https://boards.4chan.org/tg/thread/97670817#topgo there you piece of shit spammer
Learned yesterday that Pirotess was actually introduced by the OVA, and was not part of the original D&D campaign, nor its Replays, nor the early novels.
>>97741661dark elf coded vehicle
>>97741852Correct. She was intended to be a counterpoint to Deedlit. What's even more fun to twist your noodle around is that she appeared (under a new name to make it a twist that it's her) in the Legend of Crystania movie (1995) and OVA sequel series BEFORE she was added to the Lodoss novels in 1996.So only Jap fans who read the Crystania novels that started in 1993 would know about the twist and that Pirotess and Ashram aren't supposed to die like they do in the OVA.And the Chronicles of the Heroic Knight TV series wouldn't come out until 1997 to correct the final few episodes of the OVA to follow the novels better. Piro and Ashram live and leave Lodoss with the people of Marmo, Orson dies, Shiris marries some dragon rider nobleman.
>>97742297Dark elves are slav mafiosos?
>>97741852>>97742377pretty amazing that they managed to create such a good and iconic design for such a minor character
>>97742384The OVAs may not have had a huge budget but they had people working on it who cared about what they were making and that passion shines through. It's rare to get that now with how corporatized anime has become. One Punch Man season 1 is a more recent example of a passionate crew pouring their all into their work. Just compare to how dogshit season 2 and 3 are in terms of production value.
>>97742417>>97741852Wait I always thought Pirotess's eyes were green for some reason.
>>97742431She does. In some shots. I've always considered the gold in >>97741852 as the correct color/baseline because it's a daytime shot with even lighting. She tends to be drawn with green eyes during night shots, where the blue tint of the lighting may play into things.
Or when she's in the volcano surrounded by red light, her eyes are bright red (like a proper drow) but again, could be seen as the lighting affecting things.
>>97742460>>97742456>>97742450So you're saying Deedlit is better because the animators actually cared to keep her eye color consistent?
>>97741686
Wow, I don't give a single fucking shit about this particular animu bimbo that just so happens to have pointy ears.Traditional games?
>>97742383Makes sense.>>97742531Is it meant to be driven by elves or is it a personification of elves?
>>97741852I am curious though, how would her character sheet be?
>>97742660It's used by elves to transport humans to their world.
>>97742748She has stats in the sword world rpgiirc7 Levels of Shaman, 7 Levels of Fighter, 4 Levels of Thief, 4 Levels of RangerShaman is like their druid equivalent.Deedlit has similar level distribution, but I think she had more shaman levels than fighter levels.
>>97742919Ah here we go
>>97742460>Tiny nipple deleted this fast>hours if not days of shitposting in other threads completely ignoredThese jannies couldn't be bigger faggots with three dicks in their mouths.
>>97742748Going by sword world stats and trying to convert.Humans roll 4d6 for every stat, getting stats between 4 and 24, Elves roll in similar ways but still top out at 24.Elves have higher average dexterity and agility, but then a much lower ceiling for strength.Just taking the equivalent stats and multiplying by 0.75 to get dnd numbers I end up with7 strength17 intelligent15 wisdom18 dexterity10 constitutionand no equivalent for charisma.I'd still base it on mental power for pirotess but go slightly lower, so 14 charisma. Now she has 23 Dexterity and 24 Agility in sword world stats.if rolled legit then Pirotess would've rolled2d6+12 for both of them, 1 short from perfect, but she basically has 1 perfect dex roll and then another almost perfect dex roll.I think you use that to justify giving her the dnd elf bonus and bump her Dexterity up to 19.
>>97742931I wish they were as fast with other pornographic images.
>>97740166>completely new crewI'm guessing you found a group at the FLGS, instead of the game Ferris' player was gonna run?
>>97743866Ferris player ain't gonna run a game for some time because she's busy with studies. I was at a friend gathering and one guy I knew for like 12 years but never really hung out with was like "yo, I saw your Arrianne work and that you play D&D. We need +1".Don't know the guy or his table so we'll see how it goes. The whole table is bunch a guys in their mid 30s who play very long with each other so it will either work or it wont depending on how I fit in.It's gonna be a political campaign. Our PCs come from a noble house and we have to work together in some kind of DMs original setting in some Game-of-Thrones situation. Picrel were my three ideas for the PC. Last night we gathered for second session 0 because we had to figure out how our clan works and how our PCs are related to each other. I'm gonna be playing the diplomat barbarian in the end.
