Thread dead for two entire days edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ>third party sources for making trenchers:https://pastebin.com/YzXPVUAcUse these (and/or 3D printing) instead of the official plastics as their pricing contradicts the accessibility to the game (price wise) Trench Crusade was founded on.>Trench Companion, awesome warband builder and campaign trackerhttps://trench-companion.com/>Previous Thread:>>97820513>Thread QuestionWhat is the dumbest hero moment /your doods/ have ever had?
Never played it and don't intend to (not collecting yet another setting specific army), but has anyone considered using the setting for an RPG?
>>97942903There are fan projects, and Tuomas has shown some interest in making a ttrpg. But that is far away.
>>97942903A budy of mine did a one off based on the rules of tc and gurps and dark heresy but when i asked if he had any of it written down he laughed and said it was halfway all in his head unfortunately
>>97942110Went duking it out practically all game with a Lieutenant, only to successfully just knock each other down each turn, failing to stack blood points or anything.Went a little something like.>Roll to hit.>They get knocked down.>Use half movement to stand back up.>Roll to hit me.>I get knocked down.>Use half movement to stand back up.>Swing on them. Burn a blood point.>They get knocked down.>They stand back up and flip two points on my Hell Priest.>I get knocked down.
>>97942110>>Thread dead for two days.Huh, so does that mean interest in the game itself is waning, or does it mean people on here aren't interested in it anymore?
>>97945162it seems that raw numbers / normie interest is still growing respectably - I think its just people are sick of this thread due to the abundance of slap-fights.
>>97942110Companion Guy here, just letting you guys know that the prerelease rules will be made available once all the posts are out - we want to make them available in one go for ease-of-handling.Official and Prerelease data will be two versions you can swap between in the setting. You can convert warbands between versions, and if you're looking at a warband made in the other you'll warned.
>>97945903Will you have a similar setting to the beta rules where even after rules updates go live you'll be able to play existing rules with your campaign?>>97945162A big part of it is that we're a small, slow moving general at best. So most people don't notice and the few that do usually don't make threads. It doesn't help we don't have any drawfags in the general either because that's good OC that builds a community. Lastly the people trying to poison the general are a problem because it drives people away so if they are no shit interested they go to the discord or they leave entirely because they presume it's just the lolcow of the month.
>>97942903Only War would probably make a great baseline >designed for highly lethal combat where every PC is a part of the same military squad>naturally mixes melee and firearms>enemies can be both humans and weird inhuman monstrosities >rules for selecting specific quirks of your greater regiment/army>extended rules for generating and handling NPC squad buddies>rules for dealing with quartermasters, logistical fuck-ups etc. >rules for fear, mental trauma and demonic corruptionHonestly you could pretty much just swap regiment creation rules, PC specialisations, item tables and enemy stat blocks for Trench Crusade related ones and call it a dayI would have probably done it already if I didn't have like 10 other /tg/ related creative projects startedThat being said, the fact we don't have that much specific lore yet means that people in charge of such a project would probably have to come up with plenty of OC/fancanon
>>97946853>That being said, the fact we don't have that much specific lore yet means that people in charge of such a project would probably have to come up with plenty of OC/fancanonI'd even call that a benefit in some respects tell the story of your spec ops hoboes in the shattered streets of constantinople
>>97946890Oh, when it comes to the plots certainly, but I meant more when it comes to think like PC classes/specialisations. Like, I could probably come up with 10 different Iron Sultanate themed character classes that could all realistically be a part of the same military regiment and each perform a distinct gameplay role, but at least a few of them would probably need to be my OC idea rather than something that's actually already in the official lore. And definitely when it comes to the specific of what they could do. Aw, fuck, I really don't have time for this right now but I can feel my brain already locking in on this. I'll probably cook up at least a prototype of an Only War hack within a week
>>97946937Bless you rpg-anon and god speed you glorious bastard. I'm personally working on a pulp adventure story about Bolt-Action Lad, Hero of New Antioch ala WWI propanda that I hope to have ready for the next Trench Wire
>>97942110>Crrusade
>>97942110Pic rel comes up all the time with new players with automatic pistols it's kind of a thing but is it just a total failure of reading comprehension?
>>97945162/tg/ as a whole is dying
>>97949563You know, I'd expect that with the decrease in user count at least the quality of discussion would improve. You know, only the dedicated core community staying and whatnot. But nah, apparently all the fucking retards and shitposters stayed, but managed to drive most of quality anons away. Fucking grim
>>97945162I think /tg/ just lost interest in the setting as it's growing in popularity among redditers. Or that the setting's narrative has begun to be morphed in a way that appeals to redditer sensibilities.
>>97949563what actually caused the collapse because thats clearly in late 2021, did the pandemic kill of a bunch of old users and nobody realised until later when the pandemic wave receded
>>97945162There's just not much to talk about. What was the last thing we even heard from Factory Fortress other than bad news?
>>97950528>other than bad newsNews about new mini printing partners and community magazine Trench Wire. There was surge of conversation when something to talk about arrives. Which is not every day.

Is Trench Crusade the very definition of trying too hard?
>>97949288I know it'd fuck over balance too much, but I really feel like it should apply to melee attacks too.Same as how MG's SHOULD be 48 inch range.>>97950883TC team like to work slow, and the community broadly supports them taking their time.I hate this modern 'you must put #newproduct out every day/week/month to keep engagement going or your #brand will DIE' idea. It's pushed by marketing and PR people (who by their nature only have half an idea of how to do their jobs at best, and generally have no clue most of the time), and is the reason why every new movie is shit, every new product is shit, every new game is a rushed mess of bugs and generic slop design.Deadlines, whilst important in some cases, are the bane of passion.Rant aside, do we know if the printing partners bring new mini sculpts, or is it just manufacturing capacity?
>>97952149Manufacturing capacity, and faster deliveries around pacific.
>>97942110Is there any good guides for making a modular TC terrain set that you can mix and match?

>>97952183Not for TC in particular, but you can find plenty of guides on youtube and terrain building pdfs for general mil-sim terrain building.
>>97952171I feel like my Sniper Priest came out okay.
So have any new miniatures been confirmed for the Carcass Front?
>>97954737Nope no news on that frontOn the discord there's the funny crab with grenade as an emote. So I'm hoping there might actually be plans to do something with the funny crab. And I want an official funny crab
>>97954737Not since the inital release, although we've basically had a confirmation from other stuff we will be getting a naval chorister
Finally got the heretics I ordered. Got an additional anointed, chorister, and a death commando. I suppose I should be thankful that none of the models were damaged
>>97957698Where from
>>97950422You can track it by 40k popularity. 8th edition was a massive resurgence but it's been downhill since then.
