>>97885822>TQI only played the intro game twice with the starter set at the start of 4th. It was not what I would call a game you can play over a lunch break, maybe a Spaniards definition of a lunch break, but it’s certainly at least played much better than kill team, and the set up time wasn’t as awful as boarding patrol. Haven't paid much attention to it beyond that, but I’ll admit if they continue to release vs boxes like city of ash in the future I will be interested. The mat alone is quite atmospheric, though I hope they innovate with the terrain, fucking gooner town has better proxies for that that fit more.
>>97885841That’s not the image I wanted to post but fuck it I’ll just stick with it.
>>97885841the difference between the art and the actual model of the magma dragon always makes me laugh
>>97885905there are multiple artworks of it
>>97885824I think it comes down to 40k-esque "sloptuber reading a wiki page" culture. The funny thing is aos actually rarely retcons stuff, most of the time they just write things in and out of the lore. For example new cities of sigmar look like that now because of this or that invention, the standard colour scheme got changed because it got changed *in-universe*, or bonesplitterz and boc getting an in-universe explanation for their squatting.
>>97885822>TQBack in 2024, I've split a skaventide box with a buddy. We managed to get a first game about 2-3 weeks afterward. Was fun, but stormcast box felt a little bit weak. Felt like you just had to rush the opponents strongest units to compensate for your warband being too small.Afterwards we played more games. I bought some units on second hand to build other spearhead bands, while he stuck with the one he got from the box.Unfortunately, non of my other buddies are interested in the game due to how basic it is.Saw one of my lgs host spearhead games every week so I might check that out.My personal gripe about spearhead would have to be that ability/tactic cards being hidden breeds gotcha moments, that I AoS isn't supposed to have unless your opponent is a prick.
What's everyone working on? What'd you get done this weekend?Post some models, gentlemen.
>>97885822>TQI've only played 3 games of spearhead due to the length of time it's taken me to paint my models, and they've all been blasts. One fun story was the end of this game I had against my buddy's seraphon as I was teaching him and another friend how to play (we're all familiar with 40k and are branching out).We had an extremely close game, lots of back and forth with my models usually being fodder to hold back lizards and steal objectives and points, with some fun moments like my bull living against his t-rex with 1 wound, and slapping back and killing it the next turn with full DPP being spent to do so.The final turn had me scoring the absolute maximum points I could in 1 turn, getting all 3 objective points and then miraculously being able to score all 3 of my battle tactics for the round, flipping the game and scoring me the win by 1 point. All 3 of us at the table were so excited seeing it go down.
>>97885973The aforementioned t-rex vs bull fight. The beefy lizards made short work of the infernal cohort and slew the bull afterwards.
>>97885961Finished my manifestations last week. There’s a good chance I’ll start my Calligrave and Lord Regent tonight.
>>97886000Absolutely stunning work, man. How long did the color transitions on those crystals take? Looks so tedious but the results are gorgeous.
>>97886068Thanks. They took less than an evening each, but I kinda had to restart on the lighter one because my initial basecoat was too dark, basically the darkest color on the facet. It was actually kinda fun and less tedious because they were just flat surfaces. To put it into perspective, the glazing on the runes for the sanctum took me longer to do.
>>97885841>monstrous arcanumVgh...I wonder what kind of bullshit forgeworld would've released if it was still around and the team wasn't redirected towards their own games. Idoneth whale? Random resin stormcast characters? That one bigass kharadron ship? We would've gotten the cogfort a lot earlier, that's for sure.
>>97886104I doubt GW would ever bother to do dedicated AoS models. Everything we got was either 40k or WHF leftovers.
>>97885911Doesn't save the sculpt from looking like a kids toy
>>97886165>>inb4 he was supposed to be tamurkhan's brother
>>97886174everything's gonna look like a kids toy anon, it's a goofy fantasy game
>>97886197nta but different gradationssee also the fisher price asarnil dragon
>>97886232I had one of these things recently, some guy had dumped his entire WHF collection off at my store. I didn't know the wings were plastic.
anyone able to share the following?Wrath of the EverchosenSeasons of War ThondiaWar at Amberstone WatchBattle of Glymmsforge
>>97886356As stupid as it looks it is still kinda cool
>>97886471There's something to be said about the old designs, yeah they're chunky and weird, but I think there's a lot of charm to them. I have the OG Gotrek and the new one, and realistically I like my old one more.
