Does time to don your armor come up in your games? managing torch light, food rations, wear on your equipment, your boots, the character's mental state? if not you're missing out on brilliant roleplaying opportunities.
No it's too important to my build to ever have it unequipped.
I don't give a shit about any of those things.

>>97767221I'm not missing out on anything, if I want that roleplaying opportunity I can just say "hey my armor is worn out I'll do something about it" without the need to track anything
your game should feature the things that it's about>I want to run a game about managing light sources!manage away>I want to run a game where fantasy thieves rob wizard towers!maybe leave it out
>>97767221No. We've tried that. Exactly one guy in my group liked that kind of thing, no one else. The guy who liked it now runs OSR style games for other people who also like that kind of thing, while still also occasionally playing other kinds of games with our old group, and everyone's happy. Also this >>97773556, not all games are or should be the same or focus on the same things.
>>97767221That stuff is boring and annoying. I play games to have fun.
>>97767317>I don't give a shit about any roleplaying opportunitiessounds about right for the average /tg/ nogames.
>>97773556Managing light sources and encumbrance is even more important in a game about thieves robbing stuff. What if the thing you're trying to rob is too heavy? What if there's magic light sensors and now you must find a way to see in the dark? You could have used a better example like a game about political maneuvering wouldn't need encumbrance or light sources.
>>97767304So then what were to happen if you were attacked while you were sleeping, and you had to get your equipment on
>>97778558I sleep with my armor on and holding my sword.
>>97767221Yes, actually. I'm fortunate enough to have players who like describing little details of their character's equipment and clothes, in particular. I use an online VTT, and giving the players the permissions to edit the descriptions of items in their inventory has led to something downwind from (or at least reminiscent) of bluebooking, where they've been able to put little personal touches on things. I think it has helped them feel more invested.
>>97767221I consider it part of the daily preparations, and only give it any further consideration if it's relevant for the adventure or if any players want to something really specific. My experience shows people do not care about that, it's an off camera thing that happens at the same level of importance as pissing>if not you're missing out on brilliant roleplaying opportunitiesprovide some examples
>>97778686I'd be inclined to only give you the benefit of a short rest when taking a long, and no benefit from a short.>why?Because you are uncomfortable, and you have to remove your armour in order to treat injuries.
>>97767221>Does time to don your armor come up in your games?Yeah, at the start of session 1, then never take it off again except to replace with a better one.
>>97781645you sir are a gentleman and a scholar
Yes they get very pissy whenever I ambush them and they can't put their armor on in time. Apparently I'm only allowed to initiate combat when they're ready but they can ambush enemies no problemo
>>97779408While taking a piss you are accosted by enemies, and the party is not nearby because you wanted privacy. They struck when you were vulnerable.
>>97781710serves that player right for walking away from the party when in hostile territory, but that could make for an interesting random encounter
>>97782314of course
>>97767221Yes, that's why you post a watch, it's what alarm spells are for, it's why we keep second sets of armor that can be slept in without penalty. That's why those rules exist.
>>97767221>alright lets ignore food, maintenance, lodging, don doff times, equip actions, morale, ammo, rest times, resource expenditure, weight capacity, random encounters, labour costs, hirelings, diseases, poisons...>Man this game is so easy, I have so much money and can use all my highest spells because we only have one fight per dayI bet you don't even require prep time after waking up either
>>97784592By the looks of it, a lot of people seem to just want to be superheroes yeah.
>>97767221Depends on the game.
