>>97780055Rich recently released the Dark Sun parody comic, we even had a storytime
>>97780182Neat, good for him.
>>97780182Speaking of Dark Sun, I've been playing Shattered Lands. 2e psionics is fucked up, even if everyone only gets generic powers, but the Disintegrate Button on dedicated psions works very much the same way as described on the 3.pf version. Why did Psionics ever need to exist? What's the point?
>>97779996Looks mor like a touch attack by Sabine and a normal attack by Thog or they would have incurred AoOs by Belkar and the aquatic paladin.
>>97780342Man, I love Shattered Lands, it's up there on my list of favorite cRPGs. Mass Domination is also ridiculously busted. My only complain about the game (other than the occasional bug and the level caps) is how inconsistent the difficulty is, it's way too easy until the final battle which is proper hard.>Why did Psionics ever need to exist? What's the point? My guess is that they wanted to have a kind of magic not tied to the ecologist themes of the setting, and also wanted to experiment with a non-Vancian system.
>>97780051Thanks!
upscale.
>>97780008this has to be a fuckin bot at this point
>>97782536why do we need upscaling? not saying youre not helping, what i mean is:OOTS looks like its in vector graphics. why doesnt rich release the comics in ultra high-res?
>>97782805>why doesnt rich release the comics in ultra high-res?why should he thoughhe makes them big enough to fit the style of his html page and that's all Rich needs, it's not like it's unreadablealso the new comics are somewhat bigger than the early ones, probably adjusted as monitor resolutions improved
>>97782912>shouldto appeal to to fans? I dont undestand the contradiction youre trying to make. this isnt 2004 anymore lmaoclearly people want higher res version or there wouldnt be an upscale posted every thread
>>97780342>Why did Psionics ever need to exist? What's the point?Like a lot of early D&D stuff, someone was interested in playing a character with psychic powers in the late 70s and Gygax and Arneson threw it in and it has more or less stuck around since.
>>97782805I wonder if it's a bit of "if you want it to look pretty buy the pdfs" (which are in vector) attitude. There'd be a better case for that if the book releases weren't approximately forever apart. Way things are the main publication point just looks poor for no reason, esp. on 4k displays.

>>97785893Good thog.
>>97786503Injury was from before the transformation. If it didn't work this way then Succubi like Sabine would have permanent hymens which would be counter productive to say the least
>>97782805He releases high-res versions on his patreon. Don't know about ultra high-res.
>>97786554Unless succubi don't have hymens at all.
>>97786554Only devils get regeneration. Succubi don't even have fast healing.
>>97780342>Why did Psionics ever need to exist? What's the point?Wasn't it supposed to be a way for characters like fighters to still get a handful of magical abilities?3e at least has some distinction in the kind of effects arcane, divine and psionic characters are good and bad at.Psionics being manually controlled rather than reaction- or contract-based means it's bad at automatic and/or persistent effects. Their buffs tend to be self-only, and they can bend minds but can't produce hologram-style illusions. Metapsionics are easier to apply than metamagic if you keep things simple, but it's much harder to stack multiple at once.
>>97787867I really do like the psionic version of illusion, false sensory input It's a fantastic way to catch someone off guard since it's not foiled by your standard anti-illusion methods (but also allows a save and only affects a limited amount of targets) >>97780342in the 3.5 era there was also the factor of psionics using a different style of casting people might prefer over true vancian it's not a radical shift mind you, and it's often lower power than the vancian equivalent, but it can be fun
>>97786634cool thx
>>97787730I guess in OOTS they do, since Sabine is directly calling out mortal healing as "Molasses healing"