>>97949563>>97950422>>97957865I for one welcome the return to pre-2015 era user base. Only thing we need now is some popular drawfags and some writefags to repopulate the board. maybe i should put my money where my mouth is and finish up the TC heretic legion fanfic i've been brainstorming up
is machine armor + heavy shotgun + heavy ballistic shield a good starting combo for a NA Lieutenant or am i overkitting him?
>>97958195>maybe i should put my money where my mouth is and finish up the TC heretic legion fanfic i've been brainstorming upDo it. I'm working on pulp fiction, and if the general is interested enough I'll post a rough draft when it's ready
>>97960084So first things first, he doesn't have strong so you can't move and shoot because the heavy shotgun is, well heavy. Which is critical with a shotgun at only 12" you could give him an automatic shotgun with a bayonet to get that flavor, but he's better off rip with light armor and a shield with that too make him durable and still able to full charge. Once he gets strong and you have enough extra ducats giving him machine armor is great but it's hard to justify off rip
>>97960220>So first things first, he doesn't have strongdifferent anon.that seems frustrating as hell.the machine armour doesn't give strong?
What demon court or heretic legion type would be most probably to run into around the hellgate in the north?
>>97960285>machine armour doesn't give strong?Nope, the machine armor doesn't give strong, but HMI have strong inherently, and giving them Machine Armor is only 10 ducats. Another issue is that the heavy shotgun doesn't have assault. So you can't charge with a 12" heavy weapon which feels bad.
>>97960658>>97960285And here's a pic from the companion showing what it gives, but no strong
>>97957865James Gameslop had record financials.
Are dogs useful in campaign play? We're at round 6 and I'm short on ducats but have a spare glory point.
>>97961953They're solid supporting units given you have spare glory - but shouldn't be counted on the Save The Day or anything.
What's gonna happen with this game? It's competing with 40k and the starcraft war game. The designers seem weridly interested in alienating people. Is this game actually gonna be the new hotness? or is it just gonna crash and burn. I like the setting and some of the designs, but idk
>>97962157If you like it then play it and promote it. That's how games survive and thrive.
alcohol might or might not be haram to the iron sultanate but i bet their alchemists could whip up a mean cocktail
>>97960602probably a healthy mix of nautical and dark shit that gets spewed out the random portals
>>97962544There's something offputting about that picture, it's sloppa isn't it? I also wouldn't trust an alchemist not to try killing an infidel with poison, I'll take my chance shooting him first before that happens
>>97960602Heretic naval raiders and wrath maybe? Something vaguely reflective of the scottish
>>97960602IIRC the lore blurb about the Northern Gate said that archdemon of Pride is especially interested in the region. As for Heretics, probably some pagan Finnish tribes worshipping the demons as their gods, but we don't have specific rules for that yet
>>97960602The fluff text for molotovs mentioned ice demons
>>97960700inflation, price-hikes, but mainly brand-loyality, hype-circles and sometimes good decisions like bringing dkk back.TC doesn't have any of these aside from looks, although I digress, looking at the pricing structure, they got that going for them.
>>97962701Yeah it's ai sloppa. I have no way near enough artistic skill to mimic that style.
>>97953646Looks great, anon!
>>97953646Looks great!>>97962157>It's competing with 40k and the starcraft war gameHow is it competing? It's a skirmish game.
>Got our minis printed by a friend of a friend>He noticed that Bull's model has a hole in his crotch>Decided to fucking throw in a free detachable custom size horse cock for the bull as a surprise Pondering whether I should paint it as well
>>97964632>>97964623Yeah, they're painting up pretty nice.
>>97950087This. Take this cringe fag shit over to redd1t or the groomer discords
Getting back into the game, someone is printing an ammo monk and an observer for me and I commissioned an artwork of this dude
>>97964632>How is it competing? It's a skirmish game.40k has skirmish games.
>>97964632Don't feed the trolls anon, you know better they're fairly desperate at this point, better to not give them anything to work with
I'm not a fan of skirmish games and this large of a model scale but I really like the concept, theme, and lore. I'm thinking about going as small as 6 mm to do big battles/operations. Would a ruleset like Future War Commander work with this setting? Maybe Fistful of Tows 3?
>>97967253Not familiar with either of those, but I think a bigger problem is that it's a young setting and we don't really have much concrete lore on how things operate outside of the scale the game was made for (i.e. how do mass battles look like and what exact sort of numbers/tech/tactics are used during them). So you would probably rely on plenty of headcanon. But probably any ruleset that works for WW1/WW2 games should do decently, especially if it also supports a reasonably common use of melee and could handle implementing some more esoteric shit (like occasional spell or large beasts)
>>97967253Well if the games are infantry heavy you'll get the right feeling I think. There aren't any rules for vehicles in the game right now, but you have a walking tank (shrine anchorite) and some abomination style monsters. As the other anon stood though make sure it supports melee in a real fashion as beating people back with bayonet/ greatsword charges is a core component to the game
>Tuomas Pirinen>Andy Chambers>Alessio CavatoreWhats with all these former GW designers? Why couldn't they stay at GW?
>>97968249Tuomas worked on Fantasy and once End Times came out he wasn't feeling it anymore, I think he mentioned something about better opportunities and being paid more.Andy didnt like how GW focused on spamming Codexes and he apparently had a lot of friction with management.Alessio worked on 40k 3rd edition afaik he just wasn't feeling it anymoreTuomas and Andy are both old school type of guys, it makes sense they'd stick to a group project like this. They just want the old days of GW and Fantasy
>>97968536Alessio was notorious in WHFB for being a powergamer. Everyone prayed he would do their armybook especially after his work on Skaven.
my friend group is starting up another campaign and my buddy picked C7S Pride... I wanted to play NA but I know historically NA vs Court is CBT ... how do I cope...
>>97950422>>97949563I would assume this is just due to Discords rise in popularity. Lord knows I'm only here for nostalgia reasons, while all actually useful /tg/ related discussion happens on various servers.
>>97967253Personally I can see Crossfire working pretty well thematically, though big battle TTWG's aren't my wheelhouse.

>>97973539>>97973232No worries fellas. As some additional information on what we're up to. We're currently working on Homebrew support. The technical side works smooth once the homebrew data is added - so our final job is to let people upload/install homebrew, and making sure if a warband uses homebrew that people are prompted to install all the necessary homebrew when viewing them.Anything the data does, you will be able to add. So thats things like new factions, variants, models, equipment, scenarios, keywords, etc, etc, etc. For example, here's a mercenary I added quickly for testing.
the rest of Carcass Front miniatures have been revealed>https://www.trenchcrusade.com/news/carcass-front-minis-revealed/
>>97973864>We're currently working on Homebrew supportThat's both unexpected and incredibly welcome anon. I know I'm my campaigns we usually have some themed stuff slapped in so being able to just make it then and there is incredible
>>97974394I hate that horn
>>97974394Could not have guessed the war prophet would look like that
There's one guy in the uk who has been buying up all the Trench Crusade rulebooks, anyone know anything about this? Here's his most recent bids.
