Is anyone playing Warhammer Renaissance? Compared to TOW it seems more in the spirit of oldhammer.
>>97868817I’ve never even heard of that. Is that some 9th age offshoot?
>>97868776i dont know where its from or who did it but i really like this one
>>97868817It’s a fan created 4-5-6th edition amalgamated ruleset trying to capture warhammer fantasy in the 90’s but without some of the issues. Crown of Command has some good video battle reports of it.
>>97868817I've played a bit of it. It's well written, feels balanced and the army lists are incredibly versatile, sad that there's not much of a community anywhere.I absolutely love what they did with undead:>Classic UndeadThe good ole 4th edition undead army with mummies, wraiths, ranged skeletons and the like.>Vampire countsRules for different bloodlines and special things for each of them like Sylvanian militia for Von Carstein and the ability to take Empire or Bret heroes as Lahmian Swains.>Tomb Kings, haven't looked much into them, but they seem to be there in their 5th edition gloryThen there's like a dozen ways of building chaos armies>Pure warriors>Pure Beastmen>Pure Daemons>Chaos soup>Warriors + Beastmen>Warriors + Daemons>Beastmen + DaemonsAll of them in Monogod, multigod and unified flavours, with different advantages and disadvantages depending on your specific choice.Honestly, after following Renaissance's development for a while, TOW feels a lot more restrictive and less interesting in flavour
>>97868817>Rules locked behind a private facebook group.lmaoAlso cant be bothered to learn a new ruleset just to play it with nobody. It's more convenient to comp TOW rules to your liking.
>>97868973>feels balanced and the army lists are incredibly versatile,That's every game before the competive scene has managed to "solve" the game. Put some nerds to crunch the numbers and you'll get fat geeks in tight sports wear boasting about their tournament victories while complaining about the loss of "flavor" in no time.
>>97868977>FB groupYeah, the author is a bit of a boomer, though sharing the rules around is encouraged, you can find them around.>Can't be bothered to learn new rulesUnderstandable, this is more for people who want something that feels more classic without the withering touch of GWs rules team.>>97868986The whole thing is so much of a grog project that I doubt enough of a competitive scene will arise from it, and I'm glad about that. It's meant for fun with the lads, nothing else.
Finally done with these Bestigors of mine. Took a bit longer than I wanted, but they turned out pretty good. What’s the last model or group of models you’ve finished recently?
>>97869014Here they are alongside the big bad beastlord himself, pretty pleased how this looks.
>>97868973Damn this seems right up my alley, I wish people at my LGS played unsupported/unofficial games :(
>>97869002>It's meant for fun with the lads, nothing else.Isn't that the point of every wargame? You don't have to play TOW (Or even 40K) competively. My group plays very casually and people bring pretty chubby lists. It's a very big ask to have people learn yet another massive ruleset just to play the game they are more or less already playing.
>order Sisters of Battle transfer sheet from ebay because it's apparently the only transfer sheet anyone has made in the last 30 years with a single-color red rose of Lancaster on it>only the vehicle markings are big enough for use on men-at-arms shields and there are only 2 per transfer sheetI guess all the lads get a little rose in the top corner of the shield. Maybe the lord is too haughty to share his full coat of arms with peasants. I could throw on a fleur-de-lys as well to balance it...
>>97868854I think it's done by Karmavoid for an australian shirt company called electric witch, doesnt look like they have it anymore.
Beastbros, should I rebase my beastmen to ToW after rebasing them for aos ten years ago or should I just play a different army?
>>97869108just use adapters and play a few games, you'll figure it out.
>>97869108>should I rebase my beastmen to ToWYes, snap those off or get adapters.
>>97869108Since GW isn't supporting TOW anymore, I wouldn't be so hasty.
>>97869108I would sell it now since they’re a waac fag army before they get their support dropped in a potential 2nd edition.
>>97869108If you really like Beastmen and their vibes then I would say you either rebase or use adepters. They are a fun army to play, and that’s from someone who isn’t playing them competitively at all, I play them for the vibes and fun
>>97869257Which bluesky account do you find these on?
does anyone wanna have sleepover party this weekend. we can eat cereal and use the package + popsicle sticks to scratch build some terrain and play a game or two.
>>97869014Been a bit but my Big uns and Orc Command set. Strangely, they have out performed my Khorne warriors consistentky but perhaps that is solely down to me painting and making them myself.
Any fix for bent plastic? Boiling water isn't cutting it.
>>97869877Try not being a pussy with the boiled water and actually submerging it
>>97869990I'm telling you it's not working.
>>97869994Post a pic of the bent piece
>>97869997I'm too lazy for that. It's a spearhead.
>>97870000I'm absolutely bewildered why you would post here asking for help and then refuse such a basic request. Did you just want to bitch and moan? Boil some water and put the bent part in it for more than 2 fucking seconds and it should easily bend into place after, I don't know what else to tell you man.
>>97869877First 3 out of 8 dragon ogres I bought have arrived.I have too many models.
>>97869877bend it the other way
>>97870020Now that would work with resin but I tried submerging way longer and plastic is way too stubborn. Also I just don't like taking pictures and it's too much effort for no reason. Simple.
>>97868817Warhammer Renaissance is very good. The hardest part is finding players willing to step outside the latest edition plantation, but if you can find those players you will have fun no matter what you choose. You should seriously consider looking into 3rd edition though, it's peak. At least give it a read The thing about wargaming is that the people you play with is so much more important than the rules you are playing with. Playing 100 games of TOW with the LGS freaks is worth very little compared to playing even a single game with a small passionate group who care, and are willing to indulge in epic campaigns, scenarios, narrative battles, etc. I am very lucky that I grew up with a dad and brothers who are into wargaming.
>>97870037Where do you find people to play these obscure editions with? It's hard enough as it is to get players for the mainline games.
>>97870055Well that is the question, isn't it? You might as well be asking "how do I find good friends?"
>>97869077Anon, do I have the website for you!https://www.forgottenchapters.eu/product/red-roses-of-lancaster/These should be of the right size for your Men at Arms' shields. And they're pretty well priced, too.
