Has One Poops mechanics changed since set 5?

Cards that can interrupt your opponent during their turn, for or against?
>>97914689for. interaction is good.
>>97914739Interaction can be achieved without slowing down tempo
>>97914745but slowing down tempo is fun too unless you just want unga bunga me big combo
>>97914689Against. One of my major pet peeves about Magic. My turn is my turn, and if you were playing, it would be your turn. We ARE interacting, we each have turns. I'd like to be able to carefully plan my turn during your turn, and not have to change my plans every time you decide to yell STOP. Fuck that. You play on YOUR turn, and if I 'Unga bunga me big combo', that's YOUR problem.
>>97914689Against, kind of for the reasons >>97914808 brings up. Free interaction creates mini turns where you wait to the last moment to make your plays at all times, and that's boring riskless design. I'm not against interrupting your opponent's turn, but it has to be controlled. Dedicated reversal cards with conditional activations are better than free-playable instants. Telegraphing, commitments, and bluffing are better than the flexibility of just having it in hand.Hard as hell to do in a TCG setting and not have people bitch about it. People sit on the two extremes and either want to combo off free or have cards active with little to no tell. Anyone else just plays Netrunner.
>>97914689Card games are combat sims, a guy will shoot you in the gut as soon as he sees an opportunity so card games should reflect that
>>97914689Maybe it's because I was introduced to the hobby through magic back in 2001 when I was 7 but I think games without instant speed type play are kind of boring.
>>97914689For because otherwise it's either aggro world if it can't get interacted with or it's ramp. I like being able to slow down gameplans. Yes I'll also get interrupted but it makes for good length back and forth games.
>>97915393I was introduced to tcgs through Magic, too, but I ended up the opposite way. I remember the last game of Mtg I played was a 6 player commander game, but because we were all interrupting the shit out of each other, we kept losing track of whose actual turn it was. Now I play Lorcana, and I'm soooo much happier.
>commanderlmao
>>97912649Blurple Barbie is a deck for niggers. Game would be more enjoyable if they just limit Barbatos, Barbatos Adapt, and Amuro.
>>97912941The 2 starters makes sense so you can have full copies, boxes however it's more surprising that you are able to get all of those really>>97915734Considering they revealed last shooting b4 the list we knew amuro wasn't getting touchedWith the CCA confirmation it really doesn't helpSure they'll likely make up a new era right one for the Nu but just like with quattro/char, the og will still count. It would require specific stipulations to not & I can't imagine that kind of effort being put in. Even if an attempt is made to do different colors, that too can be countered in a similar fashion since Char is also getting a starter that is opposite to his current green/white.
>>97914689I like the way Duel Masters does it. There are plenty of effects that allow you to use cards on your opponent's turn (shield triggers being the most well known), but the timing is always during windows after your opponent has finished doing something and normally requires your confirmation to continue (eg. after your shields are broken, after your opponent attacks but before you declare blockers, at the end of your opponent's turn, when you would lose the game, etc.).So you still get that mid-turn interaction but there's no risk of you missing your timing because your opponent was playing too fast.
>>97914689Depends, I think some amount can be fine but most combat tricks and counter "no u" spells are just faux interaction for brainlets that don't actually want to play around things
>ramp 2>draw 2 and trash 2>and is a 2k countertalk about powercreep
I hate OPs purple color so much
>>97914689your turn structure should have interaction built in
>>97915734>Blurple Barbie is a deck for niggersPerfect for me :)
every deck runs either Barbatos 1st form or starter Aile Strike.
>>97914689I'd only play games with it. I prefer being able to outwit or surprise my opponent. All these other games are just about setting up a board stateBut design philosophy always goes back to wanting tcgs to be played quickly and easily
>>97914689Depends on so many other variables as to only be a pointless argument starter, etc>but muh interactionPlayers who think the only type of possible interaction in card games are interrupts are braindead

The Anacaona deck has like as many monsters as it has people. I love it.
