A lot of the Juhkwaffle and cobalt 60 stuff is akin to or perhaps influential on the general style that Rogue Trader emerged from, being part of the heavy metal, 2000AD, etc. inspiration.
The part that fell off is the sexyness and vietnam era self doubt/introspection.

This doesn't map well onto imperial guardsmen anymore. Its more aimed at the shock and loss of being through exposure to a war from a place of innocence rather than the grim darkness which has been only war for millennia.
Might be able to do an Ecclesiarchy missionary getting exposure to the galaxy, but it might not work as well.