>>97974782Yeah Homebrew/Modding has always been super important to me. Without Homebrew the app feels very sterile/corporate - I think supporting homebrew is important to actually support the community that plays the game.
>>97942110https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1199311391/john-blanches-en-garde-vanguardWell that's new. Tuomas seems like he missed making games for the tabletop. It almost feels like he's trying to make a miniatures renaissance in the vein of OSR
>>97979660>Tuomas seems like he missed making games for the tabletopThey all miss working for GW during the golden era.
>>97951209>unrecognizable toasty composureHoly shit I can’t believe you guys let this go.
>>97979660For some reason my brain always has a hard time accepting that John Blanche is actually still very much alive and continuously doing new work instead of being some late or retired master from a bygone era. Not sure what's up with that. Anyway, doesn't look like my cup of tea so far, but good for them I suppose.
>>97945162TC is very dead. They did an excellent job of alienating anyone that was interested in it with their bs.Hey at least we got some fun stuff out of it
>>97979660>Tuomas seems like he missed making games for the tabletopHe said so in a interview.
Has anyone read the new scripture guardian rules, those bastards are INSANE
>>97981066At least someone got buffed. They nerfed Ammo Monks to the floor.
Haven't checked back in a while, has the Church of Metamorphosis got rules yet?
>>97968536Tuomas is also flamingly gay everytime his image is shown, and gw wasn't seemingly gay enough back then, he should try to go back now
>>97981066How has the Scripture Guardian been buffed? Vengeful Scripture used to be its own bespoke action, that acted like a ranged attack but distinctly wasn't. And as it wasn't it could be used in melee as well. Now that it's a ranged attack that's able to be used in melee, it's subject to all the things that can negatively effect them. I suppose the one saving grace is that it ignores cover, but it did that before as it wasn't a ranged attack. And now all Mercs have been slapped with their own keyword to specifically preclude them from in faction benefits. >>97981994To be fair the Blast giving sacrament was the best choice 90% of the time. But it does seem like an overcorrection. Paying for the sins of the hilariously overpowered Blast AMR I suspect.
>>97981066Also in the update Alamut is getting their own models, with that we'll have plastic for most of the faction
>>97982452They did say they wanted the Guardian to be more distinctly a ranged unit, so I guess that's it. The bigger buff this round was them giving the MURAD Bombard +1 dice on accuracy, which means House of Enlightenment can toss them onto their +1 Ranged build-a-bear homonculi for hyper accurate, long range Deadly keyword artillery fire. But then they had to give them something after the genuinely disgusting nerf they slapped onto Jannisaries.
>>97983032>the genuinely disgusting nerf they slapped onto Jannisaries. What happened?
>>97983176They removed counter-charge for an ability that's basically a massive nothingburger. It's not ACTIVELY HURTING them admittedly, but losing Counter-Charge is very gross.
>>97982173Not yet, no. Will likely get them after Path of The Beast does.
>>97983229The new Janny ability is way better than Countercharge. Remember that Countercharge only worked if charging was the very first action the Janny did. So no dashing, or assault weapon shot beforehand. The opponent had to be in LOS and charge range at the beginning of the Jannies activation. Whereas getting 4 dice dashes gives incredible consistency to one of the most important actions in the game. Now Jannies and the Captain can very reliably get up the field. And they are the absolute kings of "peekaboo" Dash - Shoot - Move out of LOS. Because at 4 dice it's working ~90% of the time.
>>97983643>hereas getting 4 dice dashes gives incredible consistency to one of the most important actions in the game. They have to be within range 4" of a fucking musician to do that. Which means you need ANOTHER guy to forgo his off hand or two hand weapon to do that. Do you have any fucking idea how goddamn unweildy that is? Whereas counter-charge meant, as the name would suggest, if somebody fucked up their own dash or charge at the Jannisary he would reliably fuck them sideways. You might get the musician ability off once or twice a game. Whereas Counter-Charge meant that you had to make hard tactical choices about how close you got to that grinning lunatic. They have taken a good ability that added tactical friction to the game, and replaced it with a superfluous bonus to dashing that frankly doesn't contribute more than what the Musician was already doing. The fact that they didn't even let the Yusbazi keep it either is just the smegma frosting on the shit-twinkie.
>>97983828That said, conversely, what they've done to the Brazen Bull? 10 out of 10. No notes.Living Battering Ram makes that thing an actual goddamn bull in the china-shop. He will flame your ass with the Flame Cannon, then he will body check you to floor, stomp your head in with an armour ignoring free melee attack, and THEN he's going to smack you over the head with the nastiest melee weapon this side of the bowels of hell.
>>97983828Unless you're a warband that has multiple built in dash bonuses like Prussians or Naval Raiders you're going to be taking a musician anyway as the added consistency to Dash is way too important. And the jump from three dice to four is still pretty significant going from ~72% to ~90%. It also means that one blood isn't going to completely tank your chances of making that Dash. And sure the musical instrument takes up a hand, but just stick it on an Azeb with a medikit and grenades and hide them away as a null activation. Or if it's safe Dash them to another location so there's two potential 9" diameter auras that it effects. One of the main things I learnt from my previous campaign was that Dashes can win games. And so getting a bonus on some of the hardest hitting units that can make Dashes all but guaranteed seems like a huge boon to me.
>>97983864Thing is as it's a flat roll, at best you're looking at a 58% chance of it working. Down to 32% vs =>40mm bases. Great when it goes off, but not something you rely on. But the Flame Cannon getting Assault is absolute gold.
>>97964788>IS players are the new SW players.Kek
>>97985439Players with abominations are the absolute degeneratesNext you'll say that water is wet anon.I will say I was surprised that HL was more of the elites faction than anyone else not typically what I associate with evil bad guys
>>97988377Court is more elite, I think.HL has more mid/mid high units that are powerful enough to punch above their weight, but not priced like elites.
>>97989218That's fair, though I'd meant more generally but yeah the court are the definition of building tall with their mega units
I have a starting IS warband of 6 models, should I swap one of my Jannis for more bodies?
>>97990414For the very beginning of the campaign 6 dudes is acceptable I think, but I would definitely get at least one more guy right after the first battle
>>97990414For vanilla IS your generally only really investing a lot of ducats into your Captain and Bull. So getting 7/8 models shouldn't be too hard.House of Wisdom definitely can start with 6 or less models as you've got up to 2 Faris, Bull, and up to 2 Homunculi that you can sink ducats into for good effect.
