The issue is that on the model the grill is more U shaped, while in the picture next to it, the grill is clearly more arch shaped and not just a straight walled U.

So I have finally gotten around to accepting that GW killed my beloved Shadow Specters, but I love the models so I wanna use them again.
Think I would get complains if i used them as say, Wrap spiders or something? Been using Irillyth as a jump Autarch for a while anyway.

Hey everyone, it's once again time for the collage anchor posts. This month's theme was "big stick" and was left up to your own interpretation. Could be a melee unit, a guy with a literal big stick or whatever you think fits the theme.
I'll try to make an anchor every thread until the deadline. As usual the deadline is the last day of the month. Best way to not be missed is to submit the model in reply to my posts but I'll look through the archive too.
Here is the vote for next month's theme:
https://strawpoll.com/X3nkPLNJzgE
Looking forward to seeing what you've come up with.

So after going over the feedback I think we'll go with the top two themes this time, if the current leader wins. Hope that works for everyone.

Been farting around LGSs for 30+ years so way too many stories. Alot of drama turns into one group opening yet another game store in town to have their own tree fort until it also goes out of buissiness. Currently there are 6 operating stores + Warhammer store that I know of and 18 once stores that closed down to my memory. Top drama would be there's four gamers I know of that went to prison for kid diddling and CP.

The one guy that played 40k was space marines. His desk top broke, took it to Best Buy to get fixed and apparently didn't put any effort into hiding the CP folder. Two were a husband and wife that molested their daughter and apparently invited others to join. They gave away all their game stuff as they got 20+ terms. From someone else I ended up with the husband's AD&D 2nd players handbook signed to him buy Gygax. Last was the room mate of one of the LGS counter monkeys. They shared a computer and he came across the CP folder and turned him in.

Also I’ve started the next month’s guy already. Crucible lets you make an apothecary that can actually be hardcore which is nice.

Loadout and rules:

Champion of the chapter base so he gives rerolls to wound once per turn in the shoot or fight phase.

Conversion field upgrade to get a 4++ invuln for 10 points so he costs 80 total.

Narthecium so he brings back a model a turn.

He can take one one rifle sized weapon, 2 pistols, and up to 2 melee weapons.
Combiweapon as a rifle, inferno pistol and absolver bolt pistol, and a MC chain sword which is Sustained 1, 7 attacks, ap-1 d2, and a servo arm for an extra attack at ap2 damage 3. Just trying to find a servo arm to add to his backpack and I’ll have it all built. Gonna go through my LGS’ bits box tomorrow.

does anyone have a new cadian shock trooper as well as a palanite enforcer that they would be able to take a pic of?

I cant find this specific side by side anywhere online. I have some enforcers in my little army and I want to get some cadians to kitbash. However I have extreme size autism and im afraid the cadians will be too smol next to them. I plan on using 3rd party heads if that may help at all. Much appreciated. Pic unrelated

I don't know what they were thinking with the Deathguard one. That one is so obscene for the price no matter how you build it.
The Drukhari one isn't actually as crazy as it seems considering they already have an Anti-infantry 3+ with Dev Wounds character and people don't even use it in the army because it's bad.

>>
>>97794304
It's a really big difference
The Anti-Infantry Dev Wounds Archon has 7 attacks, and is doing what, 4 mortals?
The Crucible one does d3 damage each hit, and you can give him overwatch immunity or sustained while retaining rerolls to hit. Since the army can quite easily stack sustained or crits 5 in certain detachments you just end up with a smallish unit that costs 150 points + transport that will kill basically every single elite infantry unit in the game without the unit being able to roll a single save then jump into a venom

Normal typhus corrosion is very liquidy. Might be able to do something similar with a texture paint like stirland mud or something.

How many of you 3D print as a side-hobby out of curiosity? And are there any armies you'd say have better third party OC than official GW stuff on average (that you've personally made)?
>>
>>97793977
Kiss my ass, the new helmet was like 80% of my beef with the Primaris design
>>
>>97794410
Almost all the third party models look subtly off from the GW design standards, and that probably is intentional to keep them from getting Cease and Desisted. Guard and Space Marines have the widest variety of options by far, as you might imagine. You can probably find some decent options for every faction though if you look. I've seen some really good Eldar ones posted here over the years before they got their refesh. It depends how strongly you feel about the GW sculpts for each individual model and whether you hate the current official one or not.

valrak leaked this a few months back but valrak is retarded and people figured out what is actually going to be in there

Melee Captain and Jump Chaplain have both been shown
The 'Speeder' was initially said to be a scout speeder by Valrak and we can see it's more of a classic design
The Mk7 Intercessors have been shown
The VanVets were in the cinematic
People figured out that the 'eradicators with bolters' is most likely the Heavy Frag Cannons that the Deathwatch guys have.

