Pigheaded Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ>third party sources for making trenchers:https://pastebin.com/YzXPVUAcUse these (and/or 3D printing) instead of the official plastics as their pricing contradicts the accessibility to the game (price wise) Trench Crusade was founded on.>Trench Companion, awesome warband builder and campaign trackerhttps://trench-companion.com/>Previous Thread:>>97749859>Thread Question:How do we repair public perception of Trench Crusade?
>TQKind of difficult because autism is rampant in this hobby. Then there is the hipster mentality that all wargamers and TTRPG players have when they like a game that isn't the big shots like Warhammer or DnD etc.So in TC's case it might be next to impossible as it has gotten big.Like I would argue nearly as big as Warhammer at this point as TC might be the go-to choice for recommending an alternative to the Warhammers among normies.
Was it good that I missed the Kickstarter?I kinda would rather spend 60 bucks on high quality injection molded minis than resin-trapped 3D printed ones.I really just want pic related and a few of the pointy-hat dudes.
>>97820513I think public perception isn't the right question here. Public perception is "huh whats that" or "Oh its like warhammer kinda". Same thing as asking "how do we fix Mork Bork's public perception".If we're talking wargaming as a whole? Unless you've been actively roped into the piss-and-vinegar of discourse (which most people aren't, posters are far outnumbered by passive observers) you probably see it as the new upstart with cool art and not a whole lot else right now... which is reasonably accurate.
>>97820513>TQ>"Hey dude wanna try and play Trench Crusade?">>"Isn't that the game where the devs hunt down and torture people who 3D print to death?">"Nah that was just a closeted slav making drama.">>"Ahh. Yeah sure man we can play this weekend."Thank me later Chuds and Chudettes. There’s literally nothing else to do. Most of the people who criticize the lore and portrayals of Christianity and Islam are nogames and wouldn’t try the game anyway. Notice how no one shit talks the gameplay?
>>97821296>Notice how no one shit talks the gameplay? That can also mean that nobody here is able to get games which is a common problem with anything that isn't one of the big shots like Warhammer and DnD etc. Also apparently Tabletop Simulator doesn't count so if nobody at the LGS wants to try TC then there's no way to dodge the dreaded nogames label.
>>97821376>apparently Tabletop Simulator doesn’t countThat was one troll and a random shit poster having a meltdown last thread, TTS is not as good as the real thing but it counts. If you can’t get anyone at the LGS or one of your friends to play then it’s an ok substituteIt will always be hard to get people to play tabletops, the hobby is smaller than you think if you ignore 40k and dnd players since they refuse to try anything else
>>97820513>TQBy just getting people to play the game as >>97821296 said, people shit-talk the lore, the religion and the developers but the gameplay is very fun. Also I really do not know how widespread the "TC is a woke scam" thing is, only a couple of guys at the LGS had an idea of what was going on in social media.I got some of my no-tabletop-wargames friends to play the game by just pitching the premise, the artwork, the campaign progression aspect of it and telling them you can play it in less than an afternoon. Then we had our first introductory game at the LGS and we've been playing since.
I play this game once a week and have really enjoyed playing as Heretic Trench Ghost, Heretic Naval Raiders, and Iron Sultanate (no subfaction).I often have Leo pointing/Cap on the Helicarrier moments of recognising references to scripture, liturgy, and history. Most of what I know about the game I learned by playing, but I have seen snippets of lore here and there. It is a fun way to spend an evening with friends and I am glad there's threads for it here!
>>97820456>TC needs to recognize this if it wants to grow as an IPThis mindset is the actual problem.TC was never designed to be anything more than a niche passion project made by a few guys for fun.It getting out to the unwashed masses unironically is the biggest problem. If it had stayed among people who actually played tabletop skirmish games, you would have questions like>How do we repair public perception of Trench Crusade?because the people involved would know what it is on about.Actual, real life faggots and mental fuckcases learning about the game is the biggest issue. They should not have interacted with the 'fanbase' at all. Just release the game, the art, the lore, do not elaborate.
