Pretty much what it says on the tin. What games are you running? What are you playing in?Read any new or interesting games lately? For me, currently I am running a sci-fi savage worlds game, I am currently playing in a D&D 5e game and an OSE advanced game. What about you?
>>97949678Not really playing much, lately, but I'm trying to figure out which of the many ideas I have to start making into a game.I liked my previous project, but I want to start on something simpler to decompress a little.
>>97949721That's fair,y brain needs to tinker with stuff and us gamers never have enough time for all our ideas.Whatcha kicking around?
>>97949733The 1st idea I have is something I started a while back, but haven't revisited for years. It's fantasy with elements of cyberpunk (without its darker aspects) & more wide-open wilderness to muck around in instead of cities being everywhere. There's going to be martial arts, blades, & some guns for different play styles, "modules" for psionics; each of these will be used with aplomb to destroy goblins, their machines, & mutants. The idea is, in prehistoric times, goblins brought in "black blood" & gold to humans from another dimension, accelerating technological progress, but unbeknownst to ancient man, accepting these "gifts" bound them into an unwritten accord. Numerous points in history featured humans fighting back against goblins, but I want to do a "modern" setting to explore fantasy applications for guns & machines.I'll feature ruined cities instead of dungeons, & have different kinds of biomes for battlefields, but for this one, I want to try non-grid combat. So for combat, each member will be listed in order from highest Agility to lowest, then the respective Agility will be listed as a negative value for the purposes of initiative. Then, everyone will decide what they want to do, with each Skill having a Wait Time. Wait Time + the user's total Weight will be added to their initiative, then 1D20 will be rolled & subtracted from that value. The lowest numbers will perform their Skills first, melee attacks will be weaker the "further" the user is from the target, thrown attacks have a set "distance" limit, & shot attacks have no penalty, but usually can't affect targets in the Cover State.Oh, characters are able to declare reactions when targeted, unless otherwise specified by their queued Skill.Once the Round resolves, anyone with a negative initiative gets to act again. If not, every remaining combatant is shuffled based on initiative, lowest to highest, & combat continues. It's all solo, so I don't need to worry about teaching anyone.
>>97949678I hate niggers. That’s the name of the game I am currently playing. It’s very good and by its very nature gatekeeps redditor faggots like you
>>97949678I'm in two games atm>Game 1: Pf1e, played weekly, the party are a group of nobles and their retinue trying to lead their side to victory on a continent riven by a three-way civil war between the old nobility, a mad king and demon-worshipping peasants.>Game 2: 40k Rogue Trader, fortnightly to month, no overarching plot - just a rogue trader doing rogue trader things.
>>97949678I'm playing a Dark Sun campaign that has been homebrewed for 5E.
>>97949678Been enjoying ACKS a bit
>>97949889Which edition if IHN you running?
>>97949889You know I get banned IMMEDIATELY after posting the least spicy FBI statistics and these dudes out here doing hate crimes
>>97949958maybe stop posting on reddit then
>>97949733The 2nd is embarrassing, plus it's in its infancy; it's derivative of the idea of creating Sonic OCs who fight robots, but not something set in Sonic's universe.I've only thought out a few parameters:1st: Character Type. There's a number of points to distribute between Fly, Power, & Speed, like Sonic Heroes, but instead of having rigid types where power guy break red thing, you can distribute points however you like. There may be instances that let you increase points, but this is something that should be rigid during a campaign.Note: Even though the Type is called "Fly", flight isn't something achievable until its points are high enough; until then, it's essentially jumping & aerial control. Also, no Speed stat will ever be high enough to move as fast as Sonic in the movies, that would be insane.2nd: Quill. Regardless of if your character is a hedgehog, echidna, fox, or a cat is fine too, they have a Quill parameter. "Quill" is a concept I'm taking from the Sonic movies, in which the character draws upon a charge to enhance their performance somehow. I don't want it to have a limitation like 1/day or 1/encounter, but I was thinking of connecting stronger Quill Skills to a building resource that charges from basic actions.3rd: Tech. Machines aren't inherently bad, that's up to the user. There are 2 types of Tech: mundane tech & Ringtech. This acts as equipment; tech can be swords, armor, guns, etc. Mundane tech is cheap & easy, but doesn't conduct Quill as well as Ringtech, & isn't as durable. Ringtech is improved by, you guessed it, Rings. Rings will act as a currency, you gain them from defeating enemies & salvaging unnecessary materials.4th: Chaos Shards. The closest thing to magic, these act as a sublevel of equipment & can slot into mundane tech to greatly improve performance. Not Ringtech, because Rings seal Chaos energy.I also want Chaos to synergize with Quill, as a reference to Super forms.