>>97990414I try to make sure never to start a campaign with less than 7 models. Anything less and it feels like horde armies just get free reign to complete objectives that means you lose. What's your list of you don't mind posting?
>>97990606pls no bulli## Anon's Core IS Warband ## Faction: Iron SultanateRating: 700 Ducats | 0 GloryPatron: None## Elites ##Yüzbaşı Captain - 170D• Upgrades & Choices: Janisary Veteran• Battlekit: Halberd-Gun, Combat Helmet, Corrosive Ammunition, Alchemist ArmourJabirean Alchemist - 90D• Battlekit: Sniper Rifle## Troops ##Brazen Bull - 210D• Battlekit: Flame Cannon, Great Hammer/Maul, Standard Armour, Trench ShieldJanissary - 89D• Battlekit: Siege Jezzail, Trench Knife, Alchemical AmmunitionJanissary - 89D• Battlekit: Siege Jezzail, Trench Knife, Alchemical AmmunitionAzeb - 52D• Battlekit: Medi-Kit, Musical Instrument, Frag Grenades

>>97990789Oh I'd also drop the Alch armour down to Reinforced and get the Captain a shield. The Alch armour bonus is nice, but getting the Captain to -3 armour is more important.
>>97990811I've got KoA and C7S opponents, I figured it would be useful to have it now rather than later when I might not have the ducts
Is it safe to buy a resin printed Shrine Anchorite or should I wait until the "GW-tier plastic" one is eventually released?
>>97992416I've had no problem with any resin prints i've bought from across a lot of different suppliers so i'd say go for it.
>>97990414>>97990432>>97990577Imo, early game is the best time for vanilla IS to load up on bodies, because azebs with jezzes and alchammo are some of the most efficient shooty bodies in the game.Yes, they fall off hardcore in a campaign, and I havent stress tested it in a one off, but at first, they can simply put more accurate fire downrange than any other army while still being able to cap objectives.

>97994847
>>97994921The resin trap issue is overblown, but you have swung right back the other way into denial of reality, because the talk about resin traps is definitely is based on a real problem. Here, this is a spreadsheet tracking the errors that was posted by Tuomas himself on facebook:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Qc85T64rh8U02-7NlyCYBjfeMXP2Dsd3DLGrm50qI_I/edit?gid=0#gid=0I'd post the facebook link, but 4chan seems to think that my post is spam if I include it - do a web search for "TC STL reported issues" and you should find the post.Note the dates - these problems were identified and fixed within around a month of the release of the STLs. If you got the files immediately upon them first being released, and either printed them immediately or kept them around and never checked for an updated version, it was definitely possible to print models with rather large resin traps (the warwolf's head being mostly hollow was the most egregious IIRC). However, anyone getting their hands on the STLs legitimately post Jan 2025 wouldn't have had a problem with that, and even sources of pirated files have replaced the OG stls with fixed ones IME. The important thing about the resin traps isn't that they didn't happen. The important thing is that they happened and were immediately fixed, while this topic is still getting brought up 2 years later as if it was never corrected.

Been thinking about how American Factions could be done. I know that there will never be made via official sources, so here it goes. >Confederated North Tribes.A union of most N. American native tribes. Since Europe never colonized/conquered the Americas, both Faithful and Heretics look at the new world and the sea in between as a new theater of war. Under the Threat of Aztec Expansion (more on them later) The Northen tribes got together into a war council to unify under one banner for the time being. They trade with the Faithful, exchanging food, clothing and other natural resources for weapons, ammo and other military tech, to defend against the Aztecs and the Leviathan (more on them later). CNT focus on skirmish tactics and medium combat, being viable both in range and in melee, while sporting little armor. Sub factions could be specified as different Tribes, with each tribe having a few different mechanics or focus. From a religious sense, while denying Christ, the CNT see them as way better than the demonic heretics. They invoke power of Shamanistic Traits, blessing their soldier with totemic powers (Similar to Blessed Tokens, but each Tribe is imbued with different powers, similar to goetic. So instead of Wrath, Envy etc, you,d have Spider, Bison, Wolf, Eagle etc)Cont.
>>97997786>Aztecs EmpireThe blood rituals of the Aztecs caught the attention of Hell, bringing forth a new Hell Gate in Central America. Now the Empire raids trough land and sea to capture new sacrifices to sate the bloodlust of those Hellish Gods, with pyramids of corpses rising as high as the clouds and as deep as hell, some would say. While more aligned to the Heretics of the old world, the Aztecs see this alliance as a tool, exchanging natural resources for weapons and Technology. Army wise they would be a melee centered factions, with either Fast and light armored units or slower bulkier ones. They have access to Hell Glass, a special type of Obsidian only found on her, making the attacks of such weapons apply more blood markers or have bonus damage. Aztecs also have access to beast warriors, who communed with Beasts using Blood Rituals becoming part of such creatures. So the Jaguar Warriors are literally part Jaguar, high melee and speed, low armor, with Temple Guards Being the opposite. bulkier but slower. The Aztecs have a special interaction with Blood Tokens, similar to Goetic powers, in the sense that they can Use Blood Markers on enemy Units to buff themselves with via certain spells. >Leviathan (Heretic Naval Raiders)Just a different type of units to them, maybe some shark related mutants I don't know, the HNR already cover much of the ground. You could also make them pseudo-Conquistadores with the pretty armor and masks.Cont.
>>97997822>Inca EmpireThe IE managed to get control of a good part of South America, using the Andes to build their impenetrable fortifications. Constantly threatened by the Leviathan on the coast and the Aztecs north, they ended up developing themselves with less help from the Faithful, meaning they don't have access to gunpowder weaponry. They managed to build a well developed system of roads and settlements in S. America, either allying themselves or conquering the other less organized tribes, funneling their resources in their defense against the forces of hell. Inca's are somewhat versatile, not excelling in any aspect but not lacking in anything in particular. They have Priests that can bless their allies or call forth the wrath of the sun god to smite their foes. Unit wise, the Inca's have access to well armored Golden Warriors, blessed be the sun themselves, and to various soldiers recruited from the different tribes more focused in ranged combat or skirmishers, with the Arny focus being on the blessing marker distributed by the Priests.
