How is it that literally every new TCG out there comes out and refuses to learn any of the design guidelines the big three spent literal decades devising?

The basic mechanics have the same core as every other TCG out there, the card design is bland, the IP has its fans but it's not something the large public is particularly crazy about, this is absolutely investorfags FOMOing and it won't last more than two sets

I think it gets lost in the development process where someone pushes having a unique visual look that is is "instantly recognizable" and unique. Which is dumb. Almost every time I've seen different designs like that, it's a pain to learn how to read and that ends up keeping people away

TCGs have become infested with scalpers. A lot of new TCGs in the past couple of years have a had an initial wave of scalpers scooping up everything to flip online, commonly to other scalpers, and it just makes most of them unplayable for the first couple of months.

Yeah, that unfortunately sounds about right. There's a place near my house that does regular one piece TCG events and it's usually pretty empty, but whenever they release some new set or some exclusive card, there's a line-up out the door and down the street. All of them scalpers.