>>97742383eastern european and middle eastern diaspora in car taste, so mercedes, BMW and audi. Not necessarily in the best conditions
Is the war finally over?
>>97741852The OVA was pretty far removed from the original game session pretty much across the board.
>>97744091the actual plays were actual plays, not critical role style game-themed theater. I think Parn died like halfway through from a bad roll. That's why they had to be rewritten when they wrote the novels and made the animated stuff to create a more coherent and pre-determined narrative.Record of Lodoss war should be considered inspired by play
>>97744072We march on to victory.

You literally don't give a fuck about elves unless there is a human attached to them.Sad.
>>97742919>>97742929Oh yeah, Sword World RPG. I knew it came about out of Lodoss War but didn't come to mind that the characters would have stats of their own.>>97742996That's actually a pretty solid conversion to 1st ed.D&D. Strength might be a bit too low imo, but everything else seems reasonable.Thanks.
>>97742525He's not saying it, but I am. :)
>>97744900>blue eyes there>green eyes in showYeah, they didn't care about Deedlit's consistency either.
Menbros...
>>97744873>Strength might be a bit too low imo,Yeah Elves have very low strength in sword world. They roll 1d6 and 1d6(with half the results rounded up.So they get 2-10 strength and Pirotess got 9.Elves have higher averages in most stats, but lower max life force and strength. If you read stats by function, sword world rpg Dexterity is used for using weapons like dnd Strength, you could maybe have that influence the strength stat and use more of Agility as a parallel for dnd strength. I'd probably just give her a finesse trait like later dnd though, and say she gets +to hit from Dexterity instead of strength. You could go by adjustments. But where dnd starts with -3 from adjustments, sword world starts at 0 so it looks very different.Maybe through that you could reason that 7 or less in a stat in dnd, is the same as 1 in a stat sword world. The implication being that if you have 7 strength(dnd stat), you'd never be an adventurer in sword world.I don't really like that though. Doesn't look good when I try to slot those stats into dnd 1e/2e adjustments.
>>97745099forgot pic
>>97744072>>97744318You and Arianne are the only good parts of this general.
>>97745107>>97745099it is two different games so it doesn't surprise me that it doesn't translate very well. You'd need to have pretty deep understanding of the mechanics in both games to translate the stats to the same chances of success in both games, and even then D&D has some things that sword world doesn't and vice versa. This does make me want to play sword word too, I've actually asked around a bit but no takers
>>97747408>it is two different games so it doesn't surprise me that it doesn't translate very well. You'd need to have pretty deep understanding of the mechanics in both games to translate the stats to the same chances of success in both games, and even then D&D has some things that sword world doesn't and vice versa.I think it works okay, but you just kinda have to accept that Sword World elves are much weaker than Dnd elves, which goes against what I know of elves so it's jarring. It's not like Pirotess is a burly woman so maybe the low strength isn't that odd.>This does make me want to play sword word tooThe stat rolling system is intriguing.Like no one human will roll 4 Life Force and 24 Strength, since they have overlap in rolls.Having some overlap for Con and Str might be nice.Rolling 2d6 for each, and then 1d6 that is shared.
>Dunmer>Druchi>DrowWhy do dark elf endonyms always start with a D?Why are they so obsessed with D?
>>97747608The simpler answer would be because of the word "Dark" and its inital letter. Another explanation would be due to the residual link to the Old Norse word "Dökkálfar" (sing. "Dǫkkálfr"), which translates to 'Dark Elves' of which are seen in the Prose Edda.>Why are they so obsessed with D?Well... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)Who knows.
