Pigheaded Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ>third party sources for making trenchers:https://pastebin.com/YzXPVUAcUse these (and/or 3D printing) instead of the official plastics as their pricing contradicts the accessibility to the game (price wise) Trench Crusade was founded on.>Trench Companion, awesome warband builder and campaign trackerhttps://trench-companion.com/>Previous Thread:>>97749859>Thread Question:How do we repair public perception of Trench Crusade?
>TQKind of difficult because autism is rampant in this hobby. Then there is the hipster mentality that all wargamers and TTRPG players have when they like a game that isn't the big shots like Warhammer or DnD etc.So in TC's case it might be next to impossible as it has gotten big.Like I would argue nearly as big as Warhammer at this point as TC might be the go-to choice for recommending an alternative to the Warhammers among normies.
Was it good that I missed the Kickstarter?I kinda would rather spend 60 bucks on high quality injection molded minis than resin-trapped 3D printed ones.I really just want pic related and a few of the pointy-hat dudes.
>>97820513I think public perception isn't the right question here. Public perception is "huh whats that" or "Oh its like warhammer kinda". Same thing as asking "how do we fix Mork Bork's public perception".If we're talking wargaming as a whole? Unless you've been actively roped into the piss-and-vinegar of discourse (which most people aren't, posters are far outnumbered by passive observers) you probably see it as the new upstart with cool art and not a whole lot else right now... which is reasonably accurate.
>>97820513>TQ>"Hey dude wanna try and play Trench Crusade?">>"Isn't that the game where the devs hunt down and torture people who 3D print to death?">"Nah that was just a closeted slav making drama.">>"Ahh. Yeah sure man we can play this weekend."Thank me later Chuds and Chudettes. There’s literally nothing else to do. Most of the people who criticize the lore and portrayals of Christianity and Islam are nogames and wouldn’t try the game anyway. Notice how no one shit talks the gameplay?
>>97821296>Notice how no one shit talks the gameplay? That can also mean that nobody here is able to get games which is a common problem with anything that isn't one of the big shots like Warhammer and DnD etc. Also apparently Tabletop Simulator doesn't count so if nobody at the LGS wants to try TC then there's no way to dodge the dreaded nogames label.
>>97821376>apparently Tabletop Simulator doesn’t countThat was one troll and a random shit poster having a meltdown last thread, TTS is not as good as the real thing but it counts. If you can’t get anyone at the LGS or one of your friends to play then it’s an ok substituteIt will always be hard to get people to play tabletops, the hobby is smaller than you think if you ignore 40k and dnd players since they refuse to try anything else