>>97949889fucking based
>>97949678I'm currently running A Time To Harvest for CoC for my group, and my other friend group that hasn't played any rpg in years asked me to run the a wfrp game, which, depending on if it goes well, I might turn into a campaign.
>>97949889>hates nogs>acts like onetypical
>>97949678Ruining a b/x game that is about to fail due to scheduling issues.I love playing face to face but I'm for real about to give up on that and just switch to online completely
>>97949678I am GMing call of cthulhu 7th edition, and a game of my own making.I fucking love call of cthulhu, anyone who hasnt had the chance to play it should try to.
>>97949869Fantasy and sci-fi mixed is fun. I never got into the solo stuff myself. My brain would go a bit to detailed I fear lol.>>97949896Those sound fun. I was really into RT at some point but was hard to get a game going. My area is a bit sparsely populated with gamers willing to try non d&d stuff.>>97949905Oh nice! DS is such a great fucking setting. How are y'all handlings defilers and psionics?>>97949973Robot fighting makes my 80s kid heart happy lol. Ya know, there was so much robot on robot violence back in the day. I don't see your idea as embarrassing so much as just nostalgic.>>97950125I have never played CoC. Is time of harvest a mod or campaign?>>97951504We have all been there my guy. RL can be the true BBEG of gaming. My last RL game fell part due to drama unrelated to the game at all. I currently run on roll20 which isn't bad but not the same.>>97951811Humm that's a second for CoC. Any major differences between editions?
>>97951861It's a campaign, we basically voted for it a couple months ago. Honestly it's not that great, the first 2 chapters are good and the antagonist faction happens to be my number 1 favorite CoC antagonist faction of all time bar none, but the later chapters go in a very weird direction.Still, it's at worst just kinda meh, most of the time I'd say it's still a fairly good campaign.
>>97951861>I was really into RT at some point but was hard to get a game going. My area is a bit sparsely populated with gamers willing to try non d&d stuff.I've loved all the 40k rpgs since I first started playing back in high school. Fortunately neither of my groups are interested in 5e so we've always played a good variety of systems.Rogue Trader has been going down especially well with the players who had no prior exposure to 40k.
>>97949678>>97949733>wacha >yall Its this fake congeniality and forced casual conversation that actively kills interest. Doesn't help you just one sentence list some shit with no description and the image isn't even of the games you listed. You're surface level marketing spam bullshit.
>>97952079This is how I talk. I also use things like ya, yuns, reckon and fixin. Ican't help if it annoys you, my RL accent would likely annoy you to. I don't really care. The image is a general TTRPG image, yeah it came off some game blog I grabbed with an image search. The topic isn't about any set game, it's about stuff folks are playing. If I wanted to talk about a set game,I would use the image related to it. But it's a general TTRPG topic so I used a general image.
>>97952116>ya, yuns, reckon and fixinWhat accent is that? I've never heard someone say yuns or fixin in my life, not even on TV.
>>97952173It's an Appalachian dialect. At times it's very inland south, but it's different. Like we use buggy for shopping cart, crick(creek), a mess (a lot of something), right smart (long distance) and holler(kinda a valley between hills often with a single gravel or dirt road and houses clinging to the hills or valley). Its not as spread though younger people as no one is as isolated any more. Things like the Internet and TV have lessened some accents. When I was a kid, we had at lest 6 tv channels and 2 where religious, one was local ads with music. I heard people often use terms like a Airish(means it's cold,), and side goggled (it's crooked) and varmint (small animal) and you rarely hear those used any more. The accent and words are just not being picked up by younger folks. There is a rather cool project on American dialects you can find here. You if go though the link page it's full of videos of examples of folks speakinghttps://aschmann.net/AmEng/
>>97952173Oh another thing to add, on the TV thing. There is a show "justified" you can see some examples on it. Pretty sure history channel had a reality show with it too with ginsing hunters, I think.
Anyone here try UESRPG? Is it good?
>>97952308I had never even heard of this and had to Google it.
>>97952358I've seen threads for it here in the past and I'm thinking I'm going to give it a go and see what happens.
>>97952258I appreciate the detailed response. I'm Australian and we don't have all that much variation in accent from side of the country to another so I've always enjoyed hearing from people where there's a bit more regional/subcultural distinctiveness. Shame to hear the dialect is disappearing but I guess that's fairly inevitable.
>>97952520It is inevitable as accents require some isolation. I don't think it will vanish totally, you will see it get muddled a bit. More inland south is coming in as some of the unique words start to die out. I actually play an online game with two Australians so dialects and turns of phase come up a bit. We as a group learned things mean very different things to us lol. It's really interesting how diverse English is.
>>97952569Thongs, not things
>>97949889I've got all the expansion packs for that one