>>97997822>>97997786Aztec history autist here. I don't think I like the beast warriors, though I guess it depends on the execution.Seems like it would just result in designs like the left side of pic related for Jaguars, except done even worse in terms of it being steeped in making them look overly primitive. I don't have an inherent issue with them being hell aligned, but I wouldn't want it to result in playing into the same stereotypical pop culture visual tropes that constantly plagues how people think about and depict Mesoamerican civilizations. If you can manage to make them look refined, fancy, and opulent despite also being snarling hellbeasts though then I'm not opposed. For what it's worth I gave my own pitch for how you could make them a holy faction here: https://desuarchive.org/tg/thread/95563547/#95582290 and in the follow up replies.
>>97998075Read your posts and they are truly enlightening, thanks for putting such rich and well written pieces. Due to the "Abrahamic" cosmovision of the TC universe it is kinda hard to escape from it if adapting kingdoms/civs that in an alternate history weren't victims of genocide to to the extend it happened irl.The reason for my deliberate choice to put the Aztecs as the Heretic aligned factions stems from their geographical position, allowing them to pose a threat to both N. America and S. America, being the "Evil Guys".And don't get me wrong. Were I to make a proper lore and unit list of the Aztecs they would be pimped out. Highly developed cities, noble houses scheming for power and such. A sort of Central-American Rome or Chaos Dwarf were I to use a Warhammer comparasion, a militaristic expansive society that cultivated a """"""""""high culture"""""""" on it's capitals for their nobilities and priestly castes. Beast warriors being a part of an elite class, the people who gain the honor to commune with the sacred blood are the best athletes that survived blood sports. Their own allegiance to the heretics being out of self interest rather than submission. I'm tempted to use this Noble Savagery, not in the sense of innocence, but that their violence and brutality are a fruit of their advanced civilizations, rather than of a primitive mindset.
>>97999204Thanks for the kind words, though honestly re-reading what I posted there and it was pretty sloppy and all over the place by my usual standards. As I said, I don't mind them being Heretics/Hell aligned, if they could be designed in a way which ties into their actual historical aesthetics and cultural symbolism in a neat way, and which avoids common misinformed tropes about them.As it applies to the beast warriors, something to keep in mind is that it's not like animal themed military equipment was some pervasive, massive aspect of their militarism. I wouldn't go as far as to say that it was merely "minor", since of the helmet, warsuit etc variations we have documentation of, they do make up a not insignificant proportion of them, and "Jaguars and Eagles" was a difrasismo metaphor for soldiers (or at least it is proposed to be one), and the region did have shape-shifting shamans/sorcerers who were were jaguars and shit as a cultural concept, but it's not like all or even most equipment variations were animal themed.A potential alternative I might suggest would be to leaning into the concept of teixiptla, deity impersonators who were seen as becoming the god they were being sacrificed to (some sources describe idols, statues etc also technically being teixiptla when worshiped as the god they depicted, but that may play into some contentious reconstructions of Aztec theology I know of, so I'm not quite sure that's accurate off the top of my head, though it could be), and have that exist in universe as demonic possession and people acting as their worldly incarnation, but A: I don't know how well that fits into how Trench Crusade's lore, and B: I guess some could argue that's iffy in it's own way. Again, though, my main concern with the beast warriors is just that it'd be easy to go from "beast-people" to them coming off as overly primitive and savage, especially visually, and if that can be avoided I don't inherently mind it.
>>97999204>>98001753Also If you have questions about anything or want ideas for inspiration or references with anything Mesoamerica, let me know, I'll keep my eye on this thread till a new one gets made, though I am pretty busy now so I can't promise I'll have time to reply
>>98001760>>98001753Fell free to add and give me your two cents on the subject, both on in faction lore/unit concepts and mechanics, as well as the overall lore of the America’s. You seem to have way more knowledge in the subject and it's always nice to read more from people that deeply care about the subject. While in TC lore the conquest of the America's didn't happen since both heretics are faithful were too busy in their wars, still make sense for both sides to be interested in the resources of another continent, just to find it in their own version of a similar war.If I were to design a Jaguar warrior unit it would be a rare and elite troop, add lore on how hard it is to become one and how it is a source of pride to the houses that manage to produce soldiers worthy of the communion while most of the other soldiers wear/use military grade appropriate gear. And since we have living saints and all sorts of divine feats from both heretics and faithful I wouldn't mind pagan gods/spirits possessing/incarnating their devotees. How would you suggest/conceptualize the American wars, such as factions and relations to the old world power?
Court changes should be up on the Trench Companion now.
>>98003233thank you for your service
>>97993120I can get myself up to 8 models by taking out both Jannies and fielding extra Azebs, but do people even bother with the skirmisher upgrade?
>>98003233You're the best anonHere's the link to anyone who wants to read up on them on the trench wire itselfhttps://www.trenchcrusade.com/trench-wire/rules/the-court-rules-review-hotfix/>>98003713It's kind of niche you shouldn't be getting that close to begin with but making your opponent fail a charge with it is always hysterical
>>97993120Realistically it's a balancing act between having enough bodies on the field, having Elites off the rip so they're earning XP. And investing into equipment for stuff like Elites, Bull etc so they can perform their roles. While also having enough suitable candidates for promotion because you now have to allocate all promotion dice now. So if you just spam Azebs there's a chance you'll get a relatively useless Elite Azeb.

Starting on TC and I'm divided between Trench Ghosts and Dirge. In 40k terms, how does these two factions play? The TG Banshee seems really nice, I was thinking about a fire line to inflict BM and then send her and the D.Commando to close things in melee, given the Banshee extra damage and the army overall -1 against ranged. Dirge on the other hand seems really sweet to spread I.Markers, and cash them in for a devastating turn.
>>98009503From my experience and reading through the warband rules:Trench Ghosts are very old-school Tzeentch Rubric Marines in playstyle. Tough and slow mainline infantry with lynchpin elites that hits like a truckDirge on the other hand plays a bit more like Imperial Guard, with chaff ranged infantry and decent elites that can hand out command bonuses.
>>98003713No just drown the enemy in more bodies for more sweet sweet alchemical rounds.
>>97998075This right here is the primary reason I want TC to stay far away from Meso America.Fucking white people are too in love with the stereotypes they made about others. It would absolutely end up being some soulless, godawful, pastiche mockery made up of every stereotype you care to name, and it will be defended by the company and the most fucktarded part of the fanbase for (((reasons))).It's why I hope they leave the rest of Africa and Asian out of the game for as long as possible. I trust the devs to deal with their own culture and their own people fairly and honestly. This trust doesn't extend outwards from that.
>>98003713>do people even bother with the skirmisher upgrade?I do and have, if only because I run an optional close order IS warband, so I lead with the yuzbazi and have a pimp squad of skirmishers backing him up; either shooting and charging things to soften them up for the yuzbazi, or jumping in to melee with him in support. It has worked more than not, because most models do not last long against 3+ models in melee unless they are custom built for it.