>>97919018>I prefer being able to outwit or surprise my opponent. There's no skill in being lucky enough to draw your out. You are not outwitting anybody. It's not a surprise when you play your out. Even a Yugioh player would laugh in your face.>Zamn, you had an Ash Blossom in your hand?! I didn't expect that, what a masterful play!El em ay oh.

>>97920948Purple can do anything it has no specific mechanic other than Don- and ramp shit, to be honest it shouldnt fucking exist
>>97920891Yugioh players have baits for hand traps to continue their deck vomit. Yugioh is basically two algorithms trying to fuck over the other.
>>97920037>>97919933sick, these are three of the better acgs. TC may huff their own fumes but whatever else there doing they like games for being good games. alpha clash is pretty uninspired, but at least it's got solid balance.
>>97920891>>97919018good-feeling reacts is all about having to project what the opponent is doing ahead of time and commit something to setting up the interrupt. you get that "lucky to draw your out" feel when the player interrupting didn't have to consciously choose to set the trap. having to commit is also what makes it possible to bluff the trap. if there's no mindgames it's not fun.
>>97921086>>97920948>in a shocking twist, a bandai game is an unbalanced messwho could have possibly foreseen this outcome
>>97920948Yep. Bandai is always thinking about short-term profit instead of preserving its money maker
>>97921685>alpha clash is pretty uninspiredHonestly I think it could use more PVE modules to make it interesting. I'm not really liking it for PVP. Know which game does both really well? Ashes. Another one that Team C sucks off but rightfully so.
>>97921815Poorly designed regarding colors, OP should have been colorless and simply have a varierty of playstyles but Bandai are lazy shitty hacks that copy pastes DBS Masters and said look its a new card game.

>>97914689It tends to be more cancerous than not. The way Bandai does it in OPTCG and LSS does it in FaB is fine though. Very minimal in feature, but it can be devastating in consequence for the player doing it.
>>97927635Don't make me tap the frostbite
>>97928002Fair enough, I was thinking of the Block mechanic in FaB. The wizard and elemental stuff there is pretty cancerous.
>>97928084It's only the third worst hero card they've ever printed. But yeah shit like this betrays the established you go, I go interactions. Every piece of shit broken hero ignores the design philosophy of the game so they can be an outlier and respected for it. I spit on fab's dev team, they don't know what they want anymore.
>>97928245They like shiny cards, so they keep making elemental shit because the art for that is shinier than the art for non-elemental stuff. They are simple people.
Test foils have arrived. This particular pattern is very overpowering and I will definitely try the hot/cold foil for the next sample order

Duel Masters is the most overrated game on this thread
Is the new MLP game good? Apparently its selling like hotcakes at one of my LGS. I didn't know people even cared about the franchise still.
>>97922531>alpha clash PVEthat's the most unique thing it has going. post-duelma magic clones are dime a dozen. just being a good version of mtg is not enough to make a game worth looking at in the 2020s. but the field for games with both pvp and pve is small so there's less competition.>Ashes. Another one that Team C sucks offthey could afford to suck it off more. strong contender for best game in their lineup. old now though, so it doesnt get hyped.
>>97929475There's a new one now? I remember picking up a few packs when the first one came out. Seemed like it had potential, but I didn't have any brony friends at the time. I'd be interested to see how it plays.

>>97929676I mean they helped save it and they made custom tokens and mats for Ashes, so you can't say it didn't have its moment in the sun.
>>97929683>>97929475Someone posted a Japanese tutorial a while ago. It seems neat gameplay wise, but it's mainly selling because just as with their collectable cards the Chinese knocked it out of the park with visual quality.
Looks like the next EBG project isn't another card game but is instead a board game. Reading between the lines makes me think they will focus down on Aidalon and Rangers as their two card games while they explore some other genres. They're building the business laterally rather than focusing only on one thing. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
every single new tcg with an ip attached to it or some clout ends up selling like hotcakes for the first set/kickstarter promos. doesn't mean anything...
