>>97911373https://realmofchaos80s.blogspot.com/2016/03/lead-of-winter-how-to-be-oldhammer-gm.htmlwhy lie about this sort of thing? you're surely aware that we can just search these images and see that this isn't your game, it's something from march of 2016, right?
>TQIt's my TQ so obviously Ogres.
>>97911473>TQOgres. Perfect enemy faction for Cathay and I think everybody would appreciate more support for mercenary ogres.
>>97911473>TQI'm gonna say dark elves because 1.) it's egregious that they weren't already in the game and 2.) because they're sick as fuck
>>97911473>Which Legacy faction would you want to return to TOW first?Give me my edgy elves back.
>>97911473>TQkind of a hard question honestly. The only one I don't care about is chaos dwarfs. I'd say dark elves because I'd like to see what they do with them to make them unique more so than Lizardmen, Vampires, or Ogres.
Is there a version of this art without the cover text? It's really good Witch Hunter art.
Do people enjoy hearing battle reports for casual games between friends?I recently brought my Skaven to a game against my friends Dwarves. We play a narrative mission about him defending his Dwarf hold against my ambush whilst his king strove to avenge a grudge against my warlord.
>>97911644Yes let's hear it! Sick looking Abomination too
>>97911644First turn set up. The Skaven set up for an attempt to put pressure on turn one. Meanwhile the dwarves attempt to ambush units in to slow the advance while their catapult obliterates the rats.
>>97911652At the end of turn one the Skavens attempts at charging are thwarted thanks to the dwarves entrenched position. However the evil Grey Seer does manage to pick off a few quarellers thanks to some well placed warp lightning.
>>97911656Dwarf counterattacks lead to the marching rat ogres being out flanked and terror routed off the table. Meanwhile in a battle of the warlord versus the the king the Skavens draw first blood, as their rapid attacks force the dwarves back
>>97911652>>97911656>>97911659SOVL. I am guessing Skaven/you took this battle?
>>97911659In an utter disaster the Skavens warlord is baited in by the dwarf king, who counterattacks and slays the warlord in a single massive blow.
>>97911745Meanwhile the frontline of the Skavens still cannot break into the front line. Luckily for them the warp lightning of the Doom wheel deals massive damage ravaging the dwarves in their entrenched position
Finally the Skavens front line breaks through with a mighty crash! Armour breaks, torches fail, and the dwarves mighty valour fails against the horrors of the Skaven monsters and machines. The Skaven have almost reached the throne that the dwarves have been trying to protect
>>97911751Just as the Skaven manage to burst through the dwarves front lines and victory is in sight for the grey seer his hubris causes him to overlook the dwarf counterattack. All of a sudden each flank burst forward and slays the doomwheel and several clanrats, causing the Skaven spearhead to collapse. The dwarves celebrate a minor victory as the grey seer and his rabble and routed out and forced to retreat. However, the losses for the dwarves are vast and their hold has been breached, leaving the question of whether this was a true victory or merely a prolonging of the inevitableThat was the end of the battle, we had to call it there for time. Hope you all enjoyed this terribly written, awfully played, casual as fuck battle report.
>>97911633that's some warcraft shit
>>97911473TQ:None, since they are all boring. They should rather focus and new and cooler factions
So batrep against dwarfs time it is.The dwarven emissary looked furious. Yes, the hold was lost, but it didn't mean that men, one after another, could try and reclaim its treasures for themselves. As soon as he returned to the camp and gave his word, the thane decided to move upon the human settlement and make sure the young human noble won't be taking any spoils from the old tunnels. Both lines advanced under the fire of handguns and artillery. Empire wizards barely made any change, but still some dwarfs fell down to the ground consumed by flames and shadows. Pistoliers who made a bold advance were obliterated by dwarven missile troops. On the far flank, the crew of the mortar were sweating hard, taking their heavy piece forward for a better position, which would turn out to be a one of the crucial moves to save the stirlanders. While empire cavalry and some militia were circling around the forest, dwarfs moved forward with their steady pace. Still losses on both sides, which are quite small. No matter the flying rocks, cannonballs, or splashes of fire. Flagellants moved to intercept the dwarf line, one of the wizards attempted to make shadows he controlled swallow their enemies but all of them managed to crawl out from the clutches of his spell.