>>97744645>I'm curious how he intends to tackle whatever the situation is and what his morals are like.We shall see. I'm still trying to figure out his character due to original setting of DM. Have more art of Barbarian diplomat
>>97747518>I think it works okay, but you just kinda have to accept that Sword World elves are much weaker than Dnd elves, which goes against what I know of elves so it's jarring.>It's not like Pirotess is a burly woman so maybe the low strength isn't that odd.I don't think Deedlit and Pirotess are cripplingly weak either, but I can't recall them pulling off any feats of strength. What they do have is insane mobility, balance, jump height and distance as well as magic that doesn't follow the Vancian system.I don't know how sword world handles shamans but they way they get magical powers by communing with spirits is pretty cool. It's also such a fundamental part of their arsenal that it should be used constantly. Pirotess can turn invisible, walk on water and breathe underwater, for example. Deedlit has roughly the same powers. For D&D it might not be more difficult than to give them a bunch of spells they can activate at will with a couple of turns preparation

>>97749037Deedlit is a pretty potent summoner too. In the tv series even capable of summon the king of the wind.
is this /a/? all you guys talk about is lodoss war
>>97749117Fun thing is, they do the exact same on /v/.There is another Deedlit/Pirotess thread on /v/ and they sure as fuck aren't talking about video games.Mods love it. The topic of elves was ruined a long time ago by shitposters, elf-haters and horny retards.
>>97749007Reminds me of this Titans guy from Gundam. What has the DM revealed of the setting and the specific area its taking place in so far? Besides noble houses and some kind of GoT situation.I was gonna say what would his armor look like but hes a barbar lol. Perhaps ceremonial clothing would be doable instead.
>>97749117Doesn't come up in every thread
>>97749607that's a lie and you know it
>>97749117Throughout this thread, you've done plenty of complaining; then let me tell you this:What of it? There's absolutely no issue in talking about a series whose origins began with tabletop gaming (and which is still connected to, if you were paying close attention to the thread). This is not /v/, and yet I haven't seen a single complain about the postage of TES elves; nor is this /lit/, and yet I wager very few would bat an eye if someone were do discuss Toller's elves. If you want to post other elves, or discuss another thing then do so. I myself will keep posting and discussing elves, at my leisure.

>>97749117/a/ only cares about seasonal crap. Also deal.
>>97744386That's just a wood elf>>97750235We're SO close reee!>>97749184>What has the DM revealed of the setting· The whole world is separated into people doing basic shit and basic magic (what would be classical D&D magic system) and people doing proper so called "old" magic (world shaping, continent shaping, planar gates, shit like that)· Most of society is illiterate by design as rulers hold power by limiting what kind of knowledge is transfered and accumulated· There is only one officially allowed language with one severely reduced script meant for basic run of society like bookkeeping· The world is separated into 6 tiers of society with a city suspended in air (Shimmering City) imbued with magic ruling above everyone and everything, visible to anyone and everyone around the world· Everyone's endgame in the world is to send someone to the Shimmering City. Having a person from your clan, country or region go there even for a brief visit is considered an extremely high privilege· Our clan is governing a small settlement on a somewhat major trade road on the outer border of our country/state· Our clan specialized in bookkeeping and has a limited license to print/transcribe/keep certain magic and history books· Our clan consists of two family branches, one "exiled/denied" clan with the oldest member being our half-elf PC and second, younger "main" branch where my PC ( younger brother to the clan ruler) and 3rd PC is (son of ruler, main successor to the clan)
>>97751707I'm missing some kind of adventure hook here.
>>97751733The premise is that something will happen that will kickstart the game of thrones scenario, so first couple of sessions will probably be just introduction to the world and how everything works
>>97751707Kinda seems like this society would probably be a magic police state lol. Super Mage Lord takeover. Definitely see how it lines up for a political game tho. Theres potentially so much power at the higher levels, along with room with intrigue by secretly gathering up forbidden stuff and history. If I had to guess a lot of other Clans work would be policing the mid and lower tiers. Spotting contraband. Talking down, or probably smashing down, slave revolts. But also fucking over the other Clans who step too far out of line, and Clannism fighting for goodies. The greatest danger to the PCs might be those given authority to police the higher tiers and anything that comes across their path. Status to fuck with anything below them.A diplomat barbar focusing on personal and clan honor might be nice. Or maybe hes more cutthroat and sees the game for what it is. An order of Clan struggling against Clan imposed by City to keep them occupied.