>>97930262this franchise has been whored out to so many tcgs at this point

I'm trying to find a TCG/CCG to get into but I'd rather start digital. Anyone got any recs? I appreciate that it may be bigger games that have digital set ups so happy to get those too.
>>97932360Yugioh has the best sims for some reason. Master Duel is offical, Edopro can run on toasters, Omega has ranked ladder and you can join tournaments within the app itself, MDPro is a Ygopro fork based on Master Duel, DuelingBook is manual.
>>97931355>umas getting whored outHnngh
>>97932360there's this weird valley with digital clients. the big ones turn it into a whole separate business (ygo, mtga). the small indy games are are community driven. it's the games in the middle that often don't because they shut down community made stuff but also fail to replace it with anything good of their own.I think about 80% of the games in the OP have a decent client last time we surveyed.
>>97932360Most games with a competetive scene worth half a shit have at least a fan-made simulator. Literally just pick a game and keep searching. The OP pastebins have, among a million other things, links for that too.If you're into coomer games, you'll probably have less luck though.

Aside from that, best help I can give is to look at how the others are doing things and see where you can improve. Chocolat's been doing more deck profile videos so you might wanna look at those.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tcMvNSanCs
>>97948894Be realistic about the views you can ever acquire. Imagine the absolute total possible amount of people who are involved with hololive ocg enough to subscribe to a channel dedicated to to watch deck tech and tutorial vods (and also share your native language.) >>97949414>>97949499Sorry I should clarify, I'm not trying to become a big youtuber to become famous or anything. I just want to make a nice channel to promote the game in my area and get people interested/let them know the game is played/how it's played and so on.I enjoy Chocolat's vids and been using his decklists since forever. >>97951114>dragonshieldI actually did get him some Dragonshields for a different game, but he does have a touch of the 'tism (high functioning), and claimed that he didn't like the way they felt, so I didn't bother fighting with him about it. He didn't mind the Robin Hood ones, tho.
>>97951178>he didn't like the way they feltHe's right in a way since DS sleeves are known for their durability rather than shuffle feel. A different brand of outer matte sleeves would definitely work as well; the DS ones just came to mind first.
>>97951016top is the legendbottom is the chosen champion
>>97951252Gotcha, I'm just not spending more money on sleeves for him to find the ones that 'feel right', y'know? He's an adult, if he cares that much, he can do the research, right? There's plenty of other gifts I can give instead. Anyhow, that's neither here nor there. I hope your Gothel collection goes well. Do you have any interest in playing the game at all? I've never tried to cook up a Gothel themed deck before, so I wonder if it could be done.
Wixoss is fun but the flavor is rancid, I'm not an anime hater but just cute girls and nothing else is boring as fuck. Also collabs suck. Someone should make a wixoss clone with good fluff
>>97951667>Do you have any interest in playing the game at all?Not at the moment but I guess I'll check out some videos to learn how to play the game at the very least.
>>97951821Cool. Always nice to have another Lorcana player around, so I hope you enjoy it.
>>97950321>Annie in top 2>Sett in top 8NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don’t you dare show Annie sneaking into top 8, that completely ruins the carefully curated “it’s only Draven” storyline the Riot/Riftbound haters have been clinging to quick, delete this!!!
>>97951744Gay
Can I get a sense of how riftbound is doing? The gameplay seemed a little convoluted and I heard there was some controversy regarding erratas.Did they managed to work out those kinks? Is the game not as awkward to play as initially assumed? Was the first person wording a nothingburger?
>>97952700First person is a horribly retarded choice and actively annoys me when I see the cards.
>>97952700The gameplay is great and I've never had any issues with erratas or the wording on cards.
>>97952700Riftbound is doing well and has a strong player base. A lot of the criticism comes from people who don't actually play the game and most of them are just bootyblasted Riot haters coming from League or some other shitty moba game.