>>97886356I do like some of the old fantasy dragon sculpts, like the wood elf dragon and the high elf ones, and the later sculpt of the black dragon as well (outside the holes in wings.)
>>97885192>"total lack of bias" yeah sure
>>97886356>>97886176>>97885841NGL part of what sold me on AoS vs original WHFB is how dogshit the dragons look in WHFB vs AoS
>>97886657KUHHHHHHHHRAZY DURAGONNN KUUUUUHRAZYYYYY DRAGON, AGHH IT IS HOREBOL!
>>97886675at least he's visually consistent and doesnt look like a 5 year old drew the base shape
>>97886683I was more making a pun about his stupid name, he's literally just called crazy spelled phonetically
>>97886689oh what the fuck you're right, i NEVER noticed that
>>97886657Depends on the dragon I suppose. Love the new soulblight one, the orc cabbage is cool too, and even the stardrake has some retarded charm to it. The stormcast ones on the other hand... except for the ionus one he's alright Wasn't tow supposed to get a chaos dragon? So all the waacpiggies can stop using ionus for their chaos lords.
>>97886693i have no clue but i actually like the dragons here, i just wish we would get devastator updates, they dont look great next to my krondys. people always get mad about the expressive faces but i genuinely dont care, i think its finei also need to buy ionus sometime, might do that this year
GUYS I found a leaked profile for the Freeguild knights from the new box!
>>97886176Really wish these two would at least get a nod in BoK fluff. They're pretty cool.
>>97886692It's a bit on the nose
>>97886356I wouldn't mind the old S dragons so much if it weren't for those ridiculous hands. Looks like they got crushed in a Tom and Jerry gag.
>>97886705>implying they are on 1W
So over under on the polearm guys just having been a warcry team before having that get mulched and slapped into a spearhead box alongside a few other things and calling it a day.
>>97886723I doubt they have the amount of options of a warcry team
>>978867382e Warbands were basically devoid of options, definitely not beyond the average kit tbf
>>97886827I was gonna say, the hunters for CoS had like... Crossbows or 2 guys with spears.
i miss warcry bros. i will not lie.
>>97886837Honestly me too, but I guess Spearhead stole its intended audience.
>>97886837I'm still fucking shocked that Underworlds was the one to make it out alive.
>>97886863i'm not, its incredibly popular in my area at least (west coast), any game store i went to had it and the open always has a ton of games of it being played (yknow, comparatively)
https://www.hachettecollections.com/en-us/warhammer-age-of-sigmar-stormbringer/?_kx=Ij5vrHwMm2Sw7_cw89tuLxIM68CvJvnfFI1bV4Cfn80.XtBy8r&Last of Stormbringer is out, stormdragon guard, swampboss, ardboyz and warchanter alongside carthalos. Get it before it bricks. burgerland only
>>97886847Spearhead stole the project lead* Then he left GW We only got the faq recently, it's up the air if it's been scrapped to 3rd is in the works
>>97886880going all online isnt great, man
>>97886356The only old dragon i really liked was that one forest dragon with the cool sisters on it. Looked weird? Yes but im the good way
>>97886875thanks for the heads up anon, i bought the stormdrake guard finally
>>97886965I snagged Skumdrekk since despite not having a kruleboyz army anymore I just really fucking like that model.
>>97886723The thought crossed my mind but they're way too uniform to be a warcry warband, except for flamethrower guy and maybe volleygun guy they're nothing special. Compare that to the actual cos warcry warband, the wildercorps.I think the gutter/night runners have more of a shot of being a recycled warcry warband than these guys.
>>97886990i actually ended up getting him too because i have orruks due to the start of stormbringer (i subscribed long enough to get krondys and then cancelled)
>>97887069I'll be excited if they wind up having the same website for excess stuff for spearhead like they did with stormbringer. If I can get a 26 buck Carnosaur kit I'd be floored.