When dark eldar have atrophied psychic powers but eldar can still use theirs would a come between them have psychic powers?I don't think it is biological, but because psychic powers invites slanesh to nom their soul so they get suppressed from a young age>I recall reading some snippet from a book in which an eldar baby could use telepathic powers just fine>Which makes me wonder how they keep their babies from using those powersBut eldar didn't get eaten because their souls are kept in their stones However I'm confused because harlequin farseeers don't have spirit stones but they don't get eaten either?
>>97755365The lore might be genuinely confused about that.Harlequins are not safe from Slaanesh's grip. Cegorach protects their souls, he fights Slaanesh over them, but it's not guaranteed. Also: using psychic powers doesn't mean you have daemons instantly spawn next to your crib. I think, people overestimate how much emotions are needed to get the ruinous powers corrupting your soul. A baby eldar might not have enough soul power, emotional depth and intellect to truly attract chaos.I'm pretty sure it's indeed not biological for dark eldar. There are supposed to be eldar in Commorragh still practicing their powers, illegally.I would want to know if there is a dark eldar that joins a craftworld and starts using his psychic powers again. Can't remember if there is such an individual.
>>97755390There is at least one deldar like that
Ok im gonna be this dude againIn a world full of orcs, demons, ogres etc...with way superior muscle strenght why would an elf use a sword? I believe they would use arrows (duuh) and spears. Because spears can create the distance needed and parry the attacks.pic somewhat related
>>97756141Define "use", because you can carry more than one weapon on you. You can carry a sword and a spear, or a bow and a sword. Bow and spear are apparently difficult to combine. Who did this historically? Wasn't it the Persians? Furthermore, you can use weapons in different contexts. A personal theory, but I believe that most of the time, a weapon is carried in a civilian environment to be used to defend against potential danger around them. AKA other elves. A sword is still a good self-defense weapon to carry around. An elf doesn't need to fear orcs and demons when he's strolling around a city filled with other elves, humans and dwarves. In a battlefied situation, yes, sure. Give them spears. Like all other regular fantasy races. It's the most popular melee weapon for war and that logic should apply to elves as well.
>>97756141Elves are stronger than orcs in settings that aren't cringeDemons and Ogres can be cut, swords cut
>>97756141I mean look if we really want to be a pedantic asshole about this shit then races that are physically very strong like orcs or dwarfs would be the best archers because their strength would let them use bows with huge draw strength requirements that could puncture than a human/elf could. If you want your elves to be archers then just let it happen, no need to try and justify it with real world shit.
>>97757281You could also have elves use guns and exploit their superior vision and precision.
>>97757806Sure, why not.But elves don't have any maluses in strength in most systems, so nothing wrong with them using bows.Dwarves lack a bonus for strength in many systems as well
>>97758626they mostly get hit with a con malus

>>97769978Hence why >>97767598 is able to post about it without being blackbagged, although that post is wildly optimistic. That study extended the lifespan of mice by about 30-ish% and only covered one of many issues with age-induced damage.Once the tech is somewhat mature, the real class divider won't be knowledge, it will be pure finance. The treatments only add a decade or so at a time, need to be personalized and so will be labor intensive. That will force the price-point to be out of reach for 99% of the world population. The procedure will get cheaper over time, but that will be too late for us. We'll get to slave away our entire lives to make a handful of the biggest assholes in the world immortal. But with any luck, the world won't last long enough to reach that point anyway.
>>97770130That's just the attitude that leads to nothing getting done and ensures that the dark fate comes to pass. Everyone on the planet has every reason to feel invested in this project. It is like a pan-human Manhattan Project with universal implications. Those who would seek a Singularity event? This is the actual singularity event. Those who would seek deliverance? This represents deliverance. It is a culminating feat, and we now have the capacity to accomplish it.Congregate et accelerate.
>>97770200And for those who only care about money, it means you don't suffer a generational loss of skill and those who are skilled can become immeasurably more skilled via the vitality and the time to pursue further refinement. It is a turbo button for productivity. And an ever-living populace is a stable and ever-expanding consumer base in pursuit of improved living conditions and entertainment. Money. Lots of money.