>>97813785>Nahh, no regrets. My family is more fun than old 40k/DnD/PF ever were. Just wish I could do both.>You sound kinda bitter man, just put yourself out there. Everything worthwhile takes effortPure Foidslave Cope.
>>97821407>That was one troll and a random shit poster having a meltdown last thread>Everyone who calls me out for being retarded is the same perosnOk buddy. >>97821296TTS does not count, as everyone pointed out last thread, you should kill yourself.
>>97822265>everyoneLol
>>97821407He's still seething at being called out T_T
every alive game needs a schizo, glad we have ours already
>>97822207Hard disagree.I dont need to explain this, but you need a playerbase to play a game, not 5 people from different corners of the world saying "this game is cool" and then not playing it and going back to Warhammer because noone is even playing the game. You have lots of games that just come out and then the creator moves on, noone plays those games. This thread belongs on /awg/ with the rest of the games noone plays but simply acknowledge exists, yet dont play. I thought the thing that made TC stand out was that it was actually trying to do things that clawed out of that mire, now youre arguing that it should be there.
>>97822461>I dont need to explain thisI accept your concession.
>>97820513>How do we repair public perception of Trench Crusade?Like all good enduring wargames, we chase out the lefties
>>97824034BasedBasedBased
>>97821407
>>97820513>How do we repair public perception of Trench Crusade?Eliminate all ambiguities.Hell is evil, the Faithful are ultimately good but have to do a lot of questionable just to survive. Have no suggestion whatsoever that the Heretics "may have a point", thay are always worse than the rest of humanity by default.I think even people who play the Heretic side would appreciate this.
>>97825343>Have no suggestion whatsoever that the Heretics "may have a point"That's a thing? TC newb here, just bought the plastic box as an entry point
>>97825351Read the lore newfag. But to summarize>Heretic Legions (who are very specifically heretics, and not apostates or anything like that) actually have/had a specific motivation, ie "We demand equality with God".>This is part of a specific (and heretical, this is what the word means) reinterpretation of religious dogma where God is actually a Tyrant for XYZ reasons, meaning going against the faith's instructions and your god-given intuition on morality is now a good thing.>Hence, why the Heretics and the Faithful are both stable in logic, but cannot abide the other to exist as they're diametrically opposed to each others' very nature.>This causes seethe in some people who insist that God=unambiguous good, and Heretics must be an inane, random evil, and not a logical, considered one.
>>97825343I think the point of the ambiguity is that individual people on both sides are existing in system that makes them do terrible things to survive. It doesn't seem to come up in the discourse but aberhamic monotheism is absolutely not a utilitarian philosophy. the church routinely torture children in order to receive strategic prophecies, that is a sin. the people born into existence within the heretic side are also simply trying to survive. >tldr: its not that heretics are good, its that the faithfull are also committing evil.
>>97825351There are retards like the guy who replied to you both here and on Twitter/Reddit who unironically think the Heretics have a logical argument for serving the things that wish to torture all Creation for all eternity until existence itself unravels.
>>97825638This seems deranged.>>97825768I see your point anon
>>97825638Anon as a Heretic Legions player, you have to be so fucking vile that the literal gates of Hell find no goodness in you. If you're found to be less than a total uncomprimising irredeemable piece of subhuman shit, your soul burns before the hellgate for eternity. There is no gray with that. Hell are in fact the bad guys even if they have the barest argument that God's creation being imperfect means that he created suffering explicitly.
>>97825959In my mind the whole purpose behind playing Heretics is to play as the bad guys.
>>97826244Oh yeah being the bad guys is fun, especially when we get cool shit like the woof and witch, they're also just fun to play, drop your doods down, they cast gun or beat the shit out of a guy. No eking out every drop of performance you can, just doods in a trench
>>97824034This is unironically the answer but it's unfortunately impossible because the creators are already brainpozzed by the mind virus. Sad to see. I wanted to like this game but I can't support it.
