It never fired. I fact, those cannonballs are slightly too large and wouldn't fit in.

It was fired once to proof it. Used a stone ball, though, it was never designed to fire metal.
Mallet's mortar fired a larger ball, though that was a thin hollow shell full of black powder. It also never saw actual combat use.
