>>97786564>TQIf it existed in 30k, it should exist in 30k. I'm tired of being told how X used Y, but we can't have it because the ranges have to be kept separate.
>>97786537>jump pack command squad with disintegrator riflesOh already have one of those planned, gonna deep-strike them turn one with a master of descent. Horrible over-costed for what it does probably, but it sounds like a fun unit to use.
>>97786564>Would you like it if 30k and 40k got more cross compatibility between ranges?yes. Although with the w40k DA line the cross over in to HH is easy. I just wish the HH vehicles and terminators were the proper size to use in w40k too.
How come Terminators don't get back banners? They're kino as hell.
Whoever made this edit, I owe you one.
>>97786656Terminator command squads do. Legion banner is a good excuse for one.
>>97786564There should be as much cross compatibility as possible so I can play my army in whatever system is the least bad at any given time. Yes that means I need tyranid rules for AoS and TOW.
I wish GW wasn't so retarded all the time.
>>97786564>TQNot without complications of course, but yes in general, as it makes for higher confidence in given models.
>>97786564>TQNo. Because I am spiteful, and don't want 40k player to have anything cool from 30k.

>>97786721It was over from the start, people even bought those retarded dildo jetbikes as soon as FW shat them out.
>>97786713This but unironically. The sissy Admech players who whined that they don't have rules for 30k automata specifically deserve to suffer because one buy at my FLGS was acting like a faggot about it last year.
>>97786713>mfw cuckstodes box that was bought out by 40k crowd goes to legends in 11th edition
You know, considering the fact he pops up in literally every single Iron Hands story set either before or during Isstvan and is a very important character in relation to Ferrus, it's weird Gabriel Santar has never got a model/profile in the game.
>>97787071Unless Bligh personally liked the character or if they're some BL writer's self insert, named characters don't get rules nor models.
>>97787162>named characters don't get rules nor models.Hibou.
>>97787192Obvious self-insert OC
>>97787192Hibou shows up in the books and is a major player technically the issue is he gets a spot over Shiban however I think it’s because they wanted to give Sagyar Mazan their leader
>>97787232Not really he kinda gets his shit kicked in for trying to side with Horus but soon realized how badly the traitors were turning when he had to lead the Sagyar he then sort of becomes a pseudo shattered legion character as he shows up to give Lil Horus a shave
>>97787192Hibous insane clown posse art is the most iconic book cover of the heresy series
>>97786662God forbid a Thunder Warrior have a lil motion
>>97787233Hot take: if the character's only thing of note is being an exemplar of their legion, they shouldn't get rules or models and be left to converted as players see fit as a praetor for their force. Yes, that includes guys like Lucius or Ahriman, they don't need special rules when it's just an excuse to lock playstyles behind them that really should just be generic options. Typhus and Sevatar at least have their unique psychic stuff, but if your special rules were just a warlord trait and "I can't die because I exist in 30k" then you don't deserve rules. I'm glad 3rd has at least downgraded special characters to just rando praetor sidegrades instead of no brainers in most cases, I just wish they could have purged the roster more deeply in that case and given us more shit we actually wanted like tank commanders and options for consuls.

>>97786564>TQI'm vaguely conficted in that I like that militia is getting all that's it's getting but I fucking despise 40k players so much to the point that I don't consider them human and hope they suffer, so obviously I don't want them in 30k and cross compatibility is a big thing about that. We get the cool shit, they don't. Ask yourself this, do you want /hhg/ to be as shit as /40kg/? Do you seriously need those subhumans in here?
>>97787392I mean it’s iconic to me
>>97786564>Would you like it if 30k and 40k got more cross compatibility between ranges? No. Have no interest in playing 40k at all, and don't see GW doing anything to change that. And most new 40k models are hideous anyway, keep that shit out of HH please. Most things in 30k should not be available in 40k, lots of it is suppose to be lost tech after all. The only exception should be daemons, but GW is busy squatting chaos daemons so they won't be a thing for much longer.
>>97787541>The only exception should be daemonsI like the FW-era ruinstorm list, it was way cooler than its 40k counterpart. A shame that like all other lists it just lost pieces every editions we got.
>>97786760>one buy at my FLGS was acting like a faggot about it last year. How? What was he doing? It'd be nice if everyone had almost everything: AdMech with Relic Automata, Mechanicus with Kataphrons and actual SkitariiLegions with Razorbacks, and Chapters with...I think Chapters do have stuff? Relic Contemptors are right there.
Miltia guy from yesterday:>opponent did not bring his usual Aux force but a WB saturnine force with skitarrii allies>it was not as lopsided as it may seem, as me bringing close to 120 total infantry models was a significant speedbump>I don't recommend doing that btw>most of my army fought (and died to) a Saturnine Dread guarding a bridge, but after brutal, epic conflict, my Force Commander(!) killed it in melee (!)>meanwhile, opponent's Spartan dumped out the Saturnine Praetor and his 4-man Saturnine retinue . . . Who spent the rest of the 2 turns we played pinned thanks to militia longrifles>unfortunately, I had no answer to Phraetus dropping in to rape my backline>Kracnos was also terrifying and pinned a despoiler squad with champ for 2 turnsCalled it bottom of t3, but it was close and tense. IW inductii with a jump pack centurion are no joke.