The cool aspect of anonymous posting is that only the content of your post matters. You can have a garage filled with elf minis, doesn't make your slop any more valuable.
>>97770130Wrong way to think of it. The most vexing factory to finance right now is that people retire, which limits the labor pool and requires constant expenditure to train up skilled workers. If you could remove aging out of the population--or extend it by 30%--you could tighten the screws by an order of magnitude by pushing retirement back. Keep people in their prime earning years for an extra few decades. Moreover, however expensive anti-geron treatments might be, the medical expenses of dealing with end of life troubles are also huge. Imagine being able to get another 20 years of work out of someone for the cost of developing an effective system of treatment.Of course, you'd want to limit this to useful people, nobody benefits from deadbeats living forever--so you'd tie the treatments to some metric that lets you limit it to employed workers. Expect it to be something you voluntarily take out of your paycheck every month or have to buy a large private subscription to.
>>97770873so when are you going to post something of value?
>>97770915Funny how you seem to argue from the perspective of a planned economy. If someone works their whole life, invest their savings, and retire using their own money, and pay for life-prolonging from their own pockets, and also in general consume, then they actively contribute to society.I expect elves, giving they have the opportunity, would do the same. Elves might seem like a race of nobles and landlords, not because they necessarily are all of noble birth. But because they spend some decades and hundreds of years working or adventuring, and then spend the rest of their lives doing whatever the fuck they want without being a burden on anyone.
>>97770963I'm saying that even in the most constrictive and cynical societal and economic model possible it still makes sense to invest in longeivity treatments for the lower orders if it's possible. It's a no-lose scenario.

>>97787022>>97787751Most hate I see it's actually human men hating on male elves LOLThey can't even stand other male humans Women didn't really care, at least not as much as men think they doException being if both are interested in the same guy like it's Betty and VeronicaWhy do women have friends and guys only have people they hang with?
I have finally put together my new PC so have a scribble of Cute Redneck Elf's hometown

paged through sword world (1e english translation) and made this elf thief. The shaman spells are actually pretty cool for doing thief stuff and it's a very neat system actually. You can't pick dark elf as a race, but I think this would be a dark elf. She just needs a name!
>>97788618>Ain't that just Commorraugh? The Deldar tend to wear the grimdark on their sleeves, sometimes getting totally nonsensical with it. I'm more "turning the pretty girl with a flower in her hair into a living erotic topiary by having the flower grow and merge down through her body, fusing the two at a fundamental level so she serves as a good conversation piece in the garden".
>>97796348>when you're walking through the garden, notice her, and then she wakes up and starts singing>and then you hear the singing ripple from all around you, and you realize that the entire garden is just hundred or even thousands of girls that have all been warped into various botanical horrors
Where do all the elf slaves keep coming from anyway?
>>97796784The elven civil war between the seelie and unseelie courts. All prisoners of war are turned into women with magic, and sold to human lands.
>>97791936Holy fuck this has to be the single most retarded post I've seen on /tg/ today.
>>97770915>>97770963>>97771013>>97772923This is a bit off-topic, but anti-aging medicine that actually reverses the aging process will allow governments to reduce the healthcare budget by something like 30 to 50 percent, that's huge and that's why I think everyone is going to have access to it.It will also allow them to gut things like pensions and social security too though, which is another reason why they'll make it available to everyone.
>>97797170He is wrong about girls not hating other girls, they can be vicious. He's right about men hating male elves, they are seen as competition over female elves and them being good-looking guys makes the regular internet incel uncomfortable.
>>97797204>>He's right about men hating male elves, they are seen as competition over female elves and them being good-looking guys makes the regular internet incel uncomfortable.Dude, they're all fictional characters. Nobody who has at least reasonable control over their mental faculties actually "hates" something fictional. They might dislike said fictional thing, but hate is a very strong word.
>>97797220hoo boy you've never stepped into BG III/CRPG general >I can't believe Shadowheart cucked me with Halsin!or that one gacha game where people freaked out because in the continuation a girl mentioned a guy in her backstory
>>97797227That's not a male elf thing in particular, that's people not liking being cucked. Furthermore, they're obviously using hyperbole when they claim to hate this or that character for doing said cucking, because it's incredibly to type out some incendiary statement or another without really meaning precisely what they're saying.
