How does one even go about finding people to play with? I'm new to tabletop games and no one I know is interested in them. I've tried discord but everyone seems to be a faggot and/or unwelcoming to new people.
I don't frequent this board (yet...), are there ever LFG threads? If so, would anyone welcome a newb such as myself?
Hopefully this isn't too much of a BAW thread, thanks in advance anons o7

This is /tg/, we don't play tabletop games. We only have horny and right-wing propaganda threads vaguely themed around tabletop games (we don't play). So post a local lord bait thread or fuck off.

Have friends whose interest align with yours. Don't have any? You've failed, tap out and find something else to do with your life.

Find a local game store, go there, see if they have a bulletin board or discord for games. Apply. Try not to spill your spaghetti and make friends.

Many universities have RPG clubs. If they don't, hang out some flyers for a game you want to run. You'll probably get responses soon.

go to discord and start talking about games with people or hype some of your friends into playing a one session and groom them from there

I met my old group through my uni's rpg club and when I moved interstate for work I met my next group the same way. Even though I wasn't a student, the uni club in my new town was happy for me to join them and attend the 'new game spruiking night' or post in the lfg chat.

I met my current group when I moved interstate again and found a "ttrpgs in [city]" and a "DnD players in [city]" Facebook groups.

Many different ways:
1. Find friends and convince them to play
2. Go to a local game shop and see if they host any games
3. Go on r/lfg or the Roll20 forums and check for any open games
4. Go to Startplaying and join a paid DM's game

I joined a game with a paid DM and it's been going for almost a year now. It's been pretty fun and worth the money. Of course you won't get any games if you're a piece of shit.

Only a hasgames would post this

if you have more desperation than dignity, you could always pay to play

A number of ways:
>local game shop
>local college (they always have game/rpg clubs)
>facebook.com or meetup.com
>reddit.com/lfg
>roll20.net (online games)
>D&D Beyond
>startplaying.games (paid)

I know you tried discord but did you visit the dozens of LFG discords out there? Here's one that's got some good stuff:
>discord /r/lfg
>https://discord.gg/QyUyQwawkc