>>97787071Rip Castrmen Orth. He got forgotten so hard the office of Tank Commander itself got deleted
>>97787564It was almost literally stated that the current ruinstorm daemon rules are a bare bones placeholder when it was put out, and it was actually stated that more daemon rules were already being planned for journals.
>>97787577>>most of my army fought (and died to) a Saturnine Dread guarding a bridge, but after brutal, epic conflict, my Force Commander(!) killed it in melee (!):O! I'm not sure dreads can be attacked by detonation grenades anymore. Your plan was to stall it with bodies!>IW inductii with a jump pack centurion are no joke.I maintain Tacticals > Despoilers without power weapons, and Tac Inductii can be > Despoilers through the special weapons they do get access to. IW Inductii are actually sort of middle of the road at assaulting the foe compared to other Inductii, namely DG, UM and AL Inductii (dual flamers)
>>97787606Having a placeholder is better than having nothing...but still can't shake the feeling you're playing with half the options you should be.
>>97787606In 1.0 they have a list of mutations which isn't too different from the current way armies in 3.0 buy their options, that's what I was talking about. At least 2.0 gave them more dominions but meh, losing that list removed every options save their LA(x) equivalent. They literally went "this is the ranged option and this is the melee option, both suck ass" and flipping through the 3.0 pdf it seems they removed the former.
>>97787572>Legions with RazorbacksBack to 40k you go kid
>>97787071I'd take 'em, if only because the Iron Hands really need some love.
>>97787577Always good to hear about militia putting up an actual fight.
>>97787688Hey, i'm asking for Razorbacks. Some people here are asking for transport capacity on sponsonless Predators. It's a compromise.Though both the Predator Annihilator and Razorback were discovered on M36, and the Annihilator has since been approved for 30k, so, I'd say it'd be alright.Maybe that could be the Command Rhino, night useless as it currently is lol

>>97787688I don't get why 40k players keep wanting them in HH where they make no sense in-setting. >>97787757Book 1 didn't have annihilators but had other anti tank preds guns filling in the same role (granted 1.0 also had some 40k only things too), 2.0 having one along with other 40k only things was seen in /hhg/ as GW preparing to have a system for 40k players to fall on when inevitably they squat those 40k non-primaris marine things like they did with the boxnoughts. Those preds at least already existed in fluff and can bring heavier guns but it's not like if those got a journal you couldn't use them for running the fluff breaking razorbacks.
>>97787757Those people are wrong. People who field predator annihilator in 30k should be shot on sight. If you're that desperate for those things go play 40k and leave HH the fuck alone, thanks.
>>97787779hence my question, don't be a wise-ass
>>97787757Didn't the Solar Auxilia make a similar retcon with fielding lascannon Leman Russ tanks, when the officer who introduced them in 40k out of desperation got executed for it?
>>97787869Quad mortar rapiers are very versatile, and in plastic now too if you can't handle resin.Scorpius is decent in combination with a siege breaker so it can remain stationary.Arquitor with graviton-charge cannon will lock infantry in place with pinning 3, and probably kill some too with str 9 ap 3 dmg 2.Saturnine dread with two plasma bombard does good damage, is hard to kill, and doesn't need siege breaker support to shoot without LOS.Upcoming whirlwind can have long range barrage with Panic 1.
If we're being honest, 30k equipment options need to be way more expansive compared to even 1.0, because this is the era where invention is completely OK apparently so there's no reason you can't have a dreadhammer and vindicator siege cannon sponsons on a spartan, or a contemptor dreadnought with disintegrators, or yes twin lascannons in a predator turret. We need older edition 40k style equipment lists or the VDR where nearly everyone can take from anything.
>>97787970>invention is completely OK apparentlyIt wasn't. Maybe read some of the lore before posting next time.
No, but what actually are Charonite Ogryns? Are they servitors? enlisted solar auxilia? Vat grown? Who convinced them to get their hands chopped off?
>>97788037A daot weapon that's an half ogryn half machine thing hopped up on drugs. They are eversor ogryns essentially which iirc aren't even exclusively used by SA but also by some other void-faring strands of humanity but legally speaking only the SA are allowed to use them. Last time I checked their resin models are also as tall as primarchs.
>>97788037>Who convinced them>convincedYou use that word like they had any say in the matter. Lmao. They are biochemically and cybernetically altered with ancient tech, possible of xenos origin. This is to ensure they blindly follow orders, but at the touch of a button become savage near-unstoppable berserkers.

>>97788213You weren't here 3 days ago then.
>>97787830>>97787849But the Imperial Armour, highest fluff of all, says an investigation triggered by Space Wolves arming their predators with twin Lascannons in M36 revealed that Predators were always able to do that, designed that way in the first place.I do not know where the fluff that says the STC for Razorbacks was also discovered in M36. I wonder what's the source, maybe a codex?
>>97787849meanwhile russ annihilators are fully kosher
>>97787999The Sicaran is literally a new development, it wasn't rediscovered from somewhere like Rhino chassis were
>>97788567>Russes with two Lascannons on the TurretYeah>Russes with two Lascannons as sponsonsNo no no! Illegal! Illegal! Save me, Fabricator General aaaaaaaah!!