>>97952700it is successful, regardless of what you think about the IP nepotism Gameplay is fine, battlefields are different and funFirst oerson wording is nothingburger, it may trigger autism but saves a lot of space in textboxes
>>97952700I can see how it might seem a little convoluted from the outside but it's pretty simple once you start playing. There are a lot of small things that I think a lot of players haven't really caught onto yet though. Stuff like even points being far more important than odd points and optimal attacking/unit positioning
>>97952700do not ask the astroturfed riot good fab bad thread if riftbound is doing well.
>>97950732No it's a supplemental product tied to Set 20 as opposed to the standalone product featuring so and so heroes labeled "Chapters" so far. Expect it to be similar to blitz decks from now on, tied to the current set so they can get around the promise to not ban a card from a standalone product for 1 season like with the Kayo deck from Chapter 1.>>97949314ouch, shame but better than a once yearly set I suppose. Downside to a slower release schedule.
It's so over for FABGOTS!
>>97952700It's successful in the same way SWU was successful. Most events I've been to have been filled with low-IQ tards and the game will probably be dead in ~1 year but shamble on for longer
Hey man Lorcana is higher rated than FaB in the top 10 but we all know how shit Lorcana currently is kek.
>>97955889Lorcana anon here. What's so shit about it? Whispers in the Well was cool, Winterspell brought us some crazy powerful Emerald/Sapphire cards, and the upcoming Wilds Unknown seems good from the reveals I've seen so far. Genuine question, where's the beef?
>>97955889A lot of Disney-adults collect Lorcana, but have no idea how to even play the game. It's similar to the Pokémon TCG in that regard.
>>97955457For all its failings, SWUs gameplay and community are a few orders better than riftbounds. the SWU criticisms were more to do with the shitty art, underpowered expansions and business decisions.>>97955889you just said yourself FaB is in there too. which is basically the same boat as SWU, solid core game, great at launch, but with a publisher that's determined to drive it into the ground.
Biggest mistake LSS could make with sage is treating it as some sort of 'on boarding' towards CC.If some people 'graduate' to CC, fine. But I have zero interest in participating in Fab proper, not with those prices. Try to hoodwink or ease people into CC will just turn players like me off.Now if they actually make drastic changes to bring prices in CC down we can talk. But we all know they don't have the balls for that.
Biggest mistake LSS could make is continue printing FaB.
>>97939592A true disciple of Street Fighter's Hakan.
>>97955889meh lorcana was meant to be a casual game. that's why incentive for local attendance and tournament participation will remain shit.
Anyone play competitive One Piece TCG?I've heard the prize pool is insane, can anyone verify/explain how getting into big tournaments works?
>>97958438No hope for you bro don't even try.
>>97958476What do you mean?
>>97958479It will be like trying to buy the latest shilled Pokemon set. The tournaments are capped and you will get mogged by bots at the register page. Your deck will also be insane in terms of price it will cost you to build it.
>thinking to trying out fab through sage>there are common cards that are sold out everywhereIs sage that popular or has fab supply always been such that even commons can have stock issues?
>>97959061Which commons, what set we talking about? I saw a box price chart that placed HISTORY PACK 1 at the lead from a significant margin over current sets. My guess is the commons, staple rares and majestics along with relevant legendaries save for a few combined with the fact that they didn't over print that set are all large factors.
>>97959241Arcane polarity (r).
>>97959308The entire rose set is wickedly over tuned. I'm shocked to see that card push 4 bucks, but I knew 1 for 4 was crazy back then.
>>97956188NTA, but I think I wrote Lorcana's current issues in a previous thread. I'm too lazy to find it, tho. If I didn't, I might have become a schizo
>>97959886I may be getting old and losing my memory, but I'm afraid I don't recall. I think I remember one anon complaining that he couldn't build a themed deck, which I suppose is a fair complaint, was that you, maybe?
>>97959911That was one of my points. To sum it up, Havensburg doesn't decide if it wants to pander to casual or competitive players. The company tries to pander to both at the same time but fails horrendously. The IP is one of the most recognized worldwide, and the gameplay is good, but they aren't taking advantage of these as much as they could, imo.
