TQ: yeah jungles are basically timeless You can put anything on a brown sand tableWhich is why I'm doing mine oxide martian red because I'm an idiot.
>>97881032>TQForests, hills, rocks. Craters for sci-fi/modern conflicts.
>TQGrass and forests.
Why is every kunt doing shit like this now and making a zine rulebook of it
>>97881566Why not?I have a friend who played that for the first time over the weekend at an event, says it is really good, pretty tight and quick.
>>97881213>not using magic craters for fantasy
>>97881566Be the change you want to see in the world.
>>97881930The mage wars were truly a violent time and the land still bears the scars.
What are you working on /awg/? I recently bought some Ghar battlesuits and desolation drones and I'm working on making their lower bodies from tentacles. After my failures with green stuff, I started using aluminium cables instead, as they're easy to shape with tweezers and won't snap easily.
>>97882127>gharBasedYou didn't use support wires before?
>>97882174No, in general I really dislike working with green stuff, so I end up sourcing different materials like masking tape or aluminium cables.
>>97881566gets a lot of engagement on social media
>>97881032>TQRuined urban environments work best for my various awg endeavors.
>>97881566Have you ever tried any of these indy games? Some are really good.
>>97881032Classic monpoc was where it was at. Being able to play limited was fun, the factions were all distinct and had lots of character, there were more abilities all around and the monster hyper forms were something you could control more consistently. Availability of the blind boxed game was never an issue like it was with Version 2 resin blisters.
>>97882696No argument that the new sculpts were really nice, but that can happen when you change scale and materials. Being better for the hobbyist was great but ultimately made the game a lot less accessible and widely available.
My first Gaslands cars, finished today.
>>97883659Lookin good. Be honest, how big is your stash of hot wheels?
>>97884088I had to buy these two matchbox cars especially for this and I need to buy more to keep going. If I had more I'd be working on another right now, went and got STL's for a 1:64 semi truck and trailer to print so I can do up a war rig too.
>>97882696>>97882714You can get the files to print the whole faction for the cost of what they tried to sell a v2 model for. They're trying to make good on the fuck up that was Mythic.
>>97884107I have sooo many matchbox now, and am finishing cars for the last 3 teams I don't have painted. I bought a knock-off of a DCP semi truck that's a good (metal) basis for the Rusty's Bootlegger semi I am doing.
>>97884151>teams>bootleggerI dont know the rules even, just a fun palette cleanser project.
>>97884156I got into it because I hadn't painted in 20 years, and wanted to get into a mini game I wouldn't HAVE to spend a fortune on. Plus it's an easy game to introduce newbies into, and you can play with 6-8 people and it still doesn't take all night.
In fact I am driving an hour and a half Sunday to Gasland with some old friends again. I HAVE spent quite a bit on printed terrain and some nicer Greenlight die cast.
>>97884182Luckily with having both kinds of printer i can do terrain and other stuff super cheap too, should i decide to take it beyond display pieces.
>>97884201I just don't have the space/ventilation for printing atm. My big painting/hobby studio is nearby at my best friend's house.
>>97883659>>97884182I got hit with the sudden urge to make some Gaslands stuff to play with my dad when I visit him. I made a replica of his IRL Mad Max car out of a Hot Wheel and he'd be stoked to play games with it.I really want to make a board. What size would be good for most games? Could I get away with 2x2 if I have some verticality to it, or should I go larger?
>>97884209Ventilation is a fearmongering meme, you get more VOC's from glade plugins or frying food in a pan with oil.
Anyone know some good 50s/60s raygun sci-fi terrain in 10mm? I do not have a printer.
>>97884271I run my resin printer in a weed grow tent piped to a window. It's night and day. I'd also recommend getting one of the low odor resins.
>>978842592x2 is too small for a race. Verticality would be tricky to pull off because of the template movement. You really dont need that much for a gaslands board, an infinity shaped roadway and some scatter terrain is plenty.
>>97884472Alright. I just remembered that I have a double sided terrain mat that is wasteland on one side and ruined streets on the other, which is perfect.Does the game work well for races where each player controls one vehicle? I'm wondering if it would make a decent board game experience for the wife and relatives.
Can you use oathmark rules to represent primitive firearms and artillery?
>>97884780Sure, if you make and point cost your own firearms rules; it's not exactly rocket science.Reloading should maybe take a turn standing stationary, I'd give them the effect of +1 damage, and -1 to the activation stat of units fired upon by a full rank or more for their next activation roll, to represent the panic of a fusilade.I'd cost them more than an archer, but less than a LinebreakerThere you go, off the top of my head.Artillery already exists in system in the form of ballistae and catapults; I'll leave modifying the rules as I did for muskets above down to you, but as I demonstrate; it is easy to do.
