Are there any systems or rules for generating random combat maps? I am playing ACKS with my friends and thought it would be easy to come up with random combat maps during exploration in the wilderness but turns out it wasnt.
>>978087451974 dnd if you use the chainmail terrain method. Sure they arent random because bith side place the terrain but it can still lead to interesting encounters.
>>97809042hm. could be fun to try. and then we roll to see where each side starts?
>>97808745Take old warhammer fantasy battle terrain generators, lots of variety. Divide the area into 6 sections like it was a wargame table. Rolls 1d3 terrain pieces for each section.
Various biome types. Mix these in with details on your hex key. D30 Sandbox Companion and/or DMs Miscellany Wilderness work well for me. Having a few premade distributions in the notebook or on an index card has sped things up.
>>97809662>>97809560that worked pretty good today. thanks anon.
>>97812614np iirc I got them from warhammer 6th ed. There's a bunch more for different sorts of places.
>>97809560>>97809662>>97809042I never needed to generate random terrain but it's nice to see I now can, thanks.
>>97808745Roll on the Wilderness chart in D&D
>>97808745>playing ACKSlol, you mean working through it. It's a chore, not a game.
>>97815000which is why I have homebrewed the shit out of it
>>97808745>I am playing ACKSMy condolences