>>97820513>How do we repair public perception of Trench Crusade?>weit ain't my fuckin job, I'm just gonna play it with buddies and paint my models. If the company wants to repair their image they're gonna have to grovel and kvetch and make reparations at least twice as good as the 'harm' they did/
>>97825343honestly I still think its bullshit heaven won't send out any basic bitch forces. Where's my cherubs and compassions and lower principalities? Hell is sending out lord of tumours and other low tier and mid tier demons. Like I get not sending out a Throne so hell won't have Beezelbub himself come out etc but doing nothing while Hell gets to act is bullshit
>>97828246Explicitly, hell is only sending out human crossbreed abominations, and that's what communicants and the paladins are as well. So it ends up a wash.
>>97828465I don't fuckin believe the Lord of Tumours or Artillery Witch are humans
>>97828491The witch is entirely artificial anon, it's even reflected in her rules sheet. And lorda of tumors are made by mass infection and death of people. So like mega grail zombies
Dumb question about New Antioch, should I bother taking the "God is with us" action on a trench cleric? Unmodified Risky action feels like shit since I want to get the blessing dice at the start of the activation or should I just try and do it at the end of everything?
>>97828465Also animal crossbreeds, anon.
>>97825343>Eliminate all ambiguities. There are none, save those trying to force them in with overwrought philosophical naval gazing.Nothing in the lore suggests anything resembling ambiguity; what you actually have is the hidden truth that the Faithful are all, in their own ways, contradicting Scripture, but it is presented as tragic necessity, not moral ambiguity.
>>97827487>>97824034>>97825127>examples of the actual problem that won't go awayUnironic that the people who are loudest about pushing their politics on to the game are not the 'crazy lefties' (unless all bad philosophy is leftist).
>>97828679I prefer doing it in the end and putting it on a Sniper Priest for the Aim ability. It's a neat little buff to a unit but unmodified risky is kinda dogshit to lead with
>>97821407Oh no lol
Even the Starcraft game, which is fucking unreleased, is outdoing us in thread activity. Tf happened to TC? It's died quicker than any game I've seen before.
>>97830782GL discussing SC2 fluff
>>97825638What's the lore behind big pope though?
>>97830782If you want to enjoy Trench Crusade, just pick up Tabletop Simulator! It's just like playing the game, but without any of the modelling or painting or interacting with people in person or supporting the company and it's actually super valid and you're a hecking schizo troll if you disagree :D
>>97831101Oh hey look it's anti-tts schizo kun,Please play some games anon they're fun
>>97831129Hecking schizo troll detected!
>>97830782>tell your fledgeling audience with no sunk cost to fuck off>they fuck offMany such cases
>>97831174It's clearly a winning strategy.
>>97831224Is it?
>>97831228Are you baiting or just retarded?
>>97831257Indulge me and explain this winning strategy
>>97831273It was sarcasm, you fucking inbred dipshit.
>>97830782For a long time the general was choke-full of trolls and people who had no interest in the game beyond shit-talking it and it made most people leave.Source: I was one of them, I didn't come back to the general until a few weeks ago
>>97831402And now there's nothing but TTS "players" haunting this place, grim.
>>97821296The game itself is just kind of mediocre. The blood dice are a nice enough mechanic, but the resolution mechanics around them are just so-so. Basic bitch alternating activation was also a poor choice when you're obligated to gun for maximum warband size as the campaign progresses. 40+ individual activations per round was just a slog in what should have been the most exciting games of the campaign.
>>97831699Its just mordheim with ranged focus. its fine. As another anon mentioned here, take this setting and slap Turnips rules on it and it would be something cool. I feel like for a WW1 game with crusades its sorely lacking in scale and simplicity to just pick up a game. Campaign games are horrible to get people to start let alone finish. The setting of TC is cool, I feel its actually the rules that will hinder it resonating more.
>>97831280OHHHHHHHHHH BIG MAN! BIG HARD MAN!!
>>97831699I quite like the rules, they are incredibly simple and easy to pick up. It is sad that they aren't anything special. I expect rules for larger armies and vehicles and such.
>>97831808>That seethe Lol
>>97821296what a weird cope post
So does anyone know of any other plastic kits that are currently in the pipeline? I would be happy to see Archon doing more work for TC.
