If I wanted noble heroes fighting against a corrupt regime I wouldn't play the faction that has "lost and the damned" and "slaves to darkness" as its most iconic titles. Abaddon is the strongest Chaos Space Marine, he's one of the most powerful forces of the setting and even in his power and glory he is as corrupted as the lowliest chaos spawn, his mind simply refuse to accept that. That's what the leader of the CHAOS faction should be. Doing otherwise is like having an Eldar be the Tau leader.
