Like any game its region dependent. But it’s quite healthy. https://www.oldworldrankings.com/ has information on tournaments and who’s performing well with what lists/armies. Also I assume you’re aware but I think those skeletons are on too small bases for TOW. It’s 25mm not 20mm. So you’ll have to use adaptor trays.
>>
>>97741598
>how popular is TOW out in the real world?
Depends on where you live. Some places it’s booming, some places it dead, some places fantasy battle was more popular than tow but tow ended up killing both scenes.
>>
>>97741598
Pretty good out in Chicagoland, active scene in and near the city. Milwaukee and Indiana are good too.
>>
>>97741598

>>
>>97741729

>>
>>97741343
agreed, it's over-realism I think with overly creased clothing and proportional limbs. It's also happened with other ranges like Horus Heresy where stuff like the new custodes or terminators which used to be top heavy with short arms got lankified and slenderized and it looks totally out of place and uncanny valley, immediately becoming third party tier. The Bret knights at arms are probably the most blatant example so far.
>>
How come no one else ever plays dress up when they game like historical grogs do?
>>
>>97742738
we do, you don't, you're missing out, probably because you have no friends or can't fill adult clothes
>>
>>97742738

>>
>>97742865

>>
>>97742540
The biggest issue is that now they've got an army of in-house sculptors, all of them on the younger side, each focusing on specific projects.
Back in the day they were just a handful and their style and skills grew with GW, they often collaborated between them, and the design, sculpting, fluff and rules department were very close, overlapping at times.

Like, you can tell there is some Sisters of battle DNA in the new brets, but they still feel disjointed from the rest of the range. Digital sculpting has also changed the design process, as new models come out needlessly complex
>>
>>97742983
My only complaint with the digital sculpts is that they don't know how to make cloaks anymore. I don't care about the extra detail or gubbinz but the cloaks have been bad ever since they switched to digital sculpting. The rest imo is objectively superior.
