>level 99 Warrior in DND
>literally God, can fight 10,000 professional veteran Archers with no shield in Melee and win with basically no damage

>level 99 Warrior in real life (Emperor Richard Lionheart)
>gets 1shot by Peasant who lifted a xbow for 1st time

Why can't DND do realistic level 99?
>>
>>97920209
Well for one DnD doesn't go up to level twenty, and ontop of that king in dnd would actually just be a sixth level fighter. If you want realism you probably wanna play Gurps or Harnmaster

>in dnd would actually just be a sixth level fighter

He was literally the world's strongest Warrior in Medieval Europe, basically equal to Charlemagne.
>>
>>97920209
Which edition has 99 levels?
>>
>>97921010
Not that OP the Gaylord knows this but 1e and 2e D&D had no real level cap. H4 - Throne of Bloodstone covered levels 18 to 100. 3e also had epic levels but nothing really made use of them outside the video game Neverwinter Nights.
>>
>>97920405
Doubtful, but also strongest guy IRL would be fairly low-level in DnD.
>>
>>97920405
are you fucking stupid? irl commanding thousands of men does absolutely fucking nothing to make you yourself better at fighting. Neither Charlemagne or Richard were that good at fighting, they were good at telling other people how to fight.
>>
>>97920209
Because there are no levels in real life? You can't boost your power to invincible magnitudes like DBZ?
>>
>>97920209
>>level 99 Spam Poster in DND
>>literally God, can out-discuss 10,000 professional veteran repliers and win with basically no damage to his ego and sexual confidence.
>>level 99 spamposter in real life (Op)
>>gets 1 shot by the first reply to his stupid thread who lifted a keyboard for 1st time
Why can't real life spam posters do realistic and engaging level 99 threads?
>>
>>97920209
>gets 1shot by Peasant who lifted a xbow for 1st time
Should've been wearing platestation 5 armour
>>
>>97921171
but where's the games?
>>
>>97920209
1) High level was considered 7+ in the old days
2) He lowered his defenses so it was a called shot with auto critical damage
>>
>>97920405
>worlds strongest warrior
>has to travel in disguise on his return through europe, gets captured by some random duke anyhow and kept in chains for years until his brother(ironically considered a villain for this lmao) coughs up a ransom of 20 tons of silver

"Lionheart" is the biggest anglo scam of history and never achieved anything of note.
>>
>>97920209
1. The strongest most badass real human warriors would probably still only be like level 5-10 in DnD terms. At 10 you’re a superhero and at 20 you’re a demigod
2. Think of that arrow as basically a crit IRL, like Achilles getting shot in the heel. A crit rogue sneak attack could definitely kill a level 5 adventurer

Eh, he disembarked first off his ship during the siege of Jaffa, ahead of his men, in only his shirt and sea-boots, and the Arabs record that they were stunned by his boldness.
He was a brave soldier, but an indifferent king.
>>
>>97921679
The Arabs were stunned by how much of a fucking retard he was I'm sure

Actually, they praised his élan, and regretted that he was not a Muslim, in much the same way the Christians praised Saladin.
Because in those times, men wert overall less wretched than thou.

>strongest Warrior in Medieval Europe
read about some IIRC Hungarian guy that after battle for fun danced with dead Turk held with his teeth only
>>
>>97920209
>level 99 Warrior in real life (Emperor Richard Lionheart)

No such thing. All real humans who have ever lived or ever will live are level 0 peasants.
>>
>>97929648
Sound like you got skill issues, noob.
>>
>>97920209

Because dnd was never realistic
>>
>>97920209
I honestly wish there was a TTRPG system that had a non-bloated combat system that gave good back and forth melee combat that was also not so HP bloated either.
>>
Why would you want to play an RPG where a single arrow ends your campaign? It sounds cool and realistic, but it also means that the entire process of creating your character, learning how he fits into the story, and giving him a motivation to see it through is nearly pointless.

There is a spike of dopamine in playing games of high risk. That's why the survival genre in general is so massively popular.
>>
>>97934526
Survival and difficult games aren't usually one-shot-kill games, though. Like, imagine Touhou, but every time you get hit you have to download the entire game again. It's merely a thing that sounds cool, but isn't in practise.

Richard survived the crossbow bolt just fine, and even has the kid who shot him brought before him after they captured the castle (there were only two knights defending it which is why Richard let his guard down so much he could get shot unarmored, it was basically a formality), it's that he later caught gangrene and died of infection.

In D&D and basically every other fantasy game like it, even Warhammer Fantasy, medical treatment is infinitely superior to real-world medicine and player characters are never at risk of disease or infection because folk remedies and alchemy and herbal poultices are literally better than real-world surgery and tissue grafts at healing, let alone ACTUAL healing magic and potions which a fucking king of a major nation easily has access to in however much he wants.

5e doesn't even have rules for infection and gangrene but in the editions that do, a low level Paladin can literally fix it with a wave of his hand.

>>97921730
Nah they actually liked him a lot, Saladin had a ton of respect for him as well.
At one point there were actually plans for Saladin and Richard to have their relatives marry each other and rule the Holy Land together as a joint kingdom but the Pope threatened to excommunicate Richard if he went through with it. It's honestly one of my favorite alt-history hypotheticals if Saladin and Richard became brothers-in-law and united the holy land under them just because so much subsequent history would be different. Would make for a good movie

Who tf calls a crossbow an xbow

>>97934919
It's probably a Twitter or texting thing, saves characters.

A max level Fighter can only beat up like 500+ peasants.

The question is how they can fight with hordes of people and bears and giant monsters at all without being superhumanly strong or fast. They would get crushed in an instant.
>>
>>97920333
>and ontop of that king in dnd would actually just be a sixth level fighter.

According to the online battle simulator I'm using, a level 6 fighter can reliably beat 2 allosauruses in melee, or 1 ankylosaurus most of the time. I'd like to see King Dick do that.

no he wasn't. many leaders were said to be super strong fighters because it inspired and encouraged their men and made them look more worthy and capable
