Yes, I have in real life, when I did historical re-enactment, spent an afternoon dozing in a full milenese harness. It can be quite comfortable if your harness has a good fit. Straps tend to dig in over time though and it's best to do in the shade - bare plate heats up like a car bonnet in sunlight, cooking you like a lobster in a pan.

Best to check what you game rules and DM say though, as they may differ from reality.

Yes.
You can sleep in any clothing/armor if you are tired enough or used to wearing it.

Making your players equip and unequip each time they sleep in dangerous areas is pointless bullshit.
