I like it a lot, too bad he's useless in commander.
Grandeur was exploring an interesting design space (legendaries that encourage people to run multiple copies), but people were already running multiple copies of high value legendaries anyway, and discarding a mediocre legendary to get some middling effect from a mediocre legendary is not really as valuable as just having a good legendary and a backup copy in case the current one ate dirt.I can understand their caution with the ability, but making weak legendaries that needed to draw into extra copies just to get abilities on par with legendaries that you didn't need to jump through hurdles for is a self-defeating mechanic. While it was neat that Tarox could win you the game by jumping out, discarding 3 copies, and hitting for 32, that's very much the definition of a Timmy-style Christmas land play.
>>97756322Sorry anon but the most interesting wotc can do now is print a 2 drop mythic that generates enough mana and card draw to replace itself while also advancing the board state massively

Say something nice about the lead game designer of Magic: the Gathering
>>97756322There weren't much high value legendaries in those days. The fact Dralnu got a deck named after him was notable because it was designed around a legend, and the only notable legends (outside Jitte, but that's not a creature) was Akroma, Spirit of the Night (the original Akroma), and Lin-Siivi
>>97756554Rosewater outranks him fyi

Literally what are you supposed to do against this once the player has a board of creatures and has ramped enough to cast + WUBRG Leo and any kind of board state of creatures? Once he becomes a problem, you either board wipe or remove Leonardo. This is a (You) problem, not a problem with the card. If you are complaining that he kills you with 9 invested mana, you need a reality check. 9 mana should win you the game.
>>97756929Look, usually I'm against just play removal, but that's against threats that come out t1-3 and need immediate removal. That shit is way more telegraphed and can be dealt with in numerous ways during mid game. Boardwipes exist for stuff like this.

I feel like it's extremely unfair that I have to learn how to BUILD a deck before I can learn how to PLAY the game at a reasonable level. This disproportionately effects people like me in vulnerable demographic groups. All of the "reveal cards off the top of your library until X condition" cards should be condensed to a keyword, I made a fake card as a proof of concept. This way WOTC has a lot more room to print "Do this only once per turn" and "Activate only as a sorcery" on cards!
>>97757313He's not as good as the regular jellybean, but he can be fun. He requires you to lean heavily into WUBRG spells that you can semi-cheat out with his ability. Ideally you want spells that are 3CMC in 3 colors so you can play them for free. You can also go the alt route and just bank up all the mana as black mana to slam with after a few turns.
>>97757347I support it, but the problem with keywords is that you need a variation for effects that put the unused card to your graveyard, or put the card you find directly to the battlefield, or exile them, or a combination of different resolutions. Then people may confuse the keywords (see: Madness and Mayhem).

>>97760287Grandeur is from Future Sight (So old it's not even on that graph). It also is very notable for being a Mechanic that literally can not function in commander, despite only ever being printed on legendary creatures, since it requires you to discard a card with the same name as it to get the effect.Essentially, it's a mechanic designed to make a legendary creature in your hand a dead card if you already had it out

Legend creep was happening steadily for years, Dominaria/Spark annihilated any idea of restraint, and afterward the average per set steadily rose even if individually some were less than others. It doesn't matter that we're hitting higher highs with UB, the problem started with UW and pretending it didn't just exposes you as a biased brainlet.
>>97761398>selectively leave out the parts that prove it is true That’s literally a graph for the exact same period but stopping at OTJ so you don’t see the double to triple increase in legends in the subsequent UB sets.Oh you also seem to have condensed your data points so it’s look more like a curve and split set blocks into their thirds so you can have a much lower starting pointSeems like you’re the one being selective there budWe done here?