I remember some anons getting extremely frustrated when they revealed Marazhai in Rogue Trader and that he wasn't a female deldar-fu.
>>97797261you forget all the people compalining because Owlcat hates human men because they can't date female elves in their games >which isn't trueor because they only give female characters male elves to date>which isn't true either
>>97797289>or because they only give female characters male elves to dateDid they even have male elves in their pathfinder games?
>>97797289That's GW anon. They have this brittish thing where, because D&D has female elf and human elf romances, they banned them.
>>97798832What are you on about. D&D has male elf and female human couples as well, and it feels like there are as many as male human and female elf (didn't count, just general impression).Warhammer too has a few male human and female elf couples, but contrary to D&D they are extremely rare in both variants, and they aren't really doing the family stuff. They are mostly just flings.Or dark elves raping poor human slaves
>>97799025I'm going on about GW, because it's on purpose. You only get female elf and male human in things they don't directly make themselves nor license out so WFRP.Its the same mentality where they think Chaos winning easily every setting is good writing.
>>97799025D&D's most famous couple is like Cattie-Vrie/Drizzt followed by maybe Lady Alustriel and whichever high elf prince she fucked to get half-elf babiesmale human x female elf is Artemis/Dahlia which didn't last and whoever Elminster bangedI don't care about Elminster to me he's some old dude's OP creepy self-insert, barely better than the isekai protagonists we get served and I wish people would stop sucking Ed's cock
>>97799025>Or dark elves raping poor human slavesoh no?!
>>97744164>I think Parn died like halfway through from a bad rolthey dragged him to the town to be revived, so it's not like it was an impactful death.Deedlit saved the party there though, just saying.
>>97756581this(and bows are strength weapons, like most weapons) >>97757281>>97757806you know what, let's keep on living in the dexfag lie after all
>>97797261That's because elf fans are merely elf woman fans, male elves are the ones that steal female elves from them
>>97800299they just thought it would be another waifu, schizo
>>97800207Bows are strength weapons in that they have a strength requirement, like all other weapons. However, to hit, it's mostly dexterity, perception and general hand-eye-coordination. You can't put more strength into the same bow, "powerdraw" is video game bullshit.Elves have normal, average strength in many systems and that's enough to draw powerful bows. Their bonuses to dex, and general accuracy is what makes them great archers (and ranged fighters overall).>>97800299Please don't lump us together with the waifufags and coomers. And yes, these kinds of people don't really like elves, they just like the idea of their self-insert sexing one.
>>97800439In reality there's more to it than just draw weight; the weight of the arrow, draw length and power stroke make a huge differenceIf you wanted to be realistic about it, the most effective archers could never be short-limbed races
>>97800439>Bows are strength weapons in that they have a strength requirement, like all other weapons. However, to hit, it's mostly dexterity, perception and general hand-eye-coordination. You can't put more strength into the same bow, "powerdraw" is video game bullshit. You have it backwards. EVERY weapon requires desxterity, agility, perception, hand-eye-coordination, speed and the whole general shebang of gymastic/sport prowess.Bows SPECIFICALLY need muscle power to draw so that they can shoot far enough, penetrate well enough, be effective. It's non-negotiable in one of the most uncompromising ways. I mean, pretty much all weapons also require you to have some body strength to be able to fight and comfortably being able to move the weapons, at all in addition to not be clumsy. Even daggers still need some power if you want to burry them deep into people. Various dexfag acrobatics moves even more, if you are trying to stab off-axis of movement so that there isn't that much kinetic energy behind the tip.But bow may be one that tests you strength more than average. Crossbows and their drawing tools were made pretty much to solve this. Bows are definitely not a weapon dexfag that dumped STR could use.
>>97800496>In realitYeah cool, you know how much work you have to do if you want a "realistic combat system" TM in your game? Not just about bows.Yet, I only hear this about bows.Strength requirements but hitting via dexterity/perception/hand-eye-coordination/ranged skill is already a really good way to go.If you want to bitch about D&D specifically: The problem is what other things Dexterity also governs. It was always a god stat.>>97800535>Bows SPECIFICALLY need muscle power to draw so that they can shoot far enoughYeah, that's the strength requirement. Being able to draw the bow doesn't mean you hit. Hitting is governed by your ranged skill, by your hand-eye-coordination.You don't aim better by powering your muscles. You don't put more power into your bow and suddenly your arrow, shot from the same bow, hits with more precision.Your next argument will be stamina.