>>97832294There's all the stuff stomping carcass front, so heretic naval raiders amd the leper pilgrims kits. I don't know how they're going to do their super units but we'll see
>>97822258OK, ignoring the legitimate love I have for my family you still lose. Meaning raising an infant/toddler/kid/teen is admittedly tough, but much more enjoyable than it is tough. That's why you exist retard-kunIn 50 years my kid(s?) will have kids of his/(her maybe) own and maybe even grandkids that I'll teach and nurture in this hobby. In 50 years you'll be dead or dying and your posts in a Tibetan knitting forum archive will be all you can contribute to the hobby.Ever heard the phrase 'the winners write history'? I'm winning, and you could be too, stop hating women and your ideas will spread to your children and then they can steer TC away from youtube sloppers that hate the game. Fuck it I'm gonna find time to greenstuff some IS this month, tax time be damned
>>97832536Damn it.I'm this anon, and that was way more aggressive that I want to be. I know how the chans work, I've been here for longer than you'd think. I just woke up one day and realized being happy meant more than 'winning' threads to me. So I pushed myself and lost a couple times til I won. To the poster thinking all women are trash, they really aren't. The single ones are in a mindset surprisingly similar to you, wanting to win an argument (thread) more than they want longterm happiness. Both of you are wrong, but if I can't persuade (you) of that I'll just slip into the background of tcg.It sucks half the posts here seem to hate the game or are trying to slide it, I just thought Franchina art was sick long before the game came around and wanted to support a game based on it. Wish we had IP counters back, that would fix so muchIf you like the game and want to reply to me, try and post cool iron sultanate art or a model that could be made out of with ork bits, I still want to build at least 1 cool custom model
>>97832636Anon, there's no reason to justify yourself for family.Anyone who doesn't believe in having a family is someone who's been mindraped.also this isn't a place to blog oldman.
>>97821296Not enough armor-piercing, total positive modifier death. I also don't fuck with Grail's durability mechanic. I think the game should just include templates instead of the weird blast/flamethrower rules, but that's less a critique and more of a personal opinion. They should maybe rework sultanate entirely too, they play like a lesser version of heretic legion.
>>97828867Played a game today, he failed it four turns in a row. I still won the game but man it felt like shit. I wish more actions were like the Sniper Priest's aim where they get bonus dice. I feel like it should be maybe +1 dice. +2 feels like a "why is this risky I will never fail" but +1 is "you probably should but there's still a chance it won't work."
>>97834028If your playing Sultanate like HL, you're doing it wrong. Heretics are about having a moderate number of well-equipped units who thrive on status effect and elemental negation. IS are about an asymmetric force of specialists with the cannon or the bull as an anchor for war band composition.

>TQ I like trench crusade and I still play it occasionally, but it should have been obvious to anyone experienced with 3d printing that mass production of resin prints was never going to work. If you're printing minis at home you can put the extra time and tlc into each mini to fix all of the flaws and properly clean and process the resin, but a big third party studio that's trying to ship thousands of these things all over the world is just never going to be able to do that. Switching to hard plastic for the official minis was the right move, even if it is very shitty that some of the stl's will no longer be (officially) available.Gameplay is fine. It isn't super deep, but it does a good job of building up hype moments when you blow a bunch of blood tokens at once to try and take someone out, and is simple enough that I can teach someone to play in about half an hour. We can fix "public perception" (dramafag whining) by releasing new armies and new minis, and actually playing the game.

Also see AltRight, political far-right ideology, political far-left ideology, political extremism, racism, autocracy, religious extremism, cult of personality, etc) feel like they belong, feel safer and more comfortable agreeing with others of the same ilk that something is bad or should be shunned/ridiculed, not from looking at the thing in question but because their compatriots have deemed the thing in question as despicable.>while contradicting a /pol/fag is bad evil wrongthink/pol/fags (see above) often view people outside of their circle or community defending, accepting or even enjoying the previously mentioned thing decreed to be despicable as a moral failing and thus the people who enjoy the despicable thing must be despicable degenerates of a lower social standing and intelligence that the circle of people who have decreed the thing to be bad. If a /pol/fag comes out and defends teh thing that has been decreed bad then he is seen as worse then the people who enjoy said thing, for he has abandoned the True Belief of the /polfag/ and has now become the enemy, even if he still agrees on all other points beside the thing in question. >>97853136There can be path of the beast warband that is like that. Crabs are the end goal of evolution after all.