So we now know that the 11th ed Marine box has -
Intercessors with Mk7 Helmets
Gravis with Frag Cannons
Scout Speeder
VanVets
Jump Chaplain
Melee Bladeguard Captain
Librarian

despite what loreslop youtubers or reddit say, Custodes are not monolithic entities.
They actually have varied personalities.
Some are nice, some are assholes. Diocletian even went from disdaining normal humans before the Siege to pitying them and giving his cape to a lost kid.
They just cannot disobey the Emperor.
They can, and did, tell to his face how dumb some of his ideas are, like the whole primarchs project.
Now compare that to (loyalist) space marines, whose personalities are basically an aspect of their primarch's.
>>
>>97794540
librarian makes sense if the Orkz get a weird boy as well. could mean they are redoing how Psychic works and want to give both sides a psyker
>>
>>97794645
If they were redoing psychic, don't you think they would have mentioned that in their big core rules shakeup? That's something that would have to be done codex by codex anyway.
>>
>>97794544
Finally, I was waiting for my cum delivery
>>
>>97794668
There's going to be an awful time like a year and a half into the game where half of the codex are newly designed for 11th Edition and half of them are all lagging behind with outdated rules that don't work properly with the new systems. I can already foresee most of the factions sitting on three mix-and-match mini detachments for half the edition while Space Marines and Orks have a dozen each.

I've been thinking about getting into modeling, maybe Space Wolves since I like the Viking thing and their chapter organization seems a lot cooler to me than the Codex. Even if a lot of their lore is a bit mary sueish at points. However they have no Long Fang models at the moment. Am I going to have to wait until half way through 11th when Russ comes back or are there some descent Primaris models that actually feel like they fit the role

In typical GW shortsightedness they built the cheapest possible terrain (just flatpanels that glue together to form walls) and then made rules that made the terrain almost essential, without realizing that every picture of a 40k game with that terrain would look like ass and hide all the wonderful sculpted models and fantastic painjobs that really sell the game.

They should just make good terrain pieces themselves for use at tourneys or whatever and then offer them pre-painted for a premium or unassembled for a bit cheaper. Play a game and like a terrain piece? Buy it for your own personal use!

I don't touch the actual game of 40k but I would imagine part of the appeal is having a feeling of your guys being involved in battles in diverse environments. Trenches, Urban warfare, mountain side. You could probably attract players to the store to play just by presenting them with cool map options they wouldn't be able to have at home.

I think i'm cautiously optimistic about 11th rules, the being able to hide in terrain while visible means that hopefully you don't have to hide behind things.

I Started in 3rd edition and I remember building trench lines and buildings, but also forest and hills and canyons for games, shooting was less reliable then but could be way more swingy, a tank could just eat shots for days, or just explode in one shot. various editions had various rules, some of them had heavy cover saves that basically made sitting in area terrain a no brainer, while others allowed you to go to ground to increase your save with bonuses in certain terrain. Another solution was Night fighting, where you had true line of sight but there was a chance that either the first or the last turn would happen at night (either a pre dawn attack, or night descending after a long fight) and that limited the distance that you could draw true line of sight so first turn full board alpha strikes weren't possible on turn 1 or on turn 6 where fighting for objectives would come down to more personal local fights, and some units actually getting access to night vision.

The game has never been more popular, and its not in its worst state, but its no longer as beautiful as it once was.
>>
>>97794917
The prize pool, mostly it's not like warhammer events are going gangbusters. I also wasn't aware of any having 300+ dollar tickets, even the US open is only like 250. Maybe narrative events get into that ballpark? But those are the ones you see actual terrain at

If there was a choice between the game being broken favoring either melee or shooting armies, on principle it is better to favor the melee armies. Melee combat in a sci fi universe is what differentiates 40k from everything else, and on the tabletopmelee combat imo is just overall more fun to interact with.
>>
I hope Grey Knights get a refresh. The Crowe model is pretty good and it looks like they'll be sticking to being Firstborn. The Terminus decree was retarded tho and I'm hoping we get something to replace baby carrier. Or if they just get folded into Imperial Agents.

Valrak says they are, and valrak clearly has an inside source for the past couple of years. Also, primaris as a concept i think is just being phased out entirely. Yes the models will stay, but the word "primaris" and the lore surrounding it will appear less and less.

I'm kind of against that because Inquisitorial Agents is where factions go to die and Sisters are alright, Deathwatch and Greyknights just need a little TLC. >Dwarf
Fantasy race who uses runes on everything.
>Empire
Sanctioned wizards, hedge wizards, hell, Dogs of War employed hedge wizards, and the mere existence of hedge wizards suggests magic is wide-spread enough for there to be untrained, uncontrolled magicians. Araby's people imprison djinn to do their bidding, whose viziers are wizards of incredible power, who use FLYING CARPETS AS WAR MACHINES. Norsca, where you got werewolves, Kislev where the queen is an ice wizard, etc. They're much higher fantasy than you give them credit.
>High Elves
Dragons, magic, sorcerers, phoenixes, Teclis founded the Empire's magic school.
>Wood Elves
Tree people everywhere.
>Dark Elves
Magic giant castle-boats taming tons of magic beasts from hydras to dragons to lizardmen cold ones and their society revolves around a magic leader in life-support armor.
>Ogers
They're ported to AoS with few changes compared to all the new Dwarf, Elf and human armies.

