I'm working on Salamanders force right now and will have some Custodes for allies. The Custodes are going to be all nmm. Haven't done nmm as part of a scheme before though, just on characters. Will it look jarring if I am lazy and do true metallics for the Salamanders? Especially for pauldron trim, doing nmm on a ton of tacticals / etc seems daunting.

See, I disagree with this hard. Soul Hunter was kino, but Blood Reaver was slop. Void Stalker's best part is a billion Ultras raping the Night Lords.

Thanks, Anons. I was thinking of just using my custom chapter colors, as they showed up end of Heresy/Scouring-era in the fluff I wrote for them. I had an idea that doing so would be alright, but thought I would check here considering that Heresy seems to be more narrative driven and similar to historical wargaming in practice. Now to get a bunch of Tacticals and Inductii painted up.

they were really well versed in the full gamut of astartes warfare but had a predilection for up the center spearhead shit, you can run effectively whatever you like, and a sweeping gamut of stuff is very emblematic for them. all sorts of toys levelled at once, but keep in mind the preference for seriously driving assaults. there should be at least a contingent of your force pretty given over to getting stuck the fuck in and brutalizing whatever they can.

SoH's main gimmick is abusing the fact their legion trait turns volley fire and gun them down into extra shooting phases. Anything with Implacable Advance or weapons with the assault trait are particularly nasty with SoH.

>>
>>97936536
there are a number of ways to go. dreadnoughts and treaded vehicles are big favorites of theirs though, and they wield flyers very adeptly too, centering things around a big ole tank would be a cool accent
you might consider a medusan immortal horde as an alternate flavor outright
all manner of infantry otherwise are well at home with them, they held terminator plate in high regard by my reading atop bulk power armour teams. a very well rounded legion in their capacities but their various formations would compete with one another in the field for the primarch's favor. they're quite brutal in underlying character. dishonor was castigated severely and failure rarely tolerated.

leave ferrus at home unless you're doing his immediate formation when he went down on istvaan v as a theme, bro died

You can take the oath Panoply of Old (Imperial Fists) for Vigil Storm Shields on your Cataphractii Command squad, which would also leave it possible to get Solarite fists on some of your models. But a full squad with the latter would require Huscarls.
>>
>>97937238
Oh that is realy cool. Thank you for the help. I don't want to run a IF, but with X unit. I am going , which I hope isn't breaking the lore, a multi legion force. With line troopers and "bodyguard" squads being from same chapter, but "specialists" being created from mixed squads. I imagine them being part of a terran born honor guard of some place, that suddenly get thrown in to a war they don't want or even understand.

is there a reason why gorgon terminators look like indomitus armour?

It's fucking cool yo.
>>
>>97938309

>>
You know, why is Automata not just a subtype? So you could have Walker (Automata) for the bigger ones like domitars and thanatars and infantry (automata) for the smaller ones like castellax and scyllax. Came up in a convo about how it's silly that dreads count as their starting wounds for combat res purposes but not the much bigger thanatar, but making that rule apply yo all Automata would get very silly for castellax and vorax and mean you never outnumber them
>>
>>97938017
I always wanted to homebrew a chapter of JUST dreads. Like, maybe a few apothecarys/techmarines and some admin roles filled by humans, but every other brother interned into the box for eternity, maybe after some massive fuck up on their recruitment world or some shit went down.
>>
>>97938513
Thanatars shouldn't be in melee unlike other automata.
>>
>>97938511
Other way way around iirc.
Indominus became a stop gap terminator armor iirc, because it was easier to build then tartaros and cata. But inferior to both.
>>
>>97938511
Yes. Gorgon armor is an evolution of Indomitus that is supposed to have better performance but required bonding the wearer to the armor permanently.
>>
>>97938278
Ferrus was trying to improve terminator armour, gorgon terminator armour was like a first prototype iteration.
>>
>>97938278
it is indomitus armour, the STC was discovered around the same time tartaros was, but Ferrus was probably autistic about the shields being worse than cataphractii so wanted to design an overclocked energy shield for indomitus. The result was that the reactor was too big to be housed safely so it leaks radiation into the suit and slowly kills the user. The 'blind' thing is probably just the energy shield flaring because it barely functions without the giant reactor of cata suits, but IH bottoms will say it's intentional (like his metal hands he got by retardedly sticking his arms into a C'Tan shard and his strategy on Istvaan V lmao)
>>
>>97938789
Why are you making stuff up when the black books do have a description of what the armour did?
>>
>>97938801
not like Ferrus is around to say any different
>>
>>97938278
Ferrus didn't like any of the termie armours in service so he was testing around with improving them. Gorgons are the improved indomitus, like the rest of the prototypes he never managed to iron out the problems.