>>97959958Riiight, I remember now. I think you make a fair enough complaint, but I still personally get a lot out of the game.
>>97958769it does sound like they sell out in 2-5 minutes, how do you even find the timings for these things to go live?spending $200-$400 on a top tier deck probably isn't terrible EV if the prizing is as big as I've heard, assuming meta decks don't lose most of their value whenever a set rotates (would love to hear whether or not that is the case)
Hey I'm looking for a good side game and I'm considering trying Gundam. Is there a cheap deck I can build to get me started? SEED is my favorite gundam series so anything related to that would be cool or just whatever deck is cheapest.
I didn't think we'd see a SEC beat out Suisei's in pricing, even accounting for EN fanbases.
>>97961725Probably just market manip with tiny playerbases and buyer base like hololive tcg EN. JP side probably has more realistic prices.
>>97958769>Your deck will also be insane in terms of price it will cost you to build it. Not true at all.
>>97961259Try to look for the starter decks if they're available anywhere, there's one for SEED too I think. There's also the free app to try out the game first if you haven't already
Will EXP become broken in Riftbound?
So, what's the MSRP of a OP booster box.My local TCG scene is dead unless I get into alternative MTG formats, YGO is dogshit, pokemon is dogshit to get packs for, lorcana doesn't fire off around me unless it's a special event, I hear OP has some challenges same way but I at least see packs on shelves and it's popular/seeing tournies. So I kinda want to get into it, but I'm not overpaying for shit, I was seeing boxes for 200 USD and no fucking way boxes are legitimately going for that.
>>97964356MSRP is 120 per box, but demand is so high that a lot of stores just jack up the price since people still buy them at the inflated prices. My LGS sells me the boxes at the "real" MSRP but that's because they know me since I go there every week, without that I'd have to pay the inflated market prices.
>>97964462Fucking unfortunate. Logan Paul did more damage to this hobby than he's done to his opponents in the boxing ring.
anyone who plays weiss, are trial decks the best way to learn how to play the game
Are there anyone here that cares / knows about indie chinese tcg??This one by xinglingwang_tcg seems cute, but I cant find lot of info on it
AIEEEEEEEEEEE
>>97965740is Gundam expensive?I see a Gundam weeklies next to the OPTCG weeklies when I go to FNM but it seems to get like half the crowd of OP.
>>97966327>is Gundam expensive?if you're going after the alt arts of the chase cards then yes. Otherwise it's mostly fine.
>>97964520They're simple and teach you how to play yes. If you end up playing long term starter decks can still be good if there's starter deck only cards used for the series meta deck you're playing. But idk what's meta these days, I remember the 7ds/hololive set 1 meta a few years back
>>97964356OPTCG has serious supply problems because the game has exploded in popularity in the past year. MSRP doesn't apply to it right now. You should feel lucky to get even the inflated price for products. In my LGS OP tournaments are on hold indefinitely until there will be literally any amount of supply for them at all.
>>97966935funnily my city looks like one of the best places in the west for One Piece tournaments but I'm skeptical about getting into the game because a new set is coming out soon and it sounds like that means Bandai rotating your $300 meta deck into worthlessness.
Crazy because OP is such a boring ass game.
>>97966935>You should feel lucky to get even the inflated price for productslmfao kys
>>97966935Are OP fans as cucked as Pokemon fans? Lmaooo
>>97967094Pokemon is literally the cheapest TCG to play competitively.
>>97962300JP prices are more reasonable in general since product over there is cheaper overall and they just recently announced reprints of every previous set except 5. Thankfully from set 6 on we'll see box prices drop like 12 bucks.
Would you prefer starter decks that have the max number of a smaller variety of cards, or half the max and a larger variety
>>97967851Probably somewhere in between. They should be good but not maximally optimized, leaving room for improvement and customization. But the most important thing is just that they're fun.
