ok so im new to tabletop and bolt action, got my first box (for the emperor) and ended up with something like this, Be honest how much i fucked myself?dont mind headless army i plan to paint heads separately
>>97766174>Painting heads separately>But not armsI can't claim to understand it, but I wish you luck nonetheless.
Not sure if I'm better off asking /here/ or making a thread but have you ever painted up a 40k army in /hwg/ livery because you couldn't get a local /hwg/ game? The quintessential>Guard player couldn't talk anyone into playing Bolt ActionIt's just a thought I had while looking at AKRC paints and wondering how somebody who's more bought into historicals would paint a space marine army. Paint what you know.
>>97766174Can’t you only take 1 flag bearer? I guess they can always count as riflemen. If you haven’t looked you should check the Chicago dice article and try to copy their list. Also had recommendations on how to use everything in the box and how to grow
I recently had a game of To The Strongest, and I had the Saxons as regular warriors with a hero, and some of the rules from Warhammer AB's Age of Battle. So the Saxons were regular and not deep, but they rerolled 1s and 2s to hit. They also had a shock missile they would thrown before a charge. However, they had worse saves against missile fire.It was an interesting fight.
>>97767710A lot of the imperial guard units are based on historical armies.

>TQPainted two champions for my Irish force. These will be Curraidh for SAGA, or leaders/heroes for any smaller games like Ravenfeast or Pillage.>>97766174I don't play Bolt Action, but looks fine. Japanese Squads historically were sometimes up to 15 men in the early/mid war, so maybe you need more rifles, but it'd be easy enough to put the Flag bearers in as riflemen. It's easy enough to pick up some sprues off ebay/ some metal minis to bulk out a squad or two though, so I woudn't stress too much.>>97767710Paint them how you like I guess. I've seen some cool converted Guard armies in proper camo rather than khakis, for example. It's easy enough to paint two /hwg/ forces and get a mate to play some demo games though, so I don't see the appeal of going to the GW trough desu.
>>97767710I did do the obligatory 'Nam look for a Catachan force many many years ago so yes. It's not so common with non-Guard, for obvious reasons. That said, if you look at older art (and I mean OLDER, like Rogue Trader era) you do get examples of marines in camouflage schemes. That said, don't forget that 40k and other SF properties are exactly that; SF. I have seen someone do an interesting take on a desert scheme (can't remember exactly whose he used as a base) but using reds, burnt oranges and browns, because it was a 'Martian' type environment. So it scratched his 'authentic colours' itch but also his artistic 'do something different' one too.Equally, >>97773216's advice of doing two small starter 'demo' forces to preach the gospel is usually valid, but of course will take a bit more time and effort (and cash of course). Although I have asked people to try a ruleset with inauthentic models before (a Rifleman is a Rifleman, really) to get them to try their greens, as it were, so I do sympathise with that angle.
>TQ Almost done with my Austro-Hungarian Jagdkommando commission.
>>97765859Thanks for fixing the OPs.Got a mate with a 3d printer and he keeps offering to print me some shit before I visit, thinking about it ahead of time I've got a few ideas. I've got a copy of Missile Threat, and that seems like an obvious use of a print plate or two. Anyone got any prior knowledge of Vietnam era air war STLs?
>>97765859
>>97784350>Anyone got any prior knowledge of Vietnam era air war STLs?yeah these days you can find pretty much anything flying in Vietnam in STL. There's one sculptor making things in 1:200 (resizable obviously) but the name escapes me.
finished battle of france bongs
>>97795403Why the perfidious bongs instead of french?
>>97795648Because I already have frogs, looking to get some more with the dragon portèe helmets
Played a game of late medieval ADLG the other day. While things initially looked good for the English, as my right flank poured mass longbow fire into the advancing German pikes and quickly drove off their Crossbow-armed skirmishers, I made the big mistake of slogging my heavy infantry up the table after a potential enemy formation (in ambush under the token on the top left). This turned out to be a ruse, with the formation of Heavy Knights actually deploying off my right flank and rolling through my army in short order.>>97781231Looking good anon!
Can anyone point me to a QRD of all the Bolt Action starter sets and boxes?
When they were talking about the end of history I didn't think they meant it like this.