How come Forge World/GW never gave us Legion Chariots? I was looking through my big black HH splat books, and found this pic of a blood angels one (I swear there was an Emperors Children one as well in there somewhere but couldnt find it). I know the space yiffs got a chariot but its 40k trash (isnt it?) and looks gay as fuck. Going by the design of it, it looks like its just the "attack bike" equivalent of a jetbike, just with a platform on the back as opposed to a side car.
>>
>>97938857
Same reason they never gave us bullock pattern jetbikes I will NEVER forgive Bligh for pulling those retarded dildo jetbikes out of his ass instead, may he forever rot in his grave. A callous disregard of existing lore and artwork, if not genuine spite.

irl? because the alternative was making it look like Cata or Tartaros for HH, and potentially a recognition that existing IH players might like to use plastics as a base for conversion at a point in time when I think all the other terminators were still resin; IH had Immortals as well and there's a kind of pressure on IH players to include a lot of bionics make a bionics kit that fits the various tacticals GW I double dog dare you, so being able to occasionally convert is a help

in-universe? it kind of looks similar, but it's not that close either to the Indo terminators that went before or the kits that exist now; it has a few commonalities like the thigh reinforcement and the overall silhouette, but the pauldrons are layered in a way that Indo never has been (except for Naismith's 410610 prototype, which are also a different shape), the helmet is more like a sort of mk5 power armour, the tassets and groin guard are flexible, it lacks the heavy power cabling below the arms that Indo has and the back vents are completely different to Indo, Cata or Tartaros

There is no such thing. Mk5 is mark 5, and combined armor marks are combined armor marks.

To any extent really. There's a lot of examples of pads, helmets and extra armour plates from mkIII being used with more modern marks and that's one one that is supposedly not compatible so you might as well mix whatever you want.
It might be a bit weird if all your guys have mk3 bodies and mk4 helmets tho

Its me and like 3 guys at the LGS and a couple of friends who don't go to it holding it up. We're building our second table. Its perfect.
>>
>>97940819
We went from 0 active Heresy players to 3, with 1 mew guy joining soon, another trying it out, and another interested
>>
>>97940819
About the same as always, no one quit or anything from 3.0 and the people are having fun with armies new and old, same tranny waacfag being a problem. We did get two new players, one of which I'll be doing an intro game for tomorrow, off of the new 40k edition though lol.
>>
>>97940819
It's booming over here. Played weekly at the LGS, decent number of new players that joined, one campaign that just finished and people already asking when the next one is.

Well that is quite heartening to hear. From the outside looking in using stuff like youtube to gauge it looks grim. But that just says more about how the local scene is what matters most.

Good luck to you all, I hope your scenes continue to do well and expand with new players.

>From the outside looking in using stuff like youtube to gauge it looks grim
Idk, the youtube content for HH seems like the best its been, at least from a hobbying/actually playing the game perspective. Just going to enjoy it while its here, because it seems like its in a decent state right now. I wish the 40k guys well but it has not been looking great, and eventually HH won't be in good shape.

I don't think that's true anon.