>>97967865>>97967851I don't play too many other games but they Advanced Starter Decks in Digimon have been the perfect balance. Competitive viability out of the box but with room for improvement. Sakuyamon released in December and is still pretty viable.
finally gettin some ashes spoilers for the new set>plaidhatgames.com/news/2026/04/30/natural-magic-expansion-preview-1/>Maeve + Snapseedmore artifice bullshit. the new conjuration looks a lot like another indiglow creeper. starts cheap and small, put more energy in it grows. they dont tell us yet what Floral Tyrant is or what maeve's unique is so cant pass judgement.>Kana + Hurricanea free dig for spells every round is good. a super expensive spell that tries to do 10 different things at once seems kinda crap. the OTHER two spells look good though. searing bolt is just fast efficient unit deletion. puncturing wind is an assassination card. they both fuck.
>>97968199>Photovoltaicsfinally get some fucking artifice cheating. much needed for the engine. Issa decks are gonna love this shit for both the fixing and the die bounce.>Botanistweird fit for the deck from what we've seen, but this is a good ally. stats on curve and hands out free buffs.the whole maeve deck is looking like slow build engine. make plant creatures then make them bigger, eventually stomp face. everything we've seen is sloooow but efficient. it will all work good with issa shit like thunder hulk and supplier. maybe drones to protect the plants while they grow. photovoltaics is going in every deck with core supplier until there's more ways to double dip on gears.
>>97968199>Galewind Hawkbest card in the set shown so far. little bird is a fucking monster. 2 cost 2/2 is basic, but frog ping on the attack or armor up to trade, and you get to decide every time. Arren is going to fucking love this shit for the astral armor main action and then immediately throw the air spear in the same turn. I'm putting this in every fucking deck for a while. only problem is the 2-color cost limits what it will run with.>Tailwindpotential freebie attack buff, but very hard to sequence. that probably means its shit.this is the kind of card that lets you win the game if your opponent lets you, but when the fuck is your opponent going to give you the chance to set up unless you're winning already.ability to take more side actions is cool bbut this deck is gonna be starved for sides. all the spells shows, puncturing wind, searing bolt, hurricane, are all side actions. hopefully more ways to push main in the rest of the set.
I wish they'd just release a board wipe in Gundam in GD05, would cripple both aggro and blocker heavy decks. Solves both problems.
Keyforge isn't dead yet! 5 months of waiting but it is finally here.
Can't believe I bought Riftbound starter decks only to find they're worth nothing.
>>97969614Here are the preview cards from stretch rewards for any interested anons. I will maybe post later how the dragonscale cards look, but I am saving the decks to open them later with friends.
>>97966327Gundam is cheap immo. I got two copies of each deck for 15€ each, the most expensive card is like barbatos first form and is 15€ each, but was like at 10€ at some point. The One Year War and the BluePurple Barbatos decks who perform pretty great are like 50 bucks each.Noooow, if you want alter art cards, some of them are expensive as fuck. This one >>97965740 costs like 5 bucks, but the ghost alter is as you see 760. For example I have 8 Aile strikes, must be like 4€ each, but the other day got a SP of the same card, 110€, and is the same card, just different art.
>>97969616Who cares?Play the game.

>>97970034What i want to now are what the best red rains bosses are. I cant buy all of them, but if i could get two, which?I already have corpse of viros
>>97971906It wouldn't be expensive if retards you like weren't in it.
>>97972448For the most variety, Siege of Lordwall and Blight of Neverwhatever. Corpse is a big beater, Siege is a wide horde rush, Blight is burn/mill. All different gameplay styles to face like fighting human opponent. If you want hard mode, go for Scourge and End of Argaia. They're more similar to Corpse, but with the difficulty meter set to "Hardcore" and "Fuck You With A Spiked Dildo" respectively.
>>97972060Investorfags are all over the place. Not gonna lie, they were always in the TCG game anyways. I had a bunch friends from elementary school that were worm brained like this. All they would do is flex the wealth of their trade binders for YGO. They would never use the cards for the game, nor did they have any interest in running the decks. It was purely just about value. Just little lemmings who sit around saying 'Yeah well I got useless shit that's worth 20k!' thinking it's an accomplishment and pretending this shit has any value. It's just a loser mindset.