>>97881032>What terrain setups have the most broad utility for different awgs you play?Desert ruins. Adobe and mud-brick with the odd shack/tent/statues to anchor a time period can carry me from the 10th century BC to the 40th AD. Especially since I like pulp. Sandstone rock formations are easy to make out of pretty much anything you can slap Spackle onto, dunes and oases are timeless, palm trees and lichen for underbrush are cheap online, and two sheets of foamcore with some skewers will land you all the buildings you need. 1920s-30s houses and beat-up brick buildings are also easy to shove into most tables. So are dirt hiking trails.
>>97885220Thanks. House-rules are pretty easy to do, getting people to play them is the hard part.
I dream of a large building with multiple levels and a grand open hall for OPR (fantasy and sci-fi) as well as maybe Kill Team. Do yall think it’d be better to make it as a modular piece of terrain, or as the entire board, maybe even with the roof implied like in ttrpg dungeon tile set ups? I’m still very much in the concept phase of this and actual construction is a long ways out
>>97885850>OPRShiggy Diggy
>>97885850As modular as you can make it will give you more use out of it. Should be able to use the interior parts as urban parts or maybe interior spaceship sections. Easier to take apart and store too.
>>97883659I gotta get around to making some gaslands vehicles sometime. I don't know anyone near me that actually plays the game but just making some flash looking madmax vehicles would be a fun project.
>>97886093Exactly.And it doesn't hurt to have something ready for those low model count popular-adjacent games like battletech, blood bowl, necromunda, epic, bfg, etc...When you play niche games you get more fun if you're ready to play someone else's niche game.
>>97886060Excellent. Thank you!
Any SLUDGE players ITT? I like the relatively grounded fantasy+gunpowder setting, and the grimderp part I can just tone down. How's the gameplay in general?
>>97886393>SLUDGEFirst time hearing of it, looks cool
>>97881032>What terrain setups have the most broad utility for different awgs you play?I nearly bought an N scale Dairy Queen last week, i would have shoehorned that little shit into everything if I'd gone through with it.>>97884631Yes, but you need some critical mass of cars, with 2 or 3 the faster cars will just drive away from the rest.
>>97887248Gameplays fun, especially with the vehicles expansion. Need to finish painting my Keth Crusaders eventually.
A guy on UK ebay is selling 74 Imperial Regulars and Ducal Militia for £74. One quid per mini is good.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/306866396635?_skw=trench+crusade&itmmeta=01KP4A2PFTHZK09FSCH3HMD592&hash=item4772a99ddb:g:~0sAAeSwlK5pw9ZB&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAA0GfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xBLAfRPyzEXIYCHaNETz2NHwjDFc1Q1XBlR86u1B79lssEQe%2FImfpWPqOIrfB2KREhDC1RTzNDPE4mlMJXPbaijATeC9oxiaTq9oUg3YdIAoahaAf2wrJHXrowe%2BaIKK5AuTLaPRUPbcehfua9L%2FOJjGgzefL7DdztxnhjVeSOnqVY5GBbnnKc1UGgFHOHlDR%2Fr5NJRrxMUGOj8n%2BJolPudHb8%2BXe0lB6cabP9LtZqp8nK30LXATN93o3ppx0kqsVE%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR5DoioqxZw
>>97881032Is BLKOUT any good? I know almost nothing besides the minis look cool. Wouldn’t mind a new skirmish game.
>>97888557a buddy's picking me up the blackpact starter, once i get a chance to play i'll report back.i don't care if it's shit, it's the only game i can play space pirates
>>97888557I haven't played it myself but I've heard that the game is fast moving and tactically inclined, positioning seems to matter a lot and units die quickly if exposed. I just can't get into a game that lives on 3d prints for the majority of its content.
>>97888699Isn't it just "near future operators operating operationally"? There's fuckloads of that in plastic and metal.
>>97888875It's got a near-futurism sci-fi bend to it
>>97888557I enjoy it. Despite the factions all being "dudes with guns", their force-specific rules and specialized armories do a good job of setting a play style/feel for each faction. Things die very quickly, so positioning, utilizing cover, and anything else you can do to give yourself an advantage in a gun fight really matter (normally you roll 2d10 for your shooting check, cover removes 1d10, being in the open adds 1d10, etc. Hits become armor saves, and a "good" save is something like a 4+ or 5+ in 1d10.).Plays fast as a result, so you can run through multiple games in an afternoon.
I came across Steel Rift at adepticon and the models are just super fun, anyone else seen it before?
>>97889524
Planning on getting into Konflikt, and playing Axis because I think the Locust and Wotann mechs are cool as fuck and was planning on using the italian Aquila and Centurions for my ground forces. A friend of mine plays Bolt Action and I know there's some cross compatibility between the systems; can I use the models in the Lions of Folgore or Vincere e vinceremo in Konflikt '47 or are they like the wrong era or whatever the compatibility clause is?
>>97889809You can proxy your Axis guys with 6mm space marines if you want, the minis police aren't going to fuck with you. See how much your friend who you want to play with cares about historicity, if both of you are cool with it nobody else needs to have an opinion.