>>97800556>Hitting is governed by your ranged skill, by your hand-eye-coordination.I didn't want to rant further but hitting is actually mostly about brain. You have to have that subconscious/"vibe" ability drilled in, to have neurons trained to be able to just instantly guess the optimal height adjustment and side adjustment when there is wind (so most of the time), to compensate for target's speed and motion if not static, etcThat's not dexterity, that's purely brain working, even though not on the conscious rational thinking level (which is good because you would never be able to do the analysis and guesses consciously in short enough time).
>>97800556>You don't aim better by powering your muscles. You don't put more power into your bow and suddenly your arrow, shot from the same bow, hits with more precision.>Your next argument will be stamina.Oh, I forgot to point it out too.Guess what happens when you don't have the strenght to comfortably pull the bow's string back and keep it drawn? Or when you are tired?Did you try shooting a bow? Actually, just imagine you are trying to shoot a gun but it's either too heavy or you are out of breath and as a result your hands are not steady. You know what's the result. Just think of shooting a bow of being even more unforgiving in this aspect, where you need to be stronger to hold it steady for good aiming.
the real trvke is that dump stats is a retarded mechanic. If a character has a super low basic attribute score that should matter
>>97800631>I didn't want to rant further but hitting is actually mostly about brainSo your ranged skill, your hand-eye coordination.Every type of movement and skill requires your brain. That's the "coordination" part of hand-eye coordination. Dexterity is defined as hand-eye coordination, among other things.>>97800660>Guess what happens when you don't have the strenght to comfortably pull the bow's string back and keep it drawn?Same with being unable to raise your sword to strike, due to a lack of stamina.>Did you try shooting a bow? Actually, just imagine you are trying to shoot a gunYes, both. Archery as a hobby for a short while, and shot guns in the military. Strength is important to retain a steady aim, to absorb the recoil. And for bows to draw the string to its full draw length. You can't put more strength into the bow past that draw length. You can't put 120 lbs into a 100 lbs bow. Once you are able to draw the bow, the only thing that makes you a better shot is better hand-eye coordination and perceptive skills. Our instincts, if you want to shoot with closed eyesMost systems don't really deal with stamina, aside from things like exhaustion status. Stamina would apply to swinging melee weapons around as much as it would to drawing a bow.
>>97800535You need to be strong to draw the bow, but your ability to draw the bow in no way governs your ability to actually hit targets with it.
>>97800751I think the bow strength problem goes beyond dump stats though, you had to be quite a bit above average if you wanted to use english long bow of course. If you use shorter bow with lesser pull strength it of course doesn't shoot as far and doesn't pierce as much.In any case I don't want to demand changes of rules or anything, but IMHO it's good that people have a vague idea of how unrealistic the rules are.If they don't then the kids go on to write the next generation of fantasy movies and books and you will have shit like knights tanks standing on the battlefield with a half-a-ton shield that magically attracts all the attacks of an incoming 100-head orc horde, while DPS characters dart around killing the enemies from the sides without them in any way diverting their attention from the tank. Oh wait, that's current anime/manga. (Course, IMHO it's stupid even if these meta mechanics become too pronounced in crpgs).
>>97800788See >>97800660
>Warhammer slop spamYou already have 5 threads in the catalog to talk about this slop. One of them is about muh couples in my shitty setting. You don't need to invade every thread with your garbage bin setting discussion.
>Pirotess off-topic garbageYou have a whole board for this bitch.
>>97800751Well, one of your attributes has to be the lowest, and each class has one or two attributes they'll rely on the most (plus race and other bonuses). The point of a dump stat, usually being intelligence or charisma, since most classes barely use those, is that it's useful to focus your energy on shit that matters and letting shit that doesn't decay.
>>97764421lol That reads like something that would make Noldorfag seethe so hard.