>>97852148Overall the initial list is good enough, the first places to grow I think should be getting some alchemical ammo and the last elite, you really want to get exp on them asap. Maybe a siege jezzail as well, IS's main drawback is their lack of AP and you will notice this as the campaign drags on.Post pics of your games as well
>>97846876Thats just the thing though, people love cooming to warhammer so much, theyll take unsexy deigns and turn them sexy. Id say there's nothing particularly enticing about tau or the eldar, yet everywhere you look people are drawing cheesecake versions of them to coom to. If TC was anywhere as big as Warhammer, there would be so much gender bent cheesecake people wouldnt know what to do with it
>>97852148On your azebs I'd drop your clubs for alch ammo they're already going to miss in melee, but alch ammo makes them deadly at range. It makes them from a pretty bad unit to arguably the best generic dude up there in contention with legionnaires
I took my freshly painted IS to round 3 and got wrecked by Pilgrims. I didn't have a lot of money and my opponent had armor, sacrificial lambs, and martyrdom pills, meaning I only killed one prisioner. 6/9 of my models were knocked out but somehow nobody died and I managed to reroll into a Warband Strongbox so everything turned out alright in the end. I picked a Damascus Armor (probably for my bull) and a Knighthood for my captain but I'm having trouble coming up with a narrative. I lost the game, so it seemed like my captain doesn't "deserve" a reward. However, nobody died, and keeping all your men alive has to count for something, right?>>97852148Some purchases are suboptimal but it's not terrible. I would advise you to run some siege jezzails (and halberd guns once they're buffed), jannies get Strong for free so you shouldn't waste it. IS doesn't have great weapons but we're getting some changes this month, I think.

>>97821296The most important thing you forgot is making sure that the superiority complex assholism that non-Warhammer wargamers have is minimized. We're still missing an annointed, an arty witch, a commando, chorister, a castigator, a communicant a shrine and a couple nuns at least.I doubt they'll end up with a faction with more units than the other so they'll probably end up revealing the 3 last units as TPs, my bet is on 1 communicant and 2 nuns

>>97869598not sure about maxing on elites, they're good but in a campaign theres a solid chance you get objective based scenarios that really punish the player with the fewest activations
Are Heretic Legionaries with heavy weapons worth it? I did two intro games with a mate having played two games myself previously. He won both of them on objectives (the second one I was stupid and didn't grab a reliquary in the right order when it would otherwise have been my win), but my Iron Sultanate killed the shit out of his Heretics. >>97893625>>97892869It's this dude, Undead Keeper. I added the candle in blender
Started to make a modular trench network base plate. All the raised blocks are going to be modular, except the diagonal one which i accidentally fused to the base when i applied my homemade mod-podge/foam-stabiliser.
>>97893753
>>97893757
>>97893753>>97893757>>97893758My plan is to either hollow out 1-2mm and/or build up paths and walkways where each block sits on the base plate to make them slot in to place. The hexagon on the diagonal block is going to be turned into a observation post with a hollowed out center and a removable roof.
>>97893655Gonna paint my Naval Raiders like old times sailors with white and blue striped shirts. What I am waiting for is paratroopers with pilot jackets and helmets, with a special rule for certain units to be deployed mid game
>>97893753>>97893757>>97893758Thats what I hope to get done.
>>97893856> paratroopers with pilot jackets and helmets, with a special rule for certain units to be deployed mid gameI would so be down for WW1/dieselpunk paratroopers.
>>97894228New Antioch school of Aviation.Fire teams can be deployed after the first turn anywhere, as long as they are 8" inches away from an enemy unit."Seraphim" fighter class airplane 200 ducats, may purchase cases of rounds for 50 ducats or up to two bombs for 100 ducats each.In order to use the plane a radio operator needs to be in line of sight of an enemy and use the "Call for Close Support" risky action. If the operator is dead the plane will return to base.Thoughts?