>>97788539That has always sounded like the admech were trying to cover their ass once the pattern was discovered to not interfere with the pred machine spirit. As for the stc part it's also in one of the IA books, if you give me a sec I'll pull it up.
>>97787849Where are my Predators with transport capacity Alan?
>>97788643I could believe that, it's in line with what they'd do. But I choose to think otherwise because I've seen what Blood Angels and Black Templars do to their own vehicles. Mounting a Lascannon on a Predator is far less complicated than mounting a heavy Conversion Beamer or Plasma Executioner or Melta whatever. It really doesn't feel like that big of a deal.
>>97787071Sure, whatever. Make 'em a model. If fucking Lucius and Hibou can get models, anyone can.
>>97788567Nta but not really, SA getting them made no sense either from both fluff and crunch. It's one of the early signs of where HH was heading towards. For 5 more points you can get a battlecannon or a vanquisher, a twin-linked lascannon won't do shit and SA russes don't get sponsons so it's not like you could do 2 lascannons plus a TL to kinda give it enough punch. From the fluff perspective ignoring the fact that it's meant to be a krieg invention, the SA are supposed to be one of the best equipped, if not the best, sections of the imperial army, giving a damaged tank a TL lascannon instead of just sending it to second/third line units and getting another one with useful guns is pretty out of character. Imo it's because FW was starting to pull out of 40k so some units that had their own statsheets were given a lifeline if they weren't too fluff-breaking. Alas do what you want, if you want to run them do it.
>>97788664Alright, so it is from an Imperial Army (book) nice. Merkava Predators lol.Unironically I think that, should players need to pick between sponson and 6 transport cap, they'd choose the sponsons.Like imagine halving your firepower for a handful of Vets
>>97788664>Predator Transport>swap sponsons for Rhino sides>fits 6 passengersBasically 40k Razorback, just not available as a DT.>Early Crusade Predator>swap sponsons for Vindicator sides>no passenger capacity but turret gun receives +1 FPFill the passenger compartment with extra ammo.>inb4 "why don't regular predator get the same bonus"Because they use that extra storage for sponson ammo.
>>97788763>the SA are supposed to be one of the best equipped, if not the best, sections of the imperial armyAnd yet their tanks don't get sponsons like everyone else's does. Booo
>>97788789What is "Vindicator sides"? Nothing can mount Demolishers as sponsons they're too big lol. You'd need a Spartan-class hull (Typhon) to mount a laser destroyer, but at least that would be possible. On big enough tanks.>Why no bonus?I would have two kinds of Vindicator chassis:1. Normal 30k Vindicator (M10")2. Vindicator with 40k Siege Shield (M8" Auto Repair 5+).
>>97788867If you don't know, Deimos Rhino hulls come with the center missing and the various vehicles using the chassis come with parts to fill this slot with appropriate pieces. Rhino comes with the round door hole and doors for it. Predator comes with sponson mounts. Vindicator has flat sides with no doors or sponson mounts. You can build a Deimos Predator and swap the side parts with the sponson mounts with those of a Rhino (for side doors) or Vindicator (flat sides, no doors nor sponsons).
>>97788772>Unironically I think that, should players need to pick between sponson and 6 transport cap, they'd choose the sponsons.Unironically, I'd take the option to go without sponsons for no transport capacity. I just think the Predator looks fine without them and I'll choose the option over being forced to take them. Considering some sponsons don't always mesh 100% with the main gun, having the option to save a few points and just having the turret gun feels appropriate.
>>97788738I know but to me the question is why? It's a rhino which sacrifices half of its capacity for not that much firepower, like I could get it if they did it for something like the pred main guns or if it at least kept the capacity but a TL hbolter, TL lascannon or a multi melta? Hell the basic rhino can already carry the melta without resorting to halving its capacity. 5 men squads need more punch to justify it in the 20 men squad setting.

>>97788539It's originally WD#174, the fragment being reprinted in later editions. Though I'm not sure if it should be taken at a face value since back then the razorback was only the unique las-plas variant. I doubt it applies to the turret from Land Raider (GW) or Tarantula (FW) variants.
>>97789302Oooooh that. Yeah no-sponson no-doors sides. So, swap sponsons out for AV13 sides 0.0

>>97787267>have a lil motionPush a mess?
>>97788772It's from the original rules for Predators, way back in 1988. That was shitcanned before the end of the edition because vehicles were impossibly tough to deal with and nobody gave a shit about transcap when you had twin lascannons on offer.A few years later they tried again, calling it the razorback and deliberately giving it a weird turret (lascannon and 2 plasma guns) and no sponson options. That's kind of stuck (though the las-plas is long gone, I think even FW stopped making their version years before the plastic razorback was a thing).

