Hypothetically, if you were a DM trying to design the ultimate dungeon, something even harder than Tomb of Horrors, what mechanics would you add? The only rule is that dungeon has to be hypothetically solvable.

Here is my idea:
>The dungeon is comprised of ten floors.
>Each floor is a narrow maze.
>The entire maze floor is covered in waist-high mud, which reduces the players' mobility.
>Hidden beneath the mud are caltrops, which will deal poison damage when stepped on.
>There are Grung hiding in this mud, ready to pop out, shoot poison arrows at the players, then swim away.
>Each level has one exit door, which is hidden somewhere in the maze.
>Each exit door will only open when four words are spoken.
>These four words are carved on walls at four points within the maze.
>Finally, the mud is gradually rising as the players explore, giving them a time limit before they drown.

Tomb of Horrors was literally a troll dungeon. I don't hate my friends, and I'm not an insufferable faggot like Gaygag, so I would never do such a thing.

>if I were a DM
So, if I were someone who didn't want to run a game? I'd be a completely different person at that point.

Tezzeracts and teleporting rooms should do the trick if you stock it by the rules.
I have seen 10x10 rooms stacked together with doors break players.

The entire point of Tomb of Horrors is that there's as few mechanics as possible. Enemies can be killed. Poison can be resisted or cured. But you can't fix a portal that steals your equipment, or a stone block that crushes you without a save.

Even having four words that actually consist of a password is more lenient than Tomb of Horrors, because the riddle at the start of it is very vague and doesn't actually help in solving anything beyond the first room.

OK, it's just World's Worst Boardgame but every time you don't roll a 6, you die. Also creating a new character has a 1000 dollar administrative fee.