>>97893724>Big-Daddy style Machine Armour, even if just an option for the Anointed, is a shame considering they've already done art for thatYeah a shame but the priest is still cool
Don't forget to roll off to decide which player places the terrain, sweeties ~•°

Just discovered this and I'm a big fan of the setting. All the info I get seems surface level shallow though. Is lore/story developments just not much there because it's all new? How's the game's development going?>How do we repair public perception of Trench Crusade?I don't get this question. What damage has been done?
>>97895780>What damage has been done? Most of it has been done by trolls which has led to a kind of mindset where any criticism is seen as something a troll would say. The mentality was most visible when the first plastic set's price was revealed. But the real elephant in the room is contrarianism. This manifests in pretty much any fanbase that gathers around a tabletop game that isn't the Warhammers where everyone then believes themselves to be superior through liking something that isn't Warhammer. The truth is zealously and blindly supporting tabletop games for not being one of the warhammers isn't a sign of superiority but a different flavour of paypiggery. There isn't really a way for me to properly condense the 'real life lore of trench crusade' without writing a novel. Maybe there's a summary of it all somewhere but I wouldn't know.
>>97895780You can find pretty much all the lore on the official website. I recommend reading through, you can make warbands using https://trench-companion.comtldr the game blows up more than expected, the creators weren't expecting it and weren't prepared for it, they fuck up a lot, they go back on promises for STL's and such. Most of it was blown out of proportion by youtubers and trolls, it's not as bad as it sounds
>>97893856Just make some stuff up with your players.I'd recommend bolt action airborne troopers for a base then add more gubbins and iconography. Though i don't know where you're going to find a bunch of guys with bomber jackets>>97895780>Tripfag in a general he's never been in before>trying to bait repliesBegone newfag unless you have a damned fine reason for being a tripfag here
>>97895858>Asking a question is baiting repliesYou can also just have a conversation. >>97895818>>97895857Thanks for the explanation, guys. Schizos will be on any big game, I guess. I'm at least glad that the game has blown up. I'll be doing some reading, for sure. Surely this repair will occur naturally as quality content gets released (if it does).
>>97895857Ah the old Kickstarter downfall route. Know it well. Company Kickstarter blows up out of all proportion and they can't possibly fulfil all the orders correctly or in a timely manner, all the goodwill they generated at the start turns sour and the company is bought up by one of the two or threee predatory businesses in the industry right now.Saw it happen to the Dropfleet Guys, and now it's a fucking travesty of it's former glory, and looking at a THIRD edition this august. Similar stuff happened with Spartan Games... but that wasn't a kickstarter so much as their inability to control their Attention Deficit Disorder when they had a comparatively expensive license to support with Halo.As a side note: MANTIC GAMES! BRING BACK HALO FLEET BATTLES, KEEPING THE MODULAR BASES, AND MY SOUL IS YOURS!
Does anyone know if the models from mindworks (eu) are good quality?Honestly I was thinking to wait until they make the models available in plastic, before i jump in. But i really prefer the og lineup compared to the prussian shit and the upcoming box.I had a look at the rules and a couple of battle reports and I have to way, that this game does look like it would be great fun
>>97897354What don't you like about the prussian sculpts? Or is it the machine armor design being gone?
If I get a mercenary promoted to elite, can I buy them wargear? I don't see any rules forbidding it
Trench Companion guy here, we've set a system up so that when the April Rules Preview comes out, both versions can be supported at once.
>>97902466It might say in their battlekit section they can't be bought new stuff. If not, and everyone else in the campaign is fine with it, go nuts.
>>97897231Wasn't even a 'company', it was like 2 or 3 guys who have long been in the business doing some shit for a lark on their own time.I don't see it getting 'bought' because it began as a passion project for the devs, not a money generator. It blew up because people liked the boutique, genuine atmosphere and the modeling opportunity.
