They wouldn't be able to properly execute their function as bodyguard of the Emperor without them. But I really hate the Eldar grav tank rip-offs that cuckstodes got, so ugly.
>>
>>97903578
Man I saw one of these in person recently and Jesus christ they're so big. Bigger than their stats or the pictures imply. And yet, even they don't look like they could actually fit 7 custodes inside once you take away to grav nacelles lol.

Thanks for the replies back in the previous thread, I have a follow-up question: did the Incubi exist during the Heresy as well? I'm getting very mixed messages when searching for it.
>>
>>97903714
Probably, yes. Aspect warriors from the oldest shrines show up in HH novels, and some sources (6th edition eldar codex iirc) say Arhra betrayed the other Phoenix Lords shortly after the Fall of the Eldar.

Big guns to go with having the best fighters and premium dreadnoughts is fine. It's Sisters that should fulfill many of the other odd niches they don't bother with, with psykers obviously off-limits, but GW gutted the fuck out of them in 3.0, so...

Now when will they do an Aquilon Shield-Captain? Coasting on effectively one HQ and a half for however long in Heresy is pretty fucking lousy.
>>
>>97903578
>TQ
Why not?
You are hardpressed to counter enemy vehicles with infantry alone, unless terrain is high or you have high speed to get in to melta range.
As they are a fighting force, not having vehicles would be very odd.
I'm more surprised the venatari do not have more dedicated anti-vehicle gear.

The same reasoning sorta as why I headcanon muh dudes to have all their vehicles operated by servitors, Astartes have advantages over humans in every respect sure, but their greater ones are being tougher, stronger and faster, which comes into play most in hand to hand combat, not sitting in the driver's seat of a rhino.

Solar aux aren't any more difficult to paint than kreigers, assuming you painted them. The armour is quite raised so you can do the under suit first then tidy up when you do the armour. they take contrast very well too.

Blasts used to always be 2D6 scatter, minus BS, unless you rolled a hit. For BS 4 this meant scattering 3" was the most likely result.
>>
>>97906088
>How many scatter dice did they use to roll?
same as everything else, 2d6.
And average scatter would be 7" - BS which was 4, meaning you scattered on average 3" problem is, scattering 3" means you miss a 32mm target, and just barely clip a 40mm target.

That's the best way for them to be in HH, starting them down the path of Slaanesh. And I'm fine with them devolving over 10,000 years into "muh excess" by 40k.

>scatter
To follow up on what everyone else said: Your BS didn't help you land direct hits. Your BS3 Militia fire support squad had the same chance of landing a direct hit with a frag missile as your BS5 Veteran Tacticals; that is, 1/3, because the scatter die had 2 hit faces. It was OK on bigger targets and/or bigger blasts because you couldn't scatter far enough to actually miss, but it got to the point where plasma TSS were actually stronger than plasma HSS purely because you couldn't count on your plasma cannons to hit infantry model, whereas the plasma gun was just straight up 2 shots at BS4.
>>
>>97906262
>Your BS didn't help you land direct hits.
I mean it kinda did.
You could roll a direct hit, but the high your BS, the higher you had to roll before you started to scatter
With a BS of 4, rolling a 2, 3 or 4 on the scatter die was just as good as rolling a direct hit. So i mean yeah it did kinda matter.

BUT yes, The reason scatter sucked in 1.0 and 2.0 is because GW had been using the same scatter template size since 3rd, and the problem is bases did not stay the same size, so it was a lot harder to get more hits.

But yeah large templates did not have this problem becusae 2d6 - BS4 resulted in a hit on the intended target on average with a large blast .

Either way 3.0 blast rules? Big brained.
>>
>>97906262
A nuncio vox (provided re-rolls for scatter in 2.0) did make plasma cannon hss quite reliable. But resolving up to 10 scatters with re-rolls took forever, easily doubled the duration of a shooting phase.
>>
>>97906319
plus the other thing always was....you could just take las canons for the same cost iirc
>>
>>97906149
Speaking of, are the Kakophoni figures wearing MK VII armor? Sure as fuck looks like it in the pics. Would adding bits from the "modern day" noise marines, like their backpacks for instance, be heresy approved? Fuck GW for not giving them guitars, the Fulgrim book said that their weapons were also STRING BASED instruments, and I know...

Slowly painting my way through some batches of infantry

how much tolerance do /you/ have for kitbashing night lords when it comes to putting them in distinctly off-legion armor they presumably stole and redecorated

Those look like some fine and upstanding citizens.

Are you building blood angels and painting them in NL colors or something? Just how evident is it?

Working on my unfinished minis

As an NL player? I use Pollux and Corswain in my collection. But I have also removed all relevant insignia from them.

If you mean "actual iconography"? As long as its clearly "scavenged" rather than "a model from another legion painted blue".

Is solar auxilia really the only thing they have for humans? I’m not a fan of steam punk shit.

There's also militia. Gotta decide which models you wanna use for everything yourself, but their rules are free.

If only there was a way to models with a design you enjoy, but where could one find human troopers with some armour and a laser rifle?
>>
>>97910429
Theres militia, which has basically any human aesthetic you want.

Ah Death Guard.
The first resort for shit painters everywhere

How are we still working with these dogshit PDFs? By this point, we had perfect scans for 2nd ed.

Where'd you get the shoulders?
>>
>>97910829
A recaster. Theyre just the old MKII ones.
>>
>>97910815
No we didn't. For 2.0 GW still released digital EPUB of the rulebooks, and converting those to PDF was piss easy and takes little time compared to having to manually scan every page of a physical book. Which is what is needed for 3.0, because GW stopped releasing digital versions of the rulebooks. Which is frankly insane, the weight of the main rulebook, liber astartes, and some journals is not trivial for anybody who isn't a healthy reasonably fit guy.
>>
>>97910930
The books arent that heavy. But yea, its super inconvenient.
>>
>>97911007
As much as I hate people spending time scrolling on their phones during a game, GW's games are un-ironically being carried by 3rd party apps.
>>
>>97907909
Oh I get the irony now. You say that whenever you post something horrible
>>

They can be useful for posing. Arms are the big thing. I tried using normal mk2 to make an adherent squad and they came out looking kind of stupid thanks to arm poses, the assault squad arms are much better for melee + gun. The chest plates might look weird though.

Chang doesnt sell the lascutters a la carte, I want to do vet breachers so badly but they literally only fucking come in singles from entire breacher upgrade kits. This infuriates me to no end