It’s arguably more dumber for it to be on that considering the terrain it’s on. But I won’t let you people try and say that fantasy wasn’t dumb fun in its inception before its enshitification towards 6th edition. To deny that is to deny what warhammer is itself.
>>
>>97795514
Anons in WH threads are nitpicky whiners who have no idea wtf warhammer is all about.
They whine when the IG is not a 1:1 copy of a ww2 army, despite the army is supposed to be bastardised satires of soldiers.
They whine how space marines dont look like how they want to, despite it being the easiest faction to kitbash and customise.
They whine how AoS is aburd, despite it looking the most like old WHF art.
If it were up to them we would be playing Bolt Action for 40k and Middle Earth Strategy Game for AoS. And they would unironically say it would be a good thing.

That's the problem with modern views of WHFB. For some reason, people interpret it as grounded rather than filled with retcons and magic handwaves. And for some reason, people downsize the magic or even what factions were the most popular. It wasn't Empire or Bretonnian peasants 24/7, it was big bad armor man Viking Chaos Warriors who sold like hotcakes.

Yes, but first of all, the core rules are changing so learning the current ones for someone coming back from a decade long pause is only going to be wasted time at best and at worst cause confusion.

Second there is the chance that some core rules changing will result in the faction rules working differently, a thing that happened often.

And finally with a new edition coming there is going to be a new codex cycle, so there is hope of something.

They got the first codex of the edition, so powercreep left them behind. Also basically the new edition came out with the promise of a big rework to morale that was supposed to be very impactful to the game and make it a central point. And because Tyranids were the frontline army of the edition they got a major focus on it.

Unfortunately GW is incompetent and Morale ended up being a complete nothingburger, and Tyranids got stuck with it.

Cultist is a perfect-to scale to the Primaris marine that'll make my dudes feel like "not guardsmen in armor". I like uniformity in the marine armors like they produced their own armor from an ancient lost factory.

IF and RG have cooler successors than themselves. IH are within a hair.
The Istvaan legions have better successors than average, maybe because for a while they didn't have any for a while, they had longer to cook in the forge.
BA are my favorite first founding chapter but their successors are all really similar. They're basically alternate paint jobs.

Blood Angels. They all try to be something different.

DA successors are just DAs in different colors (t. DA fag)

Ultramarines are a mixed bag at best.
Sallamanders have a few weird ones, but ultimately either differently colored Sallies or basic like ultras.

Since they already have AI you might as well let them into the Webway. Honestly I think the League was too distinct from the rest of the Imperium, it really should have been fluffed up as a sort of mercantile counterpart to the Navigators or Mechanicus. Less powerful overall, but still responsible for a lot of raw resource extraction and interstellar trade that they use as leverage for special deals and more autonomy same as the Mechanicus.

See they're pulling from good stuff, the problem is that Votann:
Weren't around during the Imperial Armour era so they don't get that milsim crunchiness
Were around during the grog era but GW will only give the grogs what they want when every other option has been exhausted
Were (re)created during the slop era so they have stupid names and blocky unrealistic designs.
Like the other anon said, time travel is the best option. The other options are to give their best to a faction that doesn't economically justify it (if they even can), or rip off something more competent like Deep Rock Galactic or >>97796163.
The only other thing Votann has going is the Ironkin, even with Necron and Tau I don't think there are sentient AI as such in 40k otherwise.

Their problem in the modern Imperium is that abhumans probably wouldn't be allowed to have a special status but making them just the equivalent of an IG regiment would be pretty bland as well. As for the design, if you took the runic decorations from Votann and slapped them onto the Necromunda Squats with some less retarded looking guns, I'd find them to be a bit cooler. And give them back land trains in some form. Surely GW can figure out some sort of tracked articulated vehicle design.

You might be able to just use the missions from the knight combat patrol mode. They have alternative missions that dont revolve around just stat checking your opponents.

Or just ask them "hey I'm new, I have 3 wardogs is that okay I don't really know what I'm doing and I'm worried the game won't be fun because they are high toughness". TALK TO PEOPLE, if its a teaching game it should be 100% fine, and if they have large collections and are above 100IQ they are probably smart enough to bring a list that can actually interact with those dogs.

You are a newb, most actual IRL communities are very n00b friendly and will be willing to work with you.

I keep on wondering if Marines are potty trained or not (or if they lost their potty training) given their armor recycles their waste.

Why does GW hate nids so much? They were good for a single edition in their entire existence as a faction.

Tyranids are winning 51% at the moment, 9th overall. Seems fine to me.