>>97968199Never looked into Ashes before but I do like living plant monsters. Might have to pick up some of this Maeve stuff. Are new releases immediately available for PoD? or should I just pick up this nature expansion thing when it comes out?
>>97972060bro ga capstone set (anniversary set basically) got hit by investorfaggotry too. it has the same print run as other recent sets yet it's somehow out of stock everywhere with not enough cards flowing in the aftermarket. people buying cases to hoard. it's just fucked up.
How do you avoid investors from hoarding cards and stagnating a new games player base? Current solution I can think of is to self distribute and limit it to stores that have registered with you
>>97972980This past round went up on pod pretty much immediately, so probably the same. If you're gonna pod just do it for everything, the card stock is a little different between the mass produced and pod.can try without buying now. there's print and play decks on the DB site, and an app that handles dice/tokens. or just play on ashteki.
>>97973422Which do you feel is the better card stock?
>>97973358Print to demand, like Ravensburger and FFG have been doing, does have a significant impact on he scalpability of your product. One that's not printing shit to demand is advertising to the free market to name their own price.
>>97973358There is only one way to stop scalpers and it's to criminalize the behavior. It's the only thing that stopped TP scalpers during the covid scare era. That and not dogshit distribution verification. There is so much fraud where scalpers were pretend to be an LGS, take pics of existing stores, claim them as their own and put in a bullshit address. And it just works, distributors verification is dogshit and they don't want to spend the money on people showing up to these game stores they distribute to and see if they are legit/holding legit events.
>>97973489the retail versions are thicker. but getting a complete collection now would be a pain in the dick because half of it is oop and only on POD.>>97973358>>97974067literally just print enough. that's it, that's the whole secret. scalpers cant do their thing if there's product on shelves, they just end up losing money.>but muh collectibility and reprint policiesthat only exists to drive up secondary market value and create fomo. if a game has a scalping problem, it's because the publisher wants it that way. if they didnt, they'd just print enough. shit's not complicated.
>>97974060How is that done? I have heard that printing is done more than 6 months before release. How are some games able to do print on demand?
>>97974171different printers have different lead times. 6 months would be pretty high for cards. 2 to 4 is more typical. but doesnt really answer>how do you print to demandyou take preorders, and then pad out the production quantity by a % based on historical purchasing. ship your preorders first and sell whatever's left over. if it sells out you remind people to preorder next time and then you'll print more. not complicated.
>>97974060>>97974171this is print TO demand with preordering or crowdfunding.print on demand is different, that's when you literally custom print each customer's order only after it's purchased. usually longer delivery times and higher costs, but you never print anything you haven't already sold.
>>97974162They didn't print enough cause they don't have the ability to print enough. There are some cases where they underprint, but for example pokemon? They can't keep up. They are finally building a new MFG facility to try to surpass demand but that shit isn't fully operational until 2027.It's not like there's a massive MFG market for cards.
Also fact of the matter is printers are in high demand and the smaller you are the worse off you are. As anon said, pokemon struggles with it. Bandai struggles with it hard in general, they don't have the printers to overprint product. At some point it does become negligence when Bandai could've expanded since the 2020s but haven't because they are greedy jews but smaller tcgs have even less opportunity to fight scalping. One last thing, if you do overprint and print to death like YGO does and nobody buys it, stores just drop your product.
So, is there any way this isn't an absolute fucking pisstake? It really seems like LSS are actively mocking their players.
>>97974344here's an insane idea/ just do another run of the set that sold out in 3 seconds.the only reason they don't is fomo
>>97974530You don't understand, Aurora NEEDS her own special c&c or else people will not be excited to buy the next set and fight for the singles. It's her time (again) to warp the meta around her skinny jeans until she gets ridden so hard by everyone dogpiling her that she takes a paid vacation (again) until they design her next and final form.
>>97975067Unless they own printers like pokeymans doing another run will have to be scheduled months down the line. And they do happen, later.
