I'd like to hear stories about how your table has made you excited to GM/DM for them or play with them.>Be me, GM for Edge of the Empire>Mostly sandbox, sometimes player history/obligations crop up>Players routinely engage with the environment>They stay in character nearly the entire session and enjoy telling the story>None of them are spotlight hogs>They take a real interest in the goals of each other>The discord meant to track things between sessions? They start in-character roleplaying in the fucking discord>They always plan ambushes, traps, and clever ways to solve problems >For example, when breaking into an imperial black site they set up two rival gangs to fight, rigged their old ship (they planned to abandon anyway) explode, create a plausible alternative identity, lure the garrison away with a mining revolt, and trojan horse themselves on to the site in a supply shipment. >They always try to outsmart their enemies as much as possible, leaning into their relative weakness as combatants>They've started assembling their own semi-rebel cell>They lean into the more obscure mechanics such as customizing a base, their weapons, their ship>They create a group name and theme music to play during moments of triumphIt's so rewarding to plan sessions for them. Prep is so easy when they have goals. I know what they are trying to do so all I have to do is throw obstacles and curveballs for them to respond to. Anyone else having a blast with their group?
>>97890040My 2 tables fold. I asked for them as a present when I was in highschool and I still use them. They are good tables.
>>97890040>prepLMAO
>>97890040The last session we played was fucking fantastic, and the DM incorporated my characters backstory in a way that was cool as hell.>Be me, Human Cavalier Fighter>Be a nobleman, son of a Baron>Gain local legend status for my actions during a war against the Drow and the Orcs>My whole unit is slaughtered though, and im absolutely riddled with PTSD>Return to the noble life, but decide I cant put up with the galas and banquets after seeing what ive seen, so I leave to become an adventurer>Flash forward>In the underdark, fighting through an abandoned town filled with dead souls lead by a wraith>Kill wraith, most souls are freed except for a few>The remaining souls are all in locations that correspond to the characters in the party, blocked by magical doors so that only that specific character can enter>Get to my door, it has my families crest hanging above it, only the griffin that is normally white, is blood red above the door>Kinda weird, but okay>Go inside, see three souls>A man holding a dagger, arguing with a woman holding a holy symbol, and a baby, laying in a circle covered with evil runes, distracted by a butterfly mobile>I can hear them arguing now>The man and woman are husband and wife, and the baby is theirs>The husband is saying something about a dark lord and how the sacrifice will guarantee his spot as a commander in the dark lord's army>The woman is saying something about her god, and how she refuses to serve the dark lord>The argument ends with the room shaking, the man and woman both surprised and looking around scared>All three souls disappear, leaving only the dagger, the holy symbol, and a butterfly from the baby's mobile>Suddenly, my character gets the overwhelming feeling that he needs to pick one of the objects>He picks the butterfly, and the world goes black>Suddenly a humanoid figure appears, masked by a blinding radiant light
>>97890040>>97890632>The Figure Laughs. "Youre a handful, you know that young Master Hartwick? (Hartwick is my characters family name btw)>The figure approaches>"The gods watch you with great interest you know. It seems you walk a tightrope between good and evil, between light and darkness">The figure gets even closer, but I still cant see him through the light>"Yet at every turn you seem to frustrate them all, refusing to leave your tighrope and pick a side">My eyes begin to adjust and I can start to make out facial features on the figure, he's smiling>"But thats what I like about you young Hartwick, you bring balance">He pauses>"Do you know who I am, young Hartwick?">I reply no>"My name is Helm, and I am going to make you my disciple">I stammer, realizing im in the presence of a god>"Would you like to know who those people were" He asks>I say yes>"The man holding the dagger was your great great great grandfather, and the child was his son, your great great grandfather">Im in shock, not believing my family would ever stoop so low as to worship a necromancer>"There are many things you don't know about your own blood, young Hartwick, but that will be something you must learn later. Go now and rejoin your friends, we WILL meet again">Im dumped outside the door, back in the real world, completely in shock and totally rattled>Now have to make sure I get out of the underdark so I can find out the secrets of my families pastShit was cool as fuck and I was so hyped. Our DM took us each away from the table individually to describe our door scene, so none of us have any clue what the others saw behind their door
>>97890634>>97890632Awesome story
>>97890078I'm more of an extendable table guy. Normally it's round. But it has proper support and protrusions to add either one or two extra panels in the middle, making it oval and then really long, so it can fit 10 people with ease, while also handling any board game I throw in if needed.
