Hello there! In this great surge of independent developers making their own systems since 2024, we'd like to throw in our own two proverbial cents into the mix. Harmonyc Khaos is a d20 narrative-driven roleplaying game that takes place in the world of Mane, the All-Mother who watches over all after her children, the Primordials, who each had their own planes of existence held by their mother's six hands until they decided to declare war on eachother to expand their own domains, and, as punishment, Mane clasped her hands as she weeped, and with that she forced all the different planes together, creating Harmonia Chaos.>"wtf is this go buy an ad"This is the general for our system and whoever would be interested in joining in discussion regarding its lore and game mechanics. Feel free to ask anything regarding the system. Ignore it if you don't think its to your liking.>Why are you posting this on 4chinBecause we fucking hate Reddit, we are willing to go low but not thaaat low.Question of the day: What do you like about d20 systems?
>>97870210>Can describe the game>Apparently a developer>No link to anythingAll I fucking know from this damn post is some setting lore and a vague concept that this might be something like D&D due to its choice of die. I know nothing of what player characters are, what the system is supposed to allow player characters to do, what the stakes are now the immediate backstory of the setting is resolved, or who any major players are other than the creator deity.Give the board something to actually sink its fucking teeth into and you might see some discussion.
Never heard of it, not sure I want to ether. What reason would anyone play this over the dozens of other d20 systems that are far less obscure and have far more material to play with?
>>97870210Firstly, I appreciate you not pretending to be a regular player who, "found" the game you made, and just being upfront that this is basically an ad.Still, you didn't actually say much about the game beyond "D20", "narrative-driven", and some vague metaphysics bullshit. It's not much to go on. Tell us some shit about your game, like what the hell "narrative driven" means here, or the expected tone and mode of play, or something.
>>97870210I like to use the D20, but my games are driven by random results from tables and the decisions I make for my player characters, not by some "nArRaTiVe".
>>97870231Completely valid criticism. And the next time we post we will post the actual SRD. Its not here yet because we are still porting everything from Google Docs to GitHub. We were also not sure if straight up posting the rule book would be well received or not.As a peace offering, have some art of the project.>>97870267As for actual game mechanics, here's a list of actual features:- Player has 2 Action tokens per turn, each token can be split into half Actions for object interactions and other like-so actions- AC is split into damage reduction from armor and evasion from the Agility stat- Called shots that decrease accuracy for bonus effects- Weapon arts tied to each type of weapon- Spells that have versatility on how they are cast if the caster meets certain conditions; per example, if one spends an additional half Action to cast a Firebolt then it sets ablaze whatever it hits.- Reworked Job Class system that unlocks new classes and features within its own classes that are unlocked by accomplishing tasks/quests- Diverse ancestries, some of which can be augmented up on level up instead of your Job Class, allowing one to play more of a monster character than a classic PC.And to whoever else is mentioning that "narrative-driven" is bad nomenclature. I agree, my apologies.
>>97870321Ah, so a heartbreaker, through and through.-Not sure how I feel about Action tokens, or how useful breaking up an action would be in a lot of circumstances; depends heavily on what exactly a half action can get ya.-DR from armor is a classic change-Called shots getting bonus effects works entirely depending on how good those effects are; could be OP, could be worthless, the median point is a pain to find-Weapon arts could be interesting, assuming you mean some special techniques tied to the weapon; but this also depends on the nature of techniques and how restrictive the same weapon is to use the same weapon art-Spells (which I am currently assuming are Vancian as this is clearly D&D based and you have given me no reason to assume otherwise) seem fairly standard as a big package of access to microrulesets within the bigger system-Task based unlocks for character progression seem like a questionable design decision in a TTRPG. Assuming you mean something like a video game achievement system rather than classic free-form 'GM decides', as some GMs get hard stuck on some absurd interpretation of these things-Racial class levels, ok
>>97870210>general>for a nonexistent systemPost PDF. Hell, a "quickstart" demo version with a self-contained mini-module and some flavor for the setting would be a start.
>>97870363Don't think we can call it a heartbreaker yet because our objective is not making a product, its making a system that others who like the same kinds of games as we do play. There will never be a Kickstarter for any HK projects.Everything is paid out of pocket by the people who love it and have been in the project since 2018.>Spells (which I am currently assuming are Vancian as this is clearly D&D based and you have given me no reason to assume otherwise) It uses a Mana point system. :)>Weapon arts could be interesting, assuming you mean some special techniques tied to the weapon;Correct, an example being 'Pierce', the skill for the dagger that allows one to spend 1 Mana to ignore damage reduction from an enemy's armor. It should also be mentioned that everyone gets Mana points, even melee combatants, some classes just get more than others.
>>97870421I won't defend myself, I was definitely putting the cart before the ox by making the thread before we finished porting everything from Google Docs.We were aiming to gauge reactions first. The next time we show up it will be something palpable.
>>97870210What a worthless, banal post. Either link to the PDF to your game or fuck off
>>97870321Bland uninspired art that conveys absolutely nothing about the setting except for the creators home milquetoast proclivities
>>97871804Thanks for the (You) :)
Wait wait wait. You are posting a general...*checks notes*For a game that isn't even available...and that no one in the whole world has actually played. Are you fucking kidding me?
>>97872395Yeah I'm sure you really needed it. This game will be dead and unheard of and you will kill yourself, guaranteed
>>97875558Thanks for the (You) :D
