>Livestreams that value production value or "actor talent" over quality roleplaying or content>Livestreams that focus entirely on bit comedy or improv comedy rather than roleplaying>Constant floods of clarifying questions in spite of overly-long GM exposition>2-4 hour combat slogs where they basically board game with overly complex rules>Constant OOC jokes to entertain the audience>Performance/Acting rather than roleplayingIs it impossible to find high quality in-character roleplaying live streams or actual plays? I want to listen to something good while I'm on my run. Everything is the same AcquInq/D20/CR style slop. I didn't have any hope for D&D's "official" livestream and- surprise, surprise- it's mostly shit (the mexican dude is pretty good, though). Please, I'm just asking for one example of good roleplaying to listen to mindlessly on my run and commute.
What would a good one even look like? Roleplaying isn't interesting as a spectator sport. It might be useful to help learn from, but otherwise it'd just be a radio play but worse.
>>97942849This one was serious and IC focused. At least the first season I watched.https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWFzPmai-Qdufb3DSQhQWdtyhDRsa62gA
>>97942849>livestreams>non-garbagePick one.
>>97942849Genuinely: No.By virtue of it being a production being put on by a cast and crew for an audience, it will always have those problems. Either they pick people for their tables based on identity, e-fame, supposed comedic chops, or they are grabbing their dumbass friends who have no experience being in front of a camera, so they either try way too hard to be funny or they actively drag the whole thing down. Even if the cast balance is good, you've still got a bunch of people who are more concerned with their potential audience than the game.
>>97942849Jesus Christ look at those tits
>>97943805Tits that are attached to a dumpy body and a fish face aren't anything to write home about.
>>97942849Naw.I can't even comprehend why you'd want to watch a bunch of actors pretend to play D&D.It's the only thing less interesting than watching a bunch of actual nerds actually play a D&D game, that you are not involved in.D&D is a game about rolling dice, theater of the mind, and getting excited when "your guy" does something cool. It's already abstracted as hell, and abstracting it again to the point where you aren't even the guy rolling the dice or deciding what your character does, renders it about as interesting as the accounting spreadsheet for a sawdust wholesaler.
>>97942849At that point just listen to an audiodrama or something dude
>>97943108Thank you anon, I'll watch this.>>97942872I don't mind if it's "boring" by performance metrics. I'm looking to hear good roleaplying, not acting.>>97943118>>97943551>>97944079>>97944097Figured. Thanks anyway anons. I figured I'd ask. I suspect any higher quality roleplaying isn't picked up by the algorithm because it's not "acting" (and therefore "entertaining" to the average viewer)
>>97944168To be frank, most roleplaying is pseudo-ic, and surrounded by people asking you to pass the ranch dressing, or open a window because your cigarette smoke is burning their eyes.Like, imagine watching a play, then half way through a scene the actors all shit themselves laughing, because it's getting too silly, and take a 20-minute break to eat pizza and talk about metaplot related shit, and smack-talk the narrator. It sorta delineates the difference in intention between a story acted out for an audience, and a roleplaying game to be participated in.
>>97944289Wait? Does your table not mostly stay in character? Mine does. It's a purposeful decision though (we prefer immersive in-character roleplay).