>>97881032So does Epic Armageddon get any love here? I've been reading and playing it and im impressed with how tight the game part of it is. It's been fun. Looking for resources / references / links / stories if you have some.
>>97890039My friend and I were dumb teenagers who loved warhammer but had very little money and spent hours just looking at shit at the lgs. One day a new product appeared, boxes that claimed to hold 100's of figures but only cost 17$. We examined all six sides carefully, discussed how this could be possible until finally the irate clerk who was sick of us came over and said "You don't want that. They aren't as big as you think, they're just as big as it shows on the box." (There is a life size pic of them on the side) We chose not to believe him, bought it anyway, got it to my house and were initially disappointed but wound up spending literal days playing huge battles with them. We must have been playing some dumb homebrew the whole time, I know we never shelled out for something as boring as a rulebook. That's my only story, I think you should talk about Epic here but some might chase you to the GW specialist thread.
>>97886093I looked at the rules since my earlier posts and there is a place for clean moneyed corporate racers too, not just rusty wasteland scrappers, so now im doing a pair of high end, uniform design, laser weapon supercars too.Even drilled rivets to separate the chassis/interior/window shells this time.
>>97887487>I nearly bought an N scale Dairy Queen last weekThere is still time to remedy this error before it is too late.
>>97881566You will download Sploodge 29 and you will enjoy it.
>>97890170Nice. Dunk on the poor wasteland rats.
>>97890133>making up homebrew rules to play toy soldiers, just having a good time with your friendAbsolutely giga-based, kino, SOVL, and childhood whimsy pilled
>>97890170hell yeah, I know about the wreck lobber and the speed cultists and the trailers full of moonshine, but I think it's most satisfying to drive a Miyazaki performance car with a simple shotgun over the finish line.>>97890172It looks to be about equivalent to 10mm, I have some 15mm stuff but I think it might look too small. Still thinkin about it tho
>>97890342Ive actually heard about some historicals players using 10mm buildings with their 15mm minis, something about being more accurate to ground scale or something like that
>>97888557>around 50 EUR(plus god knows what extra tax and shipping costs) for 8 minis and some printed cards and rules that are available online ehh...wonder what I could use to proxy
>>97890689I would imagine any 28mm special forces minis would get you by.I know INCOUNTRY and SPECTRE do physical minis of various specops groups, and FlyTrap Digital, Black Hills Games, and TurnBase do STLs
>>97890689>>97890725Wargames Atlantic do a box of special forces/modern regulars
Has anyone tried 1490 Doom? or is it another Turnip 28, but with an extremely overpriced pdf? Because it seems interesting for what little I've seen so far
>>97891358I pirated it when it came out. Should still be able to find it in the usual place. The actual rules are meh, nothing very interesting or inspired, doesn't' really work with the idea of miasma clouds or elevation at all, even though that's the main reason the world is ending. For a game that runs on vibes they're only half baked. ymmv but pirate it first, its a lot for a book with that minimal content as far as I'm concerned.
>>97891368>doesn't' really work with the idea of miasma clouds or elevation at allIt was the one thing that I notices from the few battle reports I saw, but I give it the benefit of the doubt due to BR usually being done quickly for views and missing rules or misreading rules. Still looking for something that is a middle ground of the brain dead rules that is something like OPR and the schizo mess that is NuNecromunda.
1490 Doom is unironically a Mormon plot to co-opt and commercialise the indie games scene via Napoleon Dynamite propaganda
>>97891388>Napoleon DynamiteMy third world ass has not consume enough corn syrup to get this reference.
>>97891403They got the (Mormon) star of the film Napoleon Dynamite to make a film about "grimdark wargaming" in which he blunders about and also there's a commercial for 1490 Doom in the middle of the "film"
>>97888166can I get a quick qrd of it pls?
>>97890253Took the big laser barrels off and left the mount as just a camera, can't fit much on the performance car chassis if you want 2 in a standard 50 can game.Gaslands is touted as super ccustomizable but looking at the rules you really get boxed in with the chassis/sponsor/cans combination, I see now why most experienced builds I saw in painting videos only have one or two machine guns per vehicle. My last truck with rockets/ram/machine gun doesn't really work.
>>97890725>>97890877ngl half of the game's appeal are the cool minis
>>97890253>>97890342Also really frustrating that Jet Engine is chassis locked and Rocket Thrusters are sponsor locked :/
ngl, i'm kinda hyped
>>97892248I could never get into Parsecs. I didn't enjoy it when I read the rules from a pdf so I bought the book. I didn't enjoy it when I had the product in hand. I don't enjoy battle reports and I particularly dislike the setting. But I enjoy Renegade Scout.By all means, please, try and sell me on it. I want to enjoy more things.
Some of the new samurai for wz eternal.
>>97892315These guys look too advanced to be Mishiman, Mishima use bootleg gear with chaff filled ranks, these guys don't give that vibe at all.
