>Perfect setting don't exi-Tyranny is perfect in vibe, aesthetic, tone, lore, and history. I might port it into GURPS Dungeon Fantasy.
>>97792105Then do it.A setting, a plot, an idea, is next to worthless until it's actually used, and how well it works is down to its execution, not the given setting, plot, or idea itself inherently.
>>97792105Equestria and you know I'm right
>>97792105Was the Act 3 patch worth a damn? I'm the kind of navel-gazing sophist that likes the "challenge your humanity" games, but they did the fucking Obsidian thing again and fell apart at the end.
>>97792435Wasn't (isn't?) there a MLP RPG?I considered buying t and use it to GM a Fluffy Pony-campaign for shits and giggles.
>>97792463There's two. The older one is very Babby's First RPG, the newer is a little more involved.>fluffiesBunnies and Burrows, either the original or the GURPS adaptation.
>>97792463Two RPGs (Tails of Equestria and the Essence 20 one) and multiple card games. The horse show is more /tg/ than half the threads on the catalog now.All we're missing is a pony wargame
>>97792471There's a /vst/ for it, and it mogs the entire rest of the HoI4 total conversions catalog. My group regularly runs FoE in a variety of systems.
>>97792471There's also a Savage Worlds version which has some good spells in it.
>>97792105i think iron realms MUDs would make a smooth enough transition to an rpg space
>>97792105Bronze age is just better as far as itemization and artifacts go.
>>97792435>kid-trampling horsefuckerGo back where you belong.
>>97794476Seethe.
I'm surprised there's not even a fanmade module for Grimjack or First Comics in general.
>>97792105
(2020)/Interlock rules for no!Xcom settingMay Allah forgive me for uttering this idea: Azumanga Daioh or Cromartie High School campaign with Outgunned ruleset
>>97792105Tyranny is basically just Malazan Book of the Fallen with filed off serial numbers
>>97794794Do you get to go on a date with the evil lady?
>>97794899No.
>>97792471>The horse show is more /tg/ than half the threads on the catalog now.I'm so glad mods put more effort in deleting any colorful horse from a show that ended 7 years and with games we're not allowed to talk about it instead of doing something about "does air exist in your setting" threads
Avatar>it already has a gameit looks gayBut I will give it props for bothering to explore niche aspects of the setting like piracy, for instance
>>97792128/thread
Now you're not ready for this, but Eternia has potential, even if playing as the main guy is not an option.>>97795956The Dragon Prince is an option too
>>97792105Isn't this just Midnight?
>>97798462>The bad guy won, and rules over an empire of cruelty and terror with incredible magics>The few forces of good remaining exist largely because the bad guy's minions are too busy scheming against each other to finish the jobI guess.
>>97792105>Tranny
>>97792105Metroid
>>97797793Eternia is a great setting, I guess it had been home-brewed since times immemorial. I kind of like Masters of Umdaar's setting, not the rules, kinda wokey but at least it feels way less woke than the newer MOTU series they had been tried to push to the audience in recent years.Another great scenario from the top of my head are Thundarr the Barbarian, which could be emulated so good with Barbarians of the ruined earth.I wonder what TTRPG could emulate Pirates of the Dark Water on point?.
>>97798916Savage Worlds, Outgunned, Hollow Earth Expedition, Pirate Borg, Fate Accelerated, 2d20 (probably the Conan version of it), Genesys...Literally anything that's fast and loose, and also premiums teamplay.
>>97798916Oh, right: any given version of BoL, I'd probably go with Dicey Tales. OVA works well, too, being a neat and quick universalAlso:That cartoon is overrated as fuck. I will probably never understand the weird hype around it that emerged circa 2015, when people started to fawn and moan about how awesome it is. I feel robbed of 8 hours of my time, barely got out of it two usable ideas for gaming.
>>97792105Ultrakill kinda, at least as a setting I think it has the looks and enemy roster for it. Along with there being a GM-type character in the form of hell itself and the fun of being able to re-arrange the board on the players. Gameplay I don't think would work for a TTRPG due to being a style shooter and those seem like they'd suck in turn based formats (I know someone tried adapting Doom to one so maybe i'm wrong?).
>>97805833It has a lot of neat environmental setpieces for inspiration, at the very least.
>>97794794I can see the similarities, but I'd argue Glen Cook's Dread Empire and Black Company were a bigger influence.
Gundam's Post Disaster continuity. Lots of mercenaries and other independents, fractured state of interplanetary politics means lots of conflicts, lost technology from the big robot war hidden around the solar system, including giant killer robots for high level loot and climactic boss battles, all the mechs are built on a handful of highly customizable frames allowing players lots of freedom for character building.
>>97797793>The Dragon Prince is an option tooNo, it isn't.
>>97797793>even if playing as the main guy is not an option. The best settings are ones where you can imagine playing as almost anyone, not just the main guy
>>97792105Bioshock. I feel like it’s basically tailor-made to be a tabletop setting.
>>97798916They apparently made a Pirates of Dark Water RPG in the 90’s. It’s on Archive.org and might be a good place to start because I don’t know if it’s aged well.
>>97808860>Bioshock. I feel like it’s basically tailor-made to be a tabletop setting. Not that I'm arguing against it, mind, but why say that?
>>97815392There’s a lot unexplored, in both Rapture and Columbia, and I think they offer a good opportunity for people to tell their own stories within the setting. Rapture between 1 and 2, Pre-Civil War Rapture. I have no idea what story I would tell in Columbia but I feel like underutilized places and ideas like Emporia and some of the cut Belle Epoque/Victorian culture stuff could be used. Plus the political and class tension and even tension between Columbia and the surface. A major theme of the series is choice which is something that comes up a lot in tabletop games. Could be good if you have a talented GM for subversions wrt railroading or whatever. Also shooting ravens and lightning out of your hand is tight as fuck and more games both RPG and video should let me do that.
>>97792105Man I loved that game, shame about the third act though, or rather lack of it
>>97794453Tyranny explicitly was early iron age though, the evil empire is a mix of Neo-Assyrian and Achaemenid Persia
>>97816282EH either or.
>>97792105>Settings that should be TTRPGsLiterally nothing prevents you from picking any given setting and run it on any fucking game that isn't custom-made for specific setting.Games that exists solely so a setting X can be done in them are one ofthe dumbest design schools in existence. It achieves fuck-all and is just a shitty marketing gimmick to sell the game based on the fucking wrapper, not the content>b-but setting is contentOh really? So I guess it matters not what crunch I'm going to add. Guess time to write a 2d6 hack for Tyranny and sell it to morons like you. Should take about a day to do so. And it's going to be perfectly lore-accurate. Never mind it's going to be only lore