>>97791170Had a quick browse at late 2007 WDs (around the time of Apocalypse launch) and went down a rabbit hole trying to understand these Baneblade sponsons. On the kit that GW sells and one that I bought relatively soon after it was released, the sponson guns had "pre-drilled" holes due to the mould being in more than two pieces. On the painted example you can see the holes are quite big due to this. In contrast, on the Shadowsword's hull bolters the holes have to be drilled, which is why the holes are smaller. So why do the assembly images from the White Dwarf look like the sponson bolters have drilled holes rather than ones moulded into the guns? Was there a prototype sprue without the moulded barrel holes that predated the production model with the moulded barrel holes? It's the mysterious 5e Russ plasma sponsons all over again...
>>97791304>Was there a prototype sprue without the moulded barrel holes that predated the production model with the moulded barrel holes? If there was a prototype, it'd be a 3d print (yes, they had those back then), HIPS molds aren't a thing you get a second try at

In Japan at the moment. Walking past some shops and find Warhammer in one. Noticed they've got some old 30k and 40k army boxes. Managed to grab the mechanicum heavy support force. >>97786564Anons, I have a question. I was working out a conceptual TO&E for my Sons of Horus/Word Bearers Shattered Legion and while the SoH element usually deploys as footslogging heavy infantry (except for their Terminators), I felt they logically should have Rhinos to lift the entire force if needed. But this got me wondering...how exactly do the Legions transport Rapiers when they need to keep pace with Rhinos? Their ground speed is somehow the same as a normal Space Marine (surprisingly) so they can easily keep up on foot, but do they just assign a pair of Rhinos to each 4 gun battery and roll the Rapiers inside with the crew? Or do they have a Rhino (or something smaller like a Sabre) tow each Rapier like a field gun with an artillery tractor? While I like the latter, I'm not entirely sure it fits the Astartes, though my headcanon for the Auxilia is they use Centaurs as Rapier tractors and you will not convince me otherwise
>>97793111>I was working out a conceptual TO&E for my Sons of Horus/Word Bearers Shattered Legion
>>97793111Rapiers can be deployed in dreadclaws, land raiders, spartans, kharybdis, thunderhawks and stormbirds. I occasionally run a full rapier squad in a spartan, it's real fun.
>>97793111a pair of tow hooks are supplied on each vehicle accessory spruei think rapiers would lend themselves to being pulled along as opposed to trying to stuff them inside even a modified rear compartment of a rhino
>>97793139>I occasionally run a full rapier squad in a spartan, it's real fun.>TFW the ramp opens up and instead of a bunch of terminators it's made the Spartan go from 2 to 6 Laser Destroyers>>97793141Yeah, that's what I was thinking, presumably you could even power the rapier's own tracks while being towed like some modern towed artillery do (at least if I remember it right).Do you think they'd use Rhinos for it though? For whatever reason the idea of either a vanilla Sabre or one that's swapped the hull gun for storage space + a second second seat feels right. Maybe it's just the similarity to the Centaur (not the new one, the OG).
>>97793171i think rhinos are absolutely the go-to vehicle for dragging rapiers around as they are transporty transports as opposed to other manners of tanks which would ostensibly have frontline duties saddled onto them in their being deployed as opposed to being concerned with lugging guns forward alongside troopsfunny thing i just found, on all of the new plastic rapier variants there is an anchoring point for ostensibly, what other than tow cables present on their rear areas in various orientationsother sorts of vehicles could doubtlessly do it but i'd think they would be concerned with other stuff foremostly
>>97793183Makes sense. Plus I guess actually looking at a comparison again, Sabres aren't really all that much smaller than Rhinos.
>>97793186sabres are fucking -fast- too and i wonder how graceful actually tugging along a rapier at full speed would be to the carriage and/or equipment in questionthe rate of travel of a rhino might be more gentle
>>97793183>draggingWould imagine they're driven inside the crew compartment, rather than being pulled behind.
>>97793198there are prohibitions against loading (bulky) shit into rhinos as per the rules and i suspect the base sculpt of the interior as depicted would need its side seats removed to host one at all properlyfrankly i'm not sure if the portrayed dimensions of the rear hatch would accommodate a gun carriage to begin with but i don't think it would be unreasonable for a rhino to be built to spec otherwise to explicitly do so but that would be a pretty specialist vehicle if so
>>97793139>Troop bay ramp opens>It's just more gunTell me how it went, anon

>>97793234Oops all dakka.
>>97793234Very well, actually. Rapiers can't get pre-emptively nuked turn one when you don't have first turn, spartan only has to move once for the rapiers to get in effective range with LOS, and it's a lot of laser-destroyer shots.
>>97793091Based and aware.
>>97793211Tow 2 rapiers behind the Rhino.Put one rapier on top, old future Razorback style.Put one rapier on each side. They are only being carried...but they could be operated with the side doors open.Put a Rapier on the front, pusher style.1 Rhino, 6 Rapiers.
>>97793257Like, any highlights? Conceptually, Land Raiders Achilles look like battering rams to me...but Spartans have about twice their firepower, really.
>>97793299Highlights share a common theme of spartan moving out from behind terrain, the rapiers disembarking, and the two units combined blasting something into oblivion. By definition they CANNOT remain stationary because they are both expected to melee (you said so yourself) and they are Support 1 which prevents them from camping on objectives.D1 DOES NOTHING AGAINST VEHICLES. Let them shoot twice!!