I'd be interested in hearing some world building ideas from you. What do you think is going on in France that sets it apart from the rest of the faithful like Prussia or the Papal States?>Since the front is at New Antioch, the Maginot Line doesn't exist and so for France to mirror it's WW1 role it should be sending the bulwark of soldiers to New Antioch. >Due to story events, the reformation never happened and it seems that the revolution never happened. Napoleon either didn't happen or didn't happen as intended. So what we are dealing with is a natural continuation of 'Eldest Daughter of the Church's medieval france>An extremely devout France could lead to holy warrior and warrior saint imagery but also purity spiraling: the Trench Crusade map has Avignon show witch burnings>Joan of Arc is a major French figure, supposedly leading the faithful armies in the Corpse Wars, so in that same spirit France could have a Cult of St. Joan commanding battles via visions>Imagery to call upon would be WW1 trenchers, napoleonic pageantry, and medieval knightsHow do you feel France would be
>>97903103France has a direct incursion already, via a TC version of the pig fucking Anti-Pope.
>>97821296lmao the sheer cope
>>97903121I hadn't heard anything. What's this about
>>97837998>/TC/general is just innundated with /pol/acks, conservicucks who hate anything someone once labelled as woke, bots, and dramafags who got kicked from the discord for bitching about GW.Bro touch grass. You write like you've been terminally online for months.
>>97902701God bless you anon>>97903103France is currently fucked because they are still dealing with Avignon, which mirrors the Avignon Papacy irl. tldr the Papacy moved its seat from Rome to Avignon during the 14th century, during this time they fell under heavy French influence, a lot of people criticised the Pope for being corrupt. At one point there were multiple Popes in Avignon fighting for powerMy headcanon is this is where the Lust sub faction of the court will be based, once it releases
>>97903134https://www.trenchcrusade.com/lore/missionaries-of-the-black-grail/
>>97903945Thanks m8Hopefully there becomes more of France besides "after Jeanne d'Arc hundreds of years ago the threat came back with an Avignon Papacy spin.
>>97904183I'd love to see the Cathars and the Siege of Montsegur as heretic infiltrators sowing dissent and pitting faithful factions against each other.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Monts%C3%A9gur#Cathar_castlehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Monts%C3%A9gurhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catharism
>>97902890When you put it like that, it's amazing anyone got anything at all.
>>97831744>Its just mordheim with ranged focus.Pretty much...
>>97905404Eh, Tuomas Pirinen wanted to make Mordheim again so he did. Heaven forbid a man have hobbies. I like it well enough, and if you know what you're doing on Etsy it's not that expensive to get into comparatively speaking.
>>97902746I read this as "this is what they start with" like as a minimum and you can buy them miscellaneous gear but maybe not
>>97904489It's why I offer a bit of grace. These are the actual working guys behind the games, not the bean counters that make the numbers go.If they were an actual corp, I'd have more expected them to do the thing you said, and sold out for a fat check once they realized there was broader interest.>>97906526I, personally, would allow them to get new kit, but not exchange their standard kit for upgrades.Keep what you got, add to it.
>>97821145Well, the rulebook the backers got was already outdated by the time they were delivered, so I'd say so lmao.
>>97906526So unless a model says that they can buy from a table they cannot, so mercenaries can't buy anything new but they do get level ups and the perks those come with when they promote. Your table can easily house rule it to be anything off their faction armory table or whatever though and that's fluffy and fun too.
>>97905529It's been funny honestly, at adepticon I did get a couple questions about it as the "c guy." I explained alot of the misconceptions and just had people play games and people really liked it when they weren't getting told it's the devil
>>97904255That's kind of similar to what I have my mammon legion fluffed as (though more deep inflators in europe), the forgotten third and fourth sons of nobility and merchants upset at their lack of fortune from their father's and accordingly submit to greed itself to fill voidWhat are you all fluffing your guys with? Give me backstory if you have it>>97904489Honestly it kind of is, as shitty as it sounds. Part of why I was skeptical of this at first was because it was initially just a couple pie in the sky artists making a cool game/art project.
