With how much the board is overly critical of D&D, I figured it would be interesting to find out what system /tg/ likes running?
D&D
>>97799563AD&D, Traveller, Paranoia and Call of Cuthulu.
My favorite system is WFRP 4e, but since it's 4e and old good new bad, someone out there will scream at me how 2e is better.
i dont play games, so i dont run any system.
>>97799563>boardA handful of trolls hardly represent this board any more than an idiot represents their village.
>>97799563Against my better judgement, Exalted.
>>97799563I don't really like any RPG systems. In all of them I hyperfixate to what they do wrong. I can't help it.
>>97799766I'm sure your village is relieved to hear you say that.
>>97799563This year we've played some Savage Worlds Deadlands, Call of Cthulhu, 5.5e, and Dark Heresy. I think my next game is gonna be Barbarians of Lemuria.
>>97799749I have love hate relationship with warhammer 4e. Sometimes it feels nice and sometimes it has too many sub-systems and feels fiddly
For a board that hates D&D, they sure seem to play a lot of D&D..
>>97799563I have no qualms with running my (very heavily homebrewed) 5.5. However, I enjoy running Digimon Digital Adventures (group is full of Digimon fans so it's an easy go-to), and a bunch of my homebrew/original systems.
>>97799923Yeah, in some ways it's a step up from 2e, and in some ways its a step back. Glad they're doing s 5e, the core book desperately needs a revision.
>>97799766That's why there's no problem with a thread asking about what other games people like. Because instead of just railing on D&D for the hundredth time, this thread is asking for positive alternatives. You need to stop letting trolls live in your head rent free.
>>97799923You know, can't really fault you for it.It does have a lot of fiddly bits and the main rulebook is a mess when it comes to formatting.
>>97800055If you're gonna start a thread off with a lie, expect to be corrected.
>>97800069>/tg/ hating on D&D>a liethe naivety!
>>97799563Certainly not Forbidden Lands.I liked Mystic Bastionland, Spire the City Must Fall, Alien and Vaesen. However out of all of them I'd recommend buying only Mythic Bastionland.I would like to run more of Slugblaster and One Ring.I would probably run a heavily modified 5e for the local anime chat, but I'd prefer there would be some good dedicated anime TTRPG. So far all games like that looks cringy.
>>97800151I hear a lot of good things about Forbidden Lands, and it's supposedly the best use of Year Zero system.
I don't like running, I prefer to sit.
>>97800161Well, maybe I'll give it a try someday (doubt). I even made a custom card with the main abilities. But I bounced hard from the following things:- Gathering a dice pool from different colors is fiddly.- Armor rolls are annoyingly fiddly.- The Will meta currency (your MPs) feels poorly thought through. It is too easy to find yourself without or with too many points when it relies on you failing the rolls to be able to use your abilities. I guess it need some quick fix, but I am afraid home rule can unpredictably make it worse.- Some talents like Lucky or the one that omits the pain rule are ridiculous solutions to artificial problems.- Crafting and base building are here, but it is a mirage. How much and in what exact quantities should players get the resources? Up to GM. Up to GM my ass.- RAW hex crawl is boring. There are simply too many generic checks to role-play them properly, and not that many impactful events.- Game really implies that you should use an official campaign like Raven's Purge, but I am not impressed by the lore or how the plot goes. Especially some "DMPC" bard-trickster rubs me the wrong way.
>>97800073The effort you go to in order to try and pretend the most played RPG on this board is hated here is sad. Imagine how much /tg/ must hate all the other games that make up less than 20% of what people play here; in your mental universe that is.
>>97799563I like Call of Cthulhu, Savage Worlds (with a few alterations) and Pathfinder 1e. I currently have a game running 2/3 of these systems. Feel free to hate.
>>978000695e is shat on here constantly not sure what you are on about but that's how it is when something is popular on 4chan.
>>97799563D&D 4E and homebrew games.
>>97801127You're dealing with a schizo who has spent a decade of his life on /tg/ arguing with strangers that they don't actually hate 5e. He says dumb shit like this all the time because he cannot accept that anyone could have any kind of legitimate problem with "The World's Greatest Roleplaying Game"
>>97801412He was whining about people complaining about Pathfinder before 5E was out. Longer than a decade. Imagine being that sad of a person.
>>97799563Homebrew. It's probably closest to bitd.
>>97799563Labyrinthus
>>97799563I enjoy the FFG 40k rpgs (specifically have a huge soft spot for Dark Heresy 1e), 7th Sea, Traveller, Shadowrun 4e, PF1e, Pf2e and recently had a lot of fun with a custom mashup of Lancer and Warbirds.