>>97795055>the krak rockets are already in good melta territory>D1 on the move (they always move)
>>97795544I wish missiles were good. Sure you have versatility, but the versatility is kind of ass in effectiveness.
This is what I mean by "tyrants are punished for being generalists".They can punch about as well as a generic terminator squad (not great, but will body most non-terminator/vet units through armor and D2 Ap2). They can shoot like a HSS when it comes to killing vehicles (and have their honestly pretty decent anti-infantry power with the cluster rockets/bolters). But theyre not "55ppm" good at either of those things, and trying to use both of those elements will always leave the other weaker. If theyre staying still to shoot theyre not moving to punch things or use bolters, if theyre moving closer then their rockets are weak. In either case you pay for contingency, for durability, for the fact that "they can do other stuff". But this is an edition largely catered to specialists, so the rate for that contingency is very high.
>>97795703>tyrantsfuck I misread that as tyranids three times, I should probably go to bed

>>97795884Pick one, when you realize you hate them after building and painting 2k points, then go for the other option then realize you just don't really like space marines and join the rank of the mechanicum as you were always meant to
>>97795702>>97795703If we were to rebalance them, I'd rather mess with their datasheet than their price, as you wouldn't need to re-math your list.If Tyrants are kinda useless against vehicles unless they remain stationary, then let their missiles be D2 at all times? They aren't worth standing still for. Heavy (FP) at natural D2 would make me consider stand them still.HSS are given Specialist X so other squads capture objectives better than them. That's understandable. But being terminators, Tyrants could have Vanguard instead. Still useless, but at least the enemy has to mind getting off the objective.I'd houserule Vanguard to be the opposite of the FAQ but that's separate.
>>97795907And if D2, Heavy (FP) and Vanguard X are too big of a pendulum's swing, then pick two of those and a chips flavor. Pretzels counts as a flavor.

>>97797963Shit like that is why I'll never go to large events. You have to pay a large sum to be allowed in to begin with, and the larger crowd means there will be more bad apples amongst the bunch ruining everything.
>>97797849ten thousand million times folded paper-thin nipponese steeruagain, just be very mindful and delicate and gentle in using them and i imagine they'll last forever. i've put mine through some pretty serious shit outside the bounds of strictly intended use and they managed just fine with but some caremy set has a single blade on the one half and basically a bracing face on the other which doesn't have much of an edge to it at all, so it's actually only the one part that's doing much of any cutting while the other exerts pressure and holds everything in place for the severing underwaythe blade itself though is quite thin and delicate. it can absolutely break if one fucks around too much. you don't wanna exert undue force. let the blade do the cutting and only on shit that isn't stupid dummy thicc though it can potentially manage big sprue channels just fine so long as you're nice and ginger with the cut. if shit stalls out be super gentle in escalating the pressure to finish the job, and don't ever flex the angle amidst a snip.probably the best thing i can recommend besides is actually using a coarser set of nippers to take parts out from a sprue with the channels still attached and using a set of godhands or whatever on a freed part as such so that the surrounding frame isn't exerting any pressure at all
>>97797626I think you can make all of or most of one Militia Infantry Troop from the cultists tho obvs they're explicitly Chaos-y; the Ravenwing Bikers can't just swap the riders for Scimitar riders for a basic Outrider unit because the legs are molded onto the bike halves, but you could kind of patiently fudge them into mk5 I guess, or just use their greebling for colour on other units; the Librarian is probably fine as-is, i think he's just in straight Mk6 (though as with most of these things, the purity seals aren't very 30k); the chaplain (if you have him) is also probably fine; the captain wants a head swap (but might make a nice Champion); the Tacticals are all three-piece pushfits, there's two mk6 helmets that might be worth resculpting the knees for, but all 10 models are in mk7 armour, so pretty much the only things usable direct out of the box would be the bolters (which are likely compatible with the current 30k Tactical arms) and the backpacks (which probably don't look wrong on mk6 Tacticals); likewise the terminators might make an Indomitus Terminator squad but you'd need to remove the crux from the left pauldron at least, and one guy has a crux on the knee that has to gopic related is what is *possible* (and not my work) if you want to de-chaos the chaos marines (or for that matter de-mk7 the tacticals) and have altogether too much time on your hands, but that era's CSM were notoriously busy lookingof all the models I would say the cultists (which again would maybe make a complete Infantry Troop, idk about the weapon options) and the DA characters in power armour are the easiest to use; even the Tactical sergeant might make a nice Esoterist or Apothecary without too much work since his tabard hides most of his knees in a forgiving waythey are, for being push-fit as well, extremely nice sculpts and quite a project in their own right to paint in full; if you want to convert them for 30k, go nuts

Whats a good way to make a marine look like a necromancer? Not for a librarian, just a "regular" marine (mortifactor).
>>97798365Techmarine with a chaplain-esque helmet and a cyberfamiliar that looks undead.
>>97797626Well, I literally use that Librarian with HH colors as a 30k Librarian.Cultists can be a miltia mob.Champ and Lord can be WB (or SoH if you lean heard into warpmaxxing), helbrute may work as a mhara gal.