>>97912103Soon cavalry moved into the forest on the dwarven flank, in the meantime slayers prepared for the battle and covered the flank of their thane and his guard. Under the shadow of chateau, the crazed mob of lunatics clashed against dwarven steel. In the meantime miners managed to find their way out and advanced upon the mortar crew. The Empire charged their enemies in the center, but dwarfs were unfazed. Losses were slight on both sides, but as it is well known, slayers would stand their ground no matter what, while minor losses to the knights forced the captain to retreat, thane attempted to cut him down, but both forces were so exhausted that they barely managed to move behind or into the forest. While knights rallied and prepared themselves for the charge with the support of free company, the cannon crew managed to strike a perfect shot into the miners. Enough of the dwarfs were down for the rest to decide that it would be way better to get underground, and so they fled, leaving the mortar crew unmolested. Thanks to that, not fearing for their lives, they shoot the dwarves pursuing knights and manage to strike enough fear into them, that they also panic. The middle of the battlefield, was a terrible sight to behold. Slayers cut down enough of the swordsmen to make them flee. No one expected that, but dwarf madmen cut down all humans and made a mad rush forward (max pursuit for stunties, 11"), getting into the fight with spearmen. On the right flank combat between mountain folk and fanatics still raged, and as it turned ut with losses on both sides, it won't end until the very end of the battle.
>>97912108In the final moments when spearmen were obliterated by slayers who almost left the battlefield drunk and high on bloodlust, empire captain decided that instead of raining artillery fire and magic upon the dwarf thane and his retinue, he'll take this honor on himself and his remaining knights. The charge and duel were brutal, but both forces held. Unfortunately, the ruse planned by the militia didn't come to fruition, and they didn't manage to get to the dwarf flank in time to secure their lord's victory. In game terms, that was the closest game I had in my life: 669 for dwarfs, 664 for empire.
>>97912110Really enjoyed that, cheers
>>97911757Pretty radical honestly, well done man. Shame the Skaven couldn't kill more dwarfs but still, good work.
>>97911644Only if fully painted
Any guesses on how any potential unit roster for Kislev could look in ToW, if we ever get them? For now I'll skip things they're supposedly reconsidering (ie the bear sleds, bear cannon, etc) and baba yaga units:>lord and hero version of the boyar, priest (tor and ursun) and ice witches>kossars like in 6E (hand weapon, bow, great weapon and no armor) but now you can buy them some armor, shields, swap bows for pistols or the great weapon for a spear>cavalry pretty much as in 6E, hopefully bears will become mount options for only the boyar (lord, not the hero version) and the priest of ursun>tzar guard as the elite infantry unit with stubborn and either hand weapon and shield or great sword - something here needs to be done to make them more than just the greatswords but kislev>ice guard with magical attacks on their bows and either halberds or two hand weapons, would suffer from a similar problem: how to make them something more than sisters of avelorn but kislev, probably a special rule that slows down enemies hit by their arrows by 1">streltsi would probably have armor and a weapon that either just works as having both a handgun and greataxe or something altogether newSince it was Boris that pretty much revived the cult of Ursun the writers can say that there no ridable bears at this point in the history of the old world, or say that it's still at the point before they fell from grace and have bears everywhere.