>>97780047That game isn't being discussed here, a comic is. Enjoy your ban.
>>97784950Like everything else in the comic, since there aren't any actual rules associated with it, Rich will decide for Roy to use it whenever it facilitates whatever railroad he wants to happen.
>>97790508Do you think she's comparing their healing rate to hers specifically?
>>97792493That stretch is usually referred to as "the entire comic"
>>97795330Considering she's using a very derogatory term for it, yes. Do you have autism?
>>97795337I thought the last one was particularly egregious even by Rich's standards. Five full weeks for a simple "thing happens that the audience knows will happen next because the villains explained that it would 13 years ago" comic.
Anyone else ever roleplay on the GItP forum? I used to be a regular in the Town, before it became the Nexus.
>>97796951thats how I found 4chan, haha.I got into D&D in 2005, and from there found OotS, posted on GitP as raging_pacifist,one day someone mentioned how scary 4chan was and to stay away. I couldnt resist lmao
>>97795804Do you?
>>97779816If OOTS was happening in real life, it would have taken Rich longer to draw the comic than for everything to have actually happened in real time. Including everyone's backstories.

>>97796966Shoot, I also joined GItP in 2005! It feels like a lifetime ago; I was, and behaved, like such a highschooler back then. And, I know exactly what you're talking about. is it just me or are these threads even deader than usualeven thogs dropped to one per page rather than 2-3ironic, considering the comic is at the point where things are finally happeningwe're literally in the middle of a fight, combined with fiends making their play, after IRL years of waitingwhere's the hype?
>>978124834chan in general has been slow ever since the hack. For OOTS in particular, yeah we're in a fight but we haven't learned anything new. Sure, the party didn't know that the three stooges were in league with the linear guild, but that's not new info to us. This is one of those pages that flows perfectly well when you're reading in aggregate but gives us nothing to discuss in the moment.

>>97796951I've found a gaming group for Mutants and Masterminds on GitP. It was awful. The DM was a chinese guy, who had our Justice League speedrun the absolute worst dystopia imaginable, where they've forcibly implanted every supernatural and superpowered being in the world with a chip that could depower them or make their heads explode, including the mother of our female player's character. It made her cry on mic. When we've decided to fight back against them, the DM said "Okay, then you lose. I won't bother to DM this, you can not fight back against them".We've had a lengthy discussion about what the fuck is he doing or why, which produced this memorable quote>I'm chinese, to me this is just normal
>>97814999>>I'm chinese, to me this is just normalJesus Christ, what a bleak get.
>>97814999The collapse of china would require mass spontaneous riots - not impossible as their population goes up and infrastructure becomes more complex, but they're good at cracking down on attempts to network intentional rebellion so it'd be a wait for spontaneity on a large enough scale there's no stopping it....This is also what might happen in America if the food prices situation gets and stays too bad for too long lmao.Anyhow in a superhero setting you can absolutely fight back, brute forcing a "it's hopeless, it's so xiover" attitude in is very Chinese though - see that retarded "Dark Forest" trilogy that came out of china a few years back with a premise of "All alien civilisations immediately try to genocide each other on sight which is why the universe seems quiet"
>>97815740China's complicated, but their situation is actually very tenuous. The reason the Chinese aren't more overt geopolitically is not because they're afraid that they would lose a war with India or even the US over the specific objective (Taiwan, the Sino-Indian border) but because they have no ability to project naval power long distances. The Chinese navy is mostly littoral and intended for coastal operations. What this means is that if a war starts, anyone who actually does have a navy can send a boat over to Hormuz, and simply cut the amount of oil China receives from all sources in half. this is only about 10% of China's energy generation (less even) but it's over 50% of vehicle fuel, which is what matters for the logistic side of things, and they don't really have any way to fight back against this strategy. The result would be a cascade collapse of the country's economy and probably mass starvation within a year.Of course they're ready for that, because the Chinese have been playing the water empire game since 2000 BC. If (when) you get famine, you don't divide the food evenly between all of the provinces, because then they will all be alive but angry. You take all of the food, and give it all to half the provinces, so that that half will be alive and happy, and the other half will be angry but dead. They're buckling in for this eventuality even now, if you look and see what the CCP is up to. Which is all to say, you are correct. The Chinese have a cultural tradition of dealing with insanely bleak scenarios, and this shows a lot in their art and entertainment. Every Chinese war movie about Korea I've ever seen runs like a recruitment ad for the US Marines. I love them, they're a great people, but Jesus Christ would I never want to visit their magical realm.