>>97796735>525 pts of Tyrants on the move cannot kill a 65 pts RhinoThat is also true of a HSS of equal numbers, because the tyrants are just "terminators with lascannons".

>>97797626I use the Librarian as a Librarian and the Company Master as a Paladin Of the Hekatonistica. I never owned the biker, terminators or tacticals, but they look straight taken out of pages of HH lore
>>97798702The expectation that they be as good as HSS at their job while also being as good as terminators are at theirs (all at the same time) seems silly.
>>97798881I wouldn't want them to make regular HSS or regular terminators obsolete. They already fight as well as either, though. Pity. They went from being unique in 1.0 (relentless double krak) to being "the same but double price".I do wish they had an incentive to stay still or an incentive to press forwards, but instead Support X with missile and power fist feels schizo.Unironically I'd accept them being the same armaments but Vanguard X.
>>97798702This is 3.0 nigger, your ranged units WILL get charged before turn 2 is over. Siege tyrants don't have to move, because there will be units charging them.
>>97799063Id give them vanguard and probably armor breaker.
>>97799250I'm looking at Fulmentarii. They too are Support, but their plasma missiles have two shots. Armour breaker would be a nice way to add to their anti vehicle firepower without making them obscene against infantry I guess.
>>97799339>theirTyrant's
All I want GW to do is to fix Cenbium Terminators. Give them Line or fix their terran blades.
>>97799356What's wrong with either, specifically? Why do you feel this way
>>97799363Cenobium should be the best terminators in game, and they nerfed the terran swords in general, making them worse thunder hammer for extra cost and for some reason other good terminators get venguard or some extra traits/rules, while Cenobiums got nothing. I would pay companion tartaros over them.
>>97799356>>97799392Really? I think that DA need more than that, like a reaction that makes you win the battle + loser has to give you a blowjob.
>>97799392True. Also, there needs to be a rule that upon a DA player entering the LGS, everybody should spread their cheeks and allow for a sampling of their "Inner Circle"
>>97799339It does, but its also entirely worthless vs vehicles. Tyrants have an Ap3 lascannon, fulmentarus have a r36 plasma gun. I dont know if one can be called far superior to the other. >>97799356Cenobium are absolutely fine. Terranic greatswords work well and do what theyre supposed to do, their rules are in line with other terminator units. >>97799392They have their greatswords for free, and they work as they always had, lower damage/less guaranteed Ap2 but they go before thunder ha,mmers. Youre literally just a faggot.
>>97799392>For extra costThey cost the same. I do notice Broken Claw Cenobium have to pay full 10 pts to swap Terranics for Hammers? Now that's insulting. Something similar happened to Lernaean in 2.0 and it made them borderline unuseable.Feel free to swap to Hammers at no cost.>Cenobium got no Vanguard XNeither do Praetorian Guard termies. But indeed those guys are Retinue while Cenobiums are Vanguard.I ask anons to decide?>>97799418LMAO. Alas no - sounds more SoH than DA. No twinks?
>>97799612
>>97799484>Tyrants have an Ap3 lascannonProblem is, ever since 3.0 arrived I ceased considering lascannons as worthwile antitank. Not bothering with anything weaker than a Laser Destroyer these days. This relegates Tyrant krak missiles to anti-infantry, and at AP3 D1 that's tacticals who, as we've already discussed to death, do not require a dedicated gun as they die to anything already. That means Tyrant armaments are subpar against tanks, or against TEQ, or even against VEQ, and 300 pts minimum mean they literally can't afford to waste themselves on MEQ or lesser. There's room for a squad that is good against something and also incidentally okay against others. There's no room for a squad that is merely okay vs good targets while good against worthless targets.
>>97799484>Terranic greatswords work well and do what theyre supposed to doThey do>their rules are in line with other terminator units. They aren't in line with themselves. Let Broken Claws take Hammers for free
>>97799646As someone who plays against people whos main AT seems to be lascannons (attached to land raiders)? Dont underestimate them. They do not one-tap vehicles, but in numbers they absolutely CAN bring them down, and that D1 is a lot scarier on their stationary return fire. >do not require a dedicated gun as they die to anything already. This is a truism that gets repeated worthlessly every time, being actually good at killing tacticals is an incredibly valuable niche, "everything kills tacticals" is only true insofar as "everything kills everything", efficiency is still absolutely relevant there. This isnt to say tyrants are good into tacticals (not with their kraks anyways)
It is interesting how nobody ever brings up the fact that siege tyrants are one of only two units remaining in the entire game that have Ignores Cover the other being Iron HavocsLike, not even template weapons ignore cover saves any more.
>>97799678>They do not one-tap vehiclesAnon, that means they're shitIf you can't one shot an AV14 vehicle then either it's a spartan and turn 2 it's going to deposit its gaggle of ws5 terminators in your face, or its a Kratos and its Forge lord butt buddy is going to repair it to full no sweat. There is no more "leave a vehicle in a crippled state" in 3.0
>>97799833>Every unit is WS 5 terminators!>Every vehicle is a spartan!>Every weapon is a thunder hammer!