You dumbasses are asserting UB created the legendary bloat problem. This is demonstrably, empirically, objectively untrue. The problem started with UW sets. I'll repeat it because you retards have reading comprehension difficulties but UB HAVING MORE LEGENDARIES ON AVERAGE IS IRRELEVANT TO YOUR ARGUMENT. The data is right here, and the fact that youre too piss-scared to put the UB sets into your own graph shows that you know it undermines your argument
>>97761498
>>97761504Okay.
How do you deal with this? I had an insolent pair of players decide to team up, and when one guy combo'd out after the other used his control to cement the win, they both handshaked on the win. >>97761520>Only ONE can winbut one player did win>nooooo people can't kingmake!!i assure you if the pod doesn't want you to win they will be able to do so with regularitythat's why edh is best played with something on the line for winning, much to the chagrin of casualfags (pizza, a bet, bragging rights that you can win without collusion and that it takes 3 to beat you, whatever)

>>97761498>This graph >>97760287 # plainly shows that Legendaries have actually been pretty consistent over the years with a couple rare spikesIf you ignore the actual numbers and just look at the picture, yeah you're right. Look closer dumb dumb: before Theros it was rare to even hit 15+. After Theros 20+ became more common. After DOM 30+ became more common, and after United we didn't even drop below 20 again until Duskmourne. You're focused on how the graph looks. I'm focused on the numbers. And the numbers prove the average of legendaries per set began to go up significantly (100%+) in UW sets and on average have stayed high every time they do. You don't understand how growth and trends work.>Even then, the UB spikes are colossal, each higher than the highest ever spike in Dominaria, and actually accounting for more Legendaries than in all the in-universe sets in the previous 2 years combined.Yes, they are. And no one is arguing UB doesn't have the highest amount of legendaries to date. That was NEVER what your argument was. Your argument is UB ruined the game by creating legendary bloat. I am refuting that because the numbers don't lie, and the numbers say that the trend started and accelerated long before UB existed. That is what the argument and debate is about. It's like you started an argument about when you started to go bald, and you discount the fact you started balding at 21 because you only recently hit the Norwood VI and are claiming you only recently became bald when your ass was Norwood IV 5+ years ago. IT'S NOT ABOUT HOW HIGH. It's about WHEN. THAT IS YOUR ARGUMENT. Jfc how many times do I have to repeat myself?Stop. Being. Stupid.

>>97765246Armageddon will destroy all lands, this gideon will tick up and die
I was told having this combo in my Sephiroth deck makes it bracket 4 because I can win turn 4 with it, but it's a 3-card combo so it should still be fine anyway right? The bracket system specifically says no early 2-card combos, implying that early 3-card combos are generally fine since they're harder to assemble? But then again one of the combo pieces is my commander so really idk. I see many other bracket 3 Sephiroth lists run it tho.
Since this doesn't give Haste, I can't fire this off during my turn as a triple threaten, right?
>>97765311I'm a moron.
>>97765286Reminder that gavin allows rube goldberg early turn infinites as long as it's 'inconsistent enough' so that the casual johnny is not excludedBut at the same time there's no telling what inconsistent even means (is 10% likelihood ok? What about 5%? 15%?) so when it comes to randoms at the LGS a blanket 'no infinites/thoracles/locks before my turn X' (t7 in b3) is the norm
>>97765265They are cool, the problem is that most of the art pool they're pulling from is shit. This is probably the second or third art card I've been really happy to end up with, just because 99% of the time what I get it some shit art from a bad card.
>>97765322The new descriptions of brackets talk about how early you can win in lower brackets. So you're completely wrong about everything.
>>97765342You clearly didnt read the supplementary material, as if gavin will publicly ban the 4 card infinite on turn 5>dont worry lgs sweats know better
>>97765311>>97765318correct
>>97765373Unfortunate, at least it's intended use case is still pretty funny and It does turn into a triple threaten if you have a haste enabler somewhere.
>>97764898NTA but instead the Yuna one, pulling counters off sagas is helping busted so I think that Spara deck could be viable. Sagas were balanced around being used one time and as soon as you get one of the effects twice the value gets out of control. Look into the Legend of Yangchen and Kyoshi. You haven't known true gleeful terror until you make the table go through Yangchen's lore 1 trigger multiple times
>>97765322I wish i had a way of calculating how likely i am to perform this combo before turn 6.Should probably just take it out, or at least the other version of it with gravecrawler.
>>97765351>Only Gavin makes the rules for the brackets You clearly didn't read it
>>97765476>Our hope is this also makes things a lot clearer in terms of big game-ending cards and combos, explaining where they should show up. For example, instead of wondering what "no early-game combos" means, saying "you don't expect to win or lose before turn six" gives you a pretty clear indicator of what kind of combos could be allowed: not ones that tend to happen in the first six turns.>That doesn't mean you should just wait and hold your two-card infinite until later either. If a combo could frequently come up, it's not the best fit for that bracket.Literally in the october article, gavin is against sandbagging because he wants the casual johnny to be able to pull off his rube goldberg combo at the cost of a ~5% WR, that's all it meansBut again sweats know better, doing a blanket combo limit regardless of inconsistency is indeed for the best
If i wanna take the infinites out of Sephiroth what should I replace them with?I guess Warren Soultrader Could be replaced with Yagwmoth and Phyrexian Altar with..?
>>97765615You dont have to take out anything, just sandbag it until your turn 7 (turn 9 if b2)
>>97765615Cooler sac outlets
>>97756948Does my waifu pass?
Newfag question: if I have a card out that triggers off landfall and I play something like Awaken the Woods (create X land creatures) that does trigger landfall for each one created right?
>>97765669Wotc killed off avacyn because they cant let her get away with those mammaries
>>97765669>MLD>Bracket 3You don't pass and you will never look like Avacyn.
>>97765615This or that one Warhammer guy if you arent playing those yet