>>97980764(you)
>>97983828If you are building your warband without a musician you don't understand the fundamentals of the game.
>>98012342To wit, anon, it is an elite strat, one that doesn't show up on paper, but as you play the game.I think the watchers, haters, and newbies simply didn't know.Shit, I didn't know how good they were until I ran my backdoor IS band with the new rules. I ask a kindness, as it is Godly to offer knowledge to the ignorant, that they may grow.Bismilah!
>>98012342>>98012404Yeah for me it's the mandatory Leader model and a musical instrument somewhere are the starting point for any warband.Even the likes of Prussians/Naval Raiders who have numerous Dash bonuses want one to crank the odds even further. And it doesn't neccessarily have to be on a basic chump. For instance Court do quite well with it on the Sorceror as thier "gun" doesn't take up any hands.
>>98003713idk about early game but azebs are shit from a butt in melee, so skirmisher can let you avoid that and, even better, get closer to objectives.
How do people get their minis for this game?

>>98021108>Trench Ghosts are slow as shit, even with a musician. You might want to lean more heavily into HL's absurd range and keep melee gear on the cheaper side.>Take the armour off the troopers. Armour should be used to protect investments. Troopers aren't that, and the armor on either of them costs more than the rest of their battlekit combined.>I hate Sarcophagus Mines but someone might have had better experiences with them.>Banshees/Choiristers have terrible Range Att, but you can circumvent that with FLAMETHROWER if you can make room for it.
>>98021108Doods don't get swords, they don't have +D to hit so critting doesn't really come up. Give them bayonets instead for bolt actipn guys they're just a better trench club. Armor is a premium, use those points for another dood with instrument instead of armor on your troopers. In game 1, 2 armor is pretty much all you're going to need. Consider dropping down to light armor with shield and a sac knife on your chorister. Silenced pistol is funny and flavorful on the commando, but just take a gas nade unless you're really going for flavor

>>98024808Your Priest is a +2 Ranged, a simple Bolt Action seems like a waste on them and is a bit redundant if you're giving them Gas Grenades anyway. This also goes for your other Trooper with Gas Grenades/BA Rifle.Arti Witch might want a shield and/or combat helmet? They tend to get a lot of unwanted attention for obvious reasons. You do not need a trench knife on your Musician, Pistols can be used in melee or at range.Overall, I've seen worse.
>>98026068Can you even take a Trench Knife with a Pistol and an Instrument?
>>98026566You can and could even use it, but you'd still only get the one worse profile from the knife or the ability to use the pistol as a club. So it's not worth it, as using the pistol as a club is baked into the cost and you're still always using 1 hand for your instrument slot.
>>98026566Personally I prefer making my instrument shield+armor+instrument+gas nade to force my opponent to deal with it if they want him actually gone and because of the nade he can still theoretically fight

>>98030934>You have a very low model count for a battle 1 and you aren't playing an elite-heavy variant like KoA. If you can, I would ditch the Witch or the War Wolf (not both) and use that extra money to fill out your roster so you can better hold objectives or pad activations.>The Choirster is scary as shit at close range, but close range is also in grenade range. Maybe think about getting a Combat Helmet? You can ditch the Trench Knife completely on non-wretched models.>The armor on the musician isn't worth it. -1 armor isn't much and replacing a musician isn't that difficult. He can also ditch the pistol or the grenade, but not both.>The wretched is a warm body to hold objectives, you really don't want or need to give him anything more than a knife desu.
>>98030934Get rid of the all the kit on the wretched, give him a knife. Get rid of the armor on the trooper, replace his pistol with a club, get rid of the chorister’s knife. That should get you 30 ducats, just enough to grab another trooper and transfer the flamethrower to him. Chorister wants to be stabbing people and flame throwers don’t have assault. If you want everyone to have melee you could downgrade the trooper’s club and give them both knives.
Getting back into the game after backing it at launch. Is Fidai most likely to be the next plastic warband subfaction? I hear they more or less said it would be getting the same treatment. In the meantime I have my Sultanate models to paint up, their new beta rules look nice.
Is there a lore reason the new castigator has that shit on?
>>98032334The funni inquisition hat? Or the millstone around his neck?>funni hatNo but it's a war game, funni hats are mandatory>millstoneYes actually it's used by them to with down the sins of the unworthy and drown them in the mud of the trenches
>>98032352I just feel like he’s very different in aesthetic, everyone else seems to be wearing rags where he feels more opulent. Didn’t know if this subfaction’s castigators come from a different place, or they equip theirs better or something.
I finally played my first game. I used heretics V pilgrims. As a post above mentioned, I can make a model retreat. Never did that. Could have been insanely useful to do that when a communicant was positioned to beat the skull in of my anointed. I guess it would have also been nice to try to play more of a ranger game instead of charging in at all? I'm not going to go look for meta list building but I did go and swap all the swords off my troopers and equiped the bayonets so now I'm thinking about my priest. He's got an auto shotty and a sacrificial blade. Maybe I drop the blade for another bayonet and give him a shield too?Oh yeah, anointed ate shit, chorister suffered a head wound so my promotion was wasted fixing that and I purchased a death commando. Naval raider subfaction so the troopers are rocking smgs. It's fun, will play again.
>>98032376IIRC the castigators are partially responsible for processing the belonings of people who want to become pilgrims
>>98032186Hard to tell, but it's most likely going to be some Sultanate variant, so yeah, probably either Fidai or House of Wisdom. My bet would be on the latter though, since I think it's more popular
>>98033837Wisdom would give them the excuse to make plastic alchemy monsters so I'm kinda leaning on them doing that too.
>>98032334I like most of those dudes, but kinda bummed that they didn't give us a unique Anchorite Shrine model for them
>>98031570>>98031729I understand if ducats are tight not wanting a wretched to have much but a shotgun type weapon is actually not terrible for them since it negates their penalty, and having a body that only holds objectives and can't contribute to combat at all is rough. Shotguns are also pretty cheap to take so I don't think it's the worst idea.
>>98034069For Court Wretches Arquebus is a pretty neat choice, since it doubles down as both a melee and ranged weapon for a fairly cheap price. Unlikely for them to actually do anything with it anyway, but I've managed to take down a few enemies over the course of a campaign that way. And there's always a chance of at least generating some extra blood markersDon't think Heretics have access to it though
>>98034261Yeah, heretics don't unfortunately. Have you tried the blunderbuss on the wretches for the court? I haven't played them but it having shrapnel makes it feel like not a bad play to have them able to more consistently generate an additional blood marker without having to be basically useless in the back as a blood battery
>>98033837>>98033845They've already stated that Fidai are getting the separate box treatment, with two new units added to their roster. https://www.trenchcrusade.com/trench-wire/rules/iron-sultanate-rules-update/
>>98034573Neato. I really have to get my group back together for another campaign as soon as work finally stops eating up all of my time, energy and will to live.