>The designation 'Mark V' was a retrospective one intended to describe a broad class of ad hoc, ersatz and field-modified power armor that saw ever greater use as the Horus Heresy progressed due to the difficulty many Space Marine companies had in obtaining replacement suits for those irreperably damaged in battle. Many such suits were scavenged...
>>
>>97940862
Oh I am not at all a 40k guy. I am a Fantasy and MESBG guy. Who might expand into HH in a couple months (I am moving to a new country and it will depend on if I can find a lively local scene). I want HH to thrive. I don't like 40k or AoS.
>>
>>97940869
>I am a Fantasy and MESBG guy
Truly the best of us. Another local guy who is a kindred hobby chud is really into it and has been trying to get me to pick it up. When I'm finished with my Auxillia and my last Mordheim warband maybe. What legion/faction are you considering?
>>
>>97940875
I was considering Solar Auxilia. I really like their aesthetic. In terms of legions, I would have to do a lot more reading. But lore wise I really like Thousand Sons.
>>
>>97940819
Notable decline, picked back up a little bit, but not the same level of interest as 2.0 was.
I would say that the interesting from 2.0 to 3.0 dropped our group from 100% to like 30% maybe 40% of the people.
Then at this point its back up to like, 70% ish?
>>
>>97940856
Don't pay too much attention to online discourse. It's usually blown out of proportion, especially on sites like YT where people need to clickbait the fuck out of everything to survive.
The fact there are videos about HH shows how much it has grown. There weren't any videos you could find during 1.0, and during 2.0 it was still extremely niche.
>>
>>97940862
I've never understood using online discussion or YouTube to gauge the health of a game in YOUR local community. Like, you know those guys are literally taking out their ass or have their own circle of monetized piggies playing with them solely for the ad revenue right? They don't reflect any community at all, let alone your own. Best way to find out how the game is doing is to peek in your local's Facebook or discord or whatever and see who wants to play lol. It's not like a video game where you can play with anyone in the world at any time.

Spartan's probably the obvious choice because you need to get your Reavers/Justaerin into battle somehow and it's your only way to get volley attacks. IIRC none of your flyer transports have Assault Vehicle, so you lose volley attacks, and you outright cannot charge from Deep Strike.

>fluff
You're already set on the assault element of your army, so just put normal ranged stuff around them? Tacticals, HSS, tanks, shit like that.
>>
>>97940920
It’s just some extremely retarded anon. Anyone who thinks YouTube has a gauge on the hobby is completely out of touch unless it has hard numbers associated with it. The warhammer community is even more retarded about this than others because of how mentally ill the core base is, especially the “content” creators.

What's the appropriate amount of 2+ armour / anti 2+ armour units for 1k of zone mortalis.

I know I made a similar post last thread but I'm simply curious of people's opinions on the legions

Not really.

Gal Vorbak are possessed marines. They have daemons inside. They are still wearing normal power armour but cracked and broken, 40k csm have different armour. I really didn't think I had to spell this out.
>>
>>97940819
It killed the group that joined during 2.0 and did nothing to the one still playing 1.0.

generally visions of heresy is a vibe.

They drank the kool aid by the end of it. They’re just delusional about it like all the undivided legions. With the sole exception of the Word Bearers

This is wonky as shit but it's the best my small ability can do on such a tiny model. Now I just need to make a flag and find a small metal wire to mount it on the command tank.

Also maybe some comms equipment like from a 6mm WW2 radio operator (since I was going buy some 6mm models and terrain for a titan base)

i was sold when a friend described them as the bad guys that bomb the hell out of positions before sending in cannon fodder first so they can shoot whatever shot at them

thanks! i'm breezing through the easy chassis bits but i'll take more time doing patterns and maybe some freehand on the armour panels
>>97942040
just superglue and 5/32 brass rods but i'm using way more pins than normal. for example there's six pins holding the quake cannon in place at that angle and nine across the hips and pelvis
it feels rock solid and there's basically zero give in the legs which i was worried about
