>running Pathfinder 2nd Edition
>session 0
>tell everyone I'll be mostly sticking to RAW around combat, including drawing/stowing weapons (which takes 1 action, and you get 3/turn). if you don't draw your weapon before combat, you will need to spend an action to draw it on your turn
>everyone agrees
>session 2
>players go to attack a bandit fort
>plenty of time to prepare before rolling initiative
>they don't draw their weapons at any point during their planning/sneaking around phase
>initiative is rolled after the wizard sets a watchtower on fire and alerts the fort
>they start bitching when I remind them they don't have their weapons out yet and have to spend time retrieving them

None of this happened and you are a dumb frogposter
>>
A functioning adult would remind the players the first time what seems to be an honest mistake happens. I'm taking a guess that if this happened your players were more responding negatively to how you informed them.

You and your players all got what you deserved.

Give them a mulligan this once, assuming they just forgot and then fucking talk about it like an actual human person, Jesus Christ.

It feels retard to activelly track those things unless it's hella relevant (I.e party is asleep, they are undercover or a "civilized place" that requires that their weapons need to be sheathed). It's the same thingy as why we don't track the time treat wounds or quick repair takes when the group is camping/sleeping or straight up fully heal them when they are in a inn/safe haven while having healer features. There's not a mathetically possibility that they will fail 100+ checks, might as well handwave it.

Fair assumption
>I plan on attacking the guy
Implies drawing and any other reasonable preparation

You joke, but my first DM pulled this one. Three days of travel without eating, and without missing a beat he set up an encounter where I had the weakened condition. Which in the system was 50% less damage dealt.

Were you not eating or not specifying eating? If the former, fair. The latter, dick dm.

who are you quoting?

Yeah. If the DM told you prior to the game that there is such a rule for breathing, then this would be exactly equivalent, and the DM would be exactly as correct (infinitely).

(AN ABRIDGED RECOLLECTION):
"50 ft down the corridor you see a door"
>"I open it"
"Alright, as you do-"
>"Wait, was the door trapped?"
"Yes, with a mechanism whi-"
>"Why didn't I see it?"
"You didn't ask anything about the door"
>"So what, I have to check every single door?"
"Yes, that's the idea."
>"But my character would have been able to see this, why do I have to say I check it?"
"It's to keep you immersed in the world by acting as your character would"
>"I think it's pretty unimmersive that my character wouldn't notice something like that"
"We don't make your character automatically fight for you, why should we make him automatically search for you?"
>"So from now on I have to say I check a door every time I want to open it?"
"You don't *have* to do anything, and when it comes to doors you can use context clues or such to-"
>"I think this is stupid"
"Please roll a save"

Player's right though.

>Be me. Playing in a casual LGS table.
>5e. Just come off Only War, and playing a game of Hunter the Reckoning, so more used to more punishing mechanics and weaker PC's than 5e provides.
>Fun game though. Rotating table playing Dungeon of the Mad Mage. Bunch of newfags, and not-quite-newfags who know just enough to combat optimize and 'never split the party'.
>Make a drunk drow bard and proceed to fuck with the latter group.
He always gets near blind drunk before dungeon delving (his 'second wind' is when the mechanical affects wear off), wanders off from the party down side passages periodically (despite some players screaming "NOOOOO"), 'pulls aggro' on enemies and monsters despite having fuck all AC (typically while the heavy armour PC's are dithering and nervous of committing), and buys pointless gimmick items instead of sensible purchases (call him when a +1 rapier turns up, not a longsword).

I don't quite know how he's still alive, but half the table think I'm a wizard, half the table look at me like I'm a war criminal, and the grognard DM tacitly approves of my lack of optimizing or fucking about.

T. Squealing player piggy

I've been blessed with decent players but many years ago I wasn't so lucky. One that stands out went like this:
Party is in a walled town under attack by a gnoll horde, this is pathfinder 1e Player in question is a fighter and has wandered onto the walls. He can see the horde of hundreds of gnolls, and a giant
>"I jump over the parapet and attack with my sword"
"Mate, what the fuck, its a 25' drop into an army, are you sure you want too"
Other players voice their concerns
>"yeah I'm doing it"
Proceeds to land, staggering, and get bodied by gnolls
>"gm what the hell why did you do that, just because I sisters follow your railroad"
"No, it's because you jumped into an army of gnolls"
The others joined in in support and he eventually quietened down but didn't return.
That was the same session I found one of my players was a furfag. He was trying to get me to set his pc up with a waifu he had come up with, then he sent me pictures of the character she was based on. Furry porn of a pokemon. That said, I could fill a story thread with that guys dickery, unsolicited furry porn is relatively minor in comparison to some of the stuff he did.
