Wait so hold on. The booby traps you set here don't actually... do anything. They don't explode. They don't even slow down the opponent. Not even the lazy route of making it dangerous terrain. They just do literally nothing on their own. All they do is give you bonus VP for killing guys standing near them. So the traps themselves add ZERO fucking lethality or even "disruption" which is the whole point.

GW is trying to pull a fast one on us pretending to make more narrative mission rules while putting out dogshit like this that is literally functionally IDENTICAL to "raising banners", just pointless action monkey shit that doesn't have any real narrative mechanic to it, reskinned over and over. It's obvious they didn't even playtest this, or someone would have asked during a game "uh, so, what do the traps actually DO", they just shit this out probably with ChatGPT and slapped it on some cardboard and expect us to shell out to buy the mission deck like good goyim.

I'm so fucking sick of it, man. 11th edition already looks like a flop between this and the extremely boring models they're showing off. I know it won't actually be a flop because people keep paying but like, why. At what point do we just collectively decide to play a better older edition and 3D print all the models?

I'm pretty sure the traps and whatnot aren't there for the small force you're currently fighting against, but for the rest of the war effort, which is why completing the trap field wins you the game. You've achieved your tactical objective and it will (should) impact the rest of the campaign.

I remember the last time we played at our LGS, we set up the terrain to represent a city area with a square at one end, numerous streets, alleys, etc. The nuhammer players next to us genuinely seemed unable to comprehend our setup or how our troops where able to be out of cover and not die.

All psychic abilities were just turned into guns with the PSYCHIC tag (this does absolutely nothing on its own) or aura abilities that are always active. No more psychic tests, no more perils of the warp, no more deny the witch, no more choosing which powers each of your psykers take, nothing.

Wargear is all free and tons of options were just deleted so you just always take the strongest of whatever is available which isn't much.

Yes it is exactly as fucking cancerous as it sounds.