>>98033858The bigger issue is the lack of the pointed hats that so strongly define the faction. It honestly feels like they pussied out with this choice, and probably at the last minute, since if they were going to not give them the Capriote design, then they might as well have done one of the New Antioch subfactions instead. Either Red Brigade with their dogs and crimson communicant, or Eire with some guy DOOTing about with a Carnyx and a greased up naked irishman berserker. If they'd had the balls, they should have given us the St Methodious subfaction, and done a plastic multipart Anchorite Shrine for it, vs a horrific Black Grail plastics set.
Okay another updategotta say, having no War Wolf feels a bit scary, but I at least have all my elites mapped up. And since its a short campaign ill have enough for him next time and then some (200d Each)I thought it would be better to have one more HL trooper rather then two wretches so I could spread out more Helmets, and have a Objective bitch who can still do something maybeAlso since they're just melee it was cheaper to give them Standard and Shields rather then reinforced armor## Despots of Golden Calfs ## Faction: Heretic LegionRating: 699 Ducats | 0 GloryPatron: Mammon## Elites ##Heretic Priest - 143DBattlekit: Sacrificial Blade, Combat Helmet, Gas Grenades, Standard Armour, Trench ShieldHeretic Chorister - 118DBattlekit: Sacrificial Blade, Combat Helmet, Standard Armour, Trench ShieldDeath Commando - 135DBattlekit: Tartarus Claws, Combat Helmet, Gas Grenades, Standard Armour## Troops ##Artillery Witch - 130DBattlekit: Infernal Bomb, Combat Helmet, Standard Armour, Trench ShieldHeretic Trooper - 68DUpgrades & Choices: Heretic LegionnaireBattlekit: Trench Club, Musical Instrument, Gas GrenadesHeretic Trooper - 63DBattlekit: Flamethrower, Trench ClubHeretic Trooper - 42DBattlekit: Bolt-Action Rifle, Bayonet## Stash ##Stashed Ducats: 1Unspent Glory: 0 ---

My other warbands have been Children of Yggdrasil (pilgrims) and Holy Shogunate (antioch), and my son has Heretic Legions.Speaking of which, I really need to homebrew something for Japan - I really prefer when variant and/or creative-discretion model designs have some rules (even if homebrew) to back them up. I love that the Children of Yggdrasil models have some custom rules to run with them. If I wasn't planning on *probably* doing Trench Ghosts whenever I get around to a legion team for myself, I'd definitely try out the Cadaver Corps too.

companion guy here. Homebrew is going well, cant give an exact timeframe but there dont appear to be any technical issues.Warning up front. For financial reasons uploading homebrew is premium users only. BUT you can still manually add it to your browser storage and anyone can download/search for homebrew that others have uploaded.
>>98046859Oh hell yeah! Good to hear, man. Premium-only seems fine (as long as that's reasonable).
>>98046868its not my favourite outcome, but since users can upload any amount of homebrew, and that homebrew can be any size, its needed to prevent operating costs from balooning. We figured it was better than limiting the size/amount of homebrew a person can upload.

Wrote a short story from the view of one of the wretches in my Lust-aligned C7HS warband.--------They called him Matthieu once.A conscript from the salt villages beyond New Antioch, pressed into service with a rusted rifle and a sermon about sacrifice. He had survived three winters in the trenches, which already made him ancient by the standards of the front. He survived by keeping his head low, his prayers short, and his eyes away from the piles of dead that froze upright against the parapets. The officers spoke of glory. The priests spoke of purity. The mud spoke louder than both.It happened during the Sack of Saint Bartholomew’s Redoubt. The artillery had stopped sometime before dawn, leaving only the ringing silence that always came before a charge. Matthieu remembered the fog most clearly, pale and thick as milk, rolling across no man’s land while shapes moved inside it.Not soldiers but beautiful things. At first he thought they were angels. Gleaming figures walked untouched through the crater fields, their skin luminous against the soot-black earth. Velvet banners drifted behind them without wind. One smiled at him from across the wire, and despite the gunfire, despite the screams, he felt suddenly warm. Then Sergeant Vale beside him began clawing his own face open, weeping and laughing all at once. The line collapsed moments later.Matthieu ran. Everyone ran. But the fog swallowed direction and distance alike. He stumbled into a shell crater filled not with water, but dozens of bodies, piled together in frozen embraces, mouths stretched open in ecstatic agony. Then something materialized beside him.>[CONTINUED IN NEXT POST]
>>98049543She wore the shape of a woman, impossibly tall and slender. Gold jewelry pierced her horns and throat. Delicate blades of soot-blackend iron and blood surrounding her like a halo. Her face was veiled, but beneath the silk he could see movement, as though several expressions fought to exist at once.“You are afraid,” she said softly.Matthieu tried to raise his rifle. His hands would not obey him.“You have always been afraid.”Around the crater, the battle faded. The screams became distant, muffled beneath the steady beating of his own heart.“What are you?” he whispered. The creature tilted her head.“A daughter,” she replied. “As you could become a son.”Then she removed the veil.Years later, the thing called Matthieu still wandered with Lilith's Devoted, though little of the man he used to be remained. His back had bent permanently, spine twisted beneath ritual scarring and grafted silk. His jaw hung slack from constant muttering prayers to the Mother of Monsters. His eyes had been sewn shut with silver thread so he would forever carry the memory of that vision inside himself. The Devoted called him a wretch, though not cruelly. Wretches gathered the dead after battle, dragged captives to the flesh-sculptors and sang hymns in wet choking voices while the warband marched.>[CONTINUED IN NEXT POST]
>>98049545Matthieu loved them. That was the horror of it all.He loved the perfume that masked the smell of burning flesh. Loved the soft laughter of the halfbreed courtiers. Loved the towering hellspawn who stroked his scarred scalp with clawed hands and called him faithful. In their presence he no longer felt cold, or hunger, or fear. Only purpose.Sometimes, during raids against the trenches of New Antioch, prisoners recognized the remnants of the man he had once been. They shouted his name through broken teeth and smoke.“Matthieu! God alive, what happened to you?”He never answered. Because the truth was that Matthieu had died in the fog outside Saint Bartholomew’s Redoubt. And the thing that remained would do anything, anything at all, to feel the Mother’s gaze upon him again.[THE END]
>>98049543>>98049545>>98049548Great read, inspired me to make my short story about Trench Ghosts
>>98048450>>98048995>Japan brainstormingI mean, I have these models - Holy Shogunate from Bite the Bullet. I need something that works with these, but has a bit of flavor to it.Though I love the ideas you guys had - sound like great ideas for models/kitbash ideas.