>>97974530The timing of quickstrike is fucking stupid. You can reaction/ instant speed trigger it but you only get the "when attacks do damage" part of it if you load goagain as you're playing it. Guess how many fuck sticks will argue this wrong in tournaments?I hate card design like this
>>97974530Cool do they want to make runeblades even more insufferable with free split damage AND forced discard. Neat. Fuck you.
Forgot to post it when it happened but the first set of Battle Spirits' new format released in April: https://www.battlespirits.com/product/booster/booster-26rbs01.phphttps://battle-spirits.fandom.com/wiki/26RBS01Some cool art but the designs are pretty conservative. I get they are trying to scale back the game's power level but it's weird going from Master Rares that have four paragraphs of chained effects to Master Rares that just say "Destroy X BP Spirits". Core management is also WAY less involved and interesting with this new format.
>>97977058I wish ygo did this
>>97977058Are they going to print for the new format concurrently with the old one? I still see some spoilers for cards with the old format on their twitter, don't know if that'll be the last set for it or not though
>>97975750You're the retard who doesn't know how things work.To get the quickstrike plus power and arcane it has to have go again before the attack step. 99% of relevant gain GA effects you can play, activate, or prep to trigger are before this. What, mad you can't pop a lightning amulet in the damage step and juice a discard or some dumb shit? It even gets the +1 power if you do it during reaction step just the arcane is missed.Card is busted and the ea cf's will be over $120
Why the hell can you not mix sets in Union Arena? Why the fuck would you make a card game where every new IP is a fucking new card game?
why did they give the professor his own fucking card if he's not going to make flesh and blood videos. it should have been me.
Weiss Schwarz icks me from its gameplay its just so much junk stacked into one game that it repulses meL
>>97974193This is acg, nobody is talking about pokemon. yes, certain acgs chronically under print to generate hype. yes, that means they get scalped. yes, the publishers could easily fix this if they wanted. no they're not going to and no they don't care. if an acg is getting fucked over with scalpers, it's only because fucking over players is the publishers intention.
>>97979375We are talking about scalpers and card game companies inability to keep up with production.Yes, part of a design is intended scarcity, if they overprinted rare cards, there would be no reason for a rarity system. But the solution isn't to overproduce, and production lead times are several months if not longer. They can't go back half a year later, and tell them to stop their current printing project for another client to print more of their shit because scalpers raped their availability. It isn't as simple as a few week turn around to get out more product.I used pokemon as an example because they are the ones getting seriously fucked by scalpers, and even a multi billion dollar company can't keep up. What makes you think no name studios are going to keep up?And even if they walked back and started running several more printings of a set scalpers are fucking, it throws off their lead times on new sets and products all to hope the scalpers stop spending, so it's available to the masses, before the masses get fed up with non-existent availability and stop playing all together. So now their future is defunct because scalpers only wanted it to scalp, and the players fucked off to another game with more readily available stock.MTG and YGO don't have these problems because both of their games are in such an abysmal unplayable state, that the demand isn't there from players.
>>97979418If you think the demand for mtg and yuhioh is lower than for acgs you are out of your fucking mind. some acgs have scalper problems and some don't. It's not hard to see the patterns. You can play defense force if you like, but for the rest of us we'll treat their presence as the big fucking red flag that it always is.
>>97979473Their presence is a big red flag, I think they are the major problem with any card games availability at the moment. And I think the blame is solely on them and not MFG though.
I'm someone making a tcg. My current plan is to get the cards ordered in bulk and do all the packaging in house. I figure if the game isn't small enough to get national fame I shouldn't need to outsource that part of the process. Along with a direct to store approach I hope I could avoid issues with scalping while also being able to scale the operation up as necessary.Currently for a basic organized play kit I'm thinking something as simple as 8 basic play cards, and gold/silver/foil versions for the top players. I think if something like shard bugs or gem blenders can find an audience there's one out there for tycoon style competitive capitalism skinned drag race
