Or do you want them to get expanded with very similar units instead, like the blood hags are for witch elves? Or are you ok with such factions to exist as smaller things within a larger faction?
>TQAfter recent MtG debcles i am an expert in stupid animl ninjas: Yes, the concept isn't tht deep
TQ, for something like skaven, where several different clans provide specific niches to a cohesive and varied whole it makes sense to keep it as is. It doesn't matter that eshin are one note when you also have moulder and skryre, etc. The problem is factions that consist exclusively of what used to be a niche facet in old armies. The worst example is probably fireslayers. Slayers were my favourite unit in whfb, but a whole army consisting of mostly slayers doesn't work for me. Standing next to other stoic, armoured dwarfs was part of why the slayer concept worked.I kind of feel the same about witch elves. We don't have a dark elf faction where the witches are a contrast. DoK were (almost) a faction made exclusively from unclothed witches and monster girls, but I'd argue the whole witch concept works better as a part of a varied army (like in dark elves). Where ironically the new hags don't really work for me since they are neither naked enough to match the witches, nor armored enough to provide a contrast. The witches would look better if they stood next to fully armoured spearmen, along with hags that looked more like the witches.
>no Khinerai heroine exists>anvil of apotheosis just lets you make a Khinerai heroine anyways This is new.
I'm gonna proxxy some sloven knights.I was originally going to print chaos knights and just paint them green, but plague toad riders would take much less time to paint I think. The problem is that plague toad riders are pretty stocky and wide so I'm worried they won't fit on the base without being weirdly out of proportion....
How’s this guy look? I think I should paint the maggots on the bottom severed head at least before I varnish it. The washes are all very glossy so it looks weird against the matte acrylic paints. I also tried using the AP rust effect and idk really what I’m doing but it’s just a basic troop so whatevs senpai. Took my like 4-5 hours to do on my day off.
>>97912327Idk what this thing is supposed to be coming out of his behind. I think the character’s name is “Prolapsius” or something
>>97912226>tqEshin is fine as a relatively niche concept because they exist in tandem with all the other skaven clans. They don't need samurai or whatever bevause that's what your clanrats or stormvermin are for.For daughters of khaine, fyreslayers, etc. you do kind of have to broaden the concept though. DoK kind of did that by adding the monster girl angle, though it is still a very small range. Fyreslayers will go the other route and make them a subfaction again, which is probably for the best. DoK might follow in their footsteps too once umbraneth drop, though I think DoK have more legs to be their own faction if they wanted to.I think gloomspite are the best outcome of the "subfactions turned into their own thing" factions, because they succesfully integrated the existing night goblin theme (+squigs) with the trolls and spiders. It's got good variation, everything is tied together themstically (or was, until gitmob) and they expanded on each of the constituent subfactions (for example, bounders as "elite" squig hoppers, dankholds as troggoth heroes, that kind of stuff)Tldr depends on what you wanna do with them I guess. Subfactions can stay narrow, but if you wanna turn them into standalone factions you gotta broaden their scope a bit. Which gw has tried to varying degrees, with varying success.

Like eshin can get hired by other clans, that is fine. But i cant really picture Scâthborn next to Krethusa.
>>97912345>>97912327If you get some tonal shifts on the armour so its less flat this'll be a perfectly good tabletop standard piece. One that you can be proud of and that your opponent will think "god its so nice to play against someone that put effort into his army"
>>97912423>But i cant really picture Scâthborn next to Krethusa. That's one of the problems of that faction's fluff, it's way too centralised on morathi to the point the scathborn have less individual agency than a demon of a god, if once created they were allowed to have their own doubts and make their own choices of allegiance then we would have interesting stuff, like scathborn fleeing to khorne or slaanesh or ones that disown morathi in favour of the original khaine, after appropriate crisis of faith.I hope the shift to the last world and the incorporating of khainites into umbraneth comes with a big loss of influence for morathi so we can have such a schism and scattering of various subgroups of scathborn.
>>97912439i can do that. do you have a suggestion? I pretty much used a dark green then a wash then the same dark green and another slightly yellow dark green.
>>97912462i think krethusa just needs a way to make her own scâthborn or have morathi's control over some of them break.
>>97912476Given how she's basically carrying the torch of morai-heg, her being able to make the scathborn see through all the mind control bullshit would probably sork best, thematically
Has somebody a pdf of the new DoK codex?
>>97912301The footprint of the plague toads is roughly circular, so they will be out of proportion on an oval base. On the plus side they should fit on the 75x42 since they used to be squeezed onto 40x40. Maybe orient them "sideways", to empasize their width. Or add some flavourful basing on either flank.
WHEN?!
