I think it SUCKS!

Doesn't seem like anything /tg/ would like at all, so expect sperging itt if it lives
I, however, am fascinated by the existence of another xianxia styled SEA fantasy setting. The first one being Gubat Banwa, so try that out if that interests you. Also reminds me of A Thousand Thousands Islands, but that's a system neutral setting and I think less wuxia. Might give it a shot I dunno

The only nice thing I can say about it is that it's not built on PBTA, FITD, or any of the other hipster bullshit non-systems, so that instantly puts it in the top 10% of indie RPGs in the world.

Are we just slapping any old adjective on things these days?

I think this post is advertising or begging.

at a glance it looks like a SJW game (that's a shame)
now that the world has some real problems SJW culture war shit is out of the window and has lost all relevancy (both camps), if you still cling to culture wars you are 2010s.
The game is a decade late
dead on arrival

You can tell that they wanted to do a mork borg photobashing thing, with aggressive colors and clashing aesthetics. It does not look good. Ever.

It's like making instruction manuals unreadable but pretty, completely missing the point.
Of course, the actual real point of X Borg wasn't to be played, but to be DISplayed so they did actually succeed at their goal.

I've toyed with running a Phillippines-style setting for a while. Maybe I'll give these a look.
Thanks anon.

I unironically feel like SEA stuff (especially made by men) only gets published if it's at least somewhat gay. It's the same in the publishing world.
Pic related was a really cool novel with an awesome world but throws a gay romance in haphazardly for no real reason. I think that was literally to make the progressive shrews who gatekeep that world give it a fucking chance.
They literally only tolerate a story or setting with browns if there's faggotry. Otherwise they'll pass it over for the next romantasy schlock, anything written by a black woman, or some other (gayer) thing

This was also the dev for Gubat Banwa, then something happened between him and th studio and they split.

You'd unironically be correct. "Queering" history and foreign cultures so they can be recast as places where everyone was always gay and trans and had a dozen extra genders, even though the actual culture only had derogatory nicknames for gays, eunuchs, and harem sex slaves, at best. Directly telling these other cultures that they only have value to the west if they can be molded into gay little minstrel shows.

Things like this make me think colonialism didn't go far enough.

More like the people who happen to be for LGBTQ are also the only ones who give a shit about these other cultures. Since when has any work that draws from a particular culture have to be all encompassing of it? Specially non-historical focused ones with fantasy elements, lmao.
Even works centred on one's own culture tend to focus on specific places, people, periods and through a filtered lens. Historical ones come to mind as well, unfortunately.

That said, it is annoying to see people reinterpret social role and gender nuances as "trans" whenever there is a third gender or the sort.

This. Progressives (and Neoliberals in general) have zero theory of mind. They have to somersault over themselves to make cultures of the past map onto the present.
This is obvious on how they handle anything relating to daily life - religion, home life, work, etc. - it all ends up being Toronto with a coat of fantasy / historical paint.

Half right. In the case of book publishing, faggots rule the roost. They don't actually care about the culture. They only see other cultures as a sort of superficial themepark attraction. However, [foreign culture] + [queer] is a winning formula for gaining their attention and getting a book published.

ding ding ding
TTRPGs are - admittedly, gratefully - slightly less uniform in this
