Anyone remember this? I remember having it as a kid but had no clue how to play.
I got back into it with Age of Annihilation, my bro bought Rise of the Valkyrie set some time back and we began playing again with the new stuff. We used to play it when we were younger, and I was surprised the community kept it alive for a decade.I can't say much about other people, but I love a tile based game. I started playing at my local, and while its not as popular, it's system is easy to understand, and from my gamer point of view, while its not super hard core as 40k, nor the new Starcraft Mini, it can be played in multiple ways, and I love the Hero centric focus on small armies. Its easier to get your friends to play, and honestly, just need the core box or some to get games going on. Cant say I agree 100% in how Renegade is handling everything, but it is what it is.(buying land is overpriced imo), but it has a charm I enjoy.
I don't remember but it looks cool
>>97791166I never heard of it when it was new but it came back recently. Tom Vasel was a fan and would talk about it on his channel a lot so that was the first place I heard of it.
>>97791693>Came back recently>See shit for GI Joe>Released this yearDo I just find this shit in retail stores or is it only at hobby stores?
>>97791982This rerelease is to new to say. The original was in toy stores for than game stores. Didn’t seem like a serious game.
>>97791166This is actually the game that initially got me into tabletop games when I was younger. Love it to this day, really fun idea and fairly easy to understand and play.
>>97791166I want to check it out but it seems like quite the commitment, due to the terrain and such.
The amount of product collabs that this game could integrate is truly insane. And unlike Magic it would actually be cool to see and make sense in the context of the games setting and not retsrded and out of place.
>>97791166I just really fucken like the look of the terrain. I wish I had some idea of what they were doing for it tho and which ones were good expansions. My other childish passion, Heroquest is a bit like this... there are limits to how much junk you can pile on top of it to make a great game. It's seldom ever worth getting more than a few expansjons for these things which is why I guess they dry up. Didn't they have Romans and superheroes in the old one? Would be fun.
>>97791166What worldbuilding?
>>97791166I owned a bunch of the sets when I was a kid. Funnily enough I never actually played the game, instead I used the tiles and miniatures for D&D games I ran because I thought they looked better than the standard maps and whatnot.
>>97791166The original line of miniatures might have been the most awesome possible intro to a tabletop game you could show a young boy who’s never played a miniatures game before>WWII soldiers>Samurai >Vikings >Matrix looking secret agents>goblin riding a dinosaur >giant robots>a fucking dragon >weird alien monsters >fantasy elves >you can mix and match these units as you wish It’s familiar enough that it immediately draws you in with its premise. The terrain building feature is the cherry on top. That’s makes the recent reboot so disappointing and disjointed with their total abandonments of historic/traditional fantasy tropes for doing their own, weird thing that makes it feel like a totally different game.
>>97791166Isnt that Age of Sigmar?
>>97794616Isnt that Age of Sigmar?
>>97797288Age of Sigmar is much gayer
>>97794616They are reintroducing historical/fantasy figures. Next sets have samurai, the Nuckelavee, the Krampus, among other things.
>>97792579Same. It's baby's first wargame for zillenials
>>97797851More like the only wargame worth playing>No endless editions>No new units completely invalidate old ones>Community run, for the most part>Unique blend of tropes, done well>Simple, easy to learn rules that, through the units, allows for mechanical depth.>Customs welcomed and encouraged.>Mother. Fucking. SOULBORGS.It's literally the only wargame I play. I would play Infinity but it has both no scene were I'm at AND my friends are fantasy fags, they can't get into a game unless there is magic involved.