>>97912544>all the kurnothi kurnothi models are from sidegamesWhy is that anyway
>>97912559
>The Last World
>>97912559Same reason why eshin were teased through underworlds
>>97912561You know what I mean
>>97912301Make the frogs extra fat and put them sideways on tbe base
>>97912559Because underworlds has been used to sell a number of test sculpts for new hires as well as prototypes for new waves of models.
>>97912301I don't think a slightly wider base would break or affect the game
>>97912226>TQI think if i clan deserves an expansion is Pestilens, Eshin are fine as ninjas and only ninjas and it's not deep enough to become anything else.
>>97912559No one cares about Kurnoth enough to make anything else.
>>97912283Yeah they were part of the sand and bone wave + they got a new SH with their tome release too. Most factions have at least 2 spearheads right now, hell cities have 4. I think only fyreslayers, slaanesh and sons of behemat are stuck at one. I do wonder if they'll do anything new with the latter though.
>>97912226piggybacking off of the TG, are there any subfactions you wish GW explored more? Personally I'd like to see some more ironweld arsenal stuff, currently it's only really the cannon and soon the cogfort. We were talking about CoS' pseudo renaissance/hussite aesthetic they've got going on last thread, I think some more warmachines from that period or pseudo-automata (actual ones not whfb robo-horses) could be swell, as well as maybe an engineer type character maybe even some dwarfs
>>97912327slap some more washes on it, it isn't glossy and messy enough yet
>>97912725exploring more in what terms? models, novels or just general background? Crematorians for all three of those
Are the eshin rats going to remain locked inside the spearhead box or will they sell them as normal units?
>>97912463thin your paints holy shit this looks like you melted it
>>97912735New units never stay locked in spearhead boxes.
>>97912740I printed the body and sword arm. Everything but the head and axe comes from a resin printed scan of a chaos warrior. that's probably why it looks a bit chonky.
>>97912732models, mostly>>97912735the spearhead box is a fomo release, they'll be out on their own eventually>>97912748technically isn't this the first time *new* models have been locked to a spearhead box?
>>97912748>>97912735yeah it's likely that they'll release each half of the box seperately for the standard msrp minus the terrain and board and cards etc.
>>97912760only out of a technicality because it's the first time we have spearheads of completely new models, but it's not the first time we have a boxset with new models for two factions, such as starters, warcry and battle boxes. If the units are designed as standalone sprues, they will get released as individual products as well in due time.
So I wanted to get into the game with my bro I am a bit of a poorfag at the moment (temporarily, hopefully) so the spearhead box seemed perfect with two cool factions, terrain cards etc - could play pretty quickly. But Its sold out everywhere?? I guess its fomo? Why is this hobby dominated by fat nerds that insta buy anything games slopshop shit out (even though this looked like a good turd). Why cant chad normies poorfags like me have a piece of the turd. Its shit!
>>97912891try third party sites if GW is already sold out, it might be cheaper in the end as well.
>>97912891contact your local game stores, they may have some copies reserved for their store or can still backorder some
>>97912869it's actually a technicality twice over because we had (and have) models locked to spearhead boxes, just not new ones. Savagers are still only available via the darkoath SH iirc. But yes I can see these spearhead versus boxes effectively replacing the old vs box format. Doesn't 40k do something similar with their kill team starter sets?
>>97912899go ask Grok how to drown yourself
>>97912939would do, but the deepkin keep putting me back on land because they dont want me :(
>>97912901Pretty sure savagers were available separately at one point at least.
>>97912891Check the stores near you, always a chance. Also when fomo boxes like these instantly sell out there's a good chance they do a second run, happened with the recent chorf launch box for example.
Nippon soon my niggas.
nippon died millenia ago.
>>97912958Were they, or were they in the big Warcry box with Spiders?
>flipside gaming had like 400 copies for pre orderWew boy>>97912891I would check on eBay but I would hurry because I think people are starting to get the idea of scalping it.
>>97913037yes, they were in red harvest with the tarantulas brood. They did become available seperately later own though, but now they are limited to the spearhead darkoath.
>>97913029You mean Sunblossom Swordvassals?
>>97913076that's a sick name ngl
>>97913076Aren't they meant to be an undead faction of some kind, according to the leaks?
>>97913115No, leaks say nothing about them being anything more than a name, a spot on the map and one artwork. The idea that they would be a death faction comes from a completely separate hearsay coming from a completely different person who's been told that gw was potentially exploring nippon for fantasy by giving them two rulers, a living one and an undead one, with the nation having both living people and plenty of spirits, but that's not this aos faction, it's not even something that might actually be put in a pipeline rather than left as a fancy concept experiment behind the scenes.
