Man, Elder Evils all sound impossible to defeat.
>>97862912Yeah, that's kind of the point.
>>97862995I love it. I wish I knew about the Elder Evils earlier, the campaigns are really fun to sstudy.
>>97862912Yeah?Thats why you never fight them directly
>>97862912You can't even beat a bunch of rich guys, what hope do you have against something worse?
>>97864046Whatchu talking about, I could totally beat Epstein at rock paper scissor.
they didn't get old by being pushovers
>>97864046i'm positive Epstein and i were in the same robowaifu rolling thread on /pol/ one time and i got a better result than he did
>>97862995I thought the point was to have an epic final boss to defeat, not to actually prevent it from spawning.
>>97862912Each Elder Evil has a mini-adventure in the book showing exactly how to defeat it.
>>97864251Yeah, but like, they're all so tough, for someone like my who never passed level 4, they feel impossible to beat. How are you meant to roll so high?
>>97864244Yeah. Elder Evils was pretty much the equivalent of 2e's Apocalypse Stone, Die Vecna Die! and 5e's Vecna: Eve of Ruin. Adventures to end a campaign on in preparation for the release of the next edition.
>>97864254>they feel impossible to beat. How are you meant to roll so high?Be a mid-level, optimized full spellcaster in D&D 3.5.
>>97864264>optimizedSo what, are they like the Tarrasque, tests for your minmaxing build?
They are one of the few things I actually like about the DnD setting. Most of the other shit I find boring but I like Pandorym and stuff like that.
>>97866601For me, it's Atropus. The idea of a giant cosmic abomination that comes closer and closer is just fun for a campaign. Even if I think that the stress of describing how that black spot in the night sky grows bigger and bigger would be too much for a fun campaign.
>>97866601Ragnorra's the one I've seen get the most mileage at my table. Cancer is fun, kids!
>>97862912just contract a bigger evil to deal with it.
