Has anyone played this? Seems okay. I like Narcos and Breaking bad. I just don't know what Powered by the Apocalypse is. 25 bucks for a PDF seems steep.

Here let me help you out:
>Powered by the apocalypse is a garbage storyshitter system
>If you actually pay for game PDFs then you are stupid

Fictionalized docuseries

Fiction
If you want to emulate fiction, go for something like FATE.
If you want to emulate reality, go for something like GURPS.
For something in the middle, I don't know, narco stuff hit too close home to me, I play TTRPGs to escape reality.

Not entirely true the story of John Wick is fictional and still one of the best use case for GURPS, because few orther things can do gunplay this detailed

>>

Both of those are correct.
>>
If I were to find something fitting the system or something I would find fun is missing from it, what would I do?
>>

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Almost all of the violence attributed to cartels is actually done by the police and military and outside advisers from American agencies like DEA, CIA, and occasionally Interpol or other international concerns like corperations or land owners, but the media literally never does any investigation and just uncritically repeats whatever is in offical press releases and moves on with no follow up. How does this game address that?
>>
>>97968524
Yeah the story is fiction, but the gunplay in John Wick is pretty realistic to the point Keanu and Halle Berry can do drills REALLY quickly and impressively.
>>
>>97968652
I imagine the game probably does not address Mexicope fanfiction, though you never know.
>>
>>97968335
Wow you sound like a colossal sensitive faggot.
I hope your family gets chopped up by the cartel you fucking loser
>>
I vaguely recall this is set in the 60s.
When the Cartels are vaguely state-sanctioned from the PRI being so omnipresent and corrupt they just take a cut.
The cartels are mostly just rural mobsters lead by men who grew up with the Civil War.
And the southern hard drugs and the massive wave of expansion and violence are still a decade or two away.

Shut the fuck up and learn how to read.

>the tattooed gangsters who record themselves dismembering people on camera are heckin' innocent!!
If you believe a word of your bullshit you would go tell them that in Sinaloa

It's a way to make a technically functional game with minimal effort. The only one I've seen that's actually any good is the original Apocalypse World.

Definitely not something you want to pay more than $10 for.
>>

How would one make a technically functional game with PbtA?
>>
>>97970675
You take the chassis and just make a few classes with half a dozen moves each. Bam, you have a minimum viable product. Just add some fluff, crib GMing instructions from someone who hopefully knows what they're talking about, add some images and you have a product you can sell.
>>
>Cartel
>powered by the apocalypse
Anyone remember that hoodlem homebrew that was powered by craps? I guarantee that works better.
>>
>>97970714
Apocalypse World is a conversation, as professed in its own pages.
It is not a game, it is a quest.
Therefore, its derivatives cannot be games, let alone a "technically functional" one.
We banished quests back in 2018, remember? We had good cause to.

Semantics
>We banished quests back in 2018, remember? We had good cause to.
Quests weren't banished because they're not games, they were banished because they were drowning out all other topics. Kind of like /mlp/ was made into it's own board even though no-one would dispute that it is a cartoon.

>they were banished because they were drowning out all other topics
Good, that means we should be seeing an end to the puckee slop spam, then.
Because drowning out other topics results in banishment.

That was back when this site still had something resembling functional moderation...

Thank you for making look for this, it's great and I want to run it some day.

Apocalypse World is fine if you like a style of game more like improv than piloting a character. Some of its PbtA offshoots are pretty good.

With that said, there's a lot of shovelware PbtA games. $25 for something where most of the budget seems to have gone into art is a little steep.

This looks cool but it’s not the game I was talking about, the game I was talking about only had one stat or resource (credit or “cred” which the player would wager when taking actions). But that was a work in progress so maybe that evolved into this.