Sooth and SorrowThe blast took of my should off my left armor on the joint. Bits and pieces of metal puncture my body in like needles, too much to count. Breathing is hard, my right lung collapsed. I taste my own blood on my mouth, coughing every time I try to breath. The mud is cold, my blood mixes with the stagnant water and dirt. Another corpse is next to me, can't see if a friend or foe. My vision darkens, the black clouds above won't grace the earth with any rain, the light from explosion the only bright thing. Heaven won't accept me, I'm aware of that, every inch of pleasure I got in this life was paid with glee, hell is the place I'll go, but in this cold muddy trench, God and Devil don't seem so different. For some reason I have an urge to pray. To who, or for what I don't know. Not for salvation, not for mercy, not for help. The hours linger, the dark clouds remain, silence fell on the battlefield. Can't hear the screams of the living, can't hear the guns, the prayers, the swear, the explosions. An I'll wind blows, I should have been dead by now, yet this very earth holds my broken body still. Does it love me and wishes to embrace me? Does it hate me and want to torment me to the last moment? It's hard to tell. I just wish someone to appear, friend or foe, to notice my state and drive a bayonet trough my hearth or put a bullet on my head. The days endure, this is not right. I'm dead, I don't breath. My hearth stopped, the blood clotted. I don't feel any pain, only the cold. The dark clouds mock my. Flocks of carrion birds take their banquet. The flesh of the saint and sinful being devoured with no distinction. Rat and what not feat on my flesh. I see without eyes, I hear with ears clogged with mud. A thunder bellows above, a mockery. This cruel earth won't release my soul, oh how I long for the warmth of hell. The torment of the Sinner Road fells like an orgy right now.Cont.
>>98051639The smoke fills my lungs, I'm forced to breath again. It burns, it burns so sweet. I hear a choir, and instruments, a procession. I was denied salvation as well as damnation. The piper plays a mournful tune, I'm compelled to get up. The smoke fill my head, I open my eyes of cold ember. My broken limbs move on their own, I'm no longer their master. Resent, hatred, sadness. These emotions blend as one, my mind melting under the sooth and song. My body get's up. I find a broken gas mask, the right broken. I don it, even though I know that no gas or chemical weapons will hurt this body. The music continues, louder, the rhythm increasing. I pick up a blow off arm, maybe it's mine, but it doesn't matter. The smoke attaches it to the rest of my body. A rusted bayonet, a grenade that failed to explode, a rifle with it's barrel broken in half. I notice others doing the same, the same smoke, the same cold embers. All conscripts on a war we know nothing about and will last forever. The weight of the gun is familiar, the trigger rusted but still working, for some miracle from heaven or hell the bullets didn't get wet..I look up, three heads look down on me. One laughs, the other rages, the last one cries. This three fold god and it's assortment of dozens of hands, clubs, pistols, instruments. The heads turn away, the being marches on. I follow. Soon enough I'm in a regiment, each one a mismatch of arms and uniforms. Cross and pentagram side by side. Heaven and Hell don't matter now, for all men are equal on death.
My dumbest hero moment was in my second game. > Be me> Play Great Hunger> Give butcher knights grasping maw> Second game is against fidai of alamut> Enemy keeps putting units on high ground> Single butcher knight tries pulling one guy down from a roof> Kill> FuckYes.webm> Next turn pulls another enemy from a ledge> Second kill> WtfIsHappening.tapestry> Enemy player in shambles over losing another guy> Next turn> I want to kill someone with my butcher knights two melee weapons> But guy is right there on a large hill> Pull> Kill #3> OdeToJoy.mp3And that's how I won my second game and scored 4 glorious deeds
>son and I start playing>My very first action in our very first game>I get a lucky hit on a long shot>get a downed result>his guy is set up on the top of a multiple-story ruin>ends up falling two floors and immediately dyingSold me on the game.
>>98054139Pretty funny way to win. But beating Fidai is like kicking a puppy. There's a reason why they're getting a rework in Carcass Front including two new units.
>I am an idiot and leave my Trench Crusade models on the bookshelf next to the front door.>Have to use my friends models and his list.>His list is kind of garbage, also as above clearly indicates, I am a moron.>There is perhaps a touch too much terrain because we are using his MDF Necromunda stuff>My Suicide Wretched dude fails to kill anybody because I have not read how those work right.>My Nun dies before she can do anything.>My Punt-Gun Castigator misses his first two shots because I cannot read.>...then The Boys on the left flank start to roll some dice.>Shoeless Flamethrower Dude, Drugged up Prophet and The Communicant Vs His Warwoof, Death-Commando and Some Random Guy.>Flamethrower de-Toughs the Warwolf.>My Prophet flying turnbuckle leaps off the terrain to finish him off.>Communicant deletes Commando>Then we sweep in to take the rest of his gunline that's been hiding behind some Kill-Team Pipes terrain.>On the other side, my Castigator remembers he's using a Shotgun, and evaporates his Anointed.>Whilst above us, my two dudes with bolt actions have a rifle duel against his Troopers with Bolt Actions. Nobody is interested in helping either side it is a private affair that I win with one guy left remaining.Overall, not the worst first game ever.
>>98058586My first game involved fully wiping my opponent on the last move of the last turn. It involved the luckiest 12 inch charge and a crit. If that didn't happen, I would have lost by 1 VP.
I'm getting a wood laser cutter soon, wanting to make terrain and tokens/standees. Anyone have ideas for stuff that would work well? (As in, I can have them made to friction-fit, but it'll be made of 3mm flat wood that I can cut and engrave).Mostly I just have ideas for small bits of rubble and basic box-buildings.
/TG/ Campaign when?
>>98065281It won’t work.It will devolve into fighting as zealous defenders of anything that isn’t warhammer versus people who point out mistakes of factory fortress to real trolls and such.It just won’t work.Even by /tg/ standards this general is slow to the point. /awg/fags hate us so it won’t just be zealous warhammer fans to deal with.
I've played a few games so far and my buddy and me only recently started a campaign. I did, however, get a lot of friends into the game by just having demonstration battles with them, most of them tabletop wargaming for the first time. There was a great moment in one of those intro games, me playing black grail and a friend playing prussians:>plague knight and shocktrooper locked in melee on a balcony>decide to risk it and have herald shoot the putrid shotgun into them >hits plague knight>kills plague knight>shock trooper axes the herald and kills it then goes to dive charge the thrall below the balcony>fails the dive roll and rolls for injury>diesLove this game.
