For what it's worth, I think secret bastard royalty is a decent character hook. It's part background part motivation and it gives both player and GM angles to pursue.

Many of them should be just standard actions, they pop up at random times and inapprioppriate moments so it's hard to use them in an interesting or tactical way, you can get one even with a shitty roll but on their own they are not enough to save such roll. Easy fix for most of those complaints: you should just be able to store a fixed amount of stunt points and be able use them when appriopriate.
