Why did the Star Wars RPGs never quite take off for the nuQuels
You'd think there would be a whole new flood of content, but there's just nothing after the sequels.
>>
>>97814166
By the time the sequel trilogy had concluded, FFG had shut down its Star Wars RPG line due to licensing bullshit.
>>
License drama, ownership issues.
what theh fuck is a nuquel
>>
>>97814166
I distinctly recall the RPGs being from the Clone Wars Multimedia Project days, which are EU stuff the new boss was clueless on at best and actively disdainful of at worst. It's probably for the best, as it'd almost certainly just be D&D 5e reskin shovelware instead of building upon any of the significantly tailored engines.

that's melanin

I thought that was a cancerous mole

no mole rats are immune to cancer

contained in nyquel or however it's spelled
>>
>>97814263
nyquil doesn't actually have any melatonin, it's paracetamol, dextrometorphane, and antihistamines. Don't pair with chicken. Also you kinda missed the joke i'm afraid.

holy SHIT

NTA Prequel - Anakin - Lucas
Original - Luke - Lucas
Sequel - Kai - Disney
Nuquel - Book of Boba, Andor, Mandalorian (at least in my interpretation)

Kai?

FFG'S SW RPG is in limbo, there has been nothing new for years.
The sequels were also utter dogshit, much like most of the streaming stuff.

The only actually good streaming series were the first wo season on Mando (overshadowed by Disney's PR suicide after firing Gina Carano) and Andor (but apparently zoomies can't handle a show without lightsabers, and Disney fucked up the marketing)
Parts of Ahsoka were cool, but BoBF, Kenobi and Acolyte were so shit they couldn't sell merch. Why would you want an RPG supplement for this shit?

So to sum it up, Disney shat the bed completely and SW is dead.

He probably meant Rey-Sue nobodypalpatineskywalker

True

If only we were so lucky

They can't be born in July? Is it because they're Eusocial?

FFG released a Force Awakens era starter set and adventure module when the movie came out. The Last Jedi nuked any potential the sequels had and Rise of Skywalker pissed on the ashes.

Then COVID hit and FFG got cannibalized to defraud investors into thinking the vulture companies were growing. The Star Wars RPG system is effectively done, held by a company with no intention of even producing more dice.

Luckily the FFG system is in a great place. There is a wealth of content to run a campaign in any of the movie eras, plus a thriving community homebrew scene as well. If you want to run in the sequels you can, there’s plenty of generic statblocks to draw from.

FFG/Asmodee/EDGE still has the license, they did a reprint of all the books with the EDGE logo and they're still reprinting stuff (you can tell because books will be insanely expensive and only available 3rd party and then suddenly they'll be normally priced.)

I think it's more that EDGE is a zombie company with a ghost staff, and they would actually have to hire people to write new stuff, and why do that when they can just rerelease the old shit? I think more people are interested in the original trilogy/immediately after, and those game lines are essentially complete.

Of course they want to keep the IP running, but I'm not holding my breath for upcoming Mando movie
The Starfighter movie next year is basically a clean sheet, which may be a good idea but OTOH it's again linked to the shitty sequels.

They hired too many idiots, they actively insulted their core fandom for years, they outright refuse to do teh smart thing and use their existing treasure trove of stories and characters. . .
>>
>>97814166
"Star Wars Fatigue", according to Disney's damage control brigade, famous also for calling fans entitled, saying their fan theories suck, and calling them bigots for any criticism against their shitty writing.
>>
To add to all the anons correctly assessing the FFG situation I want to add:
It's basically a completed system. There is tons of material for enemies, talents, vehicles, gear, resolution mechanics etc. and you are hard pressed to add something new in a meaningful way.
Playing as jedi, thief, senator, pilot and whatnot is all covered.
It is so good that the genesys homebrews are more often than not just starwars mechanics with the serial numbers filed off.

Unless you need an official source telling you that the stat block for Kylo Ren or Glibb Shitto is precicely this and that, I don't see why anyone would need much more for material unless you absolutely have to consume.
It's not like the movies introduced particularly new concepts. Vehicles remained the same across the board but with a different paint job .

It's just weird how decades ago anyone could pay royalties to Lucasfilm/LucasArts and a Star Wars TTRPG would be guaranteed money to the point where the royalties would be effectively meaningless.
A healthy IP capitalizes on its opportunities, and big name TTRPGs have never been conscientious where actual game design is concerned; they just want to put that big name out with a fresh coat of paint.
Just look at how many reskins of Monopoly there are, for fuck sake, and that hasn't added anything new in a meaningful way since it's inception almost a century ago.
>>
>>97814166
... but Luke didn't know Leia was his sister until shortly after the events on Jabba's sail barge.
>>
>>97814166
I have no interest in buying into disney's knock-off when there's already 40 years of star wars content that is more interesting
>>
>>97814854
>nobodypalpatineskywalker
>Rey is part of the Not Important family from Hatred
Honestly, would make a better movie.
>>
>>97814166
the disney triology was creatively bankrupt and lacked the kind of creative foresight to make a saga. They would have been better off making a bunch of 1 of movies like rogue one but then the muh force is female wouldn't be in competition. I hated the last jedi when it came out but in hindsight its the only decent movie of that trilogy.

Star wars has always been a narrow universe with only 2 factions that really matter and that has not changed in the last 30 years.
