>>97885822>TQI only played the intro game twice with the starter set at the start of 4th. It was not what I would call a game you can play over a lunch break, maybe a Spaniards definition of a lunch break, but it’s certainly at least played much better than kill team, and the set up time wasn’t as awful as boarding patrol. Haven't paid much attention to it beyond that, but I’ll admit if they continue to release vs boxes like city of ash in the future I will be interested. The mat alone is quite atmospheric, though I hope they innovate with the terrain, fucking gooner town has better proxies for that that fit more.
>>97885841That’s not the image I wanted to post but fuck it I’ll just stick with it.
>>97885841the difference between the art and the actual model of the magma dragon always makes me laugh
>>97885905there are multiple artworks of it
>>97885824I think it comes down to 40k-esque "sloptuber reading a wiki page" culture. The funny thing is aos actually rarely retcons stuff, most of the time they just write things in and out of the lore. For example new cities of sigmar look like that now because of this or that invention, the standard colour scheme got changed because it got changed *in-universe*, or bonesplitterz and boc getting an in-universe explanation for their squatting.
>>97885822>TQBack in 2024, I've split a skaventide box with a buddy. We managed to get a first game about 2-3 weeks afterward. Was fun, but stormcast box felt a little bit weak. Felt like you just had to rush the opponents strongest units to compensate for your warband being too small.Afterwards we played more games. I bought some units on second hand to build other spearhead bands, while he stuck with the one he got from the box.Unfortunately, non of my other buddies are interested in the game due to how basic it is.Saw one of my lgs host spearhead games every week so I might check that out.My personal gripe about spearhead would have to be that ability/tactic cards being hidden breeds gotcha moments, that I AoS isn't supposed to have unless your opponent is a prick.
What's everyone working on? What'd you get done this weekend?Post some models, gentlemen.
>>97885822>TQI've only played 3 games of spearhead due to the length of time it's taken me to paint my models, and they've all been blasts. One fun story was the end of this game I had against my buddy's seraphon as I was teaching him and another friend how to play (we're all familiar with 40k and are branching out).We had an extremely close game, lots of back and forth with my models usually being fodder to hold back lizards and steal objectives and points, with some fun moments like my bull living against his t-rex with 1 wound, and slapping back and killing it the next turn with full DPP being spent to do so.The final turn had me scoring the absolute maximum points I could in 1 turn, getting all 3 objective points and then miraculously being able to score all 3 of my battle tactics for the round, flipping the game and scoring me the win by 1 point. All 3 of us at the table were so excited seeing it go down.
>>97885973The aforementioned t-rex vs bull fight. The beefy lizards made short work of the infernal cohort and slew the bull afterwards.
>>97885961Finished my manifestations last week. There’s a good chance I’ll start my Calligrave and Lord Regent tonight.
>>97886000Absolutely stunning work, man. How long did the color transitions on those crystals take? Looks so tedious but the results are gorgeous.
>>97886068Thanks. They took less than an evening each, but I kinda had to restart on the lighter one because my initial basecoat was too dark, basically the darkest color on the facet. It was actually kinda fun and less tedious because they were just flat surfaces. To put it into perspective, the glazing on the runes for the sanctum took me longer to do.
>>97885841>monstrous arcanumVgh...I wonder what kind of bullshit forgeworld would've released if it was still around and the team wasn't redirected towards their own games. Idoneth whale? Random resin stormcast characters? That one bigass kharadron ship? We would've gotten the cogfort a lot earlier, that's for sure.
>>97886104I doubt GW would ever bother to do dedicated AoS models. Everything we got was either 40k or WHF leftovers.
>>97885911Doesn't save the sculpt from looking like a kids toy
>>97886165>>inb4 he was supposed to be tamurkhan's brother
>>97886174everything's gonna look like a kids toy anon, it's a goofy fantasy game
>>97886197nta but different gradationssee also the fisher price asarnil dragon
>>97886232I had one of these things recently, some guy had dumped his entire WHF collection off at my store. I didn't know the wings were plastic.
anyone able to share the following?Wrath of the EverchosenSeasons of War ThondiaWar at Amberstone WatchBattle of Glymmsforge
>>97886356As stupid as it looks it is still kinda cool
>>97886471There's something to be said about the old designs, yeah they're chunky and weird, but I think there's a lot of charm to them. I have the OG Gotrek and the new one, and realistically I like my old one more.
>>97886356I do like some of the old fantasy dragon sculpts, like the wood elf dragon and the high elf ones, and the later sculpt of the black dragon as well (outside the holes in wings.)