What is the most kino unit for a Witch Hunter to lead?Tied between putting the witch hunter on a horsey and letting him lead some knights or putting him in a fat block of free company militia
>>97912408>skip things they are supposedly reconsideringthey won't be reconsidering anything, if Kislev got everything from total war it is still a small roster on par with what Cathay got. Kislev is also hinted in the rulebook as having everything it does in TW, they even say 'ice wreathed sleds' etc.>the writers can say there are no rideable bearsno because riding bears was probaby common BEFORE the great war, it was because of Tsar Alexis and the big role he Empire had in stabilising Kislev post-war that it shifted to more imperial tastes and ideas, which lasted until Boris who then sought a return to the old ways. Prior to the Great War when Kislev was nearly at the height of its power we can assume there were more bear cavalry units than ever, less imperial influence and also the most cannon because little grom is just a holdover from the many cannons Tsar Alexis commissioned. Following the Cathay model which there is no reason they wouldn't copy for Kislev, we'll start with eight units consisting of two HQs, two core units, two special units and two rare units. Most likely it'll be:>HQsBoyar on bear mountIce Witch mounted and on foot>CoreKossars with bows and great weapons or shield and spears/h weaponsWinged Lancers>SpecialHeavy War SledBear Cavalry>Rare Little Grom Elemental Bear
>>97912443militia, definitely
>>97912447>no Gryphon Legion, horse archers or streltsiNot happening buddy.
>>97911652what size are you using for the table?
>>97912443Not taking into account rules then peasants with torches and pitchforks.Or criminals in chains
>>97912408I'm assuming they'll get as many kits as cathay>miao ying / bear centerpiece >sentinel / bear cannon (transport sled alt build)>lantern / bear cavalry >ligma / hero on bear>gatemasters / combat heroes>astromancers / ice witches (with leopard familiar)>warriors / warriors (sword and shield with streltsi alt build)>cavalry / winged lancers >paesants / ice guards >gunners / light kossars>artillery / horse archershow they'll split these waves is anyone's guess but I'm betting my hat that they'll do something stupid like delaying the more iconic units (like horse archers and normal kossars) in favour of the flashy newer concepts (ice guards, elemental bear) drawing lots of flakk for it and doomsaying about said units being removed entirely
Where does this idea come from that GW is ""reconsidering"" the total war aesthetic for kislev? Cathay came out basically 1 to 1, what little concept art we have for kislev is ice guard of the ice queen with ice weapons made of ice. Is it just cope or what?
>>97912507copium overdose
>>97912408They could pretty easily make this the starting roster>Boyar/Druzhina (One mounted, one of Foot)>Ice Witch/Ice Maiden (One mounted, one of Foot)>Kossars>Winged Lancers/Gryphon Legion>Ungol Horse Archers>Streltsi/Tzar Guard/Armoured Kossars>War Sled/Heavy War Sled/Little Grom>Ice Guard>War Bear Riders>Elemental Bear>Since it was Boris that pretty much revived the cult of Ursun the writers can say that there no ridable bears at this point in the history of the old world, or say that it's still at the point before they fell from grace and have bears everywhere. The Cult of Ursun specifically declined after the Great War Against Chaos, so it should be doing well during TOW.
>kislevI have vatnik fatigue already with the new metro game.
>>97912935Tbh I hate the sleds because they'd work in Kislev yes - but in other terrain they require magic as an excuse for their working, which is annoyingly high fantasy for a human faction
>>97912938Kislev is general 16th-17th centaury Western and Eastern Slavs. So it's actually interesting (to me at least) from a historical and setting point, since history gets kind of boring after the first world war.>>97912954I do hope they change that stupid Ice effect into normal Toboggans, because they work on both snow, and flat ground. Also make the Light War Sled be pulled by Horses instead of Bears since it would create a better distinction between it and the Heavy War Sled.
>>97911529dark elves would be based.but only if they release the old metal black guard and executioners. the plastic ones suck balls.
>>97912468gryphon legion are literally winged lancers, I don't think they'd release two cav in the first wave and out of horse archers and winged lancers it's not hard to guess which would get the chop and streltsi are almost certainly going to be second wave, they are an additional infantry same as crane gunners and won't make the first 8.
>>97912507Kislev is fine as-is in TWW EXCEPT for all the bear shit which ruins the uniqueness of Tzar Boris.
>>97913114That's like saying cathay is fine as is except for the fact that they're all chinese