>>97799678>efficiency is still absolutely relevant there.>This isnt to say tyrants are good into tacticalsYou said it yourself. At that price, you can't afford Tyrant's to focus on Tacticals. Tacs specifically - HSS are also MEQ after all, though with drastically different guns and use compared to Tacs lol.>a truismOne that isn't emphasized enough, actually: you don't even need to actually kill tacticals. Even Stun or Pin already removes their scoring, which is their greatest use. Any Terminators end up causing Routed on them by merely EXISTING in the same combat. The one MEQ-killing gun I'd be impressed by would be a Barrage MEQ killer, and that's because it would Route HSS beyond LoS, specifically.
Reading Horus Rising and it describes Luna Wolf Catulans as black with white trim.
>>97799833You say it in jest...I'm fine with Tyrants not killing Spartans in one salvo - they are more "assault-ready" antitank than they are "best" antitank.I do mind them not being antitank at all, given their inability to kill a Rhino on the move>Things shouldn't die in a single turn - you can status vehicles now!Armourbane specifically prevents them from applying a status. Their missiles, Lascannons and Meltaguns outside point blank are antitank that can't apply statuses.Plenty of antitank revolves around killing tanks without ever applying statuses on them, actually. They built a Status system on tanks, then made all antitank guns ignore it, effectively removing the maluses of Penetrating Hits in the process. It's 0 or 100, there's no in-between now.Not that Tyrants will notice, as they don't do much damage either anyways.
>>97799927What about barrage, large blast, with panic 1?If you mean actually killing there's the saturnine dread with two heavy plasma bombard. Breaching 5+ (no reason not to overload) and with barrage 1 it is likely to still get some hits even when it scatters.
>>97799815>tyrants are one of only two units remaining in the entire game that have Ignores Cover1. There's far less reasons to be in cover for anymore, now that artillery and plasma got taken out of the AP game. This makes cover feel more like obstacles than like refuge; makes you as slow as DG for barely any gain.2. The few reasons to keep to cover are: Kratos, Lascannons and Vindicators. Anon here says >>97799857 not every vehicle is a Kratos, or Spartan or similar. I say "every vehicle that matters indeed is one"
>>97799984Those are quite fine and useful. I'm hopeful that the changes make artillery better and more useful than they were in 2.0. They cancel HSS overwatch, for starters. Especially now that HSS lost the Heavy type, for whatever reason, on the one edition it would have mattered lmao
>>97800099Only Stunned would outright cancel their Overwatch, but Suppressed would halve it, and all stats do cancel their Heavy Weapon stationary bonuses
>>97800071>now that artillery and plasma got taken out of the AP gameLol. Lmao. Yea anon, that breaching 5+ getting 20 hits definetly has no AP.
>>97800071>Doesn't know about conversion beamer predators>Or graviton cannon rapiers>Or graviton/phospex arquitor>Or destroyers>Or and the list goes onYeah you didn't even open a rulebook little bro. Tactical marines outside of cover will be vaporised before you can say "Line 2"
>>97800134Unironically went over the weapons list, ignored Rad grenades for being tied to a single niche unit, then englobed Predators, Sicarans Arcus, Arquitors and Rapiers as "similar". The word "similar" is doing some heavy lifting, though maybe it should say "Other / Specialist".Conversion beamer are NOT common in any sense of the word, be they on Predators, Dreadnoughts or Lerneans.
>>97800116>You get AP on 1/3 of 2/3 of your shotsVindicator don't care. Fuck-your-shit blast go
>>97800149Dude, conversion beamer predators are more common than lascannon HSS were in 2.0 by now. Everybody and their grandma runs at least one in their list.
>>97800157A vindicator that hits 3~ marines will cause a lot less damage than a gravis double plasma hitting 10. Vindicators hit like trucks, but that demolisher cannon is NOT for killing large numbers of infantry unless your opponent forgets coherency is 2" for marines.
>>97800166Demolisher cannon is hilarious if, say, a tactical squad's Rhino got destroyed and they were forced to Emergency Disembark. In case you haven't read the rules yes yes I know, nobody here does emergency disembark is the new 1.0 deep strike. Nothing but forced base to base contact.
>>97800175Sure, but even then its like 3/4 hits because they just make a circle around the rhino. A single small blast simply cant hit that many marines unless your opponent makes a nice little circle for you. Large blasts are simply a LOT more area. The strength of the demolisher cannon is that it gives no shits, it can hurt tanks, dreads, automata, terminators or tacticals and do it all "fine enough" for a 130pts box. But that versatility comes at the cost of being not exceptional at any of it compared to more specialized weapons.
>>97800192>they just make a circle around the rhino.Dang I guess I sholdn't been bunching them all up on the far side of the Rhino huh lol>that versatility comes at the cost of being not exceptional at any of itTrue, but I think "versatile" demolishers supported by high antitank is more forgiving to use than high antitank and anti-infantry
>>97800162Wow people really did ditch all those Melta Predators and swap them for Heavy Conversion? Unironically stunned.
>>97800206>Dang I guess I sholdn't been bunching them all up on the far side of the Rhino huh lolYea, probably not. Both because thats cheating and because thats how you die to one demolisher. The emergency disembark is brutal in melee though, because if you cant deploy (because theres an enemy model there, for example) you just die.>>97800212Quad lascannon, vanilla, C beamer and plasma are all pretty solid afaik.