>>97914834>What are you all fluffing your guys with? Give me backstory if you have itI have several warbands so i'm just gonna give a short TL;DR for each>Heretic LegionThe 3rd Emeritus Fleet raiding detachment "Papa's Ghouls". Based out of the heretic naval base at Gibraltar. Currently engaged in deep sabotage raiding in southern Toulouse, supporting a breakout offensive by the heretic pope of Avignon.>Trench PilgrimsThe Nuns of Gavaronne. A break-away all-female sect of the Procession of the Sacred Affliction that have incorporates Adamite learning into their faith. Seen as dangerously close to heretical by some of the more strict synods but their results on the battlefield speak for themselves. >New Antioch19th Norrbothnia Expeditionary Force. Survivors of brutal trench warfare against the hellspawn and heretics in the hills of Vitkova during the second Great Incursion at Petsamo in the frozen north, now rebuilt and reconstituted as a expeditionary force to the Levant as a way for the great northern powers to show New Antioch that the High North are still fighting the good fight. >Court of the Seven-headed SerpentLilith's Devoted. Hellspawn and halfbreeds that worship Lilith, the first wife of Adam and the primordial she-demon. The demonic forces style themselves as otherworldly beautiful beings in a world of mud, blood and ash, both as a way of praising the Mother of Monsters and as a mockery of mortal vanity.

There will be a community magazine, Trench Wire. Not against it, but some stuff TC does seems to be, because industry vets want to have a nostalgia trip.
>>97918271The whole project is essentially a big nostalgia trip for Tuomas anyway. So you might as well shrug your shoulders and have a wallow.
>>97918271Could be good if it gains traction. I could see it becoming like the old White Dwarf mags
>>97918271This seems fun and a way to connect people. I can't imagine how it could be a bad thing, it just makes a way to distribute news and the coolest stuff people are making for the game. All in all pretty cool to me. Especially if they use that old newspaper aesthetic.
>>97918271Where to sign up?
>>97919224Don't think there's a sign up, it's on their sitehttps://www.trenchcrusade.com/trench-wire/
>>97919242>Lyle LoweryIsn't he the homie behind White Dwarf?
>>97919294Indeed. He is the bloke behind White Dwarf and On Guard
>>97919308>On GuardExcuse my ignorance, but what's that?
>>97919308>>97919311I misremembered. It wasn't named On Guard, it was called No Quarter. It was the Privateer Press version of White Dwarf.
>>97919331Oh I see, that's awesome, guy gets about. Glad to see him attached to this project in some way, I remember liking his stuff. Cheers for the info anon
>>97919342Yeah it seems like Toumas is pulling out all the stops when it comes to getting the old band back together.

How much can I sell my Kickstarter TC book for in Canadian dummy money?I'm just not feeling it anymore with TC.>One Ebay result is almost 300 Canadian bucks.
>>97923332Go ask somewhere else.
>>97923507Why? Seems like this place is a nice one to gauge how much the Kickstarter TC book would be worth to an actual TC fan.
>>97923332They sell for £90 to £150 in bongland. Extrapolate for that and moderate based on interest in your area
>>97923746I just checked the price and went back to the ebay listing. It is two copies and some warband stuff. So your estimate seems reasonable. Thanks!

>>97926626>cheese killerYes haha yesssss
I heard someone say that they’re making an update that turns it into more of an RPG if not a full RPG altogether. Is this true?Because I really like the setting but can’t get into war games unfortunately, so an RPG would be really nice.
>>97926843Well I don't know how true the statement itself is though it wouldn't surprose me if Tuomas were in discussion with an old friend to make RPG rules. How've, the game itself actually plays out more like an RPG than a traditional wargame by a significant amount. Where your guys will level up between each fight, and you'll only have a few guys (usually less than a dozen) "on set"at any given time. Not quite a traditional RPG, but more akin to a team management game than strictly a wargame.
>>97926843Trench Crusade is close to Necromunda/Mordheim (or XCOM if you are a /v/idya dude) than Warhammer 40K in scale.
>>97926626Being able to target points on the ground is always going to be exploitable. Although all of the other upcoming stuff looks to be buffs.>Iron Sultanate Alchemist subfaction is getting their homonculi buffed>Buffs in general for Iron SultantePossibly the option of giving the bull +1d to shooting?>Buffs to Mercenaries, probably Glory point costs reductions in the main.>Infiltrators having something to do when you have a scenario that doesn't allow them, considering that most pay 10 ducats for the skill.
