What are your favorites? I loved The Night Below because you can TPK a well equipped 15th level party again and again with just two deepspawn. I also really like the Ruins of Myth Drannor, Dragon Mountain, Tale of the Comet, and Ruins of Undermountain. I can think of quite a few that I ran that were really fun. One that was terrible was return to the temple of elemental evil. Total dog shit and that's because monte cook couldn't develop a game to save his fucking pathetic life. How he ever had a career in anything other than being a sanitation worker, I'll never understand. He's never made one thing that was viable in any way. Not one. They are all mechanically junk
>>97744786My favorite one is the one that lets me play a game without having to beg for permission or listen to people talk for hours on end.
>>97744786Honestly I think 2024 starter box is peak. Making D&D into a board game that expands into the rest of the core rules is perfect.
>>97744786The Spelljammer sets are amazing: Adventures in Space, Astromundi Cluster and Warcaptain's companion. A billion maps and standees and cards and handouts. Some of the Forgotten Realms boxed sets are excellent. The Bloodstone Lands and Great Glacier are easily my favorites, just because they're my favorite region. But Menzoberranzen is also excellent.Dark Sun's Original, Revised and Ivory Triangle boxes are all amazing.Tales of the Lance was a fucking badass boxed set even though I hate dragonlance. Planescapes was good.Honestly so fucking many of the 2e box sets were amazing. GM screens, maps, standees, handouts galore, cards, and the books on top of 'em. It was a golden age and I wish box sets like those were still released. My beat-to-shit spelljammers related.
>>97744786Pretty much every Waterdeep iteration is excellent, barring Dragonheist. And Dragonheist even has some cool shit, it just needs to be heavily reworked.
>>97744786This looks like slosher I dropped off at the pool last night lmao
>>97751264Sounds painful
>>97744786I love Dead Gods for its weird deep lore planescape delve. Age of Worms was a great continent-spanning mega-adventure with a lot of callbacks to classic modules.
>>97755524I always wanted to play Dead GodsSorry I missed my chance
>>97755531You still can, the adventure is not strongly tied to D&D 2E rules. It's mostly a long narrative arc, though of course you'd have to convert some of the unique monster stats to whichever edition you play.
>>97755617I would have to run it and that would take all the mystique away. I'm a forever DM like most of you guys
>>97746400>Dragonheist even has some cool shit, ...does it?It was the first adventure I've played through where it felt like it was written by people who've never played D&D.Admittedly, we stopped playing it fairly early on, but I was left with strong doubts that there could be anything cool in it.
>>97755679>...does it?I mean at least they actually included a map of Waterdeep. WotC is stingy about their releases. 2e's box sets were fucking amazing. I can't get over how cheap and crappy WotC's releases are, in comparrison. Handouts, maps, standees--box sets used to be amazing and do so much to provide setting and tone and just flavor. Now you're lucky if your release even includes a single poster map.
>>97755780I guess that's something, at least. What keeps surprising me is how high the production values of 3rd party stuff has gotten in the last decade. Writing/Design aside, some of the add-ons for adventures in this post-kickstarter era are making WotC releases look even more skimpy.
>>97755849Agreed. The beedle and grim release for Spellammer is what the WotC collector's edition should'a been. It had ship cards, battlemaps, crystal sphere maps (or whatever WotC replaced the real cosmology with), city maps, miniatures... it was bitchin and exactly what WotC should be producing, if they want D&D to be rad again. I mean forget the minis--that's fine. But some printed cardboard and poster maps? Is it really so much to ask for?
>>97744786Night Below because it's set in the underdark and has cool abberations as the main villains and not cringe femdom elves.