>>97765688I mean, there's only 8 total board wipes in there if you count Worldslayer's bad touch. I used to have 15
>>97765638People will still complain i feel, there's some salty fucks at my store.>>97765700Oh that is kinda cool actually. Which Warhammer guy tho?
>>97765728>People will still complain i feel, there's some salty fucks at my store. At a certain point you're going to have to be allowed to combo off, t9 for b2, t7 for b3, and t5 for b4 is very fair
>>97765672Yes
>>97765750Yeah but people will be mad that my deck could've done it earlier idk i'm tired of some people being always salty.Wish i had a playgroup.
>>97765768>get mad at you for jamming asap>also get mad at you for sandbaggingSorry but that's a bracket 1 combo hating timmy pod in conplete denial and thus not to be taken seriously

>>97765920Dont worry anon rhystic study is a fair card, sheldon told me so
>>97765920I'm bringing Prime Time back. Just ignore the banlist and start having fun.
>>97763810Why;d you skip me anyway?
>>97765286"you can win on turn 4" only matters if it is consistent. A lot of decks can win fast if they get a god hand.
>>97766208Shit, that's a good deck idea, can't believe I never thought of doing Emerge that way instead of the normal yugioh stuff
>>97764085Garland himself is funny, going full on with theft synergy is just annoying for everyone involved though.
>>97765920They'll bring back primetime, I don't want them to, but they will, they want landfall decks to be over tuned, over pushed bullshit, and they'll let prime time be unbanned for them, Its clearly their pet archetype.
>>97767411Relax primetime as a GC wont touch your b2 pods
>>97765419Can only pull cpunters off creatures, though, so unless the deck is built arpund making your sagas into creatures, you're out of luck. Onpy ones that work are the FF ones.
>>97767411>unbanned Prime Time>unbanned Sylvan Primordial>unbanned Zesty Elf>unbanned Sundering Titan>CURRENTLY UNBANNED Biorhythm Mono-green Chad's, we are going to be eatin' good!
>>97765246Ammegeddon will always destroy lands if it resolves, so the card will regularly destroy lots of lands, thus why the card is mld. Gideon will almost never get its ult off, so the card will almost never destroy many lands, so it's not mld.
>>97765286Personally I consider the commander of a deck to be always in-play, so a two-card combo would be two more cards, or two cards w/o the commander (if they work together without needing it, I mean). However, I don't think that's what gav meant, and in any cause as long as you aren't running a bunch of efficient tutors and ways to consistantly get this out turn 4, you're fine.
>>97763810>you're a copy of other goblin decksBut it's a voltron deck, there is next to no tribal anything, there are no creatures in the deck. The goblin token are 90% of.the time cheerleaders to make krenko swole and blockers.
>cast pic rel on hearthhull player>has scapeshift, lumra, field of the dead amulet of vigor etc>exile lumra, immediately gets salty>bitches and whines despite having tannuk icetill and omnath out with hearthull >runs no protection, gets all of the removal>whirlwind of denial landfall/sac triggers>when he already pubstomped and won on turn 5 the last game with the same value engine / no interaction
>>97767554Landfall is still horseshit in bracket 3
>tfw your favorite character gets a new cardCan't wait for Strixhaven bros