>>97800192That's only if the area around the Rhino is entirely clear. If there is not enough room because other units are next to the Rhino, those tacticals are forced to make a double row and you can easily get like 6 hits.
>>97800216I was just trying to hide them behind the Rhino wreck. Figured it made sense they all tried to form up away from incoming fire
>>97800218>If there is not enough room because other units are next to the Rhino, those tacticals are forced to make a double row and you can easily get like 6 hitsNo actually, then they just die iirc (at least if its enemy models).
>>97800212Brother, all those proud IWfags who owned twelve quad mortar rapiers, three squadrons of medusa and so on had all that vanish overnight when 2.0 dropped. They like to pretend otherwise, but the vast majority of HHfags aren't any better than the most terminal 40k tournament going WAACfaggot.
>>97800216>Executioner>Breaching 4+, D2Why can't this be the standard of what supercharged plasma looks like>Blast 5"Fuck that's scary
>>97800240>Why can't this be the standard of what supercharged plasma looks likeBecause plasma is already good? Double gravis dreads dont need any buffs. But yea, the executioner is scary (was last ed too). Predators are just kinda solid with everything other than the neutron laser and melta.
>>97800233Wrong. If there is not enough room models must be placed in base contact with a model that has already disembarked, and only if that also isn't possible are they removed as casualty. Told you nobody here actually reads the rules.
>>97800249People laugh at my melta predators too, until one tokyo drifts around terrain and one-taps their land raider.
>>97800249>Predators are just kinda solid with everything other than the neutron laser and melta.Nah those are fine too. I think>Plasma already good, just look at dreadsYeah everything is good with a 5" blast lol. Wouldn't mind breaching 4+ on plasma pistols and plasma guns, or D2 or a combination thereof
>>97800315>Yeah everything is good with a 5" blast lolNo joke, even the basic quad mortar profile is kinda scary with two 5" blasts each when stationary.
>>97800315>Nah those are fine too. I thinkI dont know, the melta is weirdly super expensive for how much its been tuned down, and the neutron has gets hot for some reason iirc. >Wouldn't mind breaching 4+ on plasma pistols and plasma guns, or D2 or a combination thereofPlasma guns are also fine. 2 shots breaching 5+ > 1 shot breaching 4+. Plasma is less flashy, but its numerically solid, it just gets enough shots/hits across that its 2/3 breaching becomes quite potent. Thats literally the only issue with plasma, its boring. Mathematically its a scary weapons platform, but it relies on weight of fire rather than singular dangerous hits and that feels bad/not how it used to be.
>>97800389All the rapier weapons are good desu.
>>9780042720 points is not super expensive for a weapon that can one-shot a land raider at 12" with one single penetrating hit anon.
>>97800464The issue is that (on average) it wont. The melta is very specialized and unreliable, which makes it being more expensive than some other options a hard pill to swallow imo. You CAN deal 8 damage and kill a land raider, but you could also miss, or fail to pen (doing nothing), or be out of melta range. Not to mention that having to get into melta range essentially makes it a suicide weapon, if you can use it, chances are your predator dies next turn.
>>97800478We are talking about a unit that costs less than half the points of that land raider. It would be somewhat of a balance issue if it could reliably kill a unit more than twice its point value, which is transporting another unit also more than twice the point value of a melta predator. I just bring two, if one doesn't succeed the second one usually does.
>>97800502>We are talking about a unit that costs less than half the points of that land raiderSure, but its also a unit thats only really good at once single thing and isnt actually all that good at that thing even when it manages to get into the position to do it (which isnt trivial, 12" isnt guaranteed)
Maybe im too harsh on the neutron laser. It isnt insane damage (although consistent D3 isnt BAD), but the big thing is the suppression. You dont take it to kill tanks, you take it because putting suppressed on that kratos is actually pretty valuable. I still dont think its as good as the other predator weapon options, but im coming around to "it has some value".
>>97799984I have two Scorpius tanks, I wonder if these would be a better option..
>>97800772Depends on what you want. The whirlwind is a solid way to apply status effects, but the scorpius will still get more actual kills with two str 8 breaching 5+ small blasts if it can stay stationary.
>>97800427>2 shots breaching 5+ > 1 shot breaching 4+Then gimme two shots at 4+ ;^)
>>97800845Hmm.Perhaps I swap one Scorpius out for a Whirlwind? My list is based entirely on what I own, and what I own is a bunch of random stuff I felt like building.WarsmithCenturionSiege Breaker1x Despoilers2x Tac Squads1x Breachers2x Rhinos10man Autocannon HSS5man Missile Launcher HSS2x Scorpius4x Quad Launcher rapiers2x Vindicators3x Double Plasma Bombard Saturnine5x Tyrant Siege Terminators1x Land Raider CarrierProbably need to cut some stuff and make some changes.
>>97800565Yeah it's utility. Like, it could force superheavies to snapfire. I don't remember if Shock needs to pen to inflict the status lol
>>97800956Nope. Just 5+ to hit.
>>97800962I wish the predator could mount plasma cannon sponsons? Idk would be nice that you could mount sponsons according to the main gun.