Peanutbutter and Freedom manRWUAvatar Advisor3/3Command zone superiority - As an opponent casts a card you own, you gain control of it. If a card would be exiled from your library by an opponent, instead it isn't. All costs from sources an opponent would impose on you are considered paid. If anything would be copied, or become a copy, instead it's owner amass 1
>>97767711>runs lumra in the 99 instead of the cz just to say "it's not the cedh build so it's not consistent enough and is good enough for lower brackets"more reason why a blanket combo turn threshold in b3 below regardless of consistency is best, it covers these kinds of angle shooting
>>97767785Yeah, but its a kinda bad card
>>97765700Soldering Adnate is one of my favorite cards. The right mix of playable but ancient enough that people go "wtf is that?" every time I drop it. I put it in every deck it is remotely useful in.Its still like, $1 too. I can't wait for sloptubers to find it and for it to become a $50 card.
Is this still playable in 2026?
>>97767791He'll slot right into either of my other two Quintorious decks just fine
>>97765728>Which Warhammer guy thoHad to look it up, he's basically the same as Adnate, just couldn't remember the name

>>97768116I felt like it wasn't a representative enough description/sample of the deck to be able to comment on it. also I didn't trust the site enough to do anything on it.
>>97768116You never even commented on mine
>>97768116I literally comment "I want to be cunny acquisitor too"

>>97768116That wasn't one of the rules. You never stated we had to.
>>97768116no i'm not going to reveal my super secret deck tech to dominate the upcoming B3 meta
>>97766208Fucking A, anon. That's a much better way of doing "threaten tribal" than I did. I chose these two and I steal commanders, hit with them, then ideally sacrifice them for bonuses like card draw/removal/whatever. While I do have the backup of stealing bigger threats on the table, the deck quickly "runs out of gas" in a way by having zero commanders to steal due to their commander tax getting way too high to cast anymore (the deck is built around commanders/legendary creatures attacking/dealing combat damage). I'm definitely doing your deck though since I already have like 70% of the idea built, now I just need to pick up Herigast and some big doofuses to cast. I'll just share the cards between the two decks
>>97767785Im excited for him too. His original card was neat but felt shit when he died once. Him being a PW unironically solves that since you want cheap recurable dudes to hold the line.
>>97768116You just told us to make the passport thing, retard.
>>97766729>>97768185I appreciate it, it's a very fun deck to play, and my pod likes it well enough not to be annoyed by theft.
>>97768116There was some at least. Still it would help to remind us to check each others passports next time.
>>97768116I think everyone's deck is cool. I never posted mine.
>>97768375There's a lot of super neato creatures with both enter and death triggers that fit great in it. Oxidda Golem is by far my favorite though. Basically free and a huge discount on the next huge creature to Emerge
>>97768116How about you make a statistic/compilation of all decks and present some funny stats about /edhg/ preferences?
does groupslug even really slow down the game? from my experience so far so many pings on actions accelerate the game more than anything. Like I'd say a McKenzie fog deck is more of a slugger than anything else
>>97768625>quickly bring down everyone's life all at oncePlease tell me how this slows down the game.
